Excessive nitrogen application may adversely impact grain yield and quality of rice. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of several nitrogen-reduction strategies on the grain yield and quality of mechanically transplanted hybrid indica rice. Field experiments were performed in 2020 and 2021 using Yixiangyou2115 and Fyou498. The research investigated variations in grain yield and quality of rice under different nitrogen-reduction strategies, including NR1, balanced N reduction; NR2, N reduction in basal fertilizer; NR3, N reduction in tillering fertilizer; and NR4, N reduction in earing fertilizer, compared to the conventional nitrogen application for high-yield cultivation (CK). Compared to CK, the grain yield of rice decreased by 1.63% to 19.71% under nitrogen-reduction strategies. Relative to NR3 and NR4, NR1 and NR2 exhibited an increase in grain yield ranging from 1.81% to 22.51%, attributed to increases in panicle number (0.61% to 13.19%) and spikelet number per panicle (1.60% to 12.28%). Meanwhile, NR1 and NR2 also had relatively high LAI and dry matter accumulation in rice plants at maturity. Compared to CK, NR1 and NR2 improved the processing quality of rice grain, while NR3 and NR4 resulted in reduced processing quality. The chalkiness rate and chalkiness degree of rice under the NR1, NR3, and NR4 treatments were reduced by 2.97% to 23.73% and 3.35% to 52.49%, respectively, in comparison to CK. Additionally, the NR1 and NR4 treatments were linked to an increase in taste value by 1.44% to 3.66% and gel consistency by 13.87% to 46.01% relative to CK. These findings suggest that balanced nitrogen reduction can maintain a high yield while improving the appearance and eating quality of mechanically transplanted hybrid indica rice. A procedure utilizing [TBA][P(SiCl3)2] as P source for the synthesis of phosphinecarboxamides is presented. The synthesis involves the reaction of [TBA][P(SiCl3)2] with isocyanates. These compounds act as highly effective reagents for the subsequent phosphination of isocyanates, leading to the formation of phosphine(triscarboxamides). BACKGROUND: With the ageing population in China and an increasing number of the elderly developing chronic illnesses, health services for the elderly have become a major concern. They have significant needs for health information (HI) such as online medical consultation, disease prevention, and medical insurance. OBJECTIVE: To explore the influencing factors and their relative significance in proxy online health information (OHI) seeking among the elderly with chronic illnesses so as to provide a reference for enriching theoretical research and optimizing care for the elderly with chronic illness. METHODS: Twenty-three elderly people with chronic illnesses participated in semi-structured in-depth interviews in this study. The interview transcripts were subject to three levels of coding (open, axial, and selective coding) based on grounded theory to determine the factors influencing proxy OHI seeking among the elderly and to understand how the main categories are interconnected. We used the interpretive structural modeling (ISM) process to analyze the hierarchy and associated pathways among the factors influencing proxy OHI seeking. RESULTS: From our analysis, we identified four main categories affecting proxy HI seeking: the health status, emotional needs, electronic HI literacy, and self-efficacy of the elderly. There were six subcategories that could be further subclassified into direct factors, key factors, and root factors, which constituted the hierarchical model of influencing factors. CONCLUSION: We found that proxy HI seeking among the elderly was directly triggered by self-efficacy and emotional needs following changes in their evaluation of health information and emotional needs, which originates from their perceptions of their health, concerns about their health, and information retrieval capability. Ginkgo biloba L. an ancient relict plant known as a 'living fossil', has a high medicinal and nutritional value in its kernels and leaves. Ginkgolides are unique diterpene lactone compounds in G. biloba , with favorable therapeutic effects on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Thus, it is essential to study the biosynthesis and regulatory mechanism of ginkgolide, which will contribute to quality improvement and medication requirements. In this study, the regulatory roles of the JAZ gene family and GbCOI1/GbJAZs/GbMYC2 module in ginkgolide biosynthesis were explored based on genome and methyl jasmonate-induced transcriptome. Firstly, 18 JAZ proteins were identified from G. biloba , and the gene characteristics and expansion patterns along with evolutionary relationships of these GbJAZs were analyzed systematically. Expression patterns analysis indicated that most GbJAZs expressed highly in the fibrous root and were induced significantly by methyl jasmonate. Mechanistically, yeast two-hybrid assays suggested that GbJAZ3/11 interacted with both GbMYC2 and GbCOI1, and several GbJAZ proteins could form homodimers or heterodimers between the GbJAZ family. Moreover, GbMYC2 is directly bound to the G-box element in the promoter of GbLPS , to regulate the biosynthesis of ginkgolide. Collectively, these results systematically characterized the JAZ gene family in G. biloba and demonstrated that the GbCOI1/GbJAZs/GbMYC2 module could regulate ginkgolides biosynthesis, which provides a novel insight for studying the mechanism of JA regulating ginkgolide biosynthesis. Background: A viral infection can modify the risk to subsequent viral infections via cross‐protective immunity, increased immunopathology, or disease‐driven behavioral change. There is limited understanding of virus–virus interactions due to lack of long‐term population‐level data. Methods: Our study leverages passive surveillance data of 10 human acute respiratory viruses from Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai collected during 2009 to 2019: influenza A and B viruses; respiratory syncytial virus A and B; human parainfluenza virus (HPIV), adenovirus, metapneumovirus (HMPV), coronavirus, bocavirus (HBoV), and rhinovirus (HRV). We used a multivariate Bayesian hierarchical model to evaluate correlations in monthly prevalence of test‐positive samples between virus pairs, adjusting for potential confounders. Results: Of 101,643 lab‐tested patients, 33,650 tested positive for any acute respiratory virus, and 4,113 were co‐infected with multiple viruses. After adjusting for intrinsic seasonality, long‐term trends and multiple comparisons, Bayesian multivariate modeling found positive correlations for HPIV/HRV in all cities and for HBoV/HRV and HBoV/HMPV in three cities. Models restricted to children further revealed statistically significant associations for another ten pairs in three of the four cities. In contrast, no consistent correlation across cities was found among adults. Most virus–virus interactions exhibited substantial spatial heterogeneity. Conclusions: There was strong evidence for interactions among common respiratory viruses in highly populated urban settings. Consistent positive interactions across multiple cities were observed in viruses known to typically infect children. Future intervention programs such as development of combination vaccines may consider spatially consistent virus–virus interactions for more effective control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Asian Gelsemium elegans (G. elegans) has a wide range of pharmacological activities. However, its strong toxicity limits its potential development and application. Interestingly, there are significant gender differences in G. elegans toxicity in rats. This work aimed to elucidate the overall absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) of whole G. elegans crude extract in female and male rats using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HPLC/QqTOF-MS), which facilitates determining the reasons for the gender differences in toxicity. A total of 25 absorbed bioactive components and 3 related produced metabolites were tentatively identified in female rats, while only 17 absorbed bioactive components and 3 related produced metabolites were identified in male rats. By comparison of peak intensities, most compounds were found to be more active in absorption, distribution and excretion in female rats than in male rats, which showed that female rats were more sensitive to G. elegans. This study was the first to investigate the multicomponent in vivo process of G. elegans in rats and compare the differences between sexes. It was hypothesized that differences in the absorption of gelsedine-type alkaloids were one of the main reasons for the sex differences in G. elegans toxicity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
