Previous studies have shown that self-affirmation increases acceptance of a message and motivates health behavior change. The present study investigated whether self-affirmation increases the acceptance of persuasive messages on COVID-19 vaccines and promotes vaccination intention. A total of 144 participants were randomly assigned to the self-affirmation (n = 72) or control (n = 72) groups before reading a persuasive message on COVID-19 vaccines. The results revealed that the self-affirmation group showed significantly higher acceptance of persuasive information on COVID-19 vaccines than the control group. Additionally, the self-affirmation group also showed significantly higher post-experiment vaccination intention than the control group. Mediation analysis indicated that increased acceptance of persuasive information significantly mediated the beneficial effects of self-affirmation on post-experiment vaccination intention. ObjectiveTo investigate the social support status and influencing factors of schizophrenics in remission in Northeast Sichuan， and to provide ideas for improving their social support.MethodsFrom May to September 2020， a total of 533 patients who met the diagnosis criteria of the International Classification of Diseases， tenth edition （ICD-10） for schizophrenics in remission at the mental health institutions in Guangyuan， Bazhong and Dazhou cities were selected for the survey， and patients were assessed by self-made demographic and clinical data inventory and Social Support Rating Scale （SSRS）. Psychological resilience plays an important role in overcoming emotional distress among people receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). This study aimed to investigate how social support and family resilience interact to influence psychological resilience among Chinese people receiving MHD. This was a prospective longitudinal study with three time points: baseline (T1), 3 months (T2), and 6 months (T3) later. A convenience sample of 252 participants (67.1% male; 57.6 ± 13.8 years of age) from Zhejiang Province, China, who completed baseline measures of social support, family resilience, and psychological resilience, were further assessed for psychological resilience at T2 and T3. Polynomial regression (PR) and response surface analysis (RSA) were used to analyze the data. At all time points, and in the case of agreement between social support and family resilience, the combined effect of both variables manifested as a positive linear association with psychological resilience. Instead, at baseline, and in case of disagreement, the same combined effect manifested as a negative linear relationship related to psychological resilience. The findings highlighted the importance of considering the conjoint influence of social support and family resilience when developing interventions to improve the psychological resilience of people receiving MHD. Previous studies have revealed that the perceived quality of the parent-child relationship is essential for both physical health and psychological well-being. However, most studies have treated the perceived quality of this relationship as an independent variable. In this study, we considered it a dependent variable and examined the role of parents' education and parent-child literacy activities on children's perceived quality of the parent-child relationship. One hundred and eighty-six Chinese primary school students and their parents from low socioeconomic backgrounds participated in this study. Parents' educational level and the parent-child literacy activity status were assessed based on parents' reports, whereas parent-child relationships were assessed based on children's reports. Results showed that parents' educational level positively correlated with the frequency of parent-child literacy activities and children's perceptions of the quality of the parent-child relationship. There was also a significant positive correlation between the frequency of parent-child literacy activities and children's perceptions of the quality of the parent-child relationship. Further analyses showed that the frequency of parent-child literacy activities mediated the connection between parents' educational level and children's perceived quality of the parent-child relationship. These results suggest that boosting the frequency of parent-child literacy activities may be a useful strategy for facilitating the parent-child relationship.

This study aims to explore the prevalence of self-neglect and associated factors among older adults admitted to the hospital in the COVID-19 pandemic context. The cross-sectional study conducted at a Chinese comprehensive hospital between January and April 2021, 452 older adults were recruited to complete the Abrams Geriatric Self-Neglect Scale, Social Support Rate Scale, FRAIL scale, Barthel index, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, and 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. Multivariate logistic regression was used to explore the factors associated with elder self-neglect. The results showed that the prevalence of self-neglect among our sample was 30.3%. Factors that were associated with the risk of elder self-neglect included male, having multiple children (≥4), receiving infrequent visits from children, frailty, and depression. There is a need to screen for self-neglect among older adults admitted to the hospital in the COVID-19 pandemic context. Each completed questionnaires on Sociodemographic Characteristics, General Well‐being Schedule, Brief 2‐Way Social Support Scale, and Lubben Social Network Scale. Latent profile analysis was used to categorise participants into distinct subgroups based on their general well‐being. Chi‐square and t‐tests were used for univariate analysis, and binary logistic regression was used to identify influencing factors.The latent profile analysis identified two distinct profiles of well‐being in older adults: a low general well‐being group and a high general well‐being group. Binary logistic regression revealed that living arrangements, physical activity, number of chronic diseases, provision of instrumental support and friend networks significantly impact the general well‐being of older adults.Heterogeneity in general well‐being levels exists among older adults, necessitating targeted intervention measures tailored to the different characteristics of each subgroup to enhance their support resources and well‐being.Community nurses should identify general well‐being disparities among older adults and craft targeted strategies as educators, providers, counsellors and managers to boost and equalise this demographic's general well‐being.Distinct profiles of general well‐being among older adults, coupled with the positive effects of friend networks and the provision of social support, highlight the importance of mutual social support and networks in promoting healthy ageing. Previous studies revealed that both self-concept and social support were associated with mental health in college students. Very few studies have explored the ways these two variables work on mental health, particularly in mainland China. In the present study, 411 college students in northwest China were assessed using the School and Society Situations Scale (which includes a social support sub-scale and self-concept sub-scale) and Self-report Symptom Checklist 90. The results showed that a positive self-concept was positively correlated with individual perceived social support from parents, teachers, and peers, and that both self-concept and perceived social support were negatively associated with mental health problems. Moreover, structural equation modeling analyses showed that self-concept fully mediated the role of perceived social support in individuals' mental health. These results suggested that all kinds of perceived support from the social environment may help the college student form a positive self-concept, and the positive self-concept may help them resist and effectively cope with the risk factors related to mental health. Objective: This study aimed to propose clusters of the association between childhood trauma and resilience in nursing students and to examine their mental health according to these clusters., Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out between September 2018 and May 2019. A total of 1,245 undergraduate nursing students (104 male, 1,141 female) were enrolled in a medical university in East China to complete the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, and Self-Rating Depression Scale., Results: The cluster analysis identified three clusters as follows: the self-healing group (40.7%), the mildly traumatized with low resiliency group (22.2%), and the healthy group (37.1%). The logistic regression analysis revealed that the levels of anxiety and depression significantly differed between the three clusters, with the mildly traumatized with low resiliency group having the highest odds to have anxiety and depression., Conclusion: This study identified three clusters of the association between childhood trauma and resilience in undergraduate nursing students and indicated that each cluster was associated with a different level of anxiety and depression. The unique characteristics of the three clusters may help identify and develop appropriate interventions to promote the mental health of undergraduate nursing students.
