The current work examines how consumers respond to luxury products designed with significant utilization of technology. It delineates two inherent values of luxury products-emotional and functional-and argues that utilizing technology in the luxury product design process negatively impacts the emotional value but enhances the associated functional value. Such paradoxical impact of AI-led design on emotional and functional values leads to a differential effect on consumer response patterns. For luxury products that particularly draw on their superior emotional value (e.g., luxury fashion brands), using AI as a design source significantly reduces the perceived brand essence, leading to negative consumer response. Objective To explore the feasibility and effectiveness of an online service offering Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physique conditioning under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control. Methods From March 1, 2020 to March 10, 2020, 190 subjects who were judged as "Qi deficiency" by "TCM constitution test" were recruited online. A research team was set up to develop physique conditioning plans, formulate "Ear Massage", construct a physique conditioning WeChat group and public account for Qi-deficiency subjects, and provided online physique conditioning services for 6 months. The conversion score of Qi-deficiency, the frequency of respiratory infection in 6 months and psychological status were compared before and after intervention. Shape memory alloy (SMA), a type of smart material, is widely used in the design of reinforcement and repair, isolation, and shock absorption of building structures because of its outstanding characteristics, such as the shape memory effect (SME), superelasticity (SE), and high damping. It not only improves the bearing capacity, ductility, and mechanical properties of the structural components of buildings but can also effectively slow down the strong response of engineering structures under the effect of an earthquake. It plays a key role in energy dissipation and shock absorption as well as sustainable development. To promote the application of SMA in building structures, this paper summarizes the research on the use of SMA as a reinforcing material in building structures, including work related to SMA material characteristics and types, SMA-reinforced structural components, and SMA isolation devices. In addition, the shortcomings of SMA applications in building structures are analyzed, and valuable suggestions for future research methods are put forward. Charities are constantly looking for new and more effective ways to engage potential donors in order to secure the resources needed to deliver services. The current work demonstrates that creative activities are one way for marketers to meet this challenge. Field and lab studies find that engaging potential donors in creative activities positively influences their donation behaviors (i.e., the likelihood of donation and the monetary amount donated). Importantly, the observed effects are shown to be context independent: they hold even when potential donors engage in creative activities unrelated to the focal cause of the charity (or the charitable organization itself). The findings suggest that engaging in a creative activity enhances the felt autonomy of the participant, thus inducing a positive affective state, which in turn leads to higher donation behaviors. Positive affect is demonstrated to enhance donation behaviors due to perceptions of donation impact and a desire for mood maintenance. However, the identified effects emerge only when one engages in a creative activity—not when the activity is noncreative, or when only the concept of creativity itself is made salient. Monitoring the water pollution level in real time is the most critical issue for protecting the water quality of water reservoirs. Due to the restrictions on flight areas of Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAV), four sensitive regions with the area of 1–2 km2 were first selected in this study based on the spatial distribution of total nitrogen (TN) concentration changes estimated by the Landsat remote sensing data. And then twelve machine learning algorithms including Support Vector Machine (SVM), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Bayesian Ridge Regression (BRR), Lasso Regression (Lasso), Elastic Net (EN), Linear Regression (LR), Decision Tree Regression (DTR), K Neighbors Regression (KNR), Random Forest Regression (RFR), Extra Trees Regression (ETR), AdaBoost Regression (ABR) and Gradient Boosting Regression (GBR) were compared to construct a more accurate retrieval model by using the UAV hyper spectral remote sensing and ground monitoring data. And then the TN concentration was estimated after the process of dimensionality reduction and compressed sensing denoing. Finally, spatial heterogeneity of the TN concentration was analyzed in four sensitive areas of the Miyun reservoir. The results demonstrated that among the tested algorithms the Extra Trees Regression was best suitable for the construction of a TN concentration retrieval model on the basis of UAV hyper spectral data, and its absolute squared error was 0.000065. The spatial distribution of the TN showed that the concentration was highest within the water area of the Bulaotun village and the Houbajiazhuang village, while it was relatively low for the Chao river dam and Bai river dam. Additionally, no significant differences regarding the concentrations were shown in the single UAV flight area except the Houbajia village, which indicated that the water quality in Miyun reservoir was relatively stable and changed in a small interval. These conclusions can provide scientific references for water quality monitoring and management in the water reservoir.

Oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) is a genetically heterogeneous disease and is most inherited in an autosomal recessive manner. The characteristic manifestation of OCA is due to disfunction of melanin synthesis. OCA1 is the most severe subtype of OCA and is caused by homozygous or compound heterozygous variants in tyrosinase (TYR) gene, which is the key gene for melanin synthesis. This study aimed to identify the genetic variants of a northern Chinese family with OCA1. Clinical information and peripheral blood samples were collected. PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing were used to detect the entire exons and adjacent flanking sequences of TYR gene. Functional prediction of variants was performed by various bioinformatic analyses, while the pathogenicity classification of variants was evaluated according to ACMG standards and guidelines. A missense variant NM_000372.5:c.107G > C;NP_000363.1:p.C36S was discovered in TYR gene which converted cysteine to serine. Another variant in intron, NM_000372.5:c.1037–7 T > A, also affected the function of TYR gene. We verified the pathogenicity of the intron variant with a pCAS2 mini‐gene based splicing assay and found that c.1037–7 T > A led to an insertion of 5 bp upstream from the common acceptor site of exon 3, which caused a frameshift TYR:c.1037–7 T > A:p.G346Efs*11. The results showed that the compound heterozygous variants c.107G > C:p.C36S and c.1037–7 T > A:p.G346Efs*11 of TYR gene were the pathogenic variants for this OCA1 family. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to trace the research history of diseases and pests in rubber tree and explore the potential for their natural control, a bibliometric analysis was conducted based on relevant documents retrieved from the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science (WoS) core collection SCI-E database. VOSviewer software was utilized to analyze the research distribution, scientific collaboration, knowledge structure, and research frontiers. The results show that annual publications on the diseases and pests of rubber tree have increased rapidly after 2005 after a long period of emergence and fluctuation. A total of 624 relevant publications from 51 countries/regions were identified. China was the most productive country with 152 documents, most of which were related to Colletotrichum leaf disease, powdery mildew, and other emerging diseases of rubber tree. France and Brazil produced rich research to tackle South American leaf blight, and have established a close collaborative relationship. Based on the analysis of themes and trend topics, pathogenicity mechanisms of fungal pathogens and plant defense mechanisms are currently hot topics. By further looking into the research, the defense-related genes of rubber tree and antagonistic mechanisms behind candidate biocontrol agents reveal great potential in developing natural control strategies.
