12. Edge‐Rich Pt−O−Ce Sites in CeO2 Supported Patchy Atomic‐Layer Pt Enable a Non‐CO Pathway for Efficient Methanol Oxidation.

Abstract

Rational design of efficient methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) catalyst that undergo non‐CO pathway is essential to resolve the long‐standing poisoning issue. However, it remains a huge challenge due to the rather difficulty in maximizing the non‐CO pathway by the selective coupling between the key *CHO and *OH intermediates. Here, we report a high‐performance electrocatalyst of patchy atomic‐layer Pt epitaxial growth on CeO2 nanocube (Pt ALs/CeO2) with maximum electronic metal‐support interaction for enhancing the coupling selectively. The small‐size monolayer material achieves an optimal geometrical distance between edge Pt−O−Ce sites and *OH absorbed on CeO2, which well restrains the dehydrogenation of *CHO, resulting in the non‐CO pathway. Meanwhile, the *CHO/*CO intermediate generated at inner Pt−O−Ce sites can migrate to edge, inducing the subsequent coupling reaction, thus avoiding poisoning while promoting reaction efficiency. Consequently, Pt ALs/CeO2 exhibits exceptionally catalytic stability with negligible degradation even under 1000 s pure CO poisoning operation and high mass activity (14.87 A/mgPt), enabling it one of the best‐performing alkali‐stable MOR catalysts. Abstract

Due to the poor service environment of the thickening oil drill pipe, the piercing leakage and fracture failure often occur in the thickening transition. In this paper, the FEA is used to analyze the effect of the geometric structure change of the thickening zone of the drill pipe on the flow field characteristics of drilling fluid circulation by using the ANSYS CFD fluid calculation module and taking the API thickening drill pipe as an example. The study results show that, when drilling fluid circulates, the negative pressure in and out of the pipe thickening zone is larger, and the eddy current flow will be generated by the larger negative pressure. And the change of the transition arc radius and the $m_{\text{iu}}$ in the thickening zone will have a great influence on the flow field pressures. The variation of $m_{\text{eu}}$ has a great influence on the negative pressure of the annulus flow field, while the change of $L_{\text{eu}}$ and $L_{\text{iu}}$ has little effect on the characteristics of the flow field of in-pipe and outer annulus. The research provides a theoretical reference for the design and production of thickening oil drill pipe with high quality and long life.

Abstract

Polymer materials based on fossil resources have brought great convenience to various industries. However, environmental pollution is becoming increasingly conspicuous due to their difficult degradation in nature. Therefore, biodegradable composites are highly desired. In the present work, a simple and feasible preparation approach was presented to fabricate biodegradable and biocompatible composite films including methylcellulose/poly(d,l‐lactide‐co‐glycolide) (MC/PLGA) and methylcellulose/poly(1,4‐butylene succinate) (MC/PBS). The effects of MC/PLGA and MC/PBS mass ratios on the morphology, crystalline state, mechanical properties and thermal stability of the composite films were systematically investigated. At the same time, the influence of thermal compression treatment on mechanical properties (tensile strength and elongation) and the cyclic utilization of the composite films were also estimated. Abstract

Density functional theory calculations were performed to investigate the geometric and energetic properties of Cu n Au m + –(CH 3 OH) and Cu n Au m + –(CH 3 OH) 2 clusters with n + m ⩽ 5. CH 3 OH prefers binding to Cu atom when both Cu and Au site co-exist in the mixed cluster. The alloying makes the Cu atoms more reactive towards CH 3 OH while the Au ones less reactive with n + m ⩽ 4. The red shift of the C–O frequency decreases as the number of methanol molecule increases. The atomic populations and the dissociation channels of the most stable Cu n Au m + –(CH 3 OH) clusters have also been determined and discussed.
