Structural candidates for the super-size cubic carbon phase discovered in the Popigai crater are proposed. They are superhard transparent insulators as the discovered sample and their simulated XRD can partially explain the experimental results.

The configurational space of two-dimensional planar sp2 carbon has been systematically scanned by a random strategy combined with group and graph theory, and 1114 new carbon allotropes have been identified. These allotropes are energetically more favorable than most of the previously predicted 120 carbon allotropes. By fitting the HSE06 band structures of six old structures, we optimize the parameters for a general and transferable tight-binding model for high-throughput band structure calculations. We identified that there are 190 Dirac semimetals, 241 semiconductors, and 683 normal metals among the new allotropes. Interestingly, several stable low-energy carbon systems with exotic electronic properties are proposed, such as type III, type I/II mixed, and type I/III mixed semimetals, which are very rare in planar carbon systems. In particular, one nodal-line semimetal has been discovered among these thousands of allotropes, which is the first nodal-line semimetal in sp2 carbon systems. Our discoveries greatly enrich our knowledge of the structures and electronic properties of the two-dimensional carbon family.

Disruption of intestinal homeostasis is an important event in the development of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and genistein (GEN) is a candidate medicine to prevent IBD. However, the clinical application of GEN is restricted owing to its low oral bioavailability. Herein, a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive nanomaterial (defined as GEN-NP2) containing superoxidase dismutase-mimetic temporally conjugated β-cyclodextrin and 4-(hydroxymethyl)phenylboronic acid pinacol ester-modified GEN was prepared. GEN-NP2 effectively delivered GEN to the inflammation site and protected GEN from rapid metabolism and elimination in the gastrointestinal tract. In response to high ROS levels, GEN was site-specifically released and accumulated at inflammatory sites. Mechanistically, GEN-NP2 effectively increased the expression of estrogen receptor β (ERβ), simultaneously reduced the expression of proinflammatory mediators (apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC) and Caspase1-p20), attenuated the infiltration of inflammatory cells, promoted autophagy of intestinal epithelial cells, inhibited the secretion of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), modulated the gut microbiota, and ultimately alleviated colitis. In addition, the oral administration of these nanoparticles showed excellent safety, thereby providing confidence in the further development of precise treatments for IBD.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has become the most common chronic liver disorders in the world, and yet has no approved pharmacotherapy due to the etiology is complex. In the last ten years, increasing evidence have identified the environmental pollutants as risk factors for MAFLD. However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Our study found that bromoacetic acid (BAA, a typical kind of environmental toxin) increased triglycerides and total cholesterol levels as well as induced obvious hepatic steatosis and inflammation. The lipidomics showed that ferroptosis was implicated in the environmental toxin-linked MAFLD. Besides, the analysis of microbial metabolomics showed significant change of gut microbiome in BAA groups and the content of gut microbiota metabolite (glycochenodeoxycholate, GCDCA) increased sharply. In vitro study, we observed features of ferroptotic cells by transmission electron microscopy after BAA/GCDCA treatment. Besides, we demonstrated that BAA/GCDCA significantly increased iron contents, with upregulating transferrin receptor (TFR) and acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family 4 (ACSL4) expression levels. By contrast, iron chelator or silencing TFR relieved BAA/GCDCA-induced lipid metabolism disorder and inflammation. What's more, the interaction between TFR and ACSL4 was also identified. Taken together, we found that, in response to environmental toxin, gut microbiota metabolite GCDCA activates TFR-ACSL4-mediated ferroptosis, which triggered subsequent lipid metabolism disorder and inflammation. Moreover, these findings firstly highlighted the functional relevance among ferroptosis, lipid metabolism and gut microbiota metabolite during environmental pollutant exposure, which shed light on the deep mechanism of environmental toxin-related MAFLD, providing potential targets for the prevention of MAFLD.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, widespread utilization of disinfectants has led to a tremendous increase in the generation of disinfection byproducts worldwide. Bromoacetic acid (BAA), one of the common disinfection byproducts in the environment, has triggered public concern because of its adverse effects on urinary system in mammals. Nevertheless, the BAA-induced nephrotoxicity and potential mechanism in birds still remains obscure. According to the detected content in the Taihu Lake Basin, the model of BAA exposure in chicken was established at doses of 0, 3, 300, 3000 μg/L for 4 weeks. Our results indicated that BAA exposure caused kidney swelling and structural disarrangement. BAA led to disorder in renal function (CRE, BUN, UA) and increased apoptosis (Bax, Bcl-2, caspase3). BAA suppressed the expression of mitochondrial biogenesis genes (PGC-1α, Nrf1, TFAM) and OXPHOS complex I genes (ND1, ND2, ND3, ND4, ND4L, ND5, ND6). Subsequently, BAA destroyed the expression of Nrf2 antioxidant reaction genes (Nrf2, Keap1, HO-1, NQO1, GCLM, GCLC). Furthermore, renal oxidative damage led to disorder in uric acid metabolism genes (Mrp2, Mrp4, Bcrp, OAT1, OAT2, OAT3) and exacerbated destruction in renal function. Overall, our study provided insights into the potential mechanism of BAA-induced nephrotoxicity, which were important for the clinical monitoring and prevention of BAA.

The widespread application of bisphenols (BPs) has made them ubiquitous in the environment. Although the side effects of bisphenol A (BPA) substitutes have received increasing attention, studies on their reproductive toxicity remain lacking. In this research, the effects of BPA and its substitutes, including bisphenol S (BPS), bisphenol F (BPF), and bisphenol AF (BPAF), on the male reproductive system were evaluated. Results proved that these BPs disturbed germ cell proliferation, induced germ cell apoptosis, and perturbed sperm physiologies and spermatogenesis, which resulted from the disruption of testosterone (T) biosynthesis in Leydig cells (LCs). Importantly, in vitro and in vivo studies indicated that the exhausted cholesterol in LCs accounted for the reduced T production. Furthermore, the knockdown of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) remarkably ameliorated the downregulation of cholesterogenesis-related genes (i.e., Hmgcs1, Hmgcr, and Srebf2), indicating that PPARα played a critical role in BPs-induced testicular dysfunction. Overall, our studies indicated that BPS, BPF, and BPAF could induce testicular toxic effects similar to that of BPA, which were associated with the PPARα pathway.

Based on first-principles calculations, the ground state configuration (Cmma-CH) of a hydrogenated biphenylene sheet ( Science 2021, 372, 852) is carefully identified from hundreds of possible candidates generated by RG2 code ( Phys. Rev. B. 2018, 97, 014104). Cmma-CH contains four inequivalent benzene molecules in its crystalline cell due to its Cmma symmetry. Hydrogen atoms bond to carbon atoms in each benzene with a boat-like (DDUDDU) up/down sequence and reversed boat-1 (UUDUUD) sequence in adjacent benzene rings. Cmma-CH is energetically less stable than the proposed allotropes of hydrogenated graphene, but the formation energy for hydrogenating a biphenylene sheet is remarkably lower than that for hydrogenating graphene to graphane. Our results of mechanical and dynamical stability also confirm that Cmma-CH is a stable 2D hydrocarbon, which is expected to be realized experimentally. Especially, biphenylene undergoes a transition from normal metal to a wide band gap insulator (4.645 eV) by hydrogenation to Cmma-CH, which has potential applications in nanodevices at elevated temperatures and high voltages.

A modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) sample preparation method coupled with gas chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of amide/dinitroaniline/substituted urea herbicides in bivalve shellfish samples. A molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) synthesized through bulk polymerization exhibited strong group–selective interactions with pigments, including β-carotene, chlorophyll A, and fucoxanthin, in bivalve shellfish extracts. Afterward, a modified QuEChERS method based on MIPs and primary and secondary amines was established to effectively remove matrix components in bivalve shellfish samples. Under the optimal conditions, good linearities were obtained in all of the analytes with R2 larger than 0.9995. Limits of quantification were in the range of 0.03–8.88 μg kg−1, respectively. The recoveries of all of the herbicides spiked at three concentrations of 10, 25, and 50 μg kg−1 in blank bivalve shellfish samples ranged from 81 to 109% with intra-day and inter-day relative standard deviations less than 8%, respectively. Results demonstrated that the proposed QuEChERS method coupled with GC–MS/MS was applied successfully to simultaneously determine 26 amide/dinitroaniline/substituted urea herbicides in bivalve shellfish.

Molecularly imprinted silica layers coated to quantum dots (MIP-QDs) were successfully fabricated and applied as the fluorescence probe for highly selective and sensitive determination of diethylstilbestrol (DES). Scanning electron microscopy, Transmission electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy indicated successful grafting of molecularly imprinted silica layers onto the surface of QDs. Furthermore, the fluorescence assay based on the MIP-QDs showed excellent selectivity and fluorescence quenching capability in optimal conditions and a good linear relationship was obtained in the range of 2.0 × 10−4–10.0 mg/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.9980. The limit of detection of 5.9 × 10−5 mg/L was acquired. Good recoveries ranging from 95.5% to 107.5% were achieved with relative standard deviations (RSD) below 8.4% for seawater and river water samples. The fabricated MIP-QDs were successfully employed as the recognition and response element of an microtitration 96-well fluorescence detection system. Good recoveries ranging from 82.9% to 102.0% with RSDs below 10.0% were obtained for seawater and river water samples. Results demonstrate that simple, rapid, and sensitive DES determination method based on MIP-QDs can be successfully applied to DES residue detection in seawater and river water samples.

A simple QuEChERS method coupled with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC–MS/MS) was developed to improve the extraction efficiency of lipophilic marine toxins (yessotoxins, dinophysistoxins, okadaic acid, azazspiracids, and spirolides) in fresh and processed shellfish products. The proposed method included freezing and dispersive solid-phase extraction with graphene oxide as the sorbent to clean complex matrices containing lipids (e.g., free fatty acids) and pigments. Quantification was performed using matrix-matched calibration curves. Recoveries were 85%–117.4% and the relative standard deviation for precision was less than 10% for marine toxins in fresh and processed shellfish products. The limits of detection (signal-to-noise = 3) and quantification (signal-to-noise = 10) were 0.10–1.47 and 0.32–4.92 μg/kg, respectively. The validated QuEChERS method, coupled with UPLC–MS/MS, was applied successfully to determine lipophilic marine toxins in fresh and processed shellfish samples.

Occurrence, spatiotemporal variation, sources, and ecological risks of 20 organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) in water and sediments from Hangzhou Bay (HZB) and its adjacent East China Sea (ECS) were investigated in this study. The concentrations of OPFRs (∑OPFR) in water ranged from 0.51 ng/L to 885 ng/L, with chlorinated OPFRs having the highest value. For sediments, ∑OPFR ranged from 2.93 ng/g, dry weight (dw) to 37.8 ng/g, dw. The ∑OPFR in the water and sediments of HZB in summer was significantly (p 0.05) higher than that in autumn. Additionally, the pollution of OPFRs in HZB was higher than that in ECS, and the high-concentration areas appeared in the north and south banks of HZB and near the coast of ECS. Principal component analysis-multiple linear regression showed that the OPFRs in this region were mainly from industrial products (e.g., polyurethane foam/paint/coating/textiles/product processing). In terms of aquatic environments, ecological risks were in a low (∑RQs0.1) to moderate (0.1∑RQs1) level, with regard to median exposure levels, a moderate risk (0.1∑RQs1) was found in the sediments during autumn. This study can provide new insights into the OPFR pollution characteristic and ecological risk in a specific eco-environment.

The bromoacetic acid (BAA) is one of the most teratogenic and neurotoxic disinfection byproducts. Birds take environmental water as their habitat and are inevitably affected by BAA in the environment. However, the neurotoxicity caused by BAA in birds has not been reported and the mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we chose chickens as the avian model to explore the effects of different concentrations of BAA on the brain tissues. Here, we selected the 3 μg/L dose of BAA detected in Tai Lake basin as a reference, and designed 1-, 100-, and 1000-fold of the environmental exposure dose as the experimental doses to explore the neurotoxicity of BAA in birds. Results showed that BAA increased the number of pyknotic nuclear neurons, deformed vascular sheaths, and glial cells in the brain. BAA inhibited the activity of antioxidant enzymes and the expression of antioxidant genes. With the increase of BAA concentration, the oxidative stress-responsive transcription factor NF-κB was activated. Furthermore, BAA remarkably changed the expression of lipid metabolism related genes (i.e., acc, gpat, hmgr, pparα, cpt1, and ampkα). Importantly, BAA decreased the mRNA and protein expression levels of autophagy-related genes (i.e., atg5, ulk1, beclin1, and lc3). Meantime, BAA increased the mRNA and protein levels of apoptotic and pro-apoptotic genes, such as p53, bax, cytochrome c, caspase-9, and caspase-3. Overall, our study provided new insights into the potential neurotoxic effects of BAA in birds, which was important for the clinical monitoring and prevention of BAA.

The spatiotemporal variations, influencing factors and potential sources, as well as the ecological/health risks of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were systematically investigated in seawater, sediment, and fish from Xiangshan Bay, China, one of the most important and oldest domestic marine aquaculture bases. The average concentrations of ΣPAHs in seawater, sediment and fish were 150 ± 70.0 ng/L, 276 ± 271 μg/kg (dry weight, dw), and 434 ± 151 μg/kg (dw), respectively. Naphthalene, phenanthrene, fluoranthene, benzo(b)fluoranthene and pyrene were the dominant contaminants in all samples. The highest PAH concentrations in the seawater and sediment samples occurred in the inner bay where the mariculture and industry are clustered. Seasonal differences were observed in the seawater samples but not in the sediment samples. Among all 15 fish species, large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) (775 μg/kg (dw)), red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) (749 μg/kg (dw)), and flathead grey mullet (Mugil cephalus) (637 μg/kg (dw)) had relatively high PAH accumulation concentrations in muscle tissue. According to the molecular diagnostic ratio method, the PAHs in seawater mainly originated from a mixed source of petroleum and combustion, whereas biomass/coal combustion sources were identified for sediment. The results obtained from the risk quotient (for seawater), sediment quality guidelines and toxic equivalence quotients (for seawater and sediment) methods showed that the ecological risks posed by PAHs were generally at a low to moderate level. Potentially toxic effects existed from PAH-contaminated fish consumption, and the resulting potential carcinogenic risk was also slightly higher than the recommended guidelines (10−6).

In this study, marine mussels (Mytilus coruscus) were exposed to three typical PAEs (dimethyl phthalate [DMP], dibutyl phthalate [DBP] and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate [DEHP]) at a range of doses for different times to investigate the ecotoxicological effects. The accumulation of the three PAE congeners in M. coruscus exhibited the following trend: DEHP > DBP > DMP. The antioxidant response of mussel gonadal tissue was enhanced with increasing concentrations of PAEs. For the DBP and DEHP treatment groups, glutathione (GSH) worked in concert with antioxidant enzymes to protect cells against reactive oxygen species (ROS), while GSH played a prominent antioxidant role in the DMP-treated group. The metabolomics results revealed that PAE exposure disrupted the metabolic balance of mussels. Overall, PAEs affect the amino acid metabolism, lipid metabolism, energy metabolism, osmoregulation and nerve activities of mussels. Our results provide further insight into the toxicological effects of PAEs on marine organisms.

The pollution characteristics, potential sources, and potential ecological risk of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were investigated in the Hangzhou Bay (HZB) and East China Sea (ECS). Total OCPs concentration ranged from 2.62 to 102.07 ng/L and 4.41 to 75.79 μg/kg in the seawater and sediment samples, with PCBs concentration in the range of 0.40-51.75 ng/L and 0.80-45.54 μg/kg, respectively. The OCPs were positively correlated with nutrients, whereas PCBs presented a negative correlation. The newly imported dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) in HZB is mainly the mixing of technical DDT and dicofol sources. The PCB source composition is more likely related to the mixture of Kanechlor 300, 400, Aroclor 1016, 1242, and Aroclor 1248. Risk assessment results indicate that OCPs posed low risk in seawater. The potential risk of DDTs in the sediments is a cause of concern.

Atrazine (ATR) is one of the most commonly used herbicides that could directly impair the growth and health of organisms in mariculture areas and adversely affect human health through the food chain. This study investigated the contaminant occurrence, migration, and transformation of ATR and three of its chlorinated metabolites, namely deethylatrazine (DEA), deisopropylatrazine (DIA), and didealkylatrazine (DDA), in surface seawater, sediment, and aquatic organisms from the Xiangshan Harbor. ATR was detected in all samples, while DIA and DDA were only respectively detected in aquatic and seawater samples. The distribution of ATR and its metabolites presented different patterns depending on the geographic location and showed a higher level in the aquaculture area than that in the non-aquaculture area. The bioaccumulation of ATR in aquaculture organisms showed that benthic organisms, such as Ditrema, and Sinonovacula constricta (Sin), had increased levels. The ecological risks indicated that ATR posed medium or high risks to algae in the water phase of the study area. The microcosm experiment showed that the main fate of ATR in the simulated microenvironment was sedimentation, which followed the first-order kinetic equation. The ATR in the sediment could be enriched 3-5 times in Sin, and its major metabolites were DEA and DIA.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine-disrupting chemical. Its influence on lipid homeostasis remains to be proven. In this study, the obese model of laying hens were induced using high-fat diet (HFD) to determine the lipid metabolism interference of BPA, especially its influence on estrogen receptors (ERs) and oxidative damage, at the dose of tolerable daily intake (TDI, 50 μg/kg body weight [BW]/day) and no observable adverse effect level (NOAEL, 5000 μg/kg BW/day). The results demonstrated that the TDI dose of BPA interacted with ERα more effectively than the NOAEL dose of BPA. The TDI dose of BPA increased the expression of ERα (esr1), which further changed the expression of lipid metabolism-related genes, such as cpt-1, lpl, creb1, and apov1. Furthermore, the abdominal fat rate, hematoxylin-eosin staining of adipocytes, and the average area of the hens were reduced. Therefore, the TDI dose of BPA played an estrogen-compensating role and weakened the effect of HFD on obesity in aged hens. By contrast, BPA at NOAEL dose exhibited great oxidative stress, which remarkably inhibited the activities of antioxidant-related enzymes (total superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase) and promoted the excessive accumulation of lipid peroxidation products (malondialdehyde). Moreover, the increase in oxidative stress corresponded well with the increase in the expression of fat-forming genes (srebp-1, fas, acc, and ppar γ). That is, BPA at NOAEL may accelerate the process of fat formation.

Soy isoflavones (SIFs) are selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) that have anti-inflammatory activities. Our previous study found that estrogen receptor α (ERα) directly regulates the NLRP3 transcription and NLRP3 inflammasome assembly. Therefore, we hypothesized that SIFs alleviate colitis via an ERα-dependent mechanism by targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome. The influence of SIFs on colitis and the potential mechanisms were thoroughly determined in this study. The results suggested that SIFs ameliorated dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced body weight loss, reduced disease activity index and promoted the recovery of colon pathological damage in mice. Moreover, expression of the NLRP3 inflammasome was significantly inhibited, and the release of IL-1β and IL-18 was suppressed by SIFs. Furthermore, ERα blockade ameliorated DSS-induced inflammatory responses in the intestine, and SIFs markedly suppressed the expression of ERα in a dose-dependent manner. Our study demonstrated that the protective therapeutic action of SIFs on DSS-induced colitis depended on inhibition of ERα and subsequent NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and SIFs are promising therapeutic agents for the treatment of colitis.

A highly selective and sensitive molecularly imprinted electrochemiluminescence (MIECL) sensor was developed based on the multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-enhanced molecularly imprinted quantum dots (MIP-QDs) for the rapid determination of cyfluthrin (CYF). The MIP-QDs fabricated by surface grafting technique exhibited excellent selective recognition to CYF, resulting in a specific decrease of ECL signal at the MWCNT/MIP-QD modified electrode. Under optimal conditions, the MIECL signal was proportional to the logarithm of the CYF concentration in the range of 0.2 &micro, g/L to 1.0 &times, 103 &micro, g/L with a determination coefficient of 0.9983. The detection limit of CYF was 0.05 &micro, g/L, and good recoveries ranging from 86.0% to 98.6% were obtained in practical samples. The proposed MIECL sensor provides a novel, rapid, high sensitivity detection strategy for successfully analyzing CYF in fish and seawater samples.

The widely used crystal structures for both heptazine-based and triazine-based two-dimensional (2D) graphitic carbon nitride (g-C$_3$N$_4$) are the flat P-6m2 configurations. However, the experimentally synthesized 2D g-C$_3$N$_4$ possess thickness ranging in 0.2-0.5 nm, indicating that the theoretically used flat P-6m2 configurations are not the correct ground states. In this work, we propose three new corrugated structures P321, P3m1 and Pca21 with energies of 66 (86), 77 (87) and 78 (89) meV/atom lower than that of the corresponding heptazine-based (triazine-based) g-C$_3$N$_4$ in flat P-6m2 configuration, respectively. These corrugated structures have very similar periodic patterns to the flat P-6m2 ones and they are difficult to be distinguished from each other according to their top-views. The optimized thicknesses of the three corrugated structures ranging in 1.347-3.142 {\AA} are in good agreement with the experimental results. The first-principles results show that these corrugated structural candidates are also semiconductors with band gaps slightly larger than those of the correspondingly flat P-6m2 ones. Furthermore, they possess also suitable band edge positions for sun-light-driven water-splitting at both $pH=0$ and $pH=7$ environments. Based on first-principles method we predict a new low-energy Stone-Wales graphene SW40, which has an orthorhombic lattice with Pbam symmetry and 40 carbon atoms in its crystalline cell forming well-arranged Stone-Wales patterns. The calculated total energy of SW40 is just about 133 meV higher than that of graphene, indicating its excellent stability exceeds all the previously proposed graphene allotropes. We find that SW40 processes intrinsic Type-III Dirac-cone (Phys. Rev. Lett., 120, 237403, 2018) formed by band-crossing of a local linear-band and a local flat-band, which can result in highly anisotropic Fermions in the system. Interestingly, such intrinsic type-III Dirac-cone can be effectively tuned by inner-layer strains and it will be transferred into Type-II and Type-I Dirac-cones under tensile and compressed strains, respectively. Finally, a general tight-binding model was constructed to understand the electronic properties nearby the Fermi-level in SW40. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can disrupt the gastrointestinal endocrine system and induce oxidative stress, which eventually leads to intestinal toxicity. Genistein (Gen) has a beneficial effect on the physiological functions of the gastrointestinal tract and can alleviate EDCs damage. As an estrogen-like substance, Gen may also synergize the deleterious influence of EDCs. Therefore, the targeting and concentration of Gen must be controlled during its application. In this study, a novel reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive nanomaterial (Gen-NM-2) containing Tempol conjugated β-cyclodextrin and Gen was prepared. The nano-polymer exhibits a uniform rod-like morphology with an average diameter of 833 ± 12 nm and a negative zeta-potential of -20.3 ± 3.7 mV. Gen-NM-2 protected Gen from rapid metabolism in gastrointestinal tract and displayed a strong ROS scavenging ability. In response to high ROS levels, this material can effectively locate the target site and release Gen, which then exerted its effect by reducing the ROS content and regulating the ERβ signaling pathway. Owing to its high bioavailability, Gen-NM-2 at relatively low doses can reduce the intestinal cytotoxicity of EDCs, thus providing a basis for the development of EDCs detoxification therapy.

A highly effective molecularly imprinted electrochemiluminescence sensor was constructed for prometryn determination in environmental and biological samples by using perovskite quantum dots coated with a molecularly imprinted silica layer (MIP/CsPbBr3-QDs) as the recognition and response element. MIP/CsPbBr3-QDs were immobilized on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) through electropolymerization, and the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) response of MIP/CsPbBr3-QDs could be motivated under the condition of H2O2 as co-reactant. ECL signal was selectively quenched with prometryn by hindering electron transfer and directly proportional to the logarithm of prometryn concentration (0.10–500.0 μg/L) with a correlation coefficient of 0.9960. Limits of detection in fish and seawater samples were 0.010 μg/kg and 0.050 μg/L, respectively. Excellent recoveries of 88.0%–106.0% were acquired for fish and seawater samples with a relative standard deviation below 4.2%. The constructed MIECL sensor based on MIP/CsPbBr3-QDs showed good stability, accuracy, and precision for sensitive detection of prometryn in aquaculture products and environmental samples.

The surface molecularly imprinted layer coated CdSe/CdS/ZnS quantum dots (MIP-CdSe/CdS/ZnS QDs) was developed and utilized as the selective optosensing materials of the fluorescence nanosensor to diethylstilbestrol (DES) and cypermethrin (CYP), respectively. The surface morphology, functional group and fluorescence spectroscopy were conducted to demonstrate the fluorescence quenching response of MIP-CdSe/CdS/ZnS QDs to DES/CYP. Under their individual optimal conditions, good linear relationships for DES and CYP were observed in the range of 0.050–20.0 mg/L and 0.10–20.0 mg/L. In addition, the recoveries reached a satisfactory level of 91.4%–101.5 % with an RSD value less than 5.4 % for the samples of seawater and fish. The corresponding limits of detection in seawater and fish can reach 0.004 μg/L and 3.0 μg/kg (DES), and 0.3 μg/L and 5.0 μg/kg (CYP). This study provided a general strategy for fabricating an efficient fluorescence nanosensor based on a dual-template MIP-CdSe/CdS/ZnS QDs to selectively detect different analytes in their individual optimum conditions.

A new type of molecularly imprinted silica layers appended to quantum dots (MIP-QDs) for saxitoxin (STX) was fabricated through the surface grafting technique. The MIP-QDs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and imprinting and selective fluorescence quenching properties in different solutions. Results demonstrated that the synthesized MIP-QDs exhibited excellent selective fluorescence quenching to STX because of the complementary imprinted cavities on the surface of MIP-QDs. Furthermore, a fluorescence nanosensor based on MIP-QDs was fabricated for the selective detection of STX under optimal experimental conditions. A good linear relationship in the range of 20.0-100.0 μg/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.9988 was obtained. Excellent recoveries ranging from 89.4% to 102.4% with the RSD below 6.3% were obtained for the shellfish samples at three spiked levels of STX. The detection limit of STX in shellfish samples was 0.3 μg/kg. The results indicated that the developed fluorescence nanosensor was highly selective and sensitive enough to detect STX in shellfish samples.

A simple, straightforward multi-class analytical method was developed for the identification of 140 veterinary drug residues and other contaminants in poultry muscle, ranging from very polar to reasonably non-polar drugs, including basic, amphoteric, and neutral compounds. The method was based on extraction with acetonitrile–aqueous ethanol aqueous, purification by n-hexane, and low temperature clean-up and analysis in a single analytical run by ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization and tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC–ESI–MS/MS) operating in positive multiple reaction monitoring (MRM). For most of the target analytes, the optimized pretreatment processes led to no significant interference on the analysis of the sample matrix. Limits of quantification (LOQs) varied from 0.05 to 10 µg kg−1. Average analyte recoveries ranged from 60 to 139%, and the intra-day and inter-day precision were 2–30% and 4–29%, respectively. For over 90% of the analytes, the average recovery values ranged from 70 to 120% with the corresponding RSD below 20%, which were acceptable and in agreement with the criteria of Commission Decision 2002/657/EC. This methodology has been successfully applied for the analysis of poultry muscle samples from local markets (China). Quinolones, tetracyclines, sulfonamides, and amantadine were frequently detected in poultry samples.
