Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common solid tumor in children. Studies showed that long-chain noncoding RNA (lncRNA) HCP5 played an important role in tumorigenesis, but its role in NB remained unclear. This study aims to determine the role of HCP5 in NB and its possible molecular mechanism. Methods We analyzed the expression levels of miRNA-186-5p and HCP5 in neuroblastoma and neuroblastoma cell lines SHSY-5Y, Kelly, NBL-S and SK-N-AS, and explored their roles. Results We found that the HCP5 expression was up-regulated in NB tissues and cells. The higher the HCP5 expression in NB cells, the stronger the ability of clone formation. Down regulation of the HCP5 expression inhibited the proliferation of NB cells and the growth of subcutaneous transplanted tumor in nude mice. HCP5 could competitively bind miR-186-5p, while miR-186-5p could target the 3′-UTR of MAP3K2. The expression level of miR-186-5p was down regulated while the expression level of MAP3K2 was up-regulated in NB tissues. The expression level of HCP5 and miR-186-5p, the expression level of miR-186-5p and MAP3K2 were negatively correlated. The decreased proliferation of NB cells induced by down-regulation of HCP5 expression can be counteracted by miR-186-5p inhibitor or MAP3K2, and vice versa. Conclusion This study showed that lncRNA HCP5, as ceRNA, regulated MAP3K2 to promote NB progression through competitive binding of miR-186-5p. We revealed a new signaling pathway that mediates NB, which provided a new target for the diagnosis and treatment of NB.

A sonochemical reactor was developed to study the ultrasound-assisted cyanide extraction of gold from gold ore at low temperature. The effects of ultrasound on gold leaching in low temperature and conventional conditions were investigated. At the low temperature of 10 °C, ultrasound-assisted extraction increased extraction rate of gold by 0.6%–0.8% and reduced the gold content of cyanide tailings to 0.28 g/t in the leaching of gold concentrate and cyanide tailings, respectively. At the conventional temperature of 25 °C, ultrasound-assisted extraction obtained a 0.1% higher extraction rate of gold compared with conventional extraction, with the unit consumption of NaCN reduction of 15%. The analysis of kinetic model also demonstrated that sonication indeed improved the reaction of gold leaching greatly. The mineralogy and morphology of ore were further analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and particle size analyzer to explore the strengthening mechanism of gold leaching. The results showed that the ore particles were smashed, the ore particle surface was peeled, the passive film was destroyed and the reaction resistance decreased under ultrasonic processing. Therefore, the extraction rate of gold was improved and the extraction time was shortened significantly in ultrasound-assisted cyanide extraction.

In order to bioremediating of phorate contaminated soil by microbial consortia, three degrading bacteria in different combinations were inoculated into the phorate contaminated soil. The residual phorate and its metabolites were determined. The results showed that in 42 days the degradation rates of phorate by any two bacteria (Brevibacterium frigoritolerans +Bacillus aerophilus, Bacillus aerophilus +Pseudomonas fulva and Brevibacterium frigoritolerans +Pseudomonas fulva) were 94.09%, 97.15% and 97.42%, respectively. However the degradation rate of phorate by three bacteria was 98.31%. The microbial consortia consisted of three degrading bacteria had the lowest content of phorate sulfone and phorate sulfoxide in soil. Therefore, the microbial consortia consisted of three degrading bacteria could significantly reduce the residual phorate and its metabolites in soil.

Thermal energy storage has been attracting more and more attentions due mainly to its distinctive features on peak-load shifting capability for systems with renewable energy involved. To further improve the overall thermal efficiency for charging/discharging processes, heat transfer techniques to enhance phase change heat transfer are typically employed. This paper introduced a novel concept of partially-filling ratio of metal foam into PCM. The melting heat transfer can be expected to be further enhanced with partially filled metal foams. To this aim, an axisymmetric two-dimensional computational model was established. A series of numerical simulations were carried out to study the effect of filling ratio of metal foam on the melting performance of a TES tube. Good agreement was achieved through the comparison of temperatures obtained from simulation and experimental measurements. Based on the results, it can be concluded as follows: if the goal was to enhance heat transfer simultaneously to save material cost, the suggested filling ratio was 0.90; if saving material cost was the aim, the filling ratio can be further reduced to 0.85. The proposed novel TES unit with partially-filled metal foam outperformed other competing heat transfer technique.

Power ultrasound that uses the local high-temperature and high-pressure environment generated by ultrasonic cavitation to accelerate or change the chemical reaction process has been widely used in the petrochemical industry. Unfortunately, huge heat is inevitably conducted by tool head and ultrasonic horn to the piezoelectric ceramics while the transducer is dealing with high-temperature liquid medium such as the pitch of 180°C. In order to prevent the heat influencing the piezoelectric ceramics, a novel high-temperature high power sandwich piezoelectric ultrasonic transducer is proposed. The frequency equations of the ultrasonic vibrator are deduced and the corresponding correctness is verified by the modal through the finite element method (FEM)and COMSOL software. In addition, the heat conduction in the transducer while dealing with high-temperature liquid is analyzed by FEM analysis to ensure the temperature of piezoelectric ceramics is below the Curie temperature. Finally, an experimental prototype is manufactured and a high-temperature liquid medium experiment has been implemented. It indicates that the ultrasonic transducer designed in this study is proved to be able to work stably in the 180°C oil bath.

Both the Swenson and the Soave procedures have been adapted as transanal approaches. Our purpose is to compare the outcomes and complications between transanal Swenson and Soave procedures. This clinical analysis involved a retrospective series of 148 pediatric patients with HD from Dec, 2001, to Dec, 2015. Perioperative/operative characteristics, postoperative complications, and outcomes between the 2 groups were analyzed. Students’ t-test and chi-squared analysis were performed. In total 148 patients (Soave 69, Swenson 79) were included in our study. Mean follow-up was 3.5 years. There are no significant differences in overall hospital stay and bowel function.
