Aim. We report the dynamic anatomical sequence of human cortical gray matter development from late childhood to young adults using VBM and ROI-based methods.Method. The structural MRI of 91 normal individuals ranging in age from 6 to 26 years was obtained and the GMV for each region was measured.Results. Our results showed that the earliest loss of GMV occurred in left olfactory, right precuneus, caudate, left putamen, pallidum, and left middle temporal gyrus. In addition, the trajectory of maturational and aging showed a linear decline in GMV on both cortical lobes and subcortical regions. The most loss of gray matter was observed in the parietal lobe and basal ganglia, whereas the less loss occurred in the temporal lobe and hippocampus, especially in the left middle temporal pole, which showed no decline until 26 years old. Moreover, the volumes of GM, WM, and CSF were also assessed for linear age effects, showing a significant linear decline in GM with age and a significant linear increase in both WM and CSF with age.Interpretation. Overall, our findings lend support to previous findings of the normal brain development of regional cortex, and they may help in understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders.

The abdomen-rubbing qigong exercise was first developed by Fang Kai, a Xin’an medical practitioner. It’s an essential part of Xin’an health preservation works. This health preservation method integrates massage with Daoyin and integrates meridian theory with Zangxiang theory. It’s safe, simple and has no side effects. Practice of this qigong exercise can protect the spleen and stomach, tonify qi and essence, harmonize Ying-Nutrients and Wei-Defense, unblock meridians and circulate qi. This paper aims to summarize and promote this exercise.

The soils from residential areas of Xi'an city were selected as a case area. The absolute principal component scores-multivariate linear regression (APCS-MLR) model and the ordinary kriging interpolation were combined to identify and apportion the pollution sources of soil heavy metals (As, Ba, Co, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sr, Zn,V), the percentage of contribution of every source for every element, and the spatial distribution characteristics of contribution rates. Compared with the background values of cinnamon, which is the main soil type in Xi 'an, the accumulation levels of Pb, Cu, Sr, Co, Zn, Ba, Ni, As, Mn, V in soil of urban residential areas in Xi'an city decreased in turn. The standard-exceeding ratios of Ba, Co, Cu, Pb, Sr, Zn were higher than those of other studied elements. Three main pollution sources of soil heavy metals in residential areas were natural source, traffic sources, and fossil fuel combustion source, respectively. Natural source was the main source of As, Mn, Ni, V in studied residential areas. The average contribution rate of natural source for As, Mn, Ni, V was 69.63%, 74.28%, 68.65%, 77.09%, respectively. The fossil fuel combustion was the second largest contributor for their accumulation in these studied residential areas. Its contribution rate for As, Mn, Ni was 23.07%, 19.09%, 23.13%, respectively. The contribution of traffic emissions was lower. Their spatial distribution characteristics tended to be lower in west and higher in east. The average contribution rates of fossil fuel combustion source for Co, Pb, Sr, Zn were 59.84%, 42.22%, 44.50%, 44.44%, respectively. The performance of spatial distribution was increased gradually from the city center to the outside. The sources of Ba were given priority to natural source and fossil fuel combustion source, and the average contribution rates were 41.67% and 48.27%, respectively. The contribution rate of fossil fuel combustion source for Ba gradually decreased from the center of the city. The contribution rates of natural source, traffic source, and fossil fuel combustion source for Cu were 37.00%, 20.47% and 26.50%, respectively.

To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation of Heart and Lung meridians on the expression of hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide gated potassium channel 2 (HCN 2) mRNA and protein in the myocar-dium of the left ventricle in acute myocardial ischemia (AMI) rats, so as to underlying its mechanism in improving ischemic myocardial injury.A total of 120 male SD rats were randomly divided into normal control, model, EA-Heart Meridian (HT) and EA-Lung Meridian (LU) groups (After AMI, both HCN 2 mRNA and protein expression levels in the model group were significantly decreased in comparison with the normal control group (Both EA stimulation of Heart Meridian and Lung Meridian can improve the expression of HCN 2 mRNA and protein in the myocardium in AMI rats, which existing a delayed effect and meridian specificity.

To study the effect of moxa-smoke inhaling on the respiratory system, so as to provide experimental data and theoretical basis for evaluating the safety of moxa-smoke inhaling during moxibustion treatment.A total of 48 SD rats were randomized into control, low, medium and high moxa-smoke-concentration groups (After 100 days' moxa-smoke inhaling, the contents of TNF-α in the plasma, BALF and lung tissues and IL-1 β in the lung tissue of the low, medium and high concentration moxa-smoke groups, and IL-1 β in the plasma and BALF of the medium and high concentration groups were significantly increased relevant to the control group (Long term inhalation of high concentration of moxa-smoke may lead to inflammatory injury in the lung and bronchial tissues but has no significant effect on the respiratory function in rats. Nevertheless, a good air-ventilation during moxibustion in a treatment room is necessary.

This paper analyzes the stamping process of a rigid gasket, designs a set of progressive die for gasket. Three-position of the die includes the punching, cutting, bending and blanking. And compared with single-process die and compound die, the gasket can obtain better surface quality, the die can prevent poor strength and partial load, and punching hole in the ear and separating bending process can improve the accuracy of stamping parts, it has some reference value for the progressive die of the stamping parts. Throughout the design process, the model of rigid gasket and 3D mold design are established in Pro/E4.0 and PDX, this can significantly shorten the design cycle; the process of open-mode is simulated in the Simulation module.

Globular indexing CAM mechanism is a good indexing mechanism. As the working curve of CAM contour surface is no extending curved surface, there is certain difficulty to design processing. It is new kinds of design method that reverse engineering apply in rapid modeling of curved CAM. In this way, designer can complete curve of CAM reverse modeling, and the rationality of the model is verified. At the same time, it also can reverse modeling and the subsequent development of other products to provide a reference.

Based on equations of gas diffusion equilibrium, a new design method, along with a CAD software package, was developed to improve the efficiency of fruit packaging design. Take guava fruit as a case study, the method we developed was used to calculate unknown pack parameters and simulate the dynamic change of in-pack gas concentrations. When the ratio of headspace and fruit volume was 2.5:1, it expended about 200 h before the equilibrium gas exchange was created. However, in the case of 0.3:1 ratio, it needed only 30 h to obtain the equilibrium state. Simulation results are useful for achieving high quality of package design, especially in the case of long transport distance or long-time storage.

To obtain hydrolysates with high degree of hydrolysis (DH) and scavenging radical activity, tilapia skin gelatin (TSG) was hydrolyzed by properase E and multifect neutral. The optimum hydrolysis condition of each enzyme was determined using the orthogonal experiment, and double-enzyme hydrolysis was further applied. The results showed the tilapia skin gelatin hydrolysate (TSGH) obtained by progressive hydrolysis using multifect neutral and properase E had the highest DH and hydroxyl radical scavenging activity. The IC(50) values of TSGH on scavenging 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical, superoxide anion radical (·O(2)) and hydroxyl radical (·OH) activities were also determined. TSGH was further purified using gel filtration chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, and RP-HPLC. The peptides were identified using nano-LC-ESI mass spectrometry. Finally, two antioxidant peptides were identified and the amino acid sequences were Glu-Gly-Leu (317.33 Da) and Tyr-Gly-Asp-Glu-Tyr (645.21 Da), respectively. The IC(50) values of two peptides on hydroxyl radical scavenging activities were 4.61 μg mL(-1)and 6.45 μg mL(-1), respectively. Therefore, the results demonstrated that the hydrolysates of TSG prepared by multifect neutral and properase E could serve as a source of peptides with high antioxidant activity. It provided a scientific basis for the preparation of antioxidant peptides.

In this paper, the problem of output tracking for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems is considered. First, neural networks are employed to cope with uncertain nonlinear functions, based on which state estimation is constructed. Then, an output feedback control system is designed by using dynamic surface control (DSC). To guarantee the L-infinity tracking performance, an initialization technique is presented. The main feature of the scheme is that explosion of complexity problem in backstepping control is avoided, and there is no need to update the unknown parameters including control gains as well as neural networks weights, the adaptive law with one update parameter is necessary only at the first design step. It is proved that all signals of the closed-loop system are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded and the L-infinity performance of system tracking error can be guaranteed. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Objective To observe the clinical effect of deep insertion at Tianshu (ST 25) for colonic slow transit constipation (STC).

To evaluate the follow-up efficacy and safety on slow transit constipation (STC) treated with individualized deep puncture at Tianshu (ST 25).One hundred and twenty-eight cases of STC were randomized into a deep puncture group (64 cases), a western medication group (31 cases) and a shallow puncture group (33 cases) at the ratio of 2:1:1. In the deep puncture group, electroacupuncture of deep puncture was applied to bilateral Tianshu (ST 25). The needle was inserted perpendicularly and slowly at the acupoint and went deeply till penetrating the peritoneum, about 20 to 65 mm in depth. In the western medication group, lactulose oral liquid was prescribed for oral administration. In the shallow puncture group, electroacupuncture of shallow puncture was done at bilateral Tianshu (ST 25). The needle was inserted perpendicularly and slowly, 5 to 8 mm in depth. The treatment lasted 4 weeks in the three groups and the follow-up visit of 12 weeks and 6 month after treatment was performed respectively. The weekly defecation frequency, patient's satisfaction and safety of deep puncture at Tianshu (ST 25) were assessed before and after treatment in each group.In the deep puncture group, the weekly defecation frequency was (1.79 +/- 1.05) times/week before treatment and was (3.90 +/- 1.43) times/week after 4-week treatment. It was (3.49 +/- 1.46) times/week in 12-week follow-up visit after treatment and was (3.51 +/- 1.42) times/week in 6-month follow-up visit after treatment. In the deep puncture group, the improvements in weekly defecation frequency, patient's satisfaction and short-term efficacy were same as those in the western medication group and the shallow puncture group (all P0.05). The long-term efficacy in follow-up visit was better remarkably than that in the western medication group (P0.05, P0.01). Besides, the combined medication was reduced and no adverse reaction occurred.The individualized deep puncture at Tianshu (ST 25) is effective in the treatment of STC and achieves the satisfactory long-term efficacy. This therapy displays the good effective advantage and deserves to be promoted in clinical practice of acupuncture and moxibustion therapeutic program as compared with the first-tier line of medication, lactulose oral liquid, recommended at home and abroad, in terms of the evidence-based medicine.

The magnetic susceptibility and the concentrations of Co, Cr, Cu, Pb, Sn, Sr and Ba in topsoil samples from Xi'an City were measured to study their spatial distribution and their correlation in this study. The results show that the concentrations of all measured heavy metals are higher than their background values in Cinnamon topsoil, which is the main soil type of Xi'an City. The heavy metals concentrations and the magnetic susceptibility of the studied samples display moderate variance. Co, Cr, Cu, Pb, Sn, Sr and Ba are significantly positively correlated with low-frequency magnetic susceptibility, while are significantly negatively correlated with frequency susceptibility. The spatial distribution of low-frequency magnetic susceptibility is identical with the concentrations of Pb and Cu. However, the spatial variation of frequency magnetic susceptibility is different from the concentrations of Co, Cr and Ba. The pollution assessment results show that the heavy metal pollution in topsoil of Xi'an City is moderate. The spatial contribution of the pollution load index was significantly correlated with the magnetic susceptibility of topsoil in Xi'an City. Therefore, soil magnetic susceptibility can be used as an effective monitoring means for heavy metal pollution in urban soil.

The plant growth-promoting bacterium (PGPB) Pseudomonas sp. UW4, previously isolated from the rhizosphere of common reeds growing on the campus of the University of Waterloo, promotes plant growth in the presence of different environmental stresses, such as flooding, high concentrations of salt, cold, heavy metals, drought and phytopathogens. In this work, the genome sequence of UW4 was obtained by pyrosequencing and the gaps between the contigs were closed by directed PCR. The P. sp. UW4 genome contains a single circular chromosome that is 6,183,388 bp with a 60.05% G+C content. The bacterial genome contains 5,423 predicted protein-coding sequences that occupy 87.2% of the genome. Nineteen genomic islands (GIs) were predicted and thirty one complete putative insertion sequences were identified. Genes potentially involved in plant growth promotion such as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) biosynthesis, trehalose production, siderophore production, acetoin synthesis, and phosphate solubilization were determined. Moreover, genes that contribute to the environmental fitness of UW4 were also observed including genes responsible for heavy metal resistance such as nickel, copper, cadmium, zinc, molybdate, cobalt, arsenate, and chromate. Whole-genome comparison with other completely sequenced Pseudomonas strains and phylogeny of four concatenated “housekeeping” genes (16S rRNA, gyrB, rpoB and rpoD) of 128 Pseudomonas strains revealed that UW4 belongs to the fluorescens group, jessenii subgroup.

An output feedback adaptive tracking scheme is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems with parameter uncertainty and input saturation. The unmeasured states are estimated by constructing filters, then dynamic surface control system is designed, which avoids explosion complexity of backstepping control. The effect of actuator saturation on system performance is compensated by neural network. It is shown that the proposed scheme can guarantee semi-global stability of the closed-loop system and the tracking error can be made arbitrarily small.

Tianshu (ST 25) is a frequently-used acupoint in acupuncture practice. It is reported that deep acupuncture has a better therapeutic effect than routine depth acupuncture. On the basis of reviewing the available literature, the present paper gives a definition about "deep acupuncture" of Tianshu (ST 25) from the anatomy angle, and makes a summary about its safety. This paper also puts forward a set of operation standards for needling Tianshu (ST 25). Moreover, the authors of the present paper also make a systematic analysis on the factors affecting the safety from the punctured depth, the diameter of the acupuncture needle and the operation technique. These methods and standards have an important significance in guiding clinical practice of acupuncture.

Comparing the difference of virulence between the strain CGRn5310 (HTNV) and the strain HR54 (SEOV) isolated both from Rattus norvegicus.Suckling mice were used to compare the difference of virulence between the two strains. Hantavirus antigens were detected in brain and lung tissues collected from the infected mice.Compared with the control group, all infected mice grew slowly. Furthermore, the mice inoculated intracerebrally with either CGRn5310 or HR45 appeared ruffled fur, and reduced activity, followed by neurological symptoms, such as paralyses and convulsions. The half lethal dose (LD(50)) of CGRn5310 strain was 10(-6.42), whereas the LD(50) of HR54 strain was 10(-4.51). Hantavirus antigens were identified in brain and lung tissues from the mice infected with the strain CGRn5310 and the strain HR54.LD(50) of the strain CGRn5310 was significantly higher than that of the strain HR54. Our results suggested that the virulence of the spillover hantavirus might only slightly be influenced by the non-reservoir rodents.

To gain further insight into the molecular epidemiology of Hantaan virus (HTNV) in Guizhou, China, rodents were captured in this region in 2004 and 2005. In addition, serum samples were collected from four patients. Ten hantaviruses were isolated successfully in cell culture from four humans, two Apodemus agrarius, three Rattus norvegicus and one Rattus nitidus. The nucleotide sequences for their small (S), medium (M) and partial large (L) segments were determined. Phylogenetic analysis of the S and M segment sequences revealed that all of these isolates belong to the species HTNV, suggesting a spillover of HTNV from A. agrarius to Rattus rats. All available isolates from Guizhou were divided into four distinct groups either in the S segment tree or in the M segment tree. The clustering pattern of these isolates in the S segment tree was not in agreement with that in the M or L segment tree, showing that genetic reassortment between HTNV had occurred naturally. Analysis of the S segment sequences from available HTNV strains indicated that they formed three clades. The first clade, which comprised only viruses from Guizhou, was the outgroup of clades II and III. The viruses in the second clade were found in Guizhou and mainly in the far-east Asian region, including China. However, the viruses in the third clade were found in most areas of China, including Guizhou, in which haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is endemic. Our results reveal that the highest genetic diversity of HTNV is in a limited geographical region of Guizhou, and suggest that Guizhou might be a radiation centre of the present form of HTNV.
