Abstract Background Although associations have been reported linking pretreatment thrombocytosis to cancer survival outcomes, the validity and strength of existing observational evidence have been contested. This study aimed to conduct an umbrella review to comprehensively appraise the strength, validity and credibility of these reported associations. Methods We searched Medline, Embase and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews from inception to 8 April 2023 to retrieve meta-analyses of observational studies. Meta-analyses were re-performed using a random-effect model and the strength of evidence was graded as convincing, highly suggestive, suggestive and weak according to seven pre-defined quantitative criteria reflecting statistical significance, amount of data, heterogeneity, and evidence of bias. The quality of review was appraised using the AMSTAR2 checklist. The umbrella review was reported adhering to the PRISMA guideline and was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42023455391). Results A total of 21 unique meta-analyses investigating ten cancer subtypes were included. All meta-analyses reported inferior survival outcome in cancer patients with pretreatment thrombocytosis, and 18 of them (85.7%) yielded statistically significant results (P 300 or 400 × 109 /L) to define thrombocytosis. Although evidence appraisal did not identify convincing evidence (Class I), the associations of thrombocytosis with inferior overall survival of lung, gastric, colorectal cancer and malignant mesothelioma were classified as highly suggestive evidence (Class II). According to AMSTAR2 ratings, no meta-analysis was identified with high or moderate quality. Conclusions Our findings consolidated the association between pretreatment thrombocytosis and poor survival outcomes in various cancers. Nonetheless, the absence of convincing associations indicates a need for further large-scale, high-quality evidence to confirm whether platelets can serve as a prognostic predictor or a therapeutic target.

The 7A04 Al alloy is a commonly used lightweight metal material; however, its low wear resistance limits its application. In this study, the wear resistance of this alloy was improved by preparing micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coatings, MAO/MoS2 composite coatings, and hard-anodized (HA) coatings on its surface. The friction and wear behaviors of these three coatings with diamond-like coated (DLC) rings under oil lubrication conditions were investigated using a ring–block friction tester. The wear rates of the coatings on the block surfaces were determined using laser confocal microscopy, and the wear trajectories of the coatings were examined using scanning electron microscopy. The results indicated that, among the three coatings, the MAO/MoS2 coating had the lowest coefficient of friction of 0.059, whereas the HA coating had the lowest wear rate of 1.47 × 10−6 mm/Nm. The MAO/MoS2 coatings exhibited excellent antifriction properties compared to the other coatings, whereas the HA coatings exhibited excellent anti-wear properties. The porous structure of the MAO coatings stored lubricant and replenished the lubrication film under oil lubrication. Meanwhile, the introduced MoS2 enhanced the densification of the coating and functioned as a solid lubricant. The HA coating exhibited good wear resistance owing to the dense structure of the amorphous-phase aluminum oxide. The mechanisms of abrasive and adhesive wear of the coatings under oil lubrication conditions and the optimization of the tribological properties by the solid–liquid synergistic lubrication effect were investigated. This study provides an effective method for the surface modification of Al alloys with potential applications in the aerospace and automotive industries.

Abstract Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a recurring inflammatory demyelinating disease that is commonly observed in Asian countries like China. Prior investigations have shown that mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) with better biocompatibility compared to azathioprine (AZA), and can prevent relapses of NMOSD, but the efficacy was controversially reported in different NMOSD cases. We aimed to explore the factors that weaken efficacy of MMF in NMOSD. Methods A total of 34 NMOSD patients treated with MMF were prospectively enrolled and grouped according to the therapeutic efficacy as effective group (EG, n = 23) versus less-effective group (LEG, n = 11). Abstract Background The unique intracranial tumor microenvironment (TME) contributes to the immunotherapy failure for glioblastoma (GBM), thus new functional protein targets are urgently needed. Alternative splicing is a widespread regulatory mechanism by which individual gene can express variant proteins with distinct functions. Moreover, proteins located in the cell plasma membrane facilitate targeted therapies. This study sought to obtain functional membrane protein isoforms from GBM TME. Methods With combined single-cell RNA-seq and bulk RNA-seq analyses, novel candidate membrane proteins generated by prognostic splicing events were screened within GBM TME. The short isoform of MS4A7 (MS4A7-s) was selected for evaluation by RT-PCR and western blotting in clinical specimens. Its clinical relevance was evaluated in a GBM patient cohort. The function of MS4A7-s was identified by in vitro and in vivo experiments. MS4A7-s overexpression introduced transcriptome changes were analyzed to explore the potential molecular mechanism. Results The main expression product, isoform MS4A7-s, generated by exon skipping, is an M2-specific plasma membrane protein playing a pro-oncogenic role in GBM TME. Higher expression of MS4A7-s correlates with poor prognosis in a GBM cohort. In vitro cell co-culture experiments, intracranial co-injection tumorigenesis assay, and RNA-seq suggest MS4A7-s promotes activation of glioma-associated macrophages’ (GAMs) PI3K/AKT/GSK3β pathway, leading to M2 polarization, and drives malignant progression of GBM. Conclusions MS4A7-s, a novel splicing isoform of MS4A7 located on the surface of GAMs in GBM TME, is a predictor of patient outcome, which contributes to M2 polarization and the malignant phenotype of GBM. Targeting MS4A7-s may constitute a promising treatment for GBM.

Abstract Objective This scoping review aimed to synthesize the published literature on family‐based childhood obesity prevention interventions from 2015 to 2021 that focused on children 2–5 years of age from racial and/or ethnic minority households. Methods A PICOS (population, intervention, comparison, outcome, and setting) framework was used to guide the development of the research question, search strategy, and inclusion/exclusion criteria. To be included, the study must have been a randomized controlled trial or quasi‐experimental trial that enrolled participants 2–5 years of age and their caregivers who identified as being from a racial and/or ethnic minority group in the United States. The study must have also examined a family‐based intervention that incorporated components to prevent childhood obesity (i.e., fruits and vegetable intake, parental responsive feeding, physical activity), be conducted in a remote (i.e., online, text, mail), home, community, primary care setting, or early childhood education institution setting, and report on body mass index (BMI, kg/m2), BMI z‐score, anthropometric measures (weight, waist circumference, fat mass, etc.), changes in health behaviors, or increase in nutritional knowledge. Results Fourteen individual studies were identified. Most interventions used multiple components for promoting nutritional knowledge and behavioral changes among families. Eight interventions included culturally tailored components targeting four aspects: (1) language barriers, (2) food choices, (3) relationships between family members, and (4) rapport building. Conclusions There is limited research in this field focusing on children from racial and/or ethnic minority groups. Future efforts should invest in developing culturally appropriate interventions for these groups.

Anthropogenic environments take an active part in shaping the human microbiome. Herein, we studied skin and nasal microbiota dynamics in response to the exposure in confined and controlled swine farms to decipher the impact of occupational exposure on microbiome formation. The microbiota of volunteers was longitudinally profiled in a 9-months survey, in which the volunteers underwent occupational exposure during 3-month internships in swine farms. By high-throughput sequencing, we showed that occupational exposure compositionally and functionally reshaped the volunteers’ skin and nasal microbiota. The exposure in farm A reduced the microbial diversity of skin and nasal microbiota, whereas the microbiota of skin and nose increased after exposure in farm B. The exposure in different farms resulted in compositionally different microbial patterns, as the abundance of Actinobacteria sharply increased at expense of Firmicutes after exposure in farm A, yet Proteobacteria became the most predominant in the volunteers in farm B. The remodeled microbiota composition due to exposure in farm A appeared to stall and persist, whereas the microbiota of volunteers in farm B showed better resilience to revert to the pre-exposure state within 9 months after the exposure. Several metabolic pathways, for example, the styrene, aminobenzoate, and N-glycan biosynthesis, were significantly altered through our PICRUSt analysis, and notably, the function of beta-lactam resistance was predicted to enrich after exposure in farm A yet decrease in farm B. We proposed that the differently modified microbiota patterns might be coordinated by microbial and non-microbial factors in different swine farms, which were always environment-specific. This study highlights the active role of occupational exposure in defining the skin and nasal microbiota and sheds light on the dynamics of microbial patterns in response to environmental conversion.

PurposeTo investigate the values of a 3D-printed bolus ensuring the precise postmastectomy chest wall radiation therapy for breast cancer.Methods and materialsIn the preclinical study on the anthropomorphic phantom, the 3D-printed bolus was used for dosimetry and fitness evaluation. The dosimetric parameters of planning target volume (PTV) were assessed, including Dmin, Dmax, Dmean, D95%, homogeneity index (HI), conformity index (CI), and organs at risk (OARs). The absolute percentage differences (|%diff|) between the theory and fact skin dose were also estimated, and the follow-up was conducted for potential skin side effects.ResultsIn preclinical studies, a 3D-printed bolus can better ensure the radiation coverage of PTV (HI 0.05, CI 99.91%), the dose accuracy (|%diff| 0.99%), and skin fitness (mean air gap 1.01 mm). Of the 27 eligible patients, we evaluated the radiation dose parameter (median(min–max): Dmin 4967(4789–5099) cGy, Dmax 5447(5369–5589) cGy, Dmean 5236(5171–5323) cGy, D95% 5053(4936–5156) cGy, HI 0.07 (0.06–0.17), and CI 99.94% (97.41%–100%)) and assessed the dose of OARs (ipsilateral lung: Dmean 1341(1208–1385) cGy, V5 48.06%(39.75%–48.97%), V20 24.55%(21.58%–26.93%), V30 18.40%(15.96%–19.16%); heart: Dmean 339(138–640) cGy, V30 1.10%(0%–6.14%), V40 0.38%(0%–4.39%); spinal cord PRV: Dmax 639(389–898) cGy). The skin doses in vivo were Dtheory 208.85(203.16–212.53) cGy, Dfact 209.53(204.14–214.42) cGy, and |%diff| 1.77% (0.89–2.94%). Of the 360 patients enrolled in the skin side effect follow-up study (including the above 27 patients), grade 1 was the most common toxicity (321, 89.2%), some of which progressing to grade 2 or grade 3 (32, 8.9% or 7, 1.9%); the radiotherapy interruption rate was 1.1%.ConclusionA 3D-printed bolus can guarantee the precise radiation dose on skin surface, good fitness to skin, and controllable acute skin toxicity, which possesses a great clinical application value in postmastectomy chest call radiation therapy for breast cancer.

The electricity grid is facing the dual pressure of a high percentage of renewable energy generation and increasing load-side spike load. The participation of demand-side resources in grid interaction is an effective solution to this problem. To address this issue, a demand-side guidance method based on time-of-use pricing and coupon is proposed to increase the revenue of power retailers and reduce peak-valley difference. First, a guidance mechanism combining time-of-use pricing and coupon is proposed, and an adjustment load prediction model based on Attention-LSTM network is constructed to predict the adjustment load of electricity customers under different coupon coefficients. Based on this, a power purchase-sale optimization decision model in multi-level electricity market with the goal of maximizing the revenue of power retailers is established to set a suitable coupon strategy to guide electricity customers to participate in the interaction more precisely. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by arithmetic examples.

Though single tumor immunotherapy and radiotherapy have significantly improved the survival rate of tumor patients, there are certain limitations in overcoming tumor metastasis, recurrence, and reducing side effects. Therefore, it is urgent to explore new tumor treatment methods. The new combination of radiotherapy and immunotherapy shows promise in improving therapeutic efficacy and reducing recurrence by enhancing the ability of the immune system to recognize and eradicate tumor cells, to overcome tumor immune tolerance mechanisms. Nanomaterials, as new drug-delivery-system materials of the 21st century, can maintain the activity of drugs, improve drug targeting, and reduce side effects in tumor immunotherapy. Additionally, nanomaterials, as radiosensitizers, have shown great potential in tumor radiotherapy due to their unique properties, such as light, heat, electromagnetic effects. Here, we review the mechanisms of tumor immunotherapy and radiotherapy and the synergy of radiotherapy with multiple types of immunotherapies, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), tumor vaccines, adoptive cell therapy, and cytokine therapy. Finally, we propose the potential for nanomaterials in tumor radiotherapy and immunotherapy.

BackgroundLIM domain only protein1(LMO1), a nuclear transcription coregulator, is implicated in the pathogenesis of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and neuroblastoma. However, the clinical significance and potential mechanism of LMO1 in human gliomas remain to be determined.MethodsIn this study, expression level data and clinical information were obtained via three databases. The Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to predict outcomes for glioma patients. In vitro and in vivo assays were used to explore the function of LMO1 in human glioma. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), RNA-seq and western blot were used to explore the potential molecular mechanisms. A prognostic model was built for predicting the overall survival(OS) of human glioma patients.ResultsHigh LMO1 expression was associated with a high tumor grade and a poor prognosis in patients. High levels of LMO1 mRNA were correlated with poor prognosis in patients with isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-wild-type (wt) and 1p/19q non-codeletion gliomas. Gene silencing of LMO1 significantly inhibited tumor growth, invasion and migration in vitro. In contrast, LMO1 over-expression promoted tumor growth, invasion and migration. Mechanically, LMO1 may positively regulate the level of NGFR mRNA and protein. NGFR mediated the regulation between LMO1 and NF-kB activation. Consistently, the nude mice study further confirmed that knockdown of LMO1 blocked tumor growth via NGFR-NF-kB axis. Finally, The nomogram based on the LMO1 signature for overall survival (OS) prediction in human glioma patients exhibited good performance in the individual mortality risk.ConclusionThis study provides new insights and evidences that high level expression of LMO1 is significantly correlated with progression and prognosis in human gliomas. LMO1 played a critical role in tumorigenesis and progression. The present study first investigated the LMO1–NGFR–NF-kB axis regulate cell growth and invasion in human glioma cells, whereby targeting this pathway may be a therapeutic target for glioma.

Abstract Background Immune cells play important roles in mediating immune response and host defense against invading pathogens. However, insights into the molecular mechanisms governing circulating immune cell diversity among multiple species are limited. Methods In this study, we compared the single‐cell transcriptomes of immune cells from 12 species. Distinct molecular profiles were characterized for different immune cell types, including T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. Results Our data revealed the heterogeneity and compositions of circulating immune cells among 12 different species. Additionally, we explored the conserved and divergent cellular crosstalks and genetic regulatory networks among vertebrate immune cells. Notably, the ligand and receptor pair VIM‐CD44 was highly conserved among the immune cells. Conclusions This study is the first to provide a comprehensive analysis of the cross‐species single‐cell transcriptome atlas for peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). This research should advance our understanding of the cellular taxonomy and fundamental functions of PBMCs, with important implications in evolutionary biology, developmental biology, and immune system disorders.

During the procedure of radiotherapy for superficial tumors, the key to treatment is to ensure that the skin surface receives an adequate radiation dose. However, due to the presence of the built-up effect of high-energy rays, equivalent tissue compensators (boluses) with appropriate thickness should be placed on the skin surface to increase the target radiation dose. Traditional boluses do not usually fit the skin perfectly. Wet gauze is variable in thickness day to day which results in air gaps between the skin and the bolus. These unwanted but avoidable air gaps lead to a decrease of the radiation dose in the target area and can have a poor effect on the outcome. Three-dimensional (3D) printing, a new rising technology named “additive manufacturing” (AM), could create physical models with specific shapes from digital information by using special materials. It has been favored in many fields because of its advantages, including less waste, low-cost, and individualized design. It is not an exception in the field of radiotherapy, personalized boluses made through 3D printing technology also make up for a number of shortcomings of the traditional commercial bolus. Therefore, an increasing number of researchers have tried to use 3D-printed boluses for clinical applications rather than commercial boluses. Here, we review the 3D-printed bolus’s material selection and production process, its clinical applications, and potential radioactive dermatitis. Finally, we discuss some of the challenges that still need to be addressed with the 3D-printed boluses.

Abstract Background Previously developed classifications of glioma have provided enormous advantages for the diagnosis and treatment of glioma. Although the role of alternative splicing (AS) in cancer, especially in glioma, has been validated, a comprehensive analysis of AS in glioma has not yet been conducted. In this study, we aimed at classifying glioma based on prognostic AS. Methods Using the TCGA glioblastoma (GBM) and low-grade glioma (LGG) datasets, we analyzed prognostic splicing events. Consensus clustering analysis was conducted to classified glioma samples and correlation analysis was conducted to characterize regulatory network of splicing factors and splicing events. Results We analyzed prognostic splicing events and proposed novel splicing classifications across pan-glioma samples (labeled pST1–7) and across GBM samples (labeled ST1–3). Distinct splicing profiles between GBM and LGG were observed, and the primary discriminator for the pan-glioma splicing classification was tumor grade. Subtype-specific splicing events were identified; one example is AS of zinc finger proteins, which is involved in glioma prognosis. Furthermore, correlation analysis of splicing factors and splicing events identified SNRPB and CELF2 as hub splicing factors that upregulated and downregulated oncogenic AS, respectively. Conclusion A comprehensive analysis of AS in glioma was conducted in this study, shedding new light on glioma heterogeneity and providing new insights into glioma diagnosis and treatment.

BackgroundIntraventricular penetration is rare in glioblastoma (GBM). Whether the ependymal region including the ependyma and subventricular zone (SVZ) can prevent GBM invasion remains unclear.MethodsMagnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and haematoxylin–eosin (HE) staining were performed to evaluate the size and anatomical locations of GBM. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to assess the correlation between tumor-ependyma contact, ventricle penetration and clinical characteristics. Cell migration and invasion were assessed via Transwell assays and an orthotopic transplantation model.ResultsAmong 357 patients with GBM, the majority (66%) showed ependymal region contact, and 34 patients (10%) showed ventricle penetration of GBM. GBM cells were spread along the ependyma in the orthotopic transplantation model. The longest tumor diameter was an independent risk factor for GBM-ependymal region contact, as demonstrated by univariate (OR = 1.706, p < 0.0001) and multivariate logistic regression analyses (OR = 1.767, p < 0.0001), but was not associated with ventricle penetration. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) could significantly induce tumor cell migration (p < 0.0001), and GBM could grow in CSF. Compared with those from the cortex, cells from the ependymal region attenuated the invasion of C6 whether cocultured with C6 or mixed with Matrigel (p = 0.0054 and p = 0.0488). Immunofluorescence analysis shows a thin gap with GFAP expression delimiting the tumor and ependymal region.ConclusionThe ependymal region might restrict GBM cells from entering the ventricle via a non-mechanical force. Further studies in this area may reveal mechanisms that occur in GBM patients and may enable the design of new therapeutic strategies.

PM2.5 and PM10 samples were collected from the outdoor environment of five types of cities (provincial central cities, regional central cities, resource-based cities, agricultural cities, and forested cities) situated in Northeast China. Based on bioaccessibility and respiratory deposition fluxes, health risks of PM2.5- and PM10-bound six heavy metals [HM6: Arsenic (As), Chromium (Cr), Cadmium (Cd), Nickel (Ni), Cobalt (Co), and Lead (Pb)] were studied. Cobalt (Co) and Cr were found to be the most abundantly bioaccessible fraction among HM6 after extraction of simulated lung fluids. After inhalation exposure, among HM6, Co mainly contributed 88.39–93.19% to the non-carcinogenic risk, while Cr account for 82.92–93.72% of cancer risk. The estimated daily intake of bioaccessible HM6 in outdoor environment during the heating period was calculated to be 293.11 ± 121.03, 117.08 ± 32.46, 105.57 ± 32.49, 100.35 ± 25.58 and 83.11 ± 17.64 ng/h for provincial central cities, regional central cities, agricultural city, resource-based cities and forested cities, respectively, for local residents. Objective. The endocrine function of bone in energy metabolism may be mediated by the osteocalcin (OC). We examined the association between OC and energy metabolism among Chinese postmenopausal women. Design and Setting. A cross-sectional cohort study enrolling 1635 participants was conducted using data from the Peking Vertebral Fracture study. Partial correlation analysis was performed to explore the correlation of OC, parathyroid hormone (PTH), or 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) with glycemic and lipid metabolic parameters. A logistic regression model was used to investigate the association of OC, PTH, or 25(OH)D with the prevalence of diabetes and dyslipidemia. Results. Serum levels of OC, PTH, and 25(OH)D were all positively correlated with serum cholesterol levels, whereas only OC was negatively associated with serum glucose level. In the logistic regression model, both OC and PTH were negatively associated with the prevalence of diabetes (odds ratio [OR], 95% confidence interval [95% CI]: 0.967, 0.948–0.986 for OC and 0.986, 0.978–0.994 for PTH). No significant association was found between 25(OH)D and diabetes. Both OC and 25(OH)D, rather than PTH, were associated with abnormalities of high cholesterol levels, such as hypercholesterolemia and high LDL-C levels. Further classifying the population based on the median value of OC and PTH, low OC and low PTH subgroup had the highest OR, 95% CI for diabetes (1.873, 1.287–2.737) and the lowest OR, 95% CI for hypercholesterolemia (0.472, 0.324–0.688) and for high LDL-C (0.538, 0.376–0.771). Conclusion. Among Chinese postmenopausal women, a lower serum level of OC was associated with a higher prevalence of diabetes and lower serum cholesterol levels, and a low PTH concentration could magnify these associations.

The implementation of China’s Beautiful Village Initiative was an extraordinary achievement and aroused extensive public attention. However, existing research mostly focuses on the construction and seldom on public attention towards the Beautiful Village Initiative. For this reason, this paper investigated the spatiotemporal characteristics of public attention based on the Baidu index using time-constrained clustering and the spatial autocorrelation test. Our results showed that the evolutionary process can be divided into three stages: very little national attention (2011–2012), injection of a strong impetus (2013–2015), and rooted in the people’s minds (2016–2020). Spatially, provincial public attention demonstrated obvious spatial differentiation and stable spatial autocorrelation, with Low–Low clusters in Northwest China and High–High Clusters in East, Central, and North China. Spatial econometric models were further utilized to quantify the effects of socioeconomic factors on public attention. The results of the SEM model proved the existence of spatial spillover effects and indicated that the urbanization rate, population density, education level, and network popularity rate all positively affected public attention. The relationship between Beautiful Village construction and public attention was uncoordinated and, in most provinces, advances in public attention were ahead of the construction level. Our findings contribute to the understanding of public attention towards the Beautiful Village Initiative, and policy suggestions we proposed would be applied to increasing public awareness and participation.

Salmonella enterica serotype Typhimurium is a major global food-borne pathogen and causes life-threatening infections. Although the resistance mechanisms to fluoroquinolones in S. Typhimurium had been well-defined, tolerance to fluoroquinolones and the associated mechanism for this are obscure. In the current work, we investigated an oqxAB-positive plasmid pHXY0908 and analyzed its role in S. Typhimurium tolerance to ciprofloxacin using time-kill, transcriptome sequencing and real-time PCR. S. Typhimurium ATCC14028 could survive under lethal concentrations of ciprofloxacin after acquiring plasmid pHXY0908. Transcriptome sequence analysis showed the chromosomal genes were systematically regulated after acquiring this plasmid suggesting an interaction between chromosome and plasmid. Additionally, the chromosomal efflux pump genes acrB, acrA, tolC, and yceE were up-regulated after acquiring plasmid pHXY0908 suggesting that these efflux pumps may contribute to the survival of ATCC14028 exposed to the lethal concentrations of ciprofloxacin. In conclusion, this is the first known report demonstrating that an IncHI2 type plasmid harboring oqxAB could assist S. Typhimurium survival under lethal concentrations of ciprofloxacin.

Based on the theoretical analysis, modelling and simulation, a theory of simultaneous separation and equidistant screening is proposed, and the corresponding equipment is established with the core modules of the multi-grooved cylindrical cam mechanism, pneumatic system, sensing, and controlling system. Solidworks software is used for three-dimensional modelling and kinematic simulation, which verify the correctness of the equipment design.

Honeypot has been regarded as an active defense technology that can deceive attackers by simulating real systems. However, honeypot is actually a static network trap with fixed disposition, which is easily identified by anti-honeypot technology. Thus, honeypot is a “passive” active defense technology. Dynamic honeypot makes up for the shortcomings of honeypot, which dynamically adjusts defense strategies with the attack of hackers. Therefore, the confrontation between defenders and attackers is a strategic game. This paper focuses on the non-cooperative evolutionary game mechanism of bounded rationality, aiming to improve the security of the array honeypot system through the evolutionarily stable strategies derived from the evolutionary game model. First, we construct a three-party evolutionary game model of array honeypot, which is composed of defenders, attackers and legitimate users. Secondly, we formally describe the strategies and revenues of players in the game, and build the three-party game payoff matrices. Then the evolutionarily stable strategy is obtained by analyzing the Replicator Dynamics of various parties. In addition, we discuss the equilibrium condition to get the influence of the number of servers N on the stability of strategy evolution. MATLAB and Gambit simulation experiment results show that deduced evolutionarily stable strategies are valid in resisting attackers.

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a family of genetic disorders associated with bone loss and fragility. Mutations associated with OI have been found in genes encoding the type I collagen chains. People with OI type I often produce insufficient α1-chain type I collagen because of frameshift, nonsense, or splice site mutations in COL1A1 or COL1A2. This report is of a Chinese daughter and mother who had both experienced two bone fractures. Because skeletal fragility is predominantly inherited, we focused on identifying mutations in COL1A1 and COL1A2 genes. A novel mutation in COL1A1, c.700delG, was detected by genomic DNA sequencing in the mother and daughter, but not in their relatives. The identification of this mutation led to the conclusion that they were affected by mild OI type I. Open reading frame analysis indicated that this frameshift mutation would truncate α1-chain type I collagen at residue p263 (p.E234KfsX264), while the wild-type protein would contain 1,464 residues. The clinical data were consistent with the patients’ diagnosis of mild OI type I caused by haploinsufficiency of α1-chain type I collagen. Combined with previous reports, identification of the novel mutation COL1A1-c.700delG in these patients suggests that additional genetic and environmental factors may influence the severity of OI.

A quanta image sensor (QIS) is a class of single-photon imaging devices that measure light intensity using oversampled binary observations. Because of the stochastic nature of the photon arrivals, data acquired by QIS is a massive stream of random binary bits. The goal of image reconstruction is to recover the underlying image from these bits. In this paper, we present a non-iterative image reconstruction algorithm for QIS. Unlike existing reconstruction methods that formulate the problem from an optimization perspective, the new algorithm directly recovers the images through a pair of nonlinear transformations and an off-the-shelf image denoising algorithm. By skipping the usual optimization procedure, we achieve orders of magnitude improvement in speed and even better image reconstruction quality. We validate the new algorithm on synthetic datasets, as well as real videos collected by one-bit single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) cameras.
