Abstract

Light has profoundly impacted modern medicine and healthcare, with numerous luminescent agents and imaging techniques currently being used to assess health and treat diseases. As an emerging concept in luminescence, aggregation-induced emission (AIE) has shown great potential in biological applications due to its advantages in terms of brightness, biocompatibility, photostability, and positive correlation with concentration. This review provides a comprehensive summary of AIE luminogens applied in imaging of biological structure and dynamic physiological processes, disease diagnosis and treatment, and detection and monitoring of specific analytes, followed by representative works. Discussions on critical issues and perspectives on future directions are also included. This review aims to stimulate the interest of researchers from different fields, including chemistry, biology, materials science, medicine, etc., thus promoting the development of AIE in the fields of life and health.

2. Using a quantum dot bead-based lateral flow immunoassay to broadly detect the adulteration of PDE-5 inhibitors in functional foods

Abstract

In this study, a designed hapten possessing the classic structure of PDE-5 inhibitors was synthesized. A monoclonal antibody (mAb) with broad recognition for six PDE-5 inhibitors was further produced. For the determination of lodenafil, methisosildenafil, mirodenafil, udenafil and tadalafil, the limit of detection (LOD) and IC50 ranged from 1.01 to 26.91 ng mL-1 and 12.75 to 278 ng mL-1, respectively. Thereafter, a quantum dot bead-based lateral flow immunoassay (QB-LFIA) was developed, which improved the LOD and IC50 to 0.32-6.52 ng mL-1 and 7.45-133.8 ng mL-1, respectively. Method validation was conducted using honey and capsule samples spiked with PDE-5 inhibitors, and the recoveries of the intra- and inter-assays ranged from 81.01% to 108.16%, with coefficients of variation below 12.71%. In addition, the validity and the consistency have been confirmed with a comparison between QB-LFIA and HPLC-MS/MS (R2 = 0.9957). Furthermore, the developed QB-LFIA was employed for the inspection of real products, and several samples were found to be adulterated with lodenafil and methisosildenafil.

Abstract

Directional sensor networks are a widely used architecture in the sensing layer of the Internet of Things (IoT), which has excellent data collection and transmission capabilities. The coverage hole caused by random deployment of sensors is the main factor restricting the quality of data collection in the IoT sensing layer. Determining how to enhance coverage performance by repairing coverage holes is a very challenging task. To this end, we propose a node deployment optimization method to enhance the coverage performance of the IoT sensing layer. Firstly, with the goal of maximizing the effective coverage area, an improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm is used to solve and obtain the optimal set of sensing directions. Secondly, we propose a repair path search method based on the improved sparrow search algorithm (ISSA), using the minimum exposure path (MEP) found as the repair path. Finally, a node scheduling algorithm is designed based on MEP to determine the optimal deployment location of mobile nodes and achieve coverage enhancement. The simulation results show that compared with existing algorithms, the proposed node deployment optimization method can significantly improve the coverage rate of the IoT sensing layer and reduce energy consumption during the redeployment process. Abstract

Due to the uncertainty of distributed energy resources (DERs), the effectiveness of voltage control in distribution networks faces significant challenges. Aiming at this problem, a novel distributed stochastic model predictive control (DSMPC) scheme was proposed in this paper to achieve voltage regulation considering the uncertainty of DERs. In the proposed control scheme, based on the photovoltaic (PV) prediction error model, multiple operation scenarios are selected to characterize the uncertainty of PV generation. Then, based on these selected scenarios, a DSMPC approach is developed to minimize the cost of control actions by coordinating the PV inverters and battery energy storage systems. Simulation involving the modified IEEE 34-bus verified that the proposed method can work effectively under the uncertainty of DERs and achieves a comparable control performance with a well-designed centralized controller.
