Tumor extracellular matrix (ECM) is the center component of tumor microenvironment (TME), ECM diversity constitutes the inherent heterogeneity of TME that contributes to tumor growth, dormancy, drug resistance, and metastasis. Discoidin domain receptor 1 is one of the ECM receptors that interact with multiple ECM ligands. It also regulates the occurrence and development of tumors. Accordingly, DDR1 plays an increasingly important role in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. In this review, we primarily summarize the research of ECM and its receptors with components, regulation, cell receptors, and signaling pathways in tumor progression.

Acquired resistance remains a bottleneck for molecular-targeted therapy in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Metabolic adaptation and epigenetic remodeling are recognized as hallmarks of cancer that may contribute to acquired resistance. In various lenvatinib-resistant models, increased glycolysis leads to lactate accumulation and lysine lactylation of IGF2BP3. This lactylation is crucial for capturing PCK2 and NRF2 mRNAs, thereby enhancing their expression. This process reprograms serine metabolism and strengthens the antioxidant defense system. Additionally, altered serine metabolism increases the availability of methylated substrates, such as S-adenosylmethionine (SAM), for N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation of PCK2 and NRF2 mRNAs. The lactylated IGF2BP3-PCK2-SAM-m6A loop maintains elevated PCK2 and NRF2 levels, enhancing the antioxidant system and promoting lenvatinib resistance in HCC. Treatment with liposomes carrying siRNAs targeting IGF2BP3 or the glycolysis inhibitor 2-DG restored lenvatinib sensitivity in vivo. These findings highlight the connection between metabolic reprogramming and epigenetic regulation and suggest that targeting metabolic pathways may offer new strategies to overcome lenvatinib resistance in HCC., (© 2024 The Author(s). Background: Spinal cord injury patients frequently suffer from anxiety and depression, which can seriously affect their quality of life and recovery. Acupuncture, as a traditional Chinese therapy, has been used to treat anxiety and depression for more than 2000 years. The aim is to evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of anxiety and depression in spinal cord injury patients., Methods: The literature on acupuncture treating anxiety and depression in patients with spinal cord injury in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese Scientific Journal Data, and Wanfang data were searched through computers from the establishment of the database to May 2024. In the study, the Cochrane tool for assessing the risk of bias was used and the meta-analyses were carried out using the software package Review Manager 5.4., Results: Ten trials were included in this systematic review, with 361 cases in the experimental group and 355 cases in the control group. Meta-analysis showed that compared with conventional treatment, acupuncture combined with conventional treatment was beneficial in improving the total clinical efficacy (odds ratio = 3.55 [95% confidence interval {CI}: 1.34-9.37], P < .001). We found acupuncture-assisted therapy could be beneficial in improving the Modified Barthel Index (MD = 10.48 [95% CI: 4.78-16.19], P < .001) and reducing anxiety or depression scores (such as the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale [MD = -6.08 {95% CI: -6.85 to -5.30}, P < .001]; reducing the Self-Rating Depression Scale [MD = -6.01 {95% CI: -6.95 to -5.07}, P < .001]). In addition, the study showed that the application of acupuncture treatment could improve 5-hydroxytryptamine compared to control group (MD = 44.99 [95% CI: 40.04-49.95], P < .001) and reduce TNF-α compared to control group (MD = -7.78 [95% CI: -8.73 to -6.83], P < .001)., Conclusion: Acupuncture could be used as a complementary therapy to reduce anxiety and depression in spinal cord injury patients. Abstract: Regulated cell death (RCD) is a critical physiological process essential in maintaining skin homeostasis. Among the various forms of RCD, ferroptosis stands out due to its distinct features of iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and involvement of various inhibitory antioxidant systems. In recent years, an expanding body of research has solidly linked ferroptosis to the emergence of skin disorders. Therefore, understanding the mechanisms underlying ferroptosis in skin diseases is crucial for advancing therapy and prevention strategies. This review commences with a succinct elucidation of the mechanisms that underpin ferroptosis, embarks on a thorough exploration of ferroptosis's role across a spectrum of skin conditions, encompassing melanoma, psoriasis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), vitiligo, and dermatological ailments precipitated by ultraviolet (UV) exposure, and scrutinizes the potential therapeutic benefits of pharmacological interventions aimed at modulating ferroptosis for the amelioration of skin diseases., (Copyright © 2024 The Chinese Medical Association, produced by Wolters Kluwer, Inc. under the CC-BY-NC-ND license.)
