Objectives: This study aimed to characterize a tigecycline-resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (HvKP) strain, identified as KLZT, which carries the tigecycline resistance gene cluster tmexC2-tmexD2-toprJ2 belonging to ST29 and serotype K212. Methods: Antimicrobial susceptibility and virulence phenotypes were assessed, followed by whole-genome sequencing (WGS) using PacBio II and MiSeq sequencers. Genome annotation was carried out using the RAST server and bioinformatics analysis revealed the genetic characteristics of this strain. Results: Antimicrobial and virulence phenotype testing indicated that K. pneumoniae strain KLZT could be considered as a multidrug-resistant HvKP. WGS analysis showed that KLZT has a single 5,536,506-bp chromosome containing three plasmids 290,963 bp (pKLZT-1), 199,302 bp (pKLZT-2), and 4820 bp (pKLZT-3) in size, and also includes the ST29 and K212 serotypes. Four (blaSHV-187, oqxA, oqxB, and fosA6) and six resistance genes (tmexC2-tmxeD2-toprJ2, blaOXA-1, aac(6′)-Ib-cr, catB3, arr-3, and blaLEN27) were identified from chromosomal and plasmid pKLZT-1, respectively. Gene-based analysis of the resistance genes of plasmid pKLZT-1 showed that the tigecycline resistance gene cluster-carrying region was flanked by umuC and umuD (umuD-hps-IS5-tmexC2-tmexD2-toprJ2-umuC), as well as other resistance genes and virulence factors (ureB, ureC, and ureG), which were carried by IS5075-Tn3-intI1 -aac(6′)-Ib-cr-blaOXA-1-catB3-arr-3-blaLEN27-Tn3-ISkpn26-ureBCG-IS5075. Conclusions: WGS has revealed that a multidrug-resistant strain, HvKP KLZT, belonging to ST29 with capsular serotype K212, contains a multidrug-resistance plasmid.

Summary: Aurora A is a critical kinase that functions in centrosome maturation and bipolar spindle assembly. On the other hand, Aurora A has E3 ubiquitin ligase activity and polyubiquitinates Breast cancer gene 1 (BRCA1)-interacting protein Obg-like ATPase 1 (OLA1), targeting it for proteasomal degradation. Here, we present a protocol to detect OLA1 ubiquitination. We describe steps for recovering frozen cells and protein purification. ABSTRACT: Objectives: The aim of this study was to characterize the blaKPC-33 in a ST15-K19 ceftazidime-avibactam (CAZ-AVI)-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strain after the antibiotic CAZ-AVI was approved for use in Wuxi No. 2 People's Hospital, China. Methods: Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed by the microdilution broth method. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) was performed using PacBio II and MiSeq sequencers. High-quality reads were assembled using the SOAPdenovo and GapCloser v1.12, and genome annotation was performed using the NCBI Prokaryotic Genome Annotation Pipeline (PGAP). Genomic characteristics were analysed by using bioinformatics methods. Results: K. pneumoniae strain KPHRJ showed resistance to CAZ-AVI. WGS analysis showed that strain KPHRJ had one 5 536 506 bp chromosome (57.25% G+C content) and one plasmid (133 451 bp, G+C 54.29%). KPHRJ was classified as ST15 and K19 serotype. Resistome analysis showed that KPHRJ carries seven antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs). WGS analysis and conjugation experiments demonstrated that the blaKPC-33 gene was carried by plasmid pKPHRJ, flanked by two copies of IS26 mobile elements (IS26-ISKpn27-blaKPC-33-ISKpn6-korC-TnAs1-tetR-tetA-Tn3-IS26). Besides these acquired resistance genes, mutations in porin protein-coding genes, such as OmpK36 and OmpK37, which may reduce susceptibility to the CAZ-AVI, were also identified from the genome. Conclusion: Here, we present the WGS of a CAZ-AVI resistant K. pneumoniae isolate, strain KPHRJ, with capsular serotype K19 and belonging to ST15. CAZ-AVI resistance is likely conferred by a KPC-2 variant, blaKPC-33 and mutations in porin-coding genes. We speculate that the approval of the CAZ-AVI in hospital could contribute to the emergence of these genomic features by providing a selective pressure leading to the emergence of CAZ-AVI resistant bacteria.

This is an essay in the field of mineral processing engineering. During the mining and storage process of coal resources, a large amount of oxidized coal is formed, resulting in waste of coal resources and environmental pollution. Extracting humic acid from oxidized coal can achieve the goal of high-value utilization of oxidized coal resources. In order to further improve the content and utilization efficiency of humic acid in oxidized coal, this article uses three methods: H2O2 oxidation, concentrated H2SO4 oxidation, and reverse flotation to pretreat oxidized coal samples. The influence of these methods on the content of humic acid in oxidized coal was investigated, and the changes in oxygen-containing functional groups were analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The experimental results show that both oxidation and reverse flotation can improve the utilization efficiency of humic acid. After using H2O2 oxidation, the humic acid content in coal samples increases from 21.58% to 43.62%; After oxidation with concentrated H2SO4, the content of humic acid reached 48.51%, and the extraction rate of humic acid reached 81.08%. Extracting humic acid through reverse flotation treatment can remove some minerals, and humic acid is enriched in sediment. The extraction rate of humic acid is also improved. After oxidation treatment, the extracted humic acid has an increase in oxygen-containing groups and enhanced hydrophilicity.

Introduction This study investigated the relationship between environment support, social support and smoking cessation, to provide suggestions for the construction of environment and social support for tobacco control. Methods This was a secondary analysis based on two cross-sectional surveys of adult smokers who participated in the six-month community smoking cessation intervention projects in Beijing. The study subjects were divided into a successful group (n=159) and an unsuccessful group (n=253). The status of the environment support, community tobacco exposure, and social support were compared between groups. A structural equation model (SEM) was established for Confirmatory Factor Analysis. Results The univariate analysis showed that there were differences in smoking cessation outcomes among smokers with different home tobacco regulations, workplace tobacco regulations and number of smokers in the family. Differences in 6-month smoking reduction were also found with different promotion levels of anti-tobacco messaging and the frequency of smoking events at home. The logistic regression analysis indicated that home tobacco regulations (OR=1.30; 95% CI: 1.00–1.69), workplace tobacco regulations (OR=1.27; 95% CI: 1.05– 1.54), and frequency of smoking events at home (OR=1.15; 95% CI: 1.02–1.29), were associated with smoking cessation. The results of the SEM showed that environment support (β=0.39; 95% CI: 0.05–0.73, p=0.026) and social support (β=0.37; 95% CI: 0.05–0.68, p=0.022) had influence on smoking cessation. Conclusions Environment support and social support are related to smoking cessation. Attention should be paid to the smoking regulations at home and workplace, anti-tobacco messaging, and social support by the family. Cultivated land ecological compensation (CLEC) is an important way to solve regional development imbalance and cultivated land problems, and the scientific quantification of the ecological value of cultivated land is the key to CLEC. This study quantified the total amount and urgency of CLEC in China’s main grain-producing region using the cropland ecological footprint (EF) and ecosystem service value (ESV) methods. Furthermore, this study analyzed the comprehensive zoning of CLEC considering natural and economic development. The results showed that the spatial distribution of EFs and the ecological carrying capacity of cultivated land in Henan Province are similar, presenting the spatial characteristics of being high in the southeast and low in the northwest; the cultivated land in most of the counties and districts is in a state of ecological surplus, and the cultivated land resources are sufficient to support their own consumption needs. Henan Province as a whole is an ecologically compensated region, with a compensation amount of CNY 1.39 billion, and the total amount of compensation is in a positive value of 94.94%. The Southwest Yu and North Yu economic zone of Henan are the areas of high and low values of cultivated land compensation. The priority compensation region is the most extensive and widely distributed type in the five regions of Henan Province, accounting for 55% of the counties and districts. The degree of compensation is most urgent in the Huanghuai, Southwest Yu, and North Yu economic zones. This study’s findings provide new ideas for the development of differentiated ecological compensation policies, and provide references for the participation of multiple market participants and the diversification of compensation forms.

Abstract Background Following external situation reports, individuals perceive risks, experience different emotional reactions, and further change their behaviors. Therefor people’s psychology will also be affected by adjustment of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control policy, but it remains unknown what kind of coping behaviors will be produced due to psychology. This study defines coping behavior as “medical behavior and irrational consumption behavior after the adjustment of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control policy in China”, assesses the prevalence of negative emotions in the Chinese population after policy adjustments, and explores how negative emotions affect people’s coping behaviors, conducts baseline research, provides references and suggestions for policy formulation. Methods A cross-sectional online survey was conducted during 21–28 December 2022, included sociodemographic characteristics, COVID-19 infection and irrational purchase behavior, psychological assessment, and opinion polling. Depression and anxiety status are assessed by PHQ-9 and GAD-7. The relationship between anxiety, depression and coping behavior was analyzed by Pearson χ2 test, Fisher’s exact test and logistic regression. Results A total of 3995 infected participants were included in this study, of which 2363(59.1%) and 1194(29.9%) had depression and anxiety. There was a significant difference in clinical treatment and irrational purchase behavior between different level of depression and anxiety. Depression was a risk factor for self- medication (OR = 1.254), seeking professional treatment (OR = 1.215), using online services of medical institutions (OR = 1.320), large-scale purchases of medicines (OR = 1.154) and masks (OR = 1.096). Anxiety was a risk factor for seeking professional treatment (OR = 1.285) and large-scale purchases of masks (OR = 1.168). Conclusion After the adjustment of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control policy, patient risk perception can increase depression and anxiety. We found that associated with depression, COVID-19 patients are more likely to have medical behaviors such as self- medication, seeking professional treatment, using online services of medical institutions, and storage behaviors of medicines and masks; and anxiety associated with the coping behavior of patients to seek professional treatment and store masks in large quantities. We should improve people’s mental health, and on the other hand, we should give people effective psychological education during the epidemic. Therefore, we should set up psychological outpatient clinics in community health institutions, expanding mental health screening and guidance; relying on the psychological outpatient clinic, establish groups of people with depression or anxiety to carry out COVID-19 health education and peer education, to reduce adverse drug reactions, avoid panic seeking professional treatment and irrational purchase behavior, and protect public mental health. Trial registration This study has been approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of Capital Medical University (2023SY086), and informed consent was obtained from the study subjects before the investigation.

Introduction We study the relationship between psychological traits of smokers and their smoking cessation effects, and provide more scientific evidence for smoking cessation intervention. Methods The study was conducted as a nested case-control study. Smokers who participated in the community smoking cessation intervention projects in Beijing in 2018–2020, were selected as the research participants and divided into two groups: a successful smoking cessation and unsuccessful smoking cessation group, according to their smoking cessation effects at 6 months. Psychological traits of quitters including smoking abstinence self-efficacy, willingness to quit smoking, and trait coping style, were compared between the two groups, and a structural equation model was established for confirmatory factor analysis to analyze their mechanisms. Results There were differences in smoking cessation results between the successful smoking cessation group and the unsuccessful smoking cessation group in terms of smoking abstinence self-efficacy and willingness to quit smoking. Willingness to quit smoking (OR=1.06; 95% CI: 1.008–1.118) is a risk factor, while smoking abstinence self-efficacy in habit/addiction situations (OR=0.77; 95% CI: 0.657– 0.912) is a protective factor. The results of the structural equation model showed that smoking abstinence self-efficacy (β=0.199, p=0.002) and trait coping style (β= -0.166, p=0.042) could influence smoking cessation effects. The structural equation model was well fitted, which showed that smoking abstinence selfefficacy (β=0.199, p=0.002) and trait coping style (β= -0.166, p=0.042) might have influenced the effect of smoking cessation among smokers. Conclusions Willingness to quit smoking has a positive impact on the smoking cessation effect, while smoking abstinence self-efficacy in habit/addiction situations and negative trait coping style have a negative impact. Smoking abstinence self-efficacy and trait coping styles can significantly affect smoking cessation outcomes. Tourism green production efficiency serves as the foundation for assessing the mutual coupling performance of the tourism economy and the ecological environment. In this paper, the tourism carbon sink is included in the measurement framework, and the TGPE of 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta region from 2011 to 2019 is estimated by the Super-SBM model. Furthermore, kernel density estimate, spatial autocorrelation, Markov chain and spatial Durbin model are further integrated to explore its spatio-temporal evolution process, spatial effects and influencing factors. The results show that 1) TGPE in the Yangtze River Delta has been increasing during the study period. The high-efficiency and low-efficiency areas of the TGPE have a bipolar pattern characterized by “low–low convergence” and “high–high convergence.” 2) There is considerable spatial variation in TGPE from north to south. The number of hot spots and sub-hot spots increases in volatility, whereas the number of sub-cold spots and cold spots decreases. 3) Although cities with low levels of TGPE have a higher probability of moving to the next level, grade transformation across hierarchies is difficult to attain. When considering the factor of adjacent types and the influence of spatial lag on the transfer probability. 4) The positive spatial spillover effects of TGPE is significant. At the same time, economic development level, transport accessibility and tourism industry agglomeration have positive spillover effects on neighboring cities. Conversely, urbanization level and openness level have negative spillover effects.

Summary: The BRCA1-interacting protein Obg-like ATPase 1 (OLA1) functions in centriole duplication. In this study, we show the role of the mitotic kinase Aurora A in the reduction of centrosomal OLA1. Aurora A binds to and polyubiquitinates OLA1, targeting it for proteasomal degradation. NIMA-related kinase 2 (NEK2) phosphorylates the T124 residue of OLA1, increases binding of OLA1 to Aurora A and OLA1 polyubiquitination by Aurora A, and reduces centrosomal OLA1 in G2 phase. The kinase activity of Aurora A suppresses OLA1 polyubiquitination. The decrease in centrosomal OLA1 caused by Aurora A-mediated polyubiquitination promotes the recruitment of pericentriolar material proteins in G2 phase. The E3 ligase activity of Aurora A is critical for centrosome amplification induced by its overexpression. The results suggest a dual function of Aurora A as an E3 ubiquitin ligase and a kinase in the regulation of centrosomal OLA1, which is essential for proper centrosome maturation in G2 phase.

ObjectiveTo assess the effect of the hospital-community integrated management model of tobacco dependence on smoking cessation among community residents compared with a brief smoking cessation intervention.MethodsOur study recruited 651 smokers who were willing to quit in 19 communities in Beijing and conducted a 6-month smoking cessation intervention. The control group receiving a brief smoking cessation intervention and the pilot group receiving an integrated smoking cessation intervention. Intention-to-treat analysis (ITT) and generalized estimating equations were used to assess the effects of the integrated intervention and smoking cessation medication on average number of cigarettes smoked per day (ACSD) and smoking cessation rate.ResultsSimple effects analysis showed that smokers taking medication had significantly lower ACSD than those not taking medication at follow-up, the control group reduced smoking by 3.270, 4.830, and 4.760 cigarettes in the first, third and sixth months, respectively, while the pilot group reduced by 6.230, 5.820, and 4.100 cigarettes. The integrated intervention significantly reduced ACSD among medication-taking smokers at 1st month (reduced by 3.420, P < 0.05) and 3rd month (reduced by 2.050, P < 0.05), but had no significant effect among non-medication taking smokers. The 3rd month smoking cessation rate among medication-taking smokers was 27.0%, which was significantly higher than the smokers with brief smoking cessation intervention.ConclusionThe integrated hospital-community intervention can significantly promote smoking cessation among smokers taking medication, but the issue of payment for medication and additional labor compensation for medical staff should be addressed before its popularization.

Objectives Over the coming decades, China is expected to face the largest worldwide increase in dementia incidence. Mobile health (mHealth) may improve the accessibility of dementia prevention strategies, targeting lifestyle-related risk factors. Our aim is to explore the needs and views of Chinese older adults regarding healthy lifestyles to prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD) and dementia through mHealth, supporting the Prevention of Dementia using Mobile Phone Applications (PRODEMOS) study.Design Qualitative semi-structured interview study, using thematic analysis.Setting Primary and secondary care in Beijing and Tai’an, China.Participants Older adults aged 55 and over without dementia with an increased dementia risk, possessing a smartphone. Participants were recruited through seven hospitals participating in the PRODEMOS study, purposively sampled on age, sex, living area and history of CVD and diabetes.Results We performed 26 interviews with participants aged 55–86 years. Three main themes were identified: valuing a healthy lifestyle, sociocultural expectations and need for guidance. First, following a healthy lifestyle was generally deemed important. In addition to generic healthy behaviours, participants regarded certain specific Chinese lifestyle practices as important to prevent disease. Second, the sociocultural context played a crucial role, as an important motive to avoid disease was to limit the care burden put on family members. However, time-consuming family obligations and other social values could also impede healthy behaviours such as regular physical activity. Finally, there seemed to be a need for reliable and personalised lifestyle advice and for guidance from a health professional.Conclusions The Chinese older adults included in this study highly value a healthy lifestyle. They express a need for personalised lifestyle support in order to adopt healthy behaviours. Potentially, the PRODEMOS mHealth intervention can meet these needs through blended lifestyle support to improve risk factors for dementia and CVD.Trial registration number ISRCTN15986016; Pre-results.

Ecological security pattern construction is a fundamental approach to ensuring regional ecological security and enhancing human welfare. Taking Henan Province, a typical region of China’s main agricultural production area, as the study area, we use multi-source spatial data to calculate the high-value areas of ecosystem services and identify ecological source sites. On the basis of calculating the degree of land use development and GDP per land and population density to determine high-demand areas of the ecosystem, the ecological resistance surface coefficient is modified with nighttime lighting data, and the ecological corridor between the source site and the high-demand area is extracted using the minimum cumulative resistance model, so as to construct and optimize the regional ecological security pattern. The following results are presented. (1) The total area of ecological source sites in Henan Province is 3.02 × 104 km2, accounting for 18.12% of the total study area, which is concentrated in the mountainous areas of East Henan and South Henan. (2) The high-demand area of ecosystem services has a total area of 4.1 × 104 km2, accounting for 24.73% of the total study area, mainly concentrated in the central and eastern regions of Henan, with poor spatial matching of ecosystem service supply and demand. (3) The total length of ecological corridors is 1062.3 km, and the overall pattern forms the main corridor axes. The identification of ecological corridors focuses on the ecological demand space and puts forward suggestions for the optimization of the regional ecological security pattern based on it.

Controlled by regional geological background, and affected by human activity and weathering, toppling deformation slopes occur in different regions in China. Based on statistics about domestic toppling deformation slopes and their distribution, the regional geological susceptibility zonation area of toppling deformation slopes was determined. Firstly, a regional geological susceptibility evaluation was conducted according to these toppling deformation slopes, choosing landform, stratigraphic age, seismic intensity and tectonic stress distribution, and the study area was divided into very low, low, medium, high and very high susceptibility areas. Secondly, a geographic position susceptibility evaluation was conducted aimed at different sections of typical rivers in western China and the toppling deformation slopes related to them, and the study area was divided into upstream, midstream and downstream of 11 rivers that were respectively classified into very low, low, high and very high susceptibility areas. Thirdly, based on the results, associations between the toppling deformation factors (lithology, slope height, elevation, horizontal depth and vertical depth) and the distribution of deformation slopes were revealed. Finally, the development regularity was analyzed comprehensively. The results show that the toppling deformation slopes of hydropower projects are more developed in Sichuan, Qinghai and Yunnan provinces of China. With regard to regional geography, besides the Yellow River, both the Lancang River and the Yalong River flow through areas with toppling deformation that are classified as highly susceptible geological zones in all levels. The results of this study can be used as references for site selection plans in hydropower projects.

Abstract Skeleton‐based action recognition has recently attracted a lot of research interests due to its advantage in computational efficiency. Some recent work building upon Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) has shown promising performance in this task by modelling intrinsic spatial correlations between skeleton joints. However, these methods only consider local properties of action sequences in the spatial‐temporal domain, and consequently, are limited in distinguishing complex actions with similar local movements. To address this problem, a novel tri‐attention module (TAM) is proposed to guide GCNs to perceive significant variations across local movements. Specifically, the devised TAM is implemented in three steps: i) A dimension permuting unit is proposed to characterise skeleton action sequences in three different domains: body poses, joint trajectories, and evolving projections. ii) A global statistical modelling unit is introduced to aggregate the first‐order and second‐order properties of global contexts to perceive the significant movement variations of each domain. iii) A fusion unit is presented to integrate the features of these three domains together and leverage as orientation for graph convolution at each layer. Through these three steps, significant‐variation frames, joints, and channels can be enhanced. We conduct extensive experiments on two large‐scale benchmark datasets, NTU RGB‐D and Kinetics‐Skeleton. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed TAM can be easily plugged into existing GCNs and achieve comparable performance with the state‐of‐the‐art methods.

BackgroundThe prevalence of cigarette smoking in China is high and the utilization of smoking cessation clinics is very low. Multicomponent smoking cessation interventions involving community and hospital collaboration have the potential to increase the smoking cessation rate. However, the cost-effectiveness of this intervention model is unknown.MethodsWe conducted a smoking cessation intervention trial in 19 community health service centers in Beijing, China. A cost-effectiveness analysis was performed from a societal perspective to compare three strategies of smoking cessation: no intervention (NI), pharmacological intervention (PI), and comprehensive intervention (CI) (PI plus online health promotion). A Markov model, with a time horizon of 20 years, was used to simulate the natural progression of estimated 10,000 male smokers. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to obtain data on costs and quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) by using the five-level EuroQol-5-dimension (EQ-5D-5L) questionnaire. Probabilistic sensitivity analysis was performed to explore parameters of uncertainty in the model.ResultsA total of 680 participants were included in this study, including 283 in the PI group and 397 in the CI group. After 6 months of follow-up, the smoking cessation rate reached 30.0% in the CI group and 21.2% in the PI group. Using the Markov model, compared with the NI group, the intervention strategies of the PI group and the CI group were found to be cost-effective, with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of $535.62/QALY and $366.19/QALY, respectively. The probabilistic sensitivity analysis indicated that the CI strategy was always the most cost-effective intervention.ConclusionCI for smoking cessation, based in hospital and community in China, is more cost-effective than PI alone. Therefore, this smoking cessation model should be considered to be implemented in healthcare settings.

The anti-dumping layered rock slope is a common type of slope, which has various deformation and failure modes, complicated mechanics mechanism and many influencing factors.In order to reveal the influence law of the geometric characteristic parameters in different fronting surface conditions on the flexural toppling deformation of the reversed inclined layered rock slope, this study used 3DEC to research the influence law of geometric characteristic parameters on flexural toppling deformation, combined with mathematical statistics system.The obtained results show that: ① The maximum deformation displacement is found on three faces of the slope and the minimum on one face; ② The deformation displacement of slope increases with slope height, slope angle and joint inclination, and it decreases with the increase of the included angle between the joint surface and the free face; ③ The deformation displacement of the slope is the largest when the angle between the two free faces is 90°; ④ The deformation displacement is the largest when joint inclination angle is 60° on the one and two free faces, and it increases with the joint inclination angle increasing.

To evaluate the association between serum vitamin A levels and the prevalence of recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRTIs) in children and adolescents and to provide evidence that would help decrease the prevalence of respiratory tract infections (RTIs) in children. This cross-sectional study included 8034 children and adolescents in Beijing aged 6 months to 17 years. RRTI and RTI symptoms were diagnosed according to the Clinical Concept and Management of Recurrent Respiratory Tract Infections in Children. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to evaluate the association between serum vitamin A levels and RRTIs after adjusting for potential confounders. Among the included children, 721 (8.97%) were diagnosed with vitamin A deficiency, whereas 3,073 (38.25%) were diagnosed with subclinical vitamin A deficiency. Only 28.8% (208/721) of children with vitamin A deficiency and 53.1% (1,631/3,073) of children with subclinical vitamin A deficiency had no RRTI and RTI symptoms, respectively. Compared with children with normal vitamin A levels, those with vitamin A deficiency and subclinical vitamin A deficiency had a greater risk for RRTIs, with an odds ratio (OR) of 6.924 [95% confidence interval (CI): 5.433–8.824] and 2.140 (95% CI: 1.825–2.510), respectively]. Vitamin A levels were also positively associated with RTI symptoms, with those having vitamin A deficiency and subclinical vitamin A deficiency showing an OR of 1.126 (95% CI: 0.773–1.640) and 1.216 (95% CI: 1.036–1.427), respectively. The present cross-sectional study found that low serum vitamin A levels were significantly associated with RRTI or RTI prevalence in children and adolescents.

Torularhodin is a β-carotene-like compound from Sporidiobolus pararoseus, and its protective effect against high-fat diet (HFD)-induced hepatic dyslipidemia and inflammation was investigated. Compared to mice of C57BL/6J fed on HFD, the addition of Torularhodin into the HFD (HFD-T) significantly reduced body weight, serum triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and the inflammatory mediators of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). A significant increase of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c), which is beneficial to cholesterol clearance, was also observed in HFD-T group. Proteomic analysis showed HDL-C-c is highly correlated with proteins (e.g., CPT1A and CYP7A1) involved in lipid β-oxidation and bile acid synthesis, whereas the other phenotypic parameters (TC, TG, LDL, and inflammatory cytokines) are highly associated with proteins (e.g., SLC27A4) involved in lipid-uptake. The up-regulated anti-inflammation proteins FAS, BAX, ICAM1, OCLN, GSTP1, FAF1, LRP1, APEX1, ROCK1, MANF, STAT3, and INSR and down-regulated pro-inflammatory proteins OPTN, PTK2B, FADD, MIF, CASP3, YAP1, DNM1L, and NAMPT not only demonstrate the occurrence of HFD-induced hepatic inflammation, but also prove the anti-inflammatory property of Torularhodin. KEGG signaling pathway analysis revealed that the PPARα signaling pathway is likely fundamental to the health function of Torularhodin through up-regulating genes related to fatty acid β-oxidation, cholesterol excretion, HDL-Cc formation, and anti-inflammation. Torularhodin, as a new food resource, may act as a therapeutic agent to prevent hepatic dyslipidemia and related inflammation for improved health.

Methods A cross-sectional sample of 568 quitters from 19 communities in Beijing in 2019 was surveyed. Demographic information and psychological characteristics of smokers were collected by an interview questionnaire, and psychological traits scales including the Smoking Abstinence Self-Efficacy (SASE) and the Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ). As Moore's law meets bottlenecks, the demand for heterogeneous parallel processing systems is increasing. Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are becoming more efficient acceleration devices due to their powerful processing performance, and the CPU + FPGA architecture under the OpenCL framework has become the trend of heterogeneous parallel processing systems. This study focuses on the optimisation of pulse compression algorithm in FPGA based on OpenCL, which plays an important role in modern radar signal processing systems. By using double cache for ping–pang storage of data between matched filter and inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT), an optimised processing method is proposed by using a pipeline and verify the method by using Arria 10 GX1150 FPGA with two groups of 2 GB DDR3; the results show that the proposed method can achieve 2.89× performance improvement over the conventional implementation.

Abstract Background Gangrenous cholecystitis (GC) is a serious clinical condition associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. Machine learning (ML) has significant potential in addressing the diverse characteristics of real data. We aim to develop an explainable and cost-effective predictive model for GC utilizing ML and Shapley Additive explanation (SHAP) algorithm. Results This study included a total of 1006 patients with 26 clinical features. Through 5-fold CV, the best performing integrated learning model, XGBoost, was identified. The model was interpreted using SHAP to derive the feature subsets WBC, NLR, D-dimer, Gallbladder width, Fibrinogen, Gallbladder wallness, Hypokalemia or hyponatremia, these subsets comprised the final diagnostic prediction model. Conclusions The study developed a explainable predictive tool for GC at an early stage. This could assist doctors to make quick surgical intervention decisions and perform surgery on patients with GC as soon as possible.
