BackgroundAfter fertilization, the fusion of gametes results in the formation of totipotent zygote. During sperm-egg fusion, maternal factors participate in parental chromatin remodeling. H3.3 is a histone H3 variant that plays essential roles in mouse embryogenesis.MethodsHere, we used transgenic early embryos expressing H3.3-eGFP or H2B-mCherry to elucidate changes of histone mobility.ResultsWe used FRAP analysis to identify that maternally stored H3.3 has a more significant change than H2B during maternal-to-embryonic transition. We also found that H3.3 mobile fraction, which may be regulated byde novoH3.3 incorporation, reflects chromatin compaction of parental genomes in GV oocytes and early embryos.ConclusionsOur results show that H3.3 kinetics in GV oocytes and early embryos is highly correlated with chromatin compaction status of parental genomes, indicating critical roles of H3.3 in higher-order chromatin organization.

The life cycle of the cabbage beetle

The pine caterpillar, Dendrolimus punctatus Walker (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae), is one of the most serious defoliators of pine trees (Pinus spp.) in China. Despite this, little is known with regard to the reproductive behavior of this insect. In the present study, we investigated the circadian rhythm of adult eclosion, mating and oviposition under laboratory conditions. The age at which moths mate and the frequency and duration of mating bouts were recorded. Eclosion and mating behavior were limited to nocturnal hours. Male and female eclosion peaked between 3 and 4 h, and between 4.5 and 5.5 h after the initiation of scotophase, respectively. Mating behavior peaked between 10 and 11.5 h after the initiation of scotophase. Most ovipositions occurred during the scotophase, displaying one distinct peak between 3 and 3.5 h after the initiation of scotophase. More than 70 % of matings occurred on the first scotophase after adult eclosion and the percentage of successful matings declined dramatically with moth age, indicating age was an important factor in the mating success of this species. If males or females paired with newly ecloced virgin partners after each successful mating, 57.6 % of males and 24.2 % of females mated more than once, mating an average of 2.0 ± 0.2 and 1.3 ± 0.1 times, respectively, suggesting males are generally polygynous, while females are monandrous. The copulation duration of this moth lasted on average 16.6 ± 0.1 h and was not influenced by moth age and female mating frequency, but was negatively influenced by male mating frequency. These data provide basic information to further study the mating system of D. punctatus, and could lead to the development of behavior-based pest control strategies of this species.

In 2013, Bai and Zhang (Numer Linear Algebra Appl 20:425–439, 2013) constructed modulus-based synchronous multisplitting methods by an equivalent reformulation of the linear complementarity problems into a system of fixed-point equations and studied their convergence. In 2014, Zhang and Li (Comput Math Appl 67:1954–1959, 2014) analyzed and obtained the weaker convergence results for linear complementarity problems. In this paper, based on their ideas, we further study modulus-based synchronous block multisplitting multi-parameter methods for linear complementarity problems. Furthermore, the convergence results of our new method in this paper are wider than those in literature when the system matrix is a block $$H_{+}$$ -matrix. Therefore, new results provide a guarantee for the optimal relaxation parameters.

In this paper, based on generalized conjugate residual squared (GCRS2) algorithm in Zhang et al. (2010 Third International Conference on Information and Computing, pp 326–329, 2010) and the ideas in Gu et al. (Appl Math Comput 186:1243–1253, 2007), we present an improved generalized conjugate residual squared (IGCRS2) algorithm, which is designed for distributed parallel environments. The improved algorithm reduces two global synchronization points to one by changing the computation sequence in the GCRS2 algorithm and all inner products per iteration are independent and communication time required for inner product can be overlapped with useful computation. Theoretical analysis and numerical comparison about isoefficiency analysis show that the IGCRS2 method has better parallelism and scalability than the GCRS2 method and the parallel performance can be improved by a factor of about 2.

It is widely accepted that the genetic divergence and reproductive incompat- ibility between closely related species and/or populations is often viewed as an important step toward speciation. In this study, sexual compatibility in crosses between the southern XS population and the northern TA population of the polyandrous cabbage beetle Co- laphellus bowringi was investigated by testing their mating preferences, mating latency, copulation duration, and reproductive performances of post-mating. In choice mating ex- periments, the percentages of matings were significantly higher in intra-population crosses than in inter-population crosses. Both isolation index (I) and index of pair sexual isolation (IPSI) indicated partial mating incompatibility or assortative mating in crosses between the two different geographical populations. In single pair mating experiments, XS females in inter-population crosses mated significantly later and copulated significantly shorter than those in intra-population crosses. However, TA females in inter-population crosses mated significantly earlier and copulated longer than those in intra-population crosses, suggesting that larger XS males may enhance heterotypic mating. The lifetime fecundity was highest in XS homotypic matings, lowest in TA homotypic matings, and intermedi- ate in heterotypic matings between their parents. The inter-population crosses resulted in significantly lower egg hatching rate and shorter female longevity than intra-population crosses. These results demonstrated that there exist some incompatibilities in premating, postmating-prezygotic, and postzygotic stages between the southern XS population and northern TA population of the cabbage beetle Colaphellus bowringi.

Sparse Matrix Vector Multiplication (SpMV) is one of the most basic problems in scientific and engineering computations. It is the basic operation in many realms, such as solving linear systems or eigenvalue problems. Nowadays, more than 90 percent of the world’s highest performance parallel computers in the top 500 use multicore architecture. So it is important practically to design the efficient methods of computing SpMV on multicore parallel computers. Usually, algorithms based on compressed sparse row (CSR) format suffer from a number of nonzero elements on each row so hardly as to use the multicore structure efficiently. Compressed Sparse Block (CSB) format is an effective storage format which can compute SpMV efficiently in a multicore computer. This paper presents a parallel multicore CSB format and SpMV based on it. We carried out numerical experiments on a parallel multicore computer. The results show that our parallel multicore CSB format and SpMV algorithm can reach high speedup, and they are highly scalable for banded matrices.

The influence of female age on male mating preference and reproductive success has been studied using a promiscuous cabbage beetle, Colaphellus bowringi Baly (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae). In a simultaneous choice test, middle-aged females had significantly greater mating success than young and old females. In single pair trials, when paired with middle-aged virgin males, middle-aged females mated faster, copulated longer, and had greater fecundity and fertility than young or old females, while the longevity of males was not significantly affected by female age. This study on C. bowringi suggests that middle-aged females are more receptive to mating, which can result in the highest male reproductive success.

This paper deals with the problem of stochastic stability analysis for stochastic nonlinear delay hybrid singular system in this paper. Based on linear matrix inequality approach, a delay dependent condition is proposed, which ensures the stochastic nonlinear delay hybrid singular system is stochastically stable with H performance under zero initial conditions. Finally, an example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The problem of Stochastic stability analysis for singular time-delay hybrid system with Markovian jumping parameters and standard Wiener process in this paper. Based on linear matrix inequality approach, a delay dependent condition is proposed, which ensures the singular hybrid system is stochastically stable.

Objective : Cinnamomun amphora(L.)Presl is a kind of one of the important economical tree species and valuable timber species in southern China,It had important meanding to analyze its volatile oil consitituent on expanding its utilization and increasing the added value.Methods:The volatile compounds of Fruit of Cinnamomun amphora(L.)Presl were isolated with steam distillation,and identified by capillary GC/MS /DS and the relative contents of the constitons were detemined by area normalization method. Rusults: 60 volatile components were identified and determined,accounting for 94.69% of the total area of the peaks.Conclusion: The main volatile compounds are: Methyleugenol,Safrene Eucalyptol,Caryophyllene ,Terpineol,Sabinene ,πSelinene ,L-4-terpineol,α-πPinenα-,πTerpieol,Myrcene,Gamma terpinene,πSelinenol,Alloaromadendren,Isoledene,2-Carene,π-Cadinene .

It is generally thought that females can receive more of the material benefits from males by increasing mating frequency and polyandry can lead to greater reproductive success. The cabbage beetle, Colaphellus bowringi Baly (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), is a highly promiscuous species, in which females or males can readily mate repeatedly with a given partner or multiple partners at a very high frequency. In the present study, the effect of mating frequency (number of matings) and mating pattern (polyandry vs. monogamy) on female reproductive fitness was investigated by measuring fecundity, fertility, and female longevity. The results indicated that increased female mating frequency with the same male did not result in variation in lifetime fecundity, but significantly increased fertility and decreased female longevity. Moreover, five copulations were sufficient to acquire maximal reproductive potential. Female lifetime fecundity also did not differ between polyandrous and monogamous treatments. However, monogamous females exhibited a significant increase in fertility and significant prolongation of longevity compared with polyandrous females, further demonstrating that monogamy is superior to polyandry in this beetle.

According to the user’s high technical requirement in papermaking process, advanced control system has been supplied to satisfy the performances. Meanwhile, energy consumption and cost are considered. The computer integrated process system (CIPS) of process industry which could effectively integrate enterprise resource planning, management execution system and process control system information is necessary and suitable for papermaking process. Here based on the analysis of pulp and paper process, we put forward the papermaking process computer integrated process system and try to obtain the optimal control project and execution system. And a novel optimized application project based on SIMATIC PCS7 distributed control system proves the excellence of computer integrated process system.

According to the analysis of papermaking process, combined with the principle of cross-directional basis weight(BW) detecting and controlling, predictive function control based on CARMA(Controlled Auto Return Integral Moving Average Model) model is proposed to solve the problem of time delay, nonlinearity and uncertainty of the multi-dimension system. Simulations show that multivariable predictive functional control algorithm for fast tracking velocity, good dynamic performance, and it can effectively reduce the mutual coupling effects between variables. The method has the feasibility of applying to practical papermaking process.

We have previously shown that N-n-butyl haloperidol iodide (F(2)), a newly synthesized compound, reduces ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury by preventing intracellular Ca(2+) overload through inhibiting L-type calcium channels and outward current of Na(+)/Ca(2+) exchanger. This study was to investigate the effects of F(2) on activity and protein expression of the rat myocardial sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-ATPase (SERCA) during I/R to discover other molecular mechanisms by which F(2) maintains intracellular Ca(2+) homeostasis. In an in vivo rat model of myocardial I/R achieved by occluding coronary artery for 30-60 min followed by 0-120 min reperfusion, treatment with F(2) (0.25, 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 mg/kg, respectively) dose-dependently inhibited the I/R-induced decrease in SERCA activity. However, neither different durations of I/R nor different doses of F(2) altered the expression levels of myocardial SERCA2a protein. These results indicate that F(2) exerts cardioprotective effects against I/R injury by inhibiting I/R-mediated decrease in SERCA activity by a mechanism independent of SERCA2a protein levels modulation.

The antioxidant capacity of the human body is closely related to its ability of disease resistance and anti-aging. It is a current research focus to find effective anti-oxidants used in medicine, food, health care, beauty make-up from natural plants. In this paper, we studied the content of selenium in selenium polysaccharide and its antioxidant activity in vitro of Thlaspi caerulescens L. produced from Yutangba of Enshi selenium mining area. The double tracts atomic fluorescence spectrometry is used to detect the total selenium content in the sample and that of selenium polysaccharide in the active ingredient of the sample. The salicylic acid method and pyrogallol autoxidation method are used to detect the scavenging activity of selenium polysaccharide on hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anion. Experiments show that the total amount of selenium in Thlaspi caerulescens L. is 708ug.g-1, while the amount of selenium in selenium polysaccharide is 98.1ug.g-1, accounting 13.86% of the total selenium content. Meanwhile, selenium polysaccharide in samples is with significant antioxidant capacity, and it shows a certain dose-effect relationship. Selenium polysaccharide has stronger anti-oxidation ability than pure polysaccharide compared with non-selenium polysaccharide. Therefore, plants rich in selenium are better natural antioxidants. This study will provide the necessary experimental basis for the effective and rational development and utilization of Thlaspi caerulescens L. rich in selenium

The pharmacokinetic features and metabolism of the novel cytotoxic nucleoside analog Compound 003 (3'-azidothymidine 5'-[p-methoxyphenyl methoxyalaninyl phosphate], CAS 149560-32-7) were studied in both human cancer cells and mice. In mice, Compound 003 was rapidly converted into ala-AZT-MP (CAS 209214-06-2) and zidovudine (azidothymidine, AZT, CAS 30516-87-1). Maximum ala-AZT-MP concentrations were reached almost immediately (tmax < 5 min), while 50.4 min and 143.5 min were required to reach maximum AZT concentrations after intravenous and oral administration, respectively. The results indicate that paraoxon-sensitive carboxylesterases play an important role in the conversion of Compound 003 to ala-AZT-MP. This study provides the basis for future preclinical as well as clinical pharmacodynamic studies of Compound 003.
