However, a poor integration rate and high risk of tumorigenicity after cell transplantation limits their clinical application. Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) contain bioactive molecules for neuronal protection and regeneration. Previous studies have shown that stem/progenitor cell-derived sEVs can promote neuronal survival and recovery of neurological function in neurodegenerative eye diseases and other eye diseases. In this study, we intravitreally transplanted sEVs derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) and hiPSCs-differentiated NPCs (hiPSC-NPC) in a mouse model of optic nerve crush. Our results show that these intravitreally injected sEVs were ingested by retinal cells, especially those localized in the ganglion cell layer. Treatment with hiPSC-NPC-derived sEVs mitigated optic nerve crush-induced retinal ganglion cell degeneration, and regulated the retinal microenvironment by inhibiting excessive activation of microglia. Component analysis further revealed that hiPSC-NPC derived sEVs transported neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory miRNA cargos to target cells, which had protective effects on RGCs after optic nerve injury. Background: Sepsis is a serious infectious disease caused by various systemic inflammatory responses and is ultimately life-threatening. Patients usually experience depression and anxiety, which affect their sleep quality and post-traumatic growth levels., Aim: To investigate the effects of sepsis, a one-hour bundle (H1B) management was combined with psychological intervention in patients with sepsis., Methods: This retrospective analysis included 300 patients with sepsis who were admitted to Henan Provincial People's Hospital between June 2022 and June 2023. According to different intervention methods, the participants were divided into a simple group (SG, n = 150) and combined group (CG, n = 150). H1B management was used in the SG and H1B management combined with psychological intervention was used in the CG. The changes of negative emotion, sleep quality and post-traumatic growth and prognosis were compared between the two groups before (T0) and after (T1) intervention., Results: After intervention (T1), the scores of the Hamilton Anxiety scale and Hamilton Depression scale in the CG were significantly lower than those in the SG ( P < 0.001). Sleep time, sleep quality, sleep efficiency, daytime dysfunction, sleep disturbance dimension score, and the total score in the CG were significantly lower than those in the SG ( P < 0.001). The appreciation of life, mental changes, relationship with others, personal strength dimension score, and total score of the CG were significantly higher than those of the SG ( P < 0.001). The scores for mental health, general health status, physiological function, emotional function, physical pain, social function, energy, and physiological function in the CG were significantly higher than those in the SG ( P < 0.001). The mechanical ventilation time, intensive care unit stay time, and 28-d mortality of the CG were significantly lower than those of the SG ( P < 0.05)., Conclusion: H1B management combined with psychological intervention can effectively alleviate the negative emotions of patients with sepsis and increase their quality of sleep and life., Competing Interests: Conflict-of-interest statement: The authors declare no conflict of interest., (©The Author(s) 2024. In this study, an in situ ATR-IR technique was used as a powerful tool to gain insight into the synthetic process of p -hydroxyphenylglycine ( p -HPG) by the sulfamic acid-glyoxylic acid-phenol method. Combined with other chemical and instrumental analysis technologies, the reaction sequence and key intermediates of this one-pot reaction were determined, and two concomitant reaction paths have been put forward for the first time. The possible reaction mechanism has been suggested, and the reaction efficiency of each path is discussed in detail. Through the optimization of the experimental parameters, an approximately 40% increase in the final product yield was achieved compared with previous reports. We believe that this study will without a doubt trigger research interest in understanding the industrial production process of important chemicals and pharmaceuticals and as a result will promote the sustainable development and application of novel, efficient chemical reaction routes.

Objective: To evaluate the function of transposed ovary and its affecting factors in young women with cervical cancer., Methods: The patients of cervical cancer who were admitted into Peking University People's Hospital during September 1999 to January 2004 and underwent ovarian transposition in peritoneal cavity, were followed regularly and analyzed retrospectively. The questionnaire of climacteric symptoms and sexual activity were designed and delivered to all patients. Serum levels of estradiol and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) were measured and transposed ovaries were observed with B ultrasound post operation., Results: The climacteric symptoms of patients who received transposed ovary unilaterally or bilaterally were not difference significantly at the mean follow-up times of 14.2 and 17.4 months, respectively (P > 0.05). However, of the patients who underwent adjuvant radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy post-surgery, climacteric symptoms were significantly more common (85%) than without adjuvant therapy (13%) (P < 0.05). Serum estradiol, and FSH levels and climacteric symptoms of the patients, who received adjuvant radiotherapy, had no significant difference between the ovaries transposed 2 cm above and 2 cm below anterosuperior horizontal iliac spine., Conclusions: Transposed ovary to peritoneal cavity could preserve the function of ovary. Once the patients undergo adjuvant radiotherapy, the function of transposed ovary will be affected wherever the transposed ovary locates 2 cm above or below anterosuperior horizontal iliac spine.
