However, its biological roles in HCC cell ferroptosis remain unclear.Methods and Results: In this study, we found that HCC cells with high metastatic potential were more resistant to ferroptosis, indicating that ferroptosis is related to HCC metastasis. The levels of lipid reactive oxygen species (ROS) were found to be much lower in HCC cells with high metastatic potential by flow cytometry (FCM). We used HCC cells with miR-612 overexpression/knockout and HADHA overexpression/knockdown to test cell viability after stimulation with RSL3. HCC cells overexpressing miR-612 were more sensitive to ferroptosis, and miR-612 could increase lipid ROS levels. Furthermore, colony formation assays and Transwell assays showed that miR-612 could inhibit the proliferation and metastasis of HCC cells by promoting ferroptosis. We next confirmed that miR-612 influenced HCC cell ferroptosis by regulating HADHA. HADHA could upregulate the expression of key enzymes in the mevalonate (MVA) pathway. HADHA overexpression upregulated the expression of CoQ10 and decreased polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) levels and lipid peroxide abundance. miR-612 also suppressed HCC cell proliferation and metastasis by enhancing RSL3- and lovastatin-induced ferroptosis in vivo.Conclusion: Overall, miR-612 promotes ferroptosis in HCC cells and affects HCC proliferation and metastasis by downregulating CoQ10 and increasing cellular PUFA levels and lipid peroxides via the HADHA-mediated MVA pathway.Keywords: HCC, Ferroptosis, miR-612, HADHA, MVA pathway

In this work, the equal-water activities for the ternary system LiCl−KCl−H2O and its sub-binary systems LiCl−H2O were determined using an isopiestic method at 323.15 K. The determined isopiestic composition lines for the LiCl−KCl−H2O system were found to deviated Zdanovskii rule high with increasing ionic strength of the mixture solution. The addition of KCl to an aqueous solution of LiCl was found to decrease and increase the water activity at low and high LiCl molality. The Pitzer–Simonson–Clegg (PSC) model was used to represent the experimental determined water activities of the titled system and the calculated values are discussed. Based on the calculated results, the turning point appears at about 17.0 mol kg−1 LiCl solution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Power Electronic Building Block (PEBB) concept is to provide generic building blocks for power conversion, regulation and distribution with control intelligence and autonomy. A comprehensive modeling and analysis of a PEBB based dc distribution power system (DPS), comprising of a front end power factor correction (PFC) boost rectifier, a DC-DC converter and a three phase four leg inverter, is performed. All the subsystems of the de DPS are modeled and analyzed for stability and good transient performance. The effect of impedance overlap on the system and individual subsystems is examined. Ability of a PEBB based converter to stabilize the integrated system by actively changing the system bandwidth is presented. Keywords: DC Distribution, system stability, power conversion

Due to the complications in the measurement of fine particulate matter (PM2.5), this paper proposes a method using lidar for assessing PM2.5. By calculating the aerosol optical depth (AOD) for MODIS, CALIPSO, and ground-based lidar, the corrected PM2.5 was predicted. The results showed that AOD and PM2.5 had a linear relationship. The linear correlation coefficient between ground-based lidar AOD and PM2.5 was 0.81, and the root-mean-square error (RMSE) and mean deviation (MD) were 24.43 and 18.41, respectively. The linear correlation coefficient between CALIPSO AOD and PM2.5 was 0.8, and its RMSE and MD were 42.91 and 33.25, respectively. The linear correlation between AOD and PM2.5 for VIIRS was approximately 0.7. This paper provides more possibilities for lidar observation and prediction of the environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the product-service system (PSS), products are carriers of functions and media of services. Currently, value creation in PSS is directly related to the capabilities of the product-service solutions provided to serve customer demands and supplier business interest over time. There is a need for an evaluation approach that can identify in what manner and to what extent products and services should best be bundled in the development of a company’s value proposition. Furthermore, with an increasing focus on the sustainability profile of business operations, it is necessary to incorporate environmental impact measures with technical performance and cost measures to present a more comprehensive value assessment of product-service development. In this paper, a sustainability-oriented value assessment model is proposed as an attempt for product-service development decision support based on life cycle thinking. In this proposed approach, the fitness for extended utilisation indicators, the net present value (NPV) approach and life cycle assessment (LCA), are applied as the measures of life cycle performance, life cycle cost, and life cycle environmental impact, which are used for value assessment. A case study on a solar heating system will be presented to show how the assessment model can be used to support the evaluation and selection of different product-service development alternatives. The electronic structure of cyano-substituted poly(2,5-dihexyloxy-p-phenylene-vinylene), or CN-PPV, has been studied in both pristine and doped states. Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), as well as optical absorption spectroscopy have been carried out under ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) conditions, and the results have been interpreted with the help of quantum-chemical calculations. For the pristine polymer, the addition of cyano groups to the vinylene units does not affect the width of the π-bands closest to the Fermi level; however, the positions of the flat parts of the upper π-bands are shifted by approximately 0.4 eV towards higher binding energies relative to the Fermi energy, as compared with the corresponding bands of other alkoxy-substituted poly(p-phenylenevinylene)s. On the other hand, there are only marginal differences in the optical absorption spectra; the interband absorption onset is comparable to the values for alkoxy-substituted poly(p-phenylenevinylene)s. In the case of sodium doping, it is found experimentally that at saturation doping, there is about one sodium ion per phenylene vinylene unit; in that situation, two new states appear in the previously forbidden energy bandgap, which are consistent with the formation of bipolaron bands. These results are similar to those obtained for sodium-doping of poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV). The peak-to-peak splitting of the bipolaron peaks in CN-PPV is 1.05 eV, compared with about 2.0 eV for sodium-doped PPV at saturation doping; this difference is related to the pinning of some of the transferred charges to the cyano vinylene groups and the phenylene rings that they are conjugated to in CN-PPV, causing a stronger confinement of the bipolaron charge carriers. © 1995 American Institute of Physics. The histochemical distribution of acid phosphatase (ACP), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), non-specific esterase (NSE), peroxidase (POD) and mucous-cell types was evaluated in the gastrointestinal tract of the half-smooth tongue sole Cynoglossus semilaevis. The enzymes were detected in the entire stretch of the gastrointestinal tract. ACP activity was found in the supranuclear region of enterocytes and the lamina propria of the intestine, as well as the cytoplasm of epithelial cells of the stomach. The staining intensity of ACP in the anterior and posterior intestines was stronger than in the stomach. ALP activity was detected in the striated border of enterocytes and muscularis of the whole intestine, lamina propria and supranuclear cytoplasm of the enterocytes in the anterior intestine, as well as in the blood vessels of the stomach. The staining intensity for ALP in the anterior intestine was stronger than in the posterior segment and the latter was stronger than in the stomach. NSE activity was detected in the cytoplasm of the epithelial cells in the entire gastrointestinal tract, with the anterior intestine showing stronger intensity than the stomach. POD activity was located in the blood cells of the lamina propria of the gastrointestinal tract and the levels in the stomach were similar to the anterior and posterior intestines. Alcian blue (pH 2·5) periodic acid Schiff (AB-PAS) histochemical results revealed three types of mucous cells in the gastrointestinal tract. Type I cells (PAS+AB-) were observed among the gastric mucosa columnar cells in the stomach and enterocytes in the basal region of the villi and in the middle and top regions of the intestinal villi. Type II cells (PAS-AB+) and type III cells (PAS+AB+) were not detected in the stomach but were distributed ubiquitously among enterocytes in the middle and top regions of the intestinal villi.
