Recently, blue-emitting phosphors have attracted great interest due to their application in full-spectrum white light illumination.

Using the solid-state method, a novel optical thermometer, RbCaLa1-x(VO4)2:xEu3+ phosphor, was synthesized. Using X-ray diffraction, the phase of the RbCaLa1-x(VO4)2:xEu3+ was confirmed. The microstructure was then observed in the SEM pattern. To estimate the temperature, the fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) method was used. To explain the temperature-sensing properties, the absolute (Sa) and relative (Sr) sensitivities were calculated. The maximum Sa and Sr values were then determined as 2.215% and 1.125% at 473 and 423 K, respectively. After multiple heating and cooling processes, the FIR value corresponding to each temperature stabilized. This indicated the reliability of the FIR fitting formula. Subsequently, to examine the formula's accuracy, multiple temperature points ranging from 298 to 473 K were selected. The results demonstrated that the measurement error could be controlled in ±1.1 K. The difference was considerably lesser in the high-temperature region (400–430 K), and the error was in ±0.21 K. Under UV light, the colors of the RbCaLa0.82(VO4)2:0.18Eu3+ phosphor and RbCaLa(VO4)2 matrix were somewhat different, and both considerably changed with temperature. All results showed that the Eu3+-doped RbCaLa(VO4)2 phosphor is a good candidate material as an optical temperature sensor and anti-counterfeiting coating.

Two cyan-emitting phosphors with different bandwidths were successfully synthesized through the high-temperature solid-state method in a reducing atmosphere. The crystal structures, morphologies, and luminescence properties of the as-prepared phosphors were investigated. The Rietveld refinements of the powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) data demonstrated the single phase of the samples, and two crystallographic sites of La3+ were observed in the crystal structure. Under the excitation of UV light, both Ba0.45Ca2.5La6(SiO4)6: 0.05 Eu2+ and Ba1.45Ca1.5La6(SiO4)6: 0.05 Eu2+ phosphors emitted cyan light due to the 4f65 d1→4f7 transitions of the Eu2+ ion. The emission spectra could be well fitted by two component Gaussian peaks corresponding to two different coordination environments of the Eu2+ ions. The temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectra show a large difference on the thermal stability between the two phosphors. The two phosphors exhibit effective absorption of near-UV light and their internal quantum efficiencies (IQEs) were calculated as 31.5% and 42.4% under 295 nm UV-light excitation. The experimental results indicate that the novel cyan phosphors might have potential applications in white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on the near-UV LED chip.

The health benefits of drinking tea stem from it being rich in polyphenols and other physiologically-active substances. Thus, exploring the synergistic effect between polyphenols and a variety of physiologically-active substances can contribute to our understanding of how tea benefits health. In this work, we have studied the interactions between catechin and theanine, exploring the synergetic antioxidant mechanism of the two molecules. Electrochemical characterization results showed that the oxidation peak current of catechin decreased gradually with the concentration of theanine, which is due to theanine spontaneously binding to catechin through intermolecular hydrogen bonds and forming molecular clusters

Intermolecular hydrogen bond, as a kind of weak interaction, plays a fundamental and important role in the molecular recognition process on cell membrane surface. Based on the complexity of the cell membrane and its microenvironment, the self-assembled monolayer with clear structure is used to simulate the cell membrane to construct the simulation system. The intermolecular hydrogen bond on the surface of the self-assembled is explored at the molecular level, which provided a new perspective for the study of molecular recognition on the cell membrane surface. In this paper, combined with the advantages of scanning electrochemical microscopy, the progress on the intermolecular hydrogen bond on the surface of self-assembled monolayer is introduced from the electrochemical viewpoint.

Tea wine is a Chinese traditional alcoholic drink made by cereal and tea leaves. It is rich in tea polyphenols, caffeine, amino acids, and protons and possesses various healthcare functions. In this work, electrochemical methods, as well as density functional theory (DFT) calculations, were adopted to reveal the proton-coupled electron-transfer process of catechin in tea wine. The electrochemical results showed that the catechin preferred hydrogen-bonding with ethanol and formed molecular clusters. Thus, the direct electron-transfer process of catechin changed to proton-coupled electron transfer. This procedure reduced the energy barrier of the redox reaction and enhanced the anti-oxidative capacity. Subsequently, DFT calculations were employed to explore the bond length, bond energy, and HOMO-LUMO energy gap of catechin, which confirmed the above-mentioned mechanism. Our work offers some positive value for the scientific promotion of traditional food and a greater understanding of the health mechanisms in terms of chemistry.

The topic of intermolecular interactions enhancing electron tunneling between protein residues on biofilm surface has been investigated by some theoretical studies. However, few of experimental studies could confirm this viewpoint. In this work, the Mercaptopropionic acid self-assembled monolayer (MPA SAM) with terminal carboxyl groups was constructed, as a simplified model for functionalized biomimic membrane. The electron tunneling rate constant of ferrocenylmethanol redox process on SAM was obtained from experimental results of scanning electrochemical microscopy. It is found that the electron tunneling across MPA SAM is faster than that of contrastive Methyl mercaptopropionate SAM. This result is attributed to the intermolecular interactions between the redox and MPA molecules. The conditions of lower pH and weaker ion pair effect all benefit the formation of the intermolecular interactions, resulting the enhancement of electron tunneling more obvious. Based on this, this kind of intermolecular interaction is inferred to be intermolecular hydrogen bond. Our work may have contributions to exploring electron tunneling between protein residues on biofilm surface.

Dopamine, a neurotransmitter, controls many psychological and behavioral activities of the mammalian central nervous system. Over secretion of dopamine can make the body overexcited and lead to mental disorders. Whereas, less secretion can develop Parkinson’s symptoms. Therefore, achieving controlled release of dopamine plays a vital role in life sciences. In this work, two kinds of self-assembled monolayers were prepared by non-covalent and covalent assembly, respectively, to reach the function of dopamine controllable release. After characterization of the two self-assembled monolayers, the release function was well monitored and analyzed by scanning electrochemical microscopy. The result showed that ion pair effect, as well as acids and alkali, would stimulate a steady-state release of dopamine on the non-covalent monolayers. The combined effect of alkali and positive potential would stimulate a steady-state release of dopamine on the covalent monolayers. This work successfully reaches the controllable release of dopamine in vitro, and offers some reference value for this function in vivo.

Objective: MiR-498 has emerged as a potential molecular target for several cancer. In this study, we aimed to investigate the important function and mechanisms of miR-498 in gastric cancer.Methods: To detect the important roles of miR-498 in gastric cancer, we first measured its expression by RT-qPCR in gastric cancer cell lines. The impact of the miR-498 on gastric cancer cell proliferation were detected by CCK-8 and colony formation assays. The effect of the miR-498 on the cell apoptosis and cell cycle were detected by flow cytometry. We also used the scratch and transwell chamber assays to measure the cell migration and invasion. The expression levels of related proteins were assessed by western blot. The bioinformatics analysis was used to explore the target gene of miR-498. RT-qPCR and western blot assays were used to detect the expression levels of FOXK1 in response to miR-498 overexpression. In order to prove the role of FOXK1 in mediating the effect of miR-498 on the gastric cancer, CCK-8, colony formation, transwell chamber and flow cytometry assays were used for the further investigations.Results: The expression level of miR-498 is downregulated in gastric cancer cell lines. Overexpression of miR-498 inhibited proliferation and migration/invasion, while promoted the apoptosis of gastric cancer cells. Bioinformatics analysis indicated that miR-498 targeted on FOXK1 to inhibit the gastric cancer in vitro.Conclusion: MiR-498/FOXK1 axis may be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of gastric cancers.

Innovative syntheses of uniform and size-controlled chlorapatite crystals need to be developed. Molten salt synthesis is a simple process, which uses low temperatures and short reaction times to obtain synthesized powders with uniform chemical composition as well as good crystal morphology and high-phase purity. In this study, a molten salt synthesis was used to prepare ClAP microcrystallites at different temperatures, reaction times, and quantities of molten salt. ClAP microcrystallites with different sizes and morphologies were obtained, and the process parameters were optimized. The phase formation and morphologies of the ClAP microcrystallites were examined by X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results determined the optimal parameters, as follows: synthesis temperature, 600 °C; reaction time, 4 h; and ClAP/molten salt ratio, 1 : 3. The reaction time and the quantity of the molten salt, as well as the growth mechanism of the ClAP microcrystallites, were proposed based on the phase formation and morphologies of ClAP synthesized at various temperatures. ClAP phosphors activated using different ions (Sb3+, Eu2+, and Tb3+) were prepared by the molten salt method at 600 °C for 4 h with a ClAP/salt ratio of 1 : 3. The as-prepared ClAP:Sb3+/Eu2+/Tb3+ phosphors exhibited a blue-green emission (470 nm), a blue emission (460 nm), and a green emission (547 nm). Their excellent photoluminescence properties indicated their potential for application in white light emitting diodes.

Owing to preferable anti-interference and anti-cumulative-error capabilities, polarized skylight navigation technology has been developed. However, in urban environments with extensive demand, the sky is usually partially obscured by buildings and trees. Urban landscape obscurations with polarization patterns that have not been sufficiently studied can greatly influence navigation accuracy. In this paper, we study the polarization patterns generated by obscurations and summarize the impacts of obscured urban sky scenes on the navigation results. We also propose a full-sky polarization imaging navigation method adapted to urban environments. A compact full-sky polarimeter is established, and a specific pattern inpainting algorithm based on convolution operation is proposed to amend the navigation errors caused by obscurations. Among 174 sets of comparative experiments, 90.2% of the extraction results are improved after inpainting, which verifies the effectiveness and robustness of the method. Discussions on the optimization of parameters in the algorithm and the recommended values are also provided. This work offers a novel approach to overcome the impacts of obscurations for urban polarization navigation.

The competition of intermolecular interactions occurring on the cellular surface plays a vital role in governing biological recognition processes. Herein, the competition between ion-pair and electrostatic interaction on the surface of a reliable artificial membrane, 3-mercaptopropionic acid self-assembled monolayer (3-MPA SAM), was investigated using scanning electrochemical microscopy (secm). The electroactive agent ferrocenemethanol (FcCH2OH) with one hydroxyl group is adsorbed by terminal carboxyl groups of 3-MPA SAM via hydrogen bonding. Once FcCH2OH was oxidized into ferroceniummethanol (Fc+CH2OH) by applying an oxidative potential, the electrostatic interaction between Fc+CH2OH and the deprotonated carboxyl group of 3-MPA became the dominant intermolecular force in the reaction system accompanied by the breaking of hydrogen bonding. With the addition of perchlorate anion (ClO4−), noticeable competition between the ion-pair and electrostatic interaction was observed owing to the spontaneous pairing of Fc+CH2OH and ClO4−. The competitive strength of ion-pair could be enhanced by increasing ClO4− concentration or solution acidity. Compared with the other six anions, ClO4− has been proved to exhibit more effective competition with the electrostatic interaction, which might attribute to the differences in hydration energy and the pairing capacities with Fc+CH2OH. This work may contribute to comprehending the biological recognition on the cellular surface and deserve further investigation.

Oxidation of dopamine inside synaptic vesicles has been considered as one of inducements for Parkinson's disease. Dopamine molecules are often oxidized to quinones, making damages to neurotransmission process. Thus, exploring a controllable molecular switch for dopamine oxidation would make great significance in physiology. In this work, a binary homocysteine-dodecanethiol self-assembled monolayers was constructed on gold surface as a specific molecular switch. Scanning electrochemical microscopy was adopted to investigate the switch behavior for dopamine oxidation. The results showed that the molecular switch was at the ON state in a weak alkaline solution and dopamine oxidation would occur. While, the molecular switch was at the OFF state in a weak acidic solution and dopamine oxidation would be cut off. This controllable ON-OFF phenomenon was attributed to charge reversal on the surface of self-assembled monolayer. Then, Density Functional Theory calculation was adopted to calculate the HOMO-LUMO band gap of dopamine-homocysteine cluster. The theoretical calculation exhibited that charge reversal of homocysteine could adjust the energy barrier of dopamine oxidation. This work would offer some contributions to studies of dopamine oxidation in cellular physiology.

In this research a class of graphene modified electrodes based on self-assembled monolayer assisted binding of partially oxidized graphene on gold was achieved. The electrodes show two features: (1) the tunable electron-transfer mediation ability which is controlled by the oxidation degree of the graphene, and (2) the ability of in-situ electrochemical disassembly. The tunable electron-transfer mediation ability was investigated by interpreting the cyclic voltammogram recorded with the classic redox couple, potassium ferricyanide/ferrocyanide. The ability of in-situ electrochemical disassembly was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in the case of enzyme adsorption. It was found that the “on” and “off” conditions of the partially oxidized graphene correspond to the assembly and disassembly of the mercaptosuccinic acid self-assembled monolayer respectively, endowing the electrodes with the ability of in-situ electrochemical disassembly. In addition, the experimental results on glucose sensing illustrate the potential applications of the graphene modified electrodes.

Quantification of the amount of intermolecular hydrogen bonding between ferrocenemethanol and 3-mercaptopropanoic acid on gold was performed by cyclic voltammetry as well as by the finite element simulation, displaying a proof-of-concept that the slight changes of cyclic voltammetry features are used potentially for interpreting the weak molecular interactions. Ferrocenemethanol at a bulk concentration level of 0.5 mM adsorbs on the 3-mercaptopropanoic acid surface by hydrogen bonding, with the fractional surface coverage ranging from 0% to 14% of a monolayer in accordance with the surface coverage of 3-mercaptopropanoic acid which was explored by electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance. The intermolecular hydrogen bonding between ferrocenemethanol and the mercaptopropanoic acid was found to exhibit a Langmuir-type adsorption with the average value of K being 0.24 mM–1. The fabrication and luminescent performance of novel phosphors Na2YMg2V3O12:Dy3+ were investigated by a conventional solid-state reaction method. Under near-UV light, the Na2YMg2V3O12 host self-activated and released a broad emission band (400–700 nm, with a peak at 524 nm) ascribable to charge transfer in the (VO4)3− groups. Meanwhile, the Na2YMg2V3O12:Dy3+ phosphors emitted bright yellow light within both the broad emission band of the (VO4)3- groups and the sharp peaks of the Dy3+ ions at 490, 582, and 663 nm at a quenching concentration of 0.03 mol. The emission of the as-prepared Na2YMg2V3O12:Dy3+ phosphors remained stable at high temperatures. The obtained phosphors, commercial Y2O3:Eu3+ red phosphors, and BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ blue phosphors were packed into a white light-emitting diode (WLED) device with a near-UV chip. The designed WLED emitted bright white light with good chromaticity coordinates (0.331, 0.361), satisfactory color rendering index (80.2), and proper correlation to a color temperature (7364 K). These results indicate the potential utility of Na2YMg2V3O12:Dy3+ phosphor as a yellow-emitting phosphor in solid-state illumination.

Probing a switch on biomimic membrane surfaces would offer some references to the research on permeability of cytomembranes. In this work, a mixed 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid/1-undecanethiol self-assembled monolayer (MUA/UT SAM) was constructed as a model of a biomembrane. In this mixed SAM, the MUA molecules work as functional parts for the switch and the UT molecules work as diluents. The surface coverage, wetting property, and pKa of this mixed SAM all have been well-inspected. The mixed SAM exhibits excellent switchable properties for cations, which is well-monitored by scanning electrochemical microscopy. When the pH of a solution is higher than the pKa, protons would stimulate a shift of dissociation equilibrium of terminal carboxyl groups. The dissociated carboxylate ions would lead to a switch on the state of the SAM. Otherwise, the SAM shows an off state when the pH is lower than the pKa. In addition, the repeatability, applicability, and the mechanism of the switch all have been well-evaluated.

A new optical thermometer material—Er3+-doped SrNb2O6—based on the fluorescence intensity ratio was synthesized and investigated by both theoretical calculation and experimental measurement, combining X-ray diffractometry (XRD), XRD Rietveld refinement, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photon emission spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL) and PL excitation of qualitative and quantitative analysis, to develop a novel green-emitting phosphor with excellent thermometry sensitivity. The Er3+ ions occupied 4e sites of SrNb2O6, and the stable activator occupation induces luminescence properties of emissions at 525, 531, and 550 nm. The SrNb2O6: Er3+ phosphor possesses an outstanding thermal sensitivity in the measurement region of 298–523 K, where Sa and Sr can achieve 6.15 × 10−3 K−1 and 1093.2711/T2, respectively, at 323 K. The optical thermal properties originated from the thermal excitation and formation of quashing thermal equilibrium between 2H11/2 and 4S3/2 levels, leading to photons on 4S3/2 → 4I15/2 transfer process thermally populate onto 2H11/2 → 4I15/2 transfer process. This work will lay a foundation for further exploration of activator suitability in columbite phosphors, making it practicable to foreseeably improve thermal sensitivity and PL for emergent applications in optical thermometer.

A novel bipyridine-functionalized turn-on fluorescent chemosensor was successfully synthesized and fully characterized by 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and MS, UV–vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. The sensor specifically binds to Hg 2+ over other competing ions with a significant fluorescence enhancement as well as a visual colour change under physiological conditions. The detection limit of Hg 2+ was as low as 32 nM, confirming very high sensitivity toward Hg 2+ . Moreover, the fluorescence intensity and colour change of the sensor-Hg 2+ was quenched by I − or S 2− and was proportional to their concentrations with a detection limit of 0.37 μM and 0.43 μM, respectively. The reaction of I − grabbing Hg 2+ from the sensor–Hg 2+ finished in 10 s due to a stronger binding force, much faster than that of S 2− , which allowed fast detection of I − over S 2− even in a competent environment. In addition, the sensor was successfully used for the highly sensitive detection of Hg 2+ in living cells.

Two novel colorimetric and fluorescent off-on enantiomers (R/S-RBOL) were developed to detect Fe3' in aqueous and biological samples through probing the integrated changes in fluorescence, circular dichroism (CD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). The fluorescence intensity of R/S-RBOL is linearly proportional to the Fe3+ concentration in the range of 0-20 equiv., bringing out a detection limit of 1.83 x 10(-7)M. The Job's plot indicates a 1:1 binding stoichiometry of RBOL:Fe3+, which is further confirmed by ESI-MS analysis. Moreover, the RBOLs exhibit a dual-readout response in colour and fluorescence, rendering them suitable to sense Fe3+ in living cells with low cytotoxicity. In order to shed some light on the detection mechanism, the coordination between R/S-RBOL and Fe3+ is unravelled by DFT calculations. From the free RBOL to the RBOL-Fe3+ complex, the spiro-lactam ring is opened to interact with Fe3+ via the lactam N and O, imine N and hydroxyl 0 atoms in the form of a ferric six-coordinate structure. Intermolecular hydrogen bond, a kind of basic van der Waals bonds, commonly exists in biological systems. As a fundamental step in biological metabolism, the disassembly process of hydrogen bond is necessary to be given more attention. Here, we have demonstrated the disassembly of intermolecular hydrogen bond by scanning electrochemical microscopy. The intermolecular hydrogen bond was designed between the hydroxyl of ferrocenemethanol (FcCH2OH) and the carboxyl group of 3-mercaptopropionic acid (3-MPA), and FcCH2OH was bonded on 3-MPA self-assembled monolayer modified electrode surface. Cation (Mg2+, Ca2+ or Ba2+), as an external stimulus, induced the disassembly of hydrogen bond by forming ion-pair with terminal carboxylate anion. Furthermore, the inducing capability of cation was Mg2+

A ratiometric and on–off fluorescent chemosensor (PB) containing a pyrene moiety was designed and synthesized for the selective detection of trivalent chromium ion over other common metal ions using an intramolecular-charge transfer (ICT) mechanism. The fluorescence emission intensities showed a significant decrease of the emission intensity at 425 nm and formation of a new band at 594 nm upon excitation at 343 nm. A well-defined isoemissive point was observed at 564 nm with increasing Cr3 + concentration. The emission ratios (F425/F594) showed good linearity with Cr3 + concentration thereby allowing the detection of Cr3 + using a ratiometric fluorescence method with a detection limit of 0.23 μM. A Job plot indicated a 1:1 binding stoichiometry with an association constant (Ka) of 7.52 × 104 M− 1, which was further confirmed by MALDI-TOF analysis.

A fast-response, highly selective and sensitive chemosensor, 3, for Cr3+ detection with turn-on fluorescence behavior in the physiological pH range was designed and synthesized. The chemosensor contained a combined push–pull system in which the fluorescent phenanthro[9,10-d]oxazole moiety acts as both an electron donor and a potential binding site. The electron deficient nitrile group served as an electron acceptor. A significant enhancement of fluorescence emission intensities was observed with increasing Cr3+ concentration upon excitation at 300 nm. The emission intensity reached its maximum on adding 8 equiv. of Cr3+ where the quantum yield of 3-Cr3+ was found to be 0.917, ca. 7-fold larger than chemosensor 3. The selectivity mechanism of 3 for Cr3+ was found to be based on the combined effects of the inhibition of ICT and CHEF. Remarkably the entire process was virtually complete in only 10 seconds, with a minimum detection limit for Cr3+ of 1.72 × 10−8 M−1.

The trinuclear NiII cluster [Ni3(bpca)2(bpy)2(H2O)4](NO3)4·H2O (1) (bpca– = anion of bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amine, bpy = 2, 2′-bipyridine) was isolated. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed that three crystallographically independent NiII ions are located in a six-coordinate distorted octahedral environment, bridged by the organic spacer bpca–. The crystal lattice is stabilized by hydrogen bonds, which are linking the Ni3 cations and NO3– anions into a three-dimensional framework. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility for complex 1 in the range 2–300 K indicates the presence of weak antiferromagnetic interactions in the Ni3 unit with J = –0.67 cm–1.

A novel chiral dinuclear Cu(II) cluster [Cu 2 (bpca)(bpy)(H 2 O)(NO 3 ) 3 ] ( 1 ) (bpca − is the anion of bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amine and bpy is 2,2′-bipyridine), was synthesized and characterized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the two Cu(II) ions in complex 1 are sitting in a distorted octahedral arrangement and bridged by the organic spacer bpca − . Hydrogen bonding links neighboring dinuclear units into a three-dimensional framework. Inversion crystallographic symmetry gives dimers as either Λ or Δ isomers. Racemization of complex 1 was confirmed by circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility for complex 1 in the range 2–300 K indicates the presence of ferromagnetic Cu⋯Cu exchange. The data fitting gave the magnetic coupling constant J = 8.08 cm −1 .

Rare earth aluminate phosphors are well-known for being nontoxic and environmentally friendly. In this work, Tb3+-doped SrLaAlO4 phosphors were synthesized via a facile high temperature solid-state reaction method. The Optimum reaction temperature is determined to be 1300 °C based on the results of powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). The SEM patterns and TEM images correspond with the results of Rietveld refinement and show that the SrLa1-xAlO4:xTb3+ samples present a flaky structure. The results of photoluminescence spectrums (PL) show that SrLa1-xAlO4:xTb3+ phosphors can absorb in the UV–vis spectral region of 228 nm–263 nm and exhibit several emission peaks between 450 and 650 nm, and the highest peak was at 508 nm. The luminescence properties of SrLa1-xAlO4:xTb3+ have a strict dependence on the cation substitution levels. When the doping concentration of Tb3+ was 0.05, the emission intensity of the sample is strongest. The thermal quenching result of the SrLa0.95AlO4:0.05 Tb3+ phosphors shows that these phosphors are relatively sensitive to temperature changes under an excitation of 228 nm, as the temperature increases from 25 °C to 125 °C, the emission intensity (peak at 548 nm) decayed to 55.11% of that at room temperature. However, when the temperature increases to 125 °C, the emission intensity (peak at 548 nm) decayed to 61.16% of the initial value under an excitation of 263 nm, which showed a relatively good thermal stability. The internal quantum efficiency (QE) values of the SrLa0.95AlO4:0.05 Tb3+ phosphors was measured and determined to be 48%. Under excitations of 228 nm and 263 nm, the lifetimes of the optimized sample SrLa0.95AlO4:0.05 Tb3+ were 1.3986 ms and 1.2095 ms, respectively, and the CIE coordinates of the sample were calculated as (0.2971, 0.4981), (0.3056, 0.5329), respectively. Under both excitations SrLa0.95AlO4:0.05 Tb3+ exhibited high-color-purity green emission.

Shexiang Baoxin Pill (SBP) is a traditional Chinese medicine, widely used for cardiovascular diseases in the clinic. Ginsenosides are important effective components in SBP, but their pharmacokinetic characteristics are still not known. In this paper, we studied the pharmacokinetics of ginsenoside Rb1, Rc, Re and Rg1 in SBP and investigated the effect of borneol on the pharmacokinetic characteristic of ginsenosides based on an Agilent G6410A triple quadrupole LC/MS system. Results showed that the pharmacokinetic parameters of ginsenoside Rb1, Rc, Re and Rg1 in rat plasma after oral administration of SBP are significantly different with oral administration of SBP without Borneolum Syntheticum. Plasma pharmacokinetic profiles after oral administration of ginsenoside Rb1, Rc, Re, Rg1 and co-administration with borneol at three different ratios (10:1, 1:1 and 1:10 ginsenoside vs borneol, w/w) were also determined. A big challenge is the discrimination of sulfhydryl-containing amino acids due to their structural similarity. We designed and synthesized a simple fluorescent probe 3 for specific detection of cysteine based on photo-induced electron transfer (PET). The acrylate and BODIPY moieties in probe 3 act as a reaction site and reporter group, respectively. So the synergistic effect of the substituent groups endows probe 3 very strong green fluorescence at 525 nm (λex = 500 nm). The cleavage reaction induced by cysteine leads to acrylate hydrolysis, and thereby triggers PET on, which effectively quench the fluorescence of 3. Probe 3 exhibited a rapid response towards cysteine over homocysteine and glutathione. Probe 3 is successfully applied for sensing and imaging cysteine in vitro or in vivo cells with low cytotoxicity.

The nanocomposite method was used to introduce Pr 3+ into copolymer of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and methacrylic acid (MAA), and thus the nanocomposite glass was produced. The size of inorganic Pr 3+ –Al 3+ codeposition particles was tested by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the components of codeposits were analysed by X-ray diffractometry (XRD). Atom force microscope (AFM) was used to examine the size of the particles encapsulated by copolymer in the surface of nanocompisite glass. In UV wavelength we studied the fluorescence of the glass and preliminarily investigated the feasibility of the method to synthesize organic and inorganic nanocomposite optical fibre.

The title compound, [MnCl2(C24H20N6)], has been synthesized and characterized based on the multifunctional ligand 2,5-bis(2,2′-bipyridyl-6-yl)-3,4-diazahexa-2,4-diene (L). The MnIIcentre is five-coordinate with an approximately square-pyramidal geometry. TheLligand acts as a tridendate chelating ligand. The mononuclear molecules are bridged into a one-dimensional chain by two C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds. These chains are assembled into a two-dimensional layer through π–π stacking interactions between adjacent uncoordinated bipyridyl groups. Furthermore, a three-dimensional supramolecular framework is attained through π–π stacking interactions between adjacent coordinated bipyridyl groups.

Wireless backhaul systems have been considered as a promising candidate of beyond 3G wireless broadband system for mobile communications. The achievable transmission performance over radio relay channel depends on antenna directivity and radiation patterns of each antenna element. To improve the transmission performance and keep radio relay channel in an acceptable condition, it is effective to control the antenna directivity by employing multi-antenna signal transmission and reception. For this purpose, we have proposed a simple method to extend the existing single antenna relay node based on IEEE802.11a to multi-antenna system, where a cross configuration multi-antenna is applied to the existing relay nodes as external equipment. The multi-antenna system is controlled by detecting the antenna control information assigned to the lengths of the packets transmitted from the existing node. In this paper, to clarify the effectiveness of multi-antenna system in wireless multi-hop networks, we show an indoor radio propagation model based on two dimensional ray-tracing that provides realistic indoor channel characteristics and evaluate throughput performance by system level simulations. Simulation results ensure that application of directional antenna to multi-hop networks with highly efficient packet forwarding protocol, called Intermittent Periodic Transmit (IPT), improves throughput performance of the radio relay transmission in wireless backhaul.
