21. Intestinal Lymphatic Biology, Drug Delivery, and Therapeutics: Current Status and Future Directions

Abstract

Historically, the intestinal lymphatics were considered passive conduits for fluids, immune cells, dietary lipids, lipid soluble vitamins, and lipophilic drugs. Studies of intestinal lymphatic drug delivery in the late 20th century focused primarily on the drugs’ physicochemical properties, especially high lipophilicity, that resulted in intestinal lymphatic transport. More recent discoveries have changed our traditional view by demonstrating that the lymphatics are active, plastic, and tissue-specific players in a range of biological and pathological processes, including within the intestine. These findings have, in turn, inspired exploration of lymph-specific therapies for a range of diseases, as well as the development of more sophisticated strategies to actively deliver drugs or vaccines to the intestinal lymph, including a range of nanotechnologies, lipid prodrugs, and lipid-conjugated materials that “hitchhike” onto lymphatic transport pathways. With the increasing development of novel therapeutics such as biologics, there has been interest in whether these therapeutics are absorbed and transported through intestinal lymph after oral administration. Here we review the current state of understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal lymphatic system in health and disease, with a focus on aspects relevant to drug delivery. We summarize the current state-of-the-art approaches to deliver drugs and quantify their uptake into the intestinal lymphatic system. Finally, and excitingly, we discuss recent examples of significant pharmacokinetic and therapeutic benefits achieved via intestinal lymphatic drug delivery. We also propose approaches to advance the development and clinical application of intestinal lymphatic delivery strategies in the future.

28. An Illumination Compensation for Microscope Images Based on Forgetting Factor.

Abstract

In DNA ploidy analysis technology, in order to eliminate the measurement error of DNA relative content caused by uneven illumination and real-time changes in illumination, this article proposes a method of microscope illumination compensation based on forgetting factor. Firstly, multiple images under the microscope are captured, and the cell pixels in these images are cut off by the block threshold segmentation. Secondly, the illumination deviation template library is constructed through the method of illumination deviation template construction based on cumulative background filling proposed in this article. On this basis, a method of microscope illumination compensation with forgetting factor is proposed, and illumination compensation is completed through this method. Experiments show that the method proposed in this article has a good illumination compensation effect on images with uneven illumination for the lack of blank glass slides. Meanwhile, the real-time change of illumination also leads to a poor illumination compensation effect. The method proposed in this article makes the method illumination compensation more stable and accurate, thereby effectively improving the measurement accuracy of DNA ploidy analysis technology. All patients were connected to patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) pump in the end of the surgery and the patients in group S with an additional S-ketamine in PCIA pump. 36. High piezoelectricity induced by lattice distortion and domain realignment in Li2CO3-added lead-based ceramics.

Abstract

The 0.2Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3–0.1Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3–0.7Pb(Zr0.46Ti0.54)O3 + xwt% Li2CO3 ceramics were synthesized by the solid-state reaction method. After doping Li+ ions into the ceramics, the [BO6] oxygen octahedra stretch along the direction of the spontaneous polarization (Ps), which increases the Ps and improves the internal contribution to the piezoelectric properties. The calculated Ps and measured Ps have the same trend with increasing the Li2CO3 content from 0.0 to 0.6 wt%, confirming that the Rietveld refinement results are reliable. The local structural distortion is observed by scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). Meanwhile, the increased relaxation promotes the formation of short-ordered nanoscale domains, making the domain rotation and the domain-wall motion easier, thus improving the external contribution to the piezoelectric properties. The ratio of extrinsic contribution increases as the electric field increases. The nanoscale domains have lower activation energy of domain wall (Ea) movement than the micron-scale domains. 50. The Effect of Nb 2 O 5 Precursor on KNN-Based Ceramics' Piezoelectricity and Strain Temperature Stability.

Abstract

The performance of potassium sodium niobate ((K, Na) NbO3, KNN)-based lead-free piezoelectric ceramics has significantly improved over the past decade. However, the performance bottlenecks of KNN-based ceramics cannot be ignored. Here, the Nb2O5 precursor is obtained after thermal pretreatment, which can evidently improve the piezoelectric properties and strain temperature stability of KNN-based ceramics. With the help of the Nb2O5 precursor treated at 800 °C, the optimal piezoelectric constant d33 of 303 pC/N, inverse piezoelectric constant d * 33 of 378 pm/V, Curie temperature TC of 310 °C and electromechanical coupling factor kp of 42% are obtained, and the value of d33 improves by about 30% compared with that of the ceramic prepared with untreated Nb2O5 as raw material. Additionally, in comparison with the strain temperature stability of the ceramics prepared with untreated Nb2O5 as raw material, the temperature stability is enhanced.
