Iodinated contrast agents are widely utilized in numerous interventional procedures, yet posing substantial health risks to patients. This paper presents CAS-GAN, a novel GAN framework that serves as a ``virtual contrast agent" to synthesize X-ray angiographies via disentanglement representation learning and vessel semantic guidance, thereby reducing the reliance on iodinated agents during interventional procedures. Specifically, our approach disentangles X-ray angiographies into background and vessel components, leveraging medical prior knowledge. A specialized predictor then learns to map the interrelationships between these components. Additionally, a vessel semantic-guided generator and a corresponding loss function are introduced to enhance the visual fidelity of generated images. Experimental results on the XCAD dataset demonstrate the state-of-the-art performance of our CAS-GAN, achieving a FID of 5.94 and a MMD of 0.017. Highly r-process-enhanced stars are rare and usually metal-poor ([Fe/H] < - 1.0), and mainly populate the Milky Way halo and dwarf galaxies. This study presents the discovery of a relatively bright (V = 12.72), highly r-process-enhanced (r-II) star ([Eu/Fe] = +1.32, [Ba/Eu] = - 0.95), LAMOST J020632.21 + 494127.9. This star was selected from the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) medium-resolution (R ~ 7500) spectroscopic survey; follow-up high-resolution (R ~ 25,000) observations were conducted with the High Optical Resolution Spectrograph (HORuS) installed on the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC). The stellar parameters (${T_{\rm eff}}$ = 4130 K, $\rm log\,g $ = 1.52, $ \rm[Fe/H] $ = $ - $0.54, $\xi$ = 1.80 $ \rm{km\,{s^{-1}}} $) have been inferred taking into account non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (NLTE) effects. The abundances of [Ce/Fe], [Pr/Fe], and [Nd/Fe] are +0.19, +0.65 and +0.64, respectively, relatively low compared to the Solar r-process pattern normalized to Eu. This star has a high metallicity ([Fe/H] = - 0.54) compared to most other highly r-process-enhanced stars, and has the highest measured abundance ratio of Eu to H ([Eu/H] = +0.78). Automatic vessel segmentation is paramount for developing next-generation interventional navigation systems. However, current approaches suffer from suboptimal segmentation performances due to significant challenges in intraoperative images (i.e., low signal-to-noise ratio, small or slender vessels, and strong interference). In this paper, a novel spatial-frequency learning and topological channel interaction network (SPIRONet) is proposed to address the above issues. Specifically, dual encoders are utilized to comprehensively capture local spatial and global frequency vessel features. Then, a cross-attention fusion module is introduced to effectively fuse spatial and frequency features, thereby enhancing feature discriminability. Furthermore, a topological channel interaction module is designed to filter out task-irrelevant responses based on graph neural networks. Extensive experimental results on several challenging datasets (CADSA, CAXF, DCA1, and XCAD) demonstrate state-of-the-art performances of our method. Moreover, the inference speed of SPIRONet is 21 FPS with a 512x512 input size, surpassing clinical real-time requirements (6~12FPS). Lithium is a fragile but crucial chemical element in the universe, exhibits interesting and complex behaviors. Thanks to the massive spectroscopic data from the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) medium-resolution survey (MRS), we can investigate the lithium abundances in a large and diverse sample of stars, which could bring vital help to study the origin and evolution of lithium. In this work, we use the Li 6,707.8 {\AA} line to derive the lithium abundance through a template-matching method. A catalog of precise lithium abundance is presented for 795,384 spectra corresponding to 455,752 stars from the LAMOST MRS Data Release (DR) 9. Comparing our results with those of external high-resolution references we find a good consistency with a typical deviation of {\sigma} A(Li) ~ 0.2 dex. We also analyze the internal errors using stars that have multiple LAMOST MRS observations, which will reach as low as 0.1 dex when the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of the spectra > 20. Besides, our result indicates that a small fraction of giant stars still exhibit surprisingly high amount of lithium contents, and 967 stars are identified as Li-rich giants with A(Li) > 1.5 dex, accounting for ~ 2.6% of our samples. If one takes into account the fact that nearly all stars deplete lithium during the main sequence, then the fraction of Li-rich stars may exceed 2.6% much. This new catalog covers a wide range of stellar evolutionary stages from pre-main sequence to giants, and will provide help to the further study of the chemical evolution of lithium., Comment: 16 pages, 9 figures, 2 tables. Medical image segmentation takes an important position in various clinical applications. Deep learning has emerged as the predominant solution for automated segmentation of volumetric medical images. 2.5D-based segmentation models bridge computational efficiency of 2D-based models and spatial perception capabilities of 3D-based models. However, prevailing 2.5D-based models often treat each slice equally, failing to effectively learn and exploit inter-slice information, resulting in suboptimal segmentation performances. In this paper, a novel Momentum encoder-based inter-slice fusion transformer (MOSformer) is proposed to overcome this issue by leveraging inter-slice information at multi-scale feature maps extracted by different encoders. Specifically, dual encoders are employed to enhance feature distinguishability among different slices. One of the encoders is moving-averaged to maintain the consistency of slice representations. Moreover, an IF-Swin transformer module is developed to fuse inter-slice multi-scale features. The MOSformer is evaluated on three benchmark datasets (Synapse, ACDC, and AMOS), establishing a new state-of-the-art with 85.63%, 92.19%, and 85.43% of DSC, respectively. Maps are fundamental medium to visualize and represent the real word in a simple and 16 philosophical way. The emergence of the 3rd wave information has made a proportion of maps are available to be generated ubiquitously, which would significantly enrich the dimensions and perspectives to understand the characteristics of the real world. However, a majority of map dataset have never been discovered, acquired and effectively used, and the map data used in many applications might not be completely fitted for the authentic demands of these applications. This challenge is emerged due to the lack of numerous well-labelled benchmark datasets for implementing the deep learning approaches into identifying complicated map content. Thus, we develop a large-scale benchmark dataset that includes well-labelled dataset for map text annotation recognition, map scene classification, map super-resolution reconstruction, and map style transferring. Furthermore, these well-labelled datasets would facilitate the state-of-the-art machine intelligence technologies to conduct map feature detection, map pattern recognition and map content retrieval. We hope our efforts would be useful for AI-enhanced cartographical applications.

Offline reinforcement learning (RL) aims to optimize policy using collected data without online interactions. Model-based approaches are particularly appealing for addressing offline RL challenges due to their capability to mitigate the limitations of offline data through data generation using models. Prior research has demonstrated that introducing conservatism into the model or Q-function during policy optimization can effectively alleviate the prevalent distribution drift problem in offline RL. However, the investigation into the impacts of conservatism in reward estimation is still lacking. This paper proposes a novel model-based offline RL algorithm, Conservative Reward for model-based Offline Policy optimization (CROP), which conservatively estimates the reward in model training. To achieve a conservative reward estimation, CROP simultaneously minimizes the estimation error and the reward of random actions. Theoretical analysis shows that this conservative reward mechanism leads to a conservative policy evaluation and helps mitigate distribution drift. Experiments on D4RL benchmarks showcase that the performance of CROP is comparable to the state-of-the-art baselines. Notably, CROP establishes an innovative connection between offline and online RL, highlighting that offline RL problems can be tackled by adopting online RL techniques to the empirical Markov decision process trained with a conservative reward. Model-based reinforcement learning (RL), which learns environment model from offline dataset and generates more out-of-distribution model data, has become an effective approach to the problem of distribution shift in offline RL. Due to the gap between the learned and actual environment, conservatism should be incorporated into the algorithm to balance accurate offline data and imprecise model data. The conservatism of current algorithms mostly relies on model uncertainty estimation. However, uncertainty estimation is unreliable and leads to poor performance in certain scenarios, and the previous methods ignore differences between the model data, which brings great conservatism. Therefore, this paper proposes a milDly cOnservative Model-bAsed offlINe RL algorithm (DOMAIN) without estimating model uncertainty to address the above issues. DOMAIN introduces adaptive sampling distribution of model samples, which can adaptively adjust the model data penalty. In this paper, we theoretically demonstrate that the Q value learned by the DOMAIN outside the region is a lower bound of the true Q value, the DOMAIN is less conservative than previous model-based offline RL algorithms and has the guarantee of safety policy improvement. Robot-assisted intervention has shown reduced radiation exposure to physicians and improved precision in clinical trials. However, existing vascular robotic systems follow master-slave control mode and entirely rely on manual commands. This paper proposes a novel offline reinforcement learning algorithm, Conservative Actor-critic with SmOoth Gradient (CASOG), to learn manipulation skills from human demonstrations on vascular robotic systems. The proposed algorithm conservatively estimates Q-function and smooths gradients of convolution layers to deal with distribution shift and overfitting issues. Furthermore, to focus on complex manipulations, transitions with larger temporal-difference error are sampled with higher probability. Comparative experiments in a pre-clinical environment demonstrate that CASOG can deliver guidewire to the target at a success rate of 94.00\% and mean backward steps of 14.07, performing closer to humans and better than prior offline reinforcement learning methods. Augmented sports videos, which combine visualizations and video effects to present data in actual scenes, can communicate insights engagingly and thus have been increasingly popular for sports enthusiasts around the world. Yet, creating augmented sports videos remains a challenging task, requiring considerable time and video editing skills. On the other hand, sports insights are often communicated using natural language, such as in commentaries, oral presentations, and articles, but usually lack visual cues. Thus, this work aims to facilitate the creation of augmented sports videos by enabling analysts to directly create visualizations embedded in videos using insights expressed in natural language. To achieve this goal, we propose a three-step approach - 1) detecting visualizable entities in the text, 2) mapping these entities into visualizations, and 3) scheduling these visualizations to play with the video - and analyzed 155 sports video clips and the accompanying commentaries for accomplishing these steps. Informed by our analysis, we have designed and implemented Sporthesia, a proof-of-concept system that takes racket-based sports videos and textual commentaries as the input and outputs augmented videos. We demonstrate Sporthesia's applicability in two exemplar scenarios, i.e., authoring augmented sports videos using text and augmenting historical sports videos based on auditory comments. A technical evaluation shows that Sporthesia achieves high accuracy (F1-score of 0.9) in detecting visualizable entities in the text. An expert evaluation with eight sports analysts suggests high utility, effectiveness, and satisfaction with our language-driven authoring method and provides insights for future improvement and opportunities., Comment: 10 pages, IEEE VIS conference

Hypergraphs that can depict interactions beyond pairwise edges have emerged as an appropriate representation for modeling polyadic relations in complex systems. With the recent surge of interest in researching hypergraphs, the centrality problem has attracted abundant attention due to the challenge of how to utilize the higher-order structure for the definition of centrality metrics. In this paper, we propose a new centrality method (HGC) on the basis of the gravity model as well as a semi-local HGC (LHGC) which can achieve a balance between accuracy and computational complexity. Meanwhile, two comprehensive evaluation metrics, i.e., a complex contagion model in hypergraphs that mimics the group influence during the spreading process and network s-efficiency based on the higher-order distance between nodes, are first proposed to evaluate the effectiveness of our methods. The results show that our methods can filter out nodes that have fast spreading ability and are vital in terms of hypergraph connectivity.

The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) Low Resolution Spectroscopic Survey (LRS) provides massive spectroscopic data of M-type stars, and the derived stellar parameters could bring vital help to various studies. We adopt the ULySS package to perform $\chi^2$ minimization with model spectra generated from the MILES interpolator, and determine the stellar atmospheric parameters for the M-type stars from LAMOST LRS Data Release (DR) 8. Comparison with the stellar parameters from APOGEE Stellar Parameter and Chemical Abundance Pipeline (ASPCAP) suggests that most of our results have good consistency. For M dwarfs, we achieve dispersions better than 74 K, 0.19 dex and 0.16 dex for $T_{\rm eff}$, $\log{g}$ and [Fe/H], while for M giants, the internal uncertainties are 58 K, 0.32 dex and 0.26 dex, respectively. Compared to ASPCAP we also find a systematic underestimation of $\Delta {T_{\rm eff}} =$ $-$176 K for M dwarfs, and a systematic overestimation of $\Delta {\log{g}} =$ 0.30 dex for M giants. However, such differences are less significant when we make comparison with common stars from other literature, which indicates that systematic biases exist in the difference of ASPCAP and other measurements. A catalog of 763,136 spectra corresponding to 616,314 M-type stars with derived stellar parameters is presented. We determine the stellar parameters for stars with $T_{\rm eff}$ higher than 2,900 K, with $\log{g}$ from -0.24 dex to 5.9 dex.
