6. Superimposed Pilots for Cell-Free Massive MIMO Over Spatial-Correlated Rician Fading Channels

Abstract

In Cell-Free Massive multi-input multi-output (CF mMIMO), it is challenging to assign regular pilots due to the pre-log pilot overhead on spectral efficiency (SE). This paper explores a superimposed-pilot-(SP)-assisted CF mMIMO system which avoids the separate pilot training duration by superimposing pilot symbols onto data symbols. We consider spatial-correlated Rician fading channels with and without random phase shifts, where linear minimum-mean-square-error (LMMSE) estimators are performed at each access point locally. Then, we derive the closed-form SE expressions with maximal-ratio (MR) combining. To fill the gap, we introduce novel expressions of MMSE combining vectors and compare their SE performance with approximate MMSE combining vectors. Next, a generic model is provided for the optimal large-scale fading decoding (LSFD), and we derive the closed-form suboptimal LSFD solutions with MR combining. A line-of-sight-based combining scheme is proposed based on the approximate analysis, where closed-form SE expressions are derived using MR and MMSE combining and corresponding optimal LSFD coefficients. Numerical results show that the combination of MMSE and optimal LSFD yields almost 200% enhancement over the combination of MR and simple centralized decoding in 95% likely per-user SE without phase shifts, and 111% enhancement when phase shifts exist.

7. Near-Field Cell-Free Massive MIMO With Channel Aging: A Modified LoS Model

Abstract

In this letter, we propose a novel and modified beam-steering model based on asynchronous reception under a near-field cell-free massive multiple-input-multiple-output (CF mMIMO) system. Our model reveals that CF mMIMO establishes a near-field environment via multiple far-field planar waves from distributed access points. We further prove that the proposed model has the potential to reduce multi-user interference. Accordingly, we analyze the downlink spectral efficiency (SE) of the near-field CF mMIMO system with channel aging. We employ the near-field steering model to characterize line-of-sight components and spatial correlation matrices. Subsequently, we derive the closed-form SE expression of maximum-ratio transmission. Numerical results show that the modified model outperforms the common model due to much lower correlation between two adjacent locations, and CF mMIMO can benefit from its inherent near-field characteristic.

Abstract

Everolimus, a known inhibitor of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), has shown uncertain efficacy in treating hepatoblastoma. This study delves into the potential anti‐hepatoblastoma properties of everolimus and its intricate relationship with autophagy and ferroptosis, both in vitro and in vivo. In vivo, tumor tissue from hepatoblastoma patient and human hepatoblastoma cell line HuH‐6 were xenografted into nude mice to establish xenograft models for observing the effect of everolimus on tumor growth. In vitro, HuH‐6 cells were cultured to evaluate the anti‐hepatoblastoma activity of everolimus. Transmission electron microscopy and microtubule‐associated proteins 1 light chain 3 (LC3), beclin 1, and p62 protein expressions were employed to investigate autophagy. Additionally, indicators of cell apoptosis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) and proteins associated with ferroptosis were measured to evaluate ferroptosis. The results demonstrate that everolimus treatment effectively induced the formation of autophagosomes in hepatoblastoma cells, upregulated the LC3II/I ratio and beclin 1 expression, and downregulated p62 expression, indicating an enhanced autophagy level both in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, everolimus treatment induced cell apoptosis, increased ROS level, elevated concentrations of malondialdehyde, 4‐hydroxynonenal, and iron content, while reducing the ratio of glutathione/oxidized glutathione, and downregulating the protein expression of glutathione peroxidase 4 and solute carrier family 7 member 11, suggesting its ability to induce ferroptosis in hepatoblastoma cells. Importantly, the induction of ferroptosis by everolimus was significantly reversed in the presence of autophinib, an autophagy inhibitor, indicating the autophagy‐dependent of everolimus‐induced ferroptosis. Taken together, these findings suggest that everolimus holds promise as an effective anti‐hepatoblastoma drug, with its mechanism of action potentially involving the induction of autophagy‐dependent ferroptosis in hepatoblastoma cells. 12. Performance Analysis for User-Centric Cell-Free Massive MIMO Systems With Hardware Impairments and Multi-Antenna Users

Abstract

Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF mMIMO) is known for its ability to provide ubiquitous connectivity. In this paper, we investigate the achievable spectral efficiency (SE) of a user-centric (UC) CF mMIMO system with both multi-antenna APs and users over joint-correlated Rayleigh fading channels. First, we provide a performance analytical framework for the system with the linear decorrelator and study the impact of hardware impairments (HIs) at transceivers on the uplink SE. Based on that, we discuss the local minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) and partial MMSE combining schemes and the partial large-scale fading decoding (LSFD) method from a scalable point of view. Besides, the exact closed-form SE expression is derived with maximum ratio combining (MRC). Then, we study the MMSE-based successive interference cancelation (MMSE-SIC) detector and give an approximate closed-form SE expression with MRC. In the simulations, we compare the linear decorrelator to the MMSE-SIC detector under different hardware-impaired scenarios. Numerical results correspond to the theoretical analyses and show that the impact of HIs can be mitigated by adding the number of receive antennas.

Abstract

Anti-cancer peptides (ACPs) are a series of short peptides composed of 10–60 amino acids that can inhibit tumour cell proliferation or migration, or suppress the formation of tumour blood vessels, and are less likely to cause drug resistance. The aforementioned merits make ACPs the most promising anti-cancer candidate. However, ACPs may be degraded by proteases, or result in cytotoxicity in many cases. To overcome these drawbacks, a plethora of research has focused on reconstruction or modification of ACPs to improve their anti-cancer activity, while reducing their cytotoxicity. The modification of ACPs mainly includes main chain reconstruction and side chain modification. After summarizing the classification and mechanism of action of ACPs, this paper focuses on recent development and progress about their reconstruction and modification. The information collected here may provide some ideas for further research on ACPs, in particular their modification.

Abstract

A generator of the gliding arc jet (GAJ), which is driven by a transverse magnetic field, is developed to produce non-equilibrium plasma at atmospheric pressure. The gas temperature is estimated using the spectrum of OH radicals to be about 2400±400 K. The determinations of electron temperature and electron density by using a line-ratio method are elaborated for the gliding arc jet plasma. This line-ratio method is based on a collisional-radiative model. The experiment results show that electron temperature is about 1.0 eV and electron density is about 6.9 × 1014 cm−3. Obviously, the plasma of GAJ is in a non-equilibrium state.

Abstract

The gliding arc can offer high energy efficiency and selectivity for chemical reactions and has been widely applied in material processing, environmental protection and other industrial areas. But the discharge properties, measurement of plasma parameters and related physical processes of the gliding arc discharge still need to further studied. In this study, the gliding arc was driven by the transverse magnetic field to produce the non-equilibrium plasma at high pressure. The parameters of the plasma at our observed point were measured by optical methods. The experimental result shows that the electron temperature is about 0.6 eV and the heavy particle temperature is approximately 2987?250 K.

Abstract

An efficient optimization approach based on parallel processing and genetic algorithm for a multiconverter power system is presented in this paper. The system consists of several clients and one server. The genetic algorithm helps the system to reach maximum efficiency over the entire load range. Meanwhile, WiFi is employed to achieve high-speed data transfer. Also, a benefit from the parallel processing and structure is that the optimization time has been exponentially reduced. The experimental results show that the prototype can achieve optimal efficiency over the entire load range, and the optimizing process is accelerated five times in average because of the parallel processing © 2017 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Abstract

Modal testing is essential to correct the structure of dynamics model and optimized structure designs. The electromagnetic actuator is mainly applied to control the frequency of modal analysis testing system in the field of low frequency and super-low frequency. Firstly, the main principle of the modal testing system is introduced; then, the mechanical and electrical property of electromagnetic actuator is shown on the basis of theory analysis and experiment. And an improved electromagnetic actuator is given. At last, the experimental results indicate that the improvements of the electromagnetic actuator can enhance the loading strength ability of the suspension system. At the same time, it improved the heat dispersion capability. The improved electromagnetic actuator reached the required compensation of electromagnetic strength to the heavy testing sample.

Abstract

The products obtained from the low-temperature oxidation of n-butane in a jet-stirred reactor (JSR) have been analysed using two methods: gas chromatography analysis of the outlet gas and reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The mass spectrometer was combined with tunable synchrotron vacuum ultraviolet photoionization and coupled with a JSR viaa molecular-beam sampling system. Experiments were performed under quasi-atmospheric pressure, for temperatures between 550 and 800 K, at a mean residence time of 6 s and with a stoichiometric n-butane/oxygen/argon mixture (composition = 4/26/70 in mol%). 36 reaction products have been quantified, including in addition to the usual oxidation products, acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, C1, C2and C4alkylhydroperoxides and C4ketohydroperoxides. Evidence of the possible formation of products (dihydrofuranes, furanones) derived from cyclic ethers has also been found. The performance of a detailed kinetic model of the literature has been assessed with the simulation of the formation of this extended range of species.
