This study investigates the dynamic propagation of solution droplets in frost-free air source heat pump systems, focusing on calcium chloride and ethylene glycol solutions. The research examines three key stages: droplet impact on a surface, collision with stationary droplets, and impact on a stabilized liquid film. Key findings include that increased surface contact angle and solution concentration inhibit droplet spreading, while higher impact velocity enhances it. Droplet retraction is influenced by surface tension and adhesion, with calcium chloride droplets showing variable retraction and ethylene glycol droplets consistently retracting less as concentration increases. Collisions with stationary droplets lead to behaviors such as merging, spreading, and rebound, with higher velocity accelerating these processes. In the final impact stage, a stable liquid film formation results in crown sputtering and oscillation, where sputtering height is inversely related to concentration but increases with impact velocity. These insights contribute to optimizing droplet management in air treatment systems.

As a pathogen, Photobacterium damselae subsp. damselae (PDD) is distributed widely in the marine environment, and the host species of PDD are diverse. Although in the past decade the number of reports on the pathogenicity of PDD to marine animals has gradually increased, it is necessary to study this further in order to establish targeted prevention and technical control measures to reduce harm to marine organisms. In this study, a high-virulence PDD strain (PDD1608) was selected to explore the effect of the virulence gene dly on the biological characteristics and pathogenicity. The dly-deleted mutant strain Δdly PDD1608::Cm was successfully constructed using the λRed recombination technique. The biological characteristics of the wild-type and mutant strains were compared, including growth, swarming motility, drug susceptibility, physiological and biochemical characteristics, biofilm formation ability, and hemolytic and phospholipase activity of extracellular products (ECP). Meanwhile, Oryzias melastigma was used as the target host, and the pathogenicity of wild-type and mutant strains and their ECPs to O.melastigma was detected by the artificial infection test. There was a positive correlation between the results of the bacterial solution and ECP challenge, indicating that deletion of the dly gene affects the virulence of the PDD strain. Deletion of the virulence gene dly resulted in slower growth of the PDD mutant strain; reduced swarming and hemolytic and phospholipase activity; no change in the drug susceptibility or physiological and biochemical characteristics of the wild type and mutant strains; compared with the wild type strain, significant different (P < 0.05) biofilm formation ability of the mutant strain; the artificial infection test showed that the pathogenicity of the mutant strain and its ECP decreased. The results of this study revealed that the virulence gene dly affects many biological characteristics of PDD strains, such as growth, swarming motility, and hemolytic and phospholipase activity, and it was found to be closely related to the pathogenicity of the PDD strain and ECP.The results of this study contribute to further study of the influence of the virulence gene dly on the biological characteristics of the PDD strain in order to determine the appropriate prevention and control measures to curtail its spread and infection. The artificial infection test of the model organism O.melastigma helps provide an animal reference model for further exploration of the pathogenic mechanism and infection process of the PDD strain on the host. The results of the ECP experiments provide a theoretical reference for the research and development of PDD subunit vaccines.

ObjectTo investigate the effects of Shen Qi Bu Qi Powder (SQBQP) on the average daily gain, blood indexes, gastrointestinal microflora, and serum metabolites of calves.MethodsA total of 105 calves were randomly assigned to three groups (n = 35 per group): the control group (C, fed with a basal diet for 21 days) and two treatment groups (SQBQP-L and SQBQP-H, fed with the basal diet supplemented with 15 and 30 g/kg of SQBQP), respectively for 21 days. The active components of SQBQP were identified using LC-MS/MS. Serum digestive enzymes and antioxidant indices were determined by ELISA kits and biochemical kits, respectively. Serum differential metabolites were analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), while flora in rumen fluid and fecal were analyzed by 16S rDNA sequencing. Further correlation analysis of gastrointestinal flora and serum metabolites of SQBQP-H and C groups were performed with Spearman’s correlation.ResultsThe principal active components of SQBQP mainly includes polysaccharides, flavonoids, and organic acids. Abstract Background In patients with previously treated RAS-mutated microsatellite-stable (MSS) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), a multicenter open-label phase 1b/2 trial was conducted to define the safety and efficacy of the MEK1/MEK2 inhibitor binimetinib in combination with the immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) nivolumab (anti–PD-1) or nivolumab and another ICI, ipilimumab (anti-CTLA4). Methods In phase 1b, participants were randomly assigned to Arm 1A (binimetinib 45 mg twice daily [BID] plus nivolumab 480 mg once every 4 weeks [Q4W]) or Arm 1B (binimetinib 45 mg BID plus nivolumab 480 mg Q4W and ipilimumab 1 mg/kg once every 8 weeks [Q8W]) to determine the maximum tolerable dose (MTD) and recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) of binimetinib. The MTD/RP2D was defined as the highest dosage combination that did not cause medically unacceptable dose-limiting toxicities in more than 35% of treated participants in Cycle 1. During phase 2, participants were randomly assigned to Arm 2A (binimetinib MTD/RP2D plus nivolumab) or Arm 2B (binimetinib MTD/RP2D plus nivolumab and ipilimumab) to assess the safety and clinical activity of these combinations. Results In phase 1b, 21 participants were randomized to Arm 1A or Arm 1B; during phase 2, 54 participants were randomized to Arm 2A or Arm 2B. The binimetinib MTD/RP2D was determined to be 45 mg BID. In phase 2, no participants receiving binimetinib plus nivolumab achieved a response. Of the 27 participants receiving binimetinib, nivolumab, and ipilimumab, the overall response rate was 7.4% (90% CI: 1.3, 21.5). Out of 75 participants overall, 74 (98.7%) reported treatment-related adverse events (AEs), of whom 17 (22.7%) reported treatment-related serious AEs. Conclusions The RP2D binimetinib regimen had a safety profile similar to previous binimetinib studies or nivolumab and ipilimumab combination studies. There was a lack of clinical benefit with either drug combination. Therefore, these data do not support further development of binimetinib in combination with nivolumab or nivolumab and ipilimumab in RAS-mutated MSS mCRC. Abstract Background Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar abortus equi (S. abortus equi) is one of the main pathogens that causes abortion in pregnant horses and donkeys, which was highly infectious and greatly restricts the healthy development of the horse industry. Objectives In order to investigate the prevalence and biological characteristics of S. abortus equi in different regions and breeds of horses in Xinjiang. Methods This study conducted ELISA detection of S. abortus equi antibodies on serum samples of 971 horses collected from three large-scale horse farms and five free-range horse farms in Yili Prefecture and Bayingol Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang from 2020 to 2023. On this basis, bacterial isolation, culture, identification, and drug sensitivity tests were conducted on 42 samples of aborted foal tissues and 23 mare vaginal swabs. Results The results showed that the positive rate of S. abortus equi antibody was as high as 20.91% in 971 horse serum samples. Among them, the positive rate in the Ili region (29.09%) was significantly higher than that in the Bayingole region (11.24%), and the positive rate in mares (22.45%) was higher than that in stallions (14.05%). In terms of horse breeds, the positive rates of self-propagating thoroughbred horses, half-bred horses, Ili horses and Yanqi horses were 43.22%, 28.81%, 14.72% and 11.24% respectively. In addition, S. abortus equi was more susceptible to juvenile and elderly horses, with positive rates of 70.00%and 41.86%, respectively, both of which were significantly higher than young (10.97%) and adult (19.79%) horses. Further, 9 strains of S. abortus equi were obtained through bacterial isolation, culture and identification, which were resistant to five antibiotics (Clarithromycin, Clindamycin, penicillin, Sulfamethoxazole and Rifampicin), and sensitive to 13 antimicrobial agents (Amoxicillin, Ciprofloxacin and Gentamicin, et al.). Conclusion There was a high infection rate of S. abortus equi in Ili Prefecture and self-propagating thoroughbred horses, and juvenile or old mares were more susceptible, which will provide scientific basis for the prevention of S. abortus equi infection in different regions and breeds of horses in Xinjiang.

Abstract Background Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) affect one in five birthing individuals and represent a leading cause of maternal mortality. While these disorders are associated with a variety of poor outcomes and generate significant societal burden, underdiagnosis and undertreatment remain significant barriers to improved outcomes. We aimed to quantify whether the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act (ACA) improved PMAD diagnosis and treatment rates among Michigan Medicaid enrollees. Methods We applied an interrupted time series framework to administrative Michigan Medicaid claims data to determine if PMAD monthly diagnosis or treatment rates changed after ACA implementation for births 2012 through 2018. We evaluated three treatment types, including psychotherapy, prescription medication, and either psychotherapy or prescription medication. Participants included the 170,690 Medicaid enrollees who had at least one live birth between 2012 and 2018, with continuous enrollment from 9 months before birth through 3 months postpartum. Results ACA implementation was associated with a statistically significant 0.76% point increase in PMAD diagnosis rates (95% CI: 0.01 to 1.52). However, there were no statistically significant changes in treatment rates among enrollees with a PMAD diagnosis. Conclusion The ACA may have improved PMAD detection and documentation in clinical settings. While a higher rate of PMAD cases were identified after ACA Implementation, Post-ACA cases were treated at similar rates as Pre-ACA cases.

Given the challenges of restricted land resources and net-zero carbon city initiatives, it is crucial to seek a balance between intensive land use and carbon neutrality during the construction of development zones. By incorporating net-zero carbon balance into the land use efficiency evaluation system and utilizing a quasi-natural experiment based on the 2009 provincial development zone upgrading policy, this study investigates the policy’s impact on urban land use efficiency under the net-zero carbon city goal. The study finds that the upgrading of provincial development zones significantly enhances urban land use efficiency, while exhibiting the dual effects of reducing carbon emissions and increasing carbon sinks. Mechanism analysis reveals that the upgrade policy improves land use efficiency by enhancing land-use and environmental regulations, optimizing resource allocation, and fostering green technological innovation. Heterogeneity analyses show that the policy effect is more significant in eastern and central cities, with the impact being strongest in central cities. Additionally, the impact of upgrading to a national high-tech development zone is greater than that of upgrading to a national economic development zone. This article provides insights into how to use industrial policies effectively to achieve intensive land use and high-quality development while aiming for carbon neutrality.

In addressing the performance degradation issue of district cooling systems, although various evaluation methods exist, they either neglect design objectives or focus on independent equipment, overlooking the synergies between devices. Therefore, the study establishes a comprehensive performance assessment framework, encompassing efficiency, environmental impact, economic factors, and technological aspects. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Entropy Weight Method are employed to determine the comprehensive weights for each indicator. In a specific case study, the operational status of an existing district cooling system is assessed, considering collaborative interactions among equipment. A fault tree analysis is applied to scrutinize 13 potential events contributing to system inefficiency and their logical relationships with relevant parameter variations. Based on these findings, specific optimization measures, such as check valve replacement and adjustments to pump and fan frequencies, are recommended. The performance of the optimized system is then re-evaluated, demonstrating substantial improvements with comprehensive performance scores increasing from 18.3 to 27.8 and 29.5, respectively.

Exostosis (also known as osteochondroma) is the most common benign bony lump of young people, usually arising at the distal femur. Vascular complications associated with exostoses are rare and include true aneurysm or pseudoaneurysm formation, deep vein thrombosis, arteriovenous fistula, and arterial insufficiency of the limbs. Few case reports describe pseudoaneurysms resulting from exostoses in mature adults, and no consensus has been reached regarding the optimal therapy. We report the case of a 51-year-old male patient complaining of persistent right thigh pain with a pulsatile mass and right calf swelling, without a history of trauma or hereditary multiple exostoses. The diagnosis was confirmed by computed tomography angiography, which showed a pseudoaneurysm of the popliteal artery resulting from an exostosis on the lateral aspect of the distal femur. A Doppler ultrasound examination confirmed popliteal vein thrombosis caused by the compression of the pseudoaneurysm. Surgical treatment consisted of removing the exostosis, excision of the pseudoaneurysm, and an end-to-end anastomosis. The deep vein thrombosis was treated with rivaroxaban for 3 months. The patient was discharged after 6 days and followed up for 6 months with satisfactory results.

Objectives To investigate the association of hypertension with depressive and anxiety disorders in middle-aged and older Chinese women, and to further assess whether the association was influenced by socioeconomic status (SES).Design Nationwide cross-sectional study.Setting Six provinces of the eastern, central and western regions of China.Participants Women aged 40–70 years were included by a multistage stratified random cluster sampling in 2018 (N=9900).Primary outcome measures Depressive and anxiety disorders were measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, respectively. Logistic regression models were used to evaluate the OR and 95% CI for hypertension and the odds of depressive and anxiety disorders.Results 18.5% of participants reported having hypertension; 20.9% and 15.3% of women experienced depressive and anxiety disorders, respectively. After adjusting for potential confounders, women diagnosed with hypertension were more likely to have depressive (OR=1.27, 95% CI 1.11 to 1.45) and anxiety disorders (OR=1.48, 95% CI 1.28 to 1.71) than those without hypertension. Stratified analyses demonstrated that hypertension was significantly associated with higher odds of depressive disorders in women living in rural areas (OR=1.34, 95% CI 1.13 to 1.59), with lower levels of education (OR=1.28, 95% CI 1.12 to 1.46) and with average monthly household income

The roof plays a pivotal role as it directly engages with solar radiation absorption and external heat exchange, significantly influencing the building’s overall energy dynamics. To assess the performance of green roofs and cool roofs, a roof performance test facility was established in Nanjing. Time-difference comparison experiments were conducted to measure and analyze the energy-saving effects of cool roofs, green roofs, and conventional roofs during both summer and winter conditions. The study aimed to investigate how their thermal performance impacts building energy consumption. The study’s findings reveal that under summer conditions, the incorporation of a cool roof system leads to a substantial enhancement in energy efficiency, achieving an impressive 13.2% energy savings compared to conventional roofing solutions. In contrast, the implementation of a green roof system results in a more modest energy-saving rate of 4.1%. Transitioning to winter conditions, the adoption of a cool roof system shows a marginal increase of 2.8% in energy consumption compared to conventional roofs. Interestingly, the green roof system stands out as an energy-efficient option during winter, demonstrating a significant 4.9% reduction in energy consumption. This approach ensured reliable and valid results to provide a comprehensive view of how different roof types respond to varying climatic conditions.

Abstract Background Early essential newborn care (EENC) is a package of evidence-based and cost-effective interventions delivered around birth mainly including delayed cord clamping, immediate and sustained skin-to-skin contact, and early initiation of exclusive breastfeeding. EENC is proven effective in promoting breastfeeding and improving women’s and newborns’ health. However, there is little evidence on implementation of EENC on newborns born by cesarean section in China. Therefore, the objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of EENC intervention on rates of exclusive breastfeeding and early initiation of breastfeeding for cesarean section newborns in China. Methods This is a multi-centered, randomized controlled trial conducted in 4 tertiary hospitals in China. A total of 720 eligible women who will receive cesarean section are being randomized into four groups: control group (n=180), intervention group 1 (skin-to-skin contact for 30 min, n=180), intervention group 2 (skin-to-skin contact for 60 min, n=180), and intervention group 3 (skin-to-skin contact for 90 min, n=180). The control group will receive routine care, whereas the intervention groups will receive EENC with different duration of skin-to-skin contact. Demographic characteristics, clinical information, and breastfeeding outcomes will be collected. The primary outcome is rates of exclusive breastfeeding and early initiation of breastfeeding, and the secondary outcomes include maternal and neonatal morbidity and admissions. Discussion This study will provide evidence of the impact of EENC on improvement of breastfeeding outcomes and maternal and neonatal health for cesarean section newborns in China, and evidence-based recommendation to inform optimal duration of skin-to-skin contact for cesarean deliveries. The results of this study have potential to inform national-level guidelines and policy-making for optimizing EENC implementation for cesarean section newborns. Abstract Background Depression and anxiety have become main public health concerns globally. However, risk factors for depression and anxiety remain unclear. This study was to examine the prevalence and risk factors of depressive and anxiety symptoms in middle-aged Chinese women. Methods This cross-sectional study, conducted in 2018, included 7,727 women aged 40–60 years from the eastern, central and western regions of China. Depressive and anxiety symptoms were determined by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and the Generalized Anxiety Disorders-7, respectively. Logistic regression models were used to estimate odds ratios (ORs) for depressive and anxiety symptoms in relation to sociodemographic, lifestyle and menopausal factors. Results Among all participants, 19.5% (1 422/7 275) and 14.2% (1 035/7 275) of participants experienced depressive and anxiety symptoms, respectively. The multivariable logistic regression models showed that age, household income, regular physical activity, chronic diseases, menopausal status, vasomotor symptoms, somatic symptoms and urogenital symptoms were associated with depressive symptoms, while place of residence, regular physical activity, chronic diseases, vasomotor, somatic and urogenital symptoms were associated with anxiety symptoms. Conclusion Depressive and anxiety symptoms were common among middle-aged Chinese women, and certain sociodemographic, lifestyle and menopausal symptoms have an important impact on the risk of depressive and anxiety symptoms.

Water-air-bubble mixed flow is a complex flow generated by the intense interaction between marine structures and surrounding fluids. It involves a large span of temporal and spatial scale, and has many influencing factors on its generation and evolution. Combining the flow fields of ship and ocean engineering, water-air-bubble mixed flow affects the performance of structures in many aspects, giving the subject strong research significance. This paper reviews the research progress of the mechanism exploration and numerical simulation methods. In terms of mechanism exploration, the present scientific understanding of the formation and evolution mechanisms and the analysis of the phenomenon characteristics of water-air-bubble mixed flow around marine structures are introduced. In terms of numerical simulation methods, the development route and key technical problems of the algorithms are introduced according to insights from elaboration to modeling. Finally, future research prospects are proposed.

An analytical hierarchy model of the impact of solar reflectance, thermal emittance, heat transfer coefficient, and heat storage coefficient on building energy consumption was established through the implementation of orthogonal design experiments. The EnergyPlus software (v9.0.1) was utilized to simulate building energy consumption across diverse climatic regions in China, providing essential benchmarks for the orthogonal design. The results of the range analysis consistently indicate that, barring regions characterized by extremely cold climates, solar reflectance emerges as the predominant factor exerting an influence on building energy consumption. As geographical latitude increases, the impact of the heat transfer coefficient becomes progressively larger, while the weight of thermal reflectance concurrently diminishes. Drawing upon the principles rooted in the gradient refractive rate theory and the concept of atmospheric window radiation, a range of high-reflectance and high-emittance cool roof coatings in various colors were meticulously developed. A spectrophotometer was employed to precisely quantify their reflectance properties, and simulations were subsequently conducted to scrutinize their energy-saving characteristics. The results demonstrate that the cool roof coatings that were developed using the methodology described in this paper exhibit substantial enhancements in reflectance, with increases of 0.24, 0.25, 0.37, and 0.35 for the yellow, red, blue, and green cool roofing materials, respectively, in comparison to conventional colored coatings. Under typical summer conditions, these enhancements translate to significant reductions in roof temperatures, ranging from 9.4 °C to 14.0 °C. Moreover, the simulations exploring the cooling loads for the roofs of differing colors consistently revealed remarkable energy savings. These savings were quantified to be 4.1%, 3.9%, 5.5%, and 5.4%, respectively, when compared to conventional coatings of the corresponding colors. These findings offer valuable insights into strategies for optimizing the energy efficiency of buildings through the application of high-reflectance cool roofing materials.

Abstract Background This study aims to evaluate the value of p16INK4a immunostaining for high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions in human papillomavirus-negative patients in Beijing, China. Methods In this study, we evaluated the value of p16INK4a immunostaining, as well as cytology and colposcopy, for predicting high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) in human papillomavirus (HPV)-negative patients by comparing the methods with the haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining pathological diagnosis of HPV-negative patients. Results Of 122 patients negative for the high-risk HPV (hrHPV) subtype, 26 (21.3%) underwent colposcopically directed multiple punch cervical biopsies with H&E pathological diagnoses of HSIL and above (HSIL+), 11 patients (9.0%) had cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN)2, nine patients (7.4%) had CIN3 and six patients (4.9%) had infiltrating carcinomas. Cytology, colposcopy and p16INK4a immunostaining had 52.4%, 38.5% and 92.3% sensitivity, respectively, and 76.2%, 94.8% and 99% specificity, respectively. The positive predictive value of the cytology, colposcopy and p16INK4a immunostaining was 31.4%, 66.7% and 96%, respectively, and the negative predictive value was 88.5%, 85.1% and 97.9%, respectively. Compared with H&E staining, the kappa of the cytology, colposcopy and p16INK4a immunostaining was 0.327, 0.323 and 0.926, respectively. Conclusion Positive p16INK4a immunostaining is very strongly consistent with an H&E diagnosis of CIN2+, and it can be used as an objective detection index for HSIL+ diagnoses of HPV-negative patients with CIN2+.

This Phase Ib study combined programmed death-ligand 1 inhibitor, atezolizumab, with other immunomodulatory agents in locally advanced and metastatic solid tumors. Arms B-D evaluated atezolizumab plus interferon-α, with/without vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitor, bevacizumab, in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and other solid tumors. Arm B predominantly recruited patients with previously treated RCC or melanoma to receive atezolizumab plus interferon α-2b. Arm C investigated atezolizumab plus polyethylene glycol (PEG)-interferon α-2a in previously treated RCC. Arm D evaluated atezolizumab plus PEG-interferon α-2a and bevacizumab. Primary objectives were safety and tolerability; secondary objectives included clinical activity. Combination therapy was well tolerated, with safety profiles consistent with known risks of individual agents. The most frequent treatment-related toxicities were fatigue, chills, and pyrexia. The objective response rate (ORR) in arm B was 20.0% overall and 17.8% in patients with previously treated checkpoint inhibitor–naive RCC (n = 45). No responses were reported in arm C. The highest ORR in arm D was 46.7% in patients with treatment-naive RCC (n = 15). Data showed preliminary clinical activity and acceptable tolerability of atezolizumab plus interferon α-2b in patients with previously treated checkpoint inhibitor–naive RCC and of atezolizumab plus PEG-interferon α-2a and bevacizumab in patients with treatment-naive RCC.

As condensate droplets formed at the early stage of frosting are the foundation of frost layer growth, to study the freezing propagation of condensate droplets is of great significance to understand the frosting process. In this paper, the influencing factors of lateral spreading of frost crystals and freezing propagation modes of condensation droplets were discussed by visualization experiments, and the propagation mechanism was revealed combined with theoretical analysis. It is observed that condensate droplets relies on the lateral spreading of frost crystals to realize the freezing propagation and frost crystals diffuse to the center of the cold surface with the help of freezing droplets. The lateral spreading of frost crystals is the key to achieve freezing propagation of condensate droplets, which is accompanied by the evaporation of droplets with small size. The freezing propagation of condensate droplets is affected by the lateral spreading rate of frost crystals and the droplet spacing. Increasing the contact angle of the cold surface reduces the freezing propagation rate and delay frost formation. Interestingly, two freezing propagation modes, “contact-freeze” and “absorption-freeze”, are observed when the frost crystals contact the subcooled droplets. Increasing the surface contact angle or reducing the contact angle hysteresis can increase the frequency of the “absorption-freeze” mode, which helps to reduce the freezing propagation rate of condensate droplets.

Building energy, particularly air conditioning energy, makes for a significant fraction of overall societal energy usage. The heat island effect is a common urban environmental concern that threatens human sustainable development. Roofs, which cover more than 20% of the total metropolitan area, play an essential role in mitigating the urban heat island effect and lowering building energy use. To examine the triple beneficial benefits of cool roofs and green roofs on building energy conservation in different temperature zones in China, a simulation model based on a typical residential community is established. The results reveal that minimizing direct heat acquisition from the roof, reducing heat transfer from the enclosure, and enhancing the coefficient of performance have a surprising triple effect on building energy saving. In cold areas, hot summer and cold winter areas, and hot summer and warm winter areas, cool roofs may lower the regional ambient temperatures by 2°C, 2.3°C, and 2.6°C, respectively, whereas green roofs can reduce the regional ambient temperatures by 1°C, 1.1°C, and 1.2°C. The triple saving impact of cool roofs and green roofs may accomplish 11.0%, 11.5%, 12.6%, and 9.4%, 8.1%, and 9.3%, respectively, for building energy conservation. Because of the increased solar radiation, cool roofs perform better in low-latitude zones, whereas green roofs function consistently.

Nickel-rich cathode materials have attracted widespread interest due to their high capacity; however, the structure is prone to degradation and collapse during cycling, resulting in poor stability performance and safety, hindering the development of high-nickel cathode materials. Here, we propose a straightforward method to consume oxygen on the surface of primary particles during the high-temperature calcination process of precursors, inducing the coupled rearrangement of surface cations, resulting in the in situ generation of a nano-sized mixed spinel/rock salt defect phase, which is confirmed by high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy. LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 modified with mixed phase not only can reduce side reactions with the electrolyte, resulting in fewer by-products such as LiF and Li2CO3, preventing the formation of excessively thick cathode–electrolyte interface layers, but also can avoid irreversible phase transitions and prevents lattice mismatches. As a result, the cycling performance has been improved to some extent, benefiting from structural stability. In addition, the special 3-dimensional structure of the spinel phase allows the material surface to expand ion transport channels and enhance multiplicative performance. Therefore, this study provides a new perspective on the modification of high-nickel materials and extends the application of nickel-rich materials.

The intestinal flora maintained by the immune system plays an important role in healthy colon. However, the role of ILC3s-TD IgA-colonic mucosal flora axis in ulcerative colitis (UC) and whether it could become an innovative pathway for the treatment of UC is unknown. Yujin Powder is a classic prescription for treatment of dampness-heat type intestine disease in traditional Chinese medicine and has therapeutic effects on UC. Hence, the present study aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism of Yujin Powder alcoholic extracts (YJP-A) on UC via ILC3s-TD IgA-colonic mucosal flora axis. The UC mouse model was induced by drinking 3.5% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS), meanwhile, YJP-A was given orally for prevention. During the experiment, the clinical symptoms of mice were recorded. Then the intestinal injury and inflammatory response of mice about UC were detected after the experiment. In addition, the relevant indicators of ILC3s-TD IgA-colonic mucosal flora axis were detected. The results showed that YJP-A had good therapy effects on DSS-induced mice UC: improved the symptoms, increased body weight and the length of colon, decreased the disease activity index score, ameliorated the intestinal injury, and reduced the inflammation etc. Also, YJP-A significantly increased the ILC3s proportion and the expression level of MHC II; significantly decreased the proportion of Tfh cells and B cells and the expression levels of Bcl6, IL-4, Aicda in mesenteric lymph nodes of colon in UC mice and IgA in colon. In addition, by 16S rDNA sequencing, YJP-A could restore TD IgA targets colonic mucus flora in UC mice by decreasing the relative abundance of Mucispirillum, Lachnospiraceae and increasing the relative abundance of Allprevotella, Alistipes, and Ruminococcaceae etc. In conclusion, our results demonstrated that the ILC3s-TD IgA-colonic mucosal flora axis was disordered in UC mice. YJP-A could significantly promote the proliferation of ILC3s to inhibit Tfh responses and B cells class switching through MHC II, further to limit TD IgA responses toward colonic mucosal flora. Our findings suggested that this axis may be a novel and promising strategy to prevent UC.

An oscillating heat pipe (OHP) is an effective heat transfer device for the thermal management of electronic devices. However, the heat transfer mechanism of the OHP was not fully understood due to its complicated operation characteristics. In this paper, the thermal performance of an OHP was experimentally studied. The condensation and evaporation temperature variations were monitored under different heat inputs and were then used to evaluate the OHP system operating characteristics. Thermal resistance was used as a key parameter to evaluate the thermal performance of the OHP system. The results indicated that as the heat input increased from 25 to 100 W, the average thermal resistance decreased while the stable evaporating and condensing temperatures increased. The equivalent heat transfer coefficient was derived theoretically. It showed that the reciprocal of the radial heat transfer coefficient increased with increasing liquid film thickness. Based on this result, an empirical correlation was proposed to evaluate the thermal resistance of an OHP system. This correlation was validated using both the experimental data provided in this study and the data collected from the open literature. The comparison results indicated that the proposed empirical correlation could reasonably predict the thermal resistance under different filling ratios and heat inputs.

In the context of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things (UPIoT), this paper attempts to make full use of distributed new energy, and rationalize the energy management strategy of households. Inspired by the energy management system (EMS) of intelligent buildings, the authors searched for the optimal control plan for energy based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm. Under the overall architecture of the system, a distributed new energy generation system was modelled for consumers in intelligent buildings, including energy storage, household electrical loads, new energy vehicles, etc. Next, a Q-learning-based energy management model was established for intelligent buildings, and the corresponding constraints were set up. After that, the reward and penalty functions of the EMSs for households and the intelligent building were designed based on the daily economic dispatch (DED) model. Finally, the energy management strategy was optimized, creating the real-time optimization control process. The proposed energy management strategy was proved effective for intelligent buildings through simulations. The research results provide a reference for energy management in other microgrids.

A commonly adopted dehumidification system on a suspension bridge is the desiccant wheel dehumidification system (DWDS), which demonstrates ineffectiveness and energy-intensiveness in high temperature and humidity scenarios. This paper proposes a suspension bridge hybrid dehumidification system (HDS) as a better alternative for corrosion protection. A numerical model of HDS was first established. Then, the effects of the main operating parameters on HDS were analyzed, and the dehumidification performance of HDS and DWDS was further compared to illustrate the superiority of HDS to apply on a suspension bridge. In addition, the air supply parameter was discussed, and a low-energy operation strategy of HDS in summer cases was proposed. Finally, limitations and adaptations of heat pump dehumidification system (HPDS) and DWDS on suspension bridges were discussed. The results showed that: (1) HDS realizes the utilization of waste energy from suspension bridges, enhancing the system efficiency. Its specific moisture extraction rate (SMER) reaches 3.16 kg kW−1 h−1 in a high-temperature and -humidity environment (35 °C, 30.82 g kg−1) of the suspension bridge. (2) In the same inlet air conditions, HDS has greater dehumidification capacity than DWDS, and this advantage is enlarged with the increment of inlet air temperature and moisture content. In addition, HDS can strengthen dehumidification ability by decreasing the evaporation temperature and increasing the regeneration temperature to meet peak moisture loads of the suspension bridge. (3) Considering the anti-corrosion effects, energy consumption and drying time, the authors recommend that the moisture content corresponding to the atmospheric temperature and RH of 45% be used for air supply on a suspension bridge. (4) HPDS has poor adaptability to temperatures below 20 °C, while DWDS has poor adaptability to some high temperatures of 24~40 °C and high humidities of 19~30 g kg−1. None of them can meet the air supply requirements of a suspension bridge’s main cable alone.

BackgroundThis study aimed to explore the cluster patterns of cervical cancer screening strategies for detecting high-grade precancerous lesions in terms of benefits, costs, and efficiency.MethodsA total of 2,065 referral women aged 25–64 years were recruited and underwent human papillomavirus (HPV) testing, liquid-based cytology with manual reading, and cytology with artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted reading. All women were assessed by colposcopy and histological examination. We formed 14 screening strategies based on primary cytology screening, primary HPV screening incorporating HPV-16/18 genotyping triage, cytology triage, or both, and co-testing. The primary outcomes were cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 or worse (CIN2+) and grade 3 or worse (CIN3+). The hierarchical clustering method was applied to multifaceted indicators, and then, the resulting clusters were described in terms of benefits, costs, efficiency, and their interaction. This study was registered (No. ChiCTR2000034131).ResultsThe relative sensitivity of HPV-based strategies compared with cytology alone with the threshold of LSIL+ ranged from 0.68 to 1.19 for CIN2+ detection and from 0.72 to 1.11 for CIN3+ detection, whereas the relative specificity ranged from 0.55 to 1.43 for CIN2+ detection and from 0.51 to 1.51 for CIN3+ detection. Five significant clusters according to the trade-off among benefits, costs, and efficiency were identified. The cluster including four primary HPV screening strategies showed the optimal balance. HPV testing with HPV-16/18 genotyping and AI-based cytology triage presented the optimal trade-off for CIN3+ detection relative to cytology alone in terms of relative sensitivity (1.06), relative specificity (0.72), colposcopies for 1 CIN3+ (3.7 vs. 3.1), a load of follow-up for women with HPV-positive and normal cytology (7.0% vs. 22.3%), and the work of manual cytology reading (35.1% vs. 100%).ConclusionsOur study provided clinical and methodological evidence on the choice of HPV-based screening strategies. The cluster including primary HPV screening with genotyping and cytology triage showed an optimal balance among benefit, cost, and efficiency.

We aimed to explore the association between skin-to-skin contact (SSC) duration after caesarean sections (CSs) and breastfeeding outcomes. A prospective study was conducted in four hospitals in China during January and August 2021. A total of 679 participants with singleton pregnancy who delivered by elective CS after 37 gestational weeks using epidural or spinal anesthesia were included. Logistic regression was applied to assess the association between SSC duration and early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF), as well as the promoting factors for exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) at hospital discharge. Immediate SSC after CSs was strongly associated with higher rates of EIBF (p < 0.001) and EBF at hospital discharge (p = 0.002). The EIBF rates increased with longer duration of SSC, with the at least 90 min SSC group having the highest EIBF rate (74.5%). Skin-to-skin contact durations of at least 90 min, 60–89 min and 30–59 min were significantly associated with 8.53 times (OR = 8.53, 95%CI: 4.94–14.72, Padj < 0.001), 8.04 times (95%CI: 4.68–13.80, Padj < 0.001) and 6.28 times (95%CI: 3.75–10.51, Padj < 0.001), respectively, higher EIBF rates compared to those without immediate SSC. After multiple-testing correction, the rates of EBF at hospital discharge were found to be independent of the duration of SSC (Padj = 0.12). Early initiation of breastfeeding was not a significant predictor of EBF. Our results suggested that SSC is important for EIBF in Chinese baby-friendly hospitals. Skin-to-skin contact should be practiced after CS to promote breastfeeding and providing SSC with longer duration is encouraged to obtain the full benefit; if it is not feasible, a minimum of 30 min SSC could achieve improved EIBF and EBF at discharge.

In the field of piezoelectric actuators, high speed piezoelectric stick-slip actuators have received considerable attention. A linear stick-slip piezoelectric actuator is proposed in this article, which combines asymmetric flexure hinge with triangular displacement amplification mechanism. The designed linear piezoelectric stick-slip actuator can achieve high speed at lower frequency. The configuration of the actuator and driving principle are illustrated and designed by theory and simulation. In order to study its performance, a prototype is fabricated, and an experimental system is established. The experimental results confirm that the maximum step efficiency of the prototype is 97.9 %. The maximum speed is 20.17 mm/s under the driving voltage of 100 VP-P, the driving frequency of 610 Hz and the locking force of 2.5 N. The maximum load capacity is 2.4 N under the locking force of 3.5 N. The proposed piezoelectric stick-slip actuator increases the step efficiency and improves the output speed at lower frequency.

Flexure hinges have been widely applied in driving mechanisms to achieve the high velocity of stick-slip piezoelectric actuators. However, the majority of driving mechanisms are designed with existing flexure hinge forms, and it is difficult for the actuators to realize the optimal velocity performance. Therefore, a systematic method based on the topology optimization to design flexure hinges of driving mechanisms is proposed in this paper for improving the velocity of the actuators. According to the working principle, the velocity can be increased by maximizing displacement of a driving foot along the positive direction of x-axis. The optimization problem of flexure hinges is described utilizing the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) method. To illustrate the proposed method in detail, a four-bar mechanism with optimized flexure hinges is designed. Among them, three optimization schemes are implemented based on positions of flexure hinge design domains, and then deformations and equivalent stresses of the four-bar mechanism are investigated by simulation to find optimal flexure hinge forms. To prove the feasibility of the proposed method, the characteristic experiments of prototype are conducted. When the driving voltage and driving frequency of prototype are 100 Vp-p and 470 Hz, the maximum velocity is 17.50 mm/s, the maximum load is 220 g. And it is interesting to find that the prototype has no backward motion. Compared with the previously reported actuators with four-bar mechanisms, the velocity of prototype is significantly improved.

Context Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (Apiaceae) (syn. Angelica polymorpha Maxim var. sinensis Oliver) processed with yellow rice wine (WAS) has a blood-supplementing effect. Objective To establish an optimal technology for preparing water decoction of WAS (WASD), and screen blood-supplementing fractions. Materials and methods Ferulic acid and crude polysaccharide were used in optimizing the preparation technology for WASD through response surface methodology. The independent variables were liquid–solid ratio, soaking time, and extraction time. Eighty Kunming mice were randomly divided into normal control, model, and six intervention groups (n = 10). The intervention groups were given different WASD fractions by gavage (5 or 10 g/kg). The model intervention groups received acetylphenyl hydrazine (subcutaneous injection) and cyclophosphamide (intraperitoneal injection). Duration of study, 9 days. The components of blood-supplementing fractions were analyzed. Results The optimum extraction parameters were liquid–solid ratio, 7.69:1 mL/g; soaking time, 119.78 min; and extraction time, 143.35 min. The optimal OD value was 0.8437. Melamine formaldehyde was used as the shell material and n-eicosane as the core material with the method of in situ polymerization to synthesize microencapsulated phase change materials (MPCMs). To enhance the thermophysical characteristics and photothermal conversion performance of the MPCM slurry, multi-wall carbon nanotubes were added, and the microscopic morphology and thermophysical parameters of the MWCNT-MPCM slurry were analyzed. The thermal conductivity, viscosity, and photothermal conversion properties of the slurry were examined. The results indicated that the synthesized MPCMs were nucleated and unbroken, with a spherical form and a latent heat of phase transition of up to 135.92 kJ/kg. The MPCM was stable when dispersed in water, and its thermal conductivity rose with the temperature but slightly decreased during the phase transition period. The viscosity rose with the addition of the MPCM, with a jump at 20% MPCM content. The addition of MWCNTs had a minor effect on the material’s thermophysical properties. The thermal conductivity increased from 0.55 W/m·°C to 0.6 W/m·°C when MWCNTs were added to the material. The viscosity of a 20% MPCM slurry exceeded 3000 mPa·s when 0.5% MWCNTs were introduced. Under 1 sun of sunlight, the mixture’s peak temperature could reach 60 °C at 0.5% MWCNT concentration. The MWCNT-MPCM slurry is capable of producing efficient solar photothermal conversion without sacrificing other thermophysical properties, and it has several applications in solar energy consumption and thermal engineering.

The Internet has become the main channel of information communication, which contains a large amount of secret information. Although network communication provides a convenient channel for human communication, there is also a risk of information leakage. Traditional image steganography algorithms use manually crafted steganographic algorithms or custom models for steganography, while our approach uses ordinary OCR models for information embedding and extraction. Even if our OCR models for steganography are intercepted, it is difficult to find their relevance to steganography. We propose a novel steganography method for character-level text images based on adversarial attacks. We exploit the complexity and uniqueness of neural network boundaries and use neural networks as a tool for information embedding and extraction. We use an adversarial attack to embed the steganographic information into the character region of the image. To avoid detection by other OCR models, we optimize the generation of the adversarial samples and use a verification model to filter the generated steganographic images, which, in turn, ensures that the embedded information can only be recognized by our local model. The decoupling experiments show that the strategies we adopt to weaken the transferability can reduce the possibility of other OCR models recognizing the embedded information while ensuring the success rate of information embedding. Meanwhile, the perturbations we add to embed the information are acceptable. Finally, we explored the impact of different parameters on the algorithm with the potential of our steganography algorithm through parameter selection experiments. We also verify the effectiveness of our validation model to select the best steganographic images. The experiments show that our algorithm can achieve a 100% information embedding rate and more than 95% steganography success rate under the set condition of 3 samples per group. In addition, our embedded information can be hardly detected by other OCR models.

Data trust is an emerging concept in trust typology studies and contemporary legislation on trusts. Trust systems originated in the UK and were developed in the US. Background. The prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has been dramatically increasing worldwide. The aims of this study were to examine associations of GDM with pregnancy outcomes in Chinese urban women and to evaluate the interaction between GDM and other major risk factors for the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Methods. A retrospective analysis included 8844 women who delivered live singletons at ≥28 weeks of gestation between June 2012 and March 2013 among Chinese urban women. Structured questionnaires were used to collect information on demographic characteristics, lifestyle behavior, medical history, and pregnancy outcomes. The diagnosis of GDM was made between 24 and 28 gestational weeks according to the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria. Logistic regression models were used to assess the association of GDM with pregnancy outcomes and to examine the interaction between GDM and other major risk factors including maternal age, prepregnancy body mass index, and gestational weight gain for the risk of pregnancy outcomes. Results. 13.9% of women were diagnosed with GDM. We found that GDM was associated with higher risk of cesarean delivery (odds ratio OR=1.69, 95% CI (confidence interval): 1.48-1.92), preterm birth (OR=1.32, 95% CI: 1.07-1.64), macrosomia (OR=1.69, 95% CI: 1.34-2.13), and large for gestational age (LGA, OR=1.43, 95% CI: 1.18-1.73) after adjustment for potential confounders. We also observed the interaction between GDM and maternal age for the risk of cesarean delivery (P for interaction=0.025), and the OR of GDM for cesarean delivery was 1.71 (95% CI: 1.49-1.97) among women aged less than 35 years. Conclusions. GDM was associated with an increased risk of cesarean delivery, preterm birth, macrosomia, and LGA in Chinese urban women, and there was an interaction between GDM and maternal age for the risk of cesarean delivery.

The stick-slip piezoelectric stage plays an important role in micro-operation and industrial applications due to its nanometer resolution. However, under high load, the output performance of the piezoelectric stage will be seriously influenced. In order to overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a piezoelectric stick-slip nanopositioning stage with ultra-high load capacity by introducing the load unit to decouple the driving and moving units. A kinetic model of prototype is established to analyze the working process. And a series of experiments are carried out to explore the output performance of the prototype. The geometry of the prototype is 85 mm (Length)×50 mm (Width)×32 mm (Height), and the mass of it is 303 g. By using only one piezoelectric stack, this prototype can achieve load capacity more than 10 kg and driving capacity more than 47.62 [(mm/s)g/mW] in both directions. When there is free-load, under the sawtooth waveform of 100 V at 600 Hz, the velocity of the prototype can reach 4.75 mm/s and 4.86 mm/s in forward and backward directions respectively. Meanwhile, the forward and backward resolution of the prototype can attain 30 nm and 33 nm, respectively. When the load is 10 kg which is about 33 times larger than the weight of prototype, the velocity of the prototype is almost the same as the velocity under free-load.

In the existing network covert channel research, the transmission of secret messages is one-way, lacking confirmation feedback on whether the secret message is successfully accepted. However, voice over LTE (VoLTE) has real-time interactive features, and the data packets between the sender and the receiver are transmitted in both directions, which facilitates the construction of a two-way covert channel with feedback. Therefore, we propose a two-way VoLTE covert channel adaptive to mobile network environment, which includes a sender-to-receiver covert timing channel that modulates covert message through actively dropping packets during the silence periods and a reverse covert storage channel that hides the acceptance of the covert message as feedback information into the feedback control information field of the real-time transport control protocol (RTCP) packet. The sender evaluates the current attack severity according to the feedback and adjusts the real-time parameters of the covert timing channel to weigh the robustness and other performance, thereby constructing a two-way covert channel adaptive to complex mobile network environments. Experimental results show that this solution can maintain voice quality which is an important performance indicator for VoLTE, while keeping the covert channel undetectable and robust.

Internet of things (IoT) is revolutionizing this world with its evolving applications in various aspects of life such as sensing, healthcare, remote monitoring, and so on. Android devices and applications are working hand to hand to realize dreams of the IoT. Recently, there is a rapid increase in threats and malware attacks on Android-based devices. Moreover, due to extensive exploitation of the Android platform in the IoT devices creates a task challenging of securing such kind of malware activities. This paper presents a novel framework that combines the advantages of both machine learning techniques and blockchain technology to improve the malware detection for Android IoT devices. The proposed technique is implemented using a sequential approach, which includes clustering, classification, and blockchain. Machine learning automatically extracts the malware information using clustering and classification technique and store the information into the blockchain. Thereby, all malware information stored in the blockchain history can be communicated through the network, and therefore any latest malware can be detected effectively. The implementation of the clustering technique includes calculation of weights for each feature set, the development of parametric study for optimization and simultaneously iterative reduction of unnecessary features having small weights. The classification algorithm is implemented to extract the various features of Android malware using naive Bayes classifier. Moreover, the naive Bayes classifier is based on decision trees for extracting more important features to provide classification and regression for achieving high accuracy and robustness. Finally, our proposed framework uses the permissioned blockchain to store authentic information of extracted features in a distributed malware database blocks to increase the run-time detection of malware with more speed and accuracy, and further to announce malware information for all users.

Liquid air energy storage (LAES) is one of the most promising large-scale energy storage technologies for the decarburization of networks. When electricity is needed, the liquid air is utilized to generate electricity through expansion, while the cold energy from liquid air evaporation is stored and recovered in the air liquefaction process. The packed bed filled with rocks/pebbles for cold storage is more suitable for real-world application in the near future compared to the fluids for cold storage. A standalone LAES system with packed bed energy storage is proposed in our previous work. However, the utilization of pressurized air for heat transfer fluid in the cold storage packed bed (CSPB) is confusing, and the effect of the CSPB on the system level should be further discussed. To address these issues, the dynamic performance of the CSPB is analyzed with the physical properties of the selected cold storage materials characterized. The system simulation is conducted in an experiment scale with and without considering the exergy loss of the CSPB for comparison. The simulation results show that the proposed LAES system has an ideal round trip efficiency (RTE) of 39.38–52.91%. With the consideration of exergy destruction of the CSPB, the RTE decreases by 19.91%. Furthermore, increasing the cold storage pressure reasonably is beneficial to the exergy efficiency of the CSPB, whether it is non-supercritical (0.1 MPa–3 MPa) or supercritical (4 MPa–9 MPa) air. These findings will give guidance and prediction to the experiments of the LAES and finally promote the development of the industrial application.

The minimum weight ω( f) = Σv∈V(G) f (v) of any OITRDF f for G is the outer-independent total Roman domination number of G, denoted by γoitR(G). A graph G is called an outer-independent total Roman graph (OIT-Roman graph) if γoitR(G) = 2γoit(G). In this paper, we propose dynamic programming algorithms to compute the outer-independent total domination number and the outer-independent total Roman domination number of a tree, respectively. Moreover, we characterize all OIT-Roman graphs and give a linear time algorithm for recognizing an OIT-Roman graph.

Electricity is the commonest commodity for most businesses in our world today. The use of electricity has been a breakthrough for the discovery of new technologies and has become the main driving force behind several innovations. With the introduction of smart grid systems, there have been improvements in how utility companies interact with their customers with regards to electricity use. However, since the readings are done via the Internet, there is the tendency for the data to be compromised when it gets into the hands of the wrong people. Moreover, customers mostly do not know why they pay huge amounts and which appliances use more electricity, since they are not privy to the readings. The sovereign blockchain technology, which provides transparency and provenance, is utilized in this paper to mitigate these above mentioned problems. A smart contract, which executes laid down procedures to provide a trust-based system between participants on the network is also implemented. Our system proves very efficient as the user can monitor how the electricity is used, and it also provides a platform where there is no manipulation from either party.

Covert channels represent unforeseen communication methods that exploit authorized overt communication as the carrier medium for covert messages. Covert channels can be a secure and effective means of transmitting confidential information hidden in overt traffic. For covert timing channel, the covert message is usually modulated into inter-packet delays (IPDs) of legitimate traffic, which is not suitable for voice over LTE (VoLTE) since the IPDs of VoLTE traffic are fixed to lose the possibility of being modulated. For this reason, we propose a covert channel via adjusting silence periods, which modulates covert message by the postponing or extending silence periods in VoLTE traffic. To keep the robustness, we employ the Gray code to encode the covert message to reduce the impact of packet loss. Moreover, the proposed covert channel enables the tradeoff between the robustness and voice quality which is an important performance indicator for VoLTE. The experiment results show that the proposed covert channel is undetectable by statistical tests and outperforms the other covert channels based on IPDs in terms of robustness.

As the use of smart mobile devices increases, users can connect and coordinate with local people or events that match their interests through geosocial networking applications. Such applications require techniques that support multiple-user location-based keyword (MULK) query processing, which takes a set of geo-locations and a set of keywords as arguments and returns a list of relevant POIs that match the arguments. In geosocial networking, processing this query involves two issues: mining users' individual preferences and indexing road networks. In this paper, we investigate how to mine users' individual preferences by enhancing MULK query processing with interactions, resulting in interactive multiple-user location-based keyword query. Furthermore, we propose a hierarchical road network index structure to support efficient query processing. Finally, we conduct a set of experiments that demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our solutions under various parameter settings.

Evidence shows that intestinal inflammation, oxidative stress, and injury of mucosal barrier are closely related to the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC). Huang-lian-Jie-du Decoction (HLJDD) is a well-known prescription of traditional Chinese medicine with anti-inflammatory and antioxidative activities, which may be used to treat UC. However, its therapeutic effect and mechanism are still unclear. In this study, the UC model of BABL/c mice were established by DSS [3.5% (w/v)], and HLJDD was given orally for treatment at the same time. During the experiment, the clinical symptoms of mice were scored by disease activity index (DAI). Besides, the effects of HLJDD on immune function, oxidative stress, colon NF-κB and Nrf2 signaling pathway, and intestinal mucosal barrier function in UC mice were also investigated. The results showed that HLJDD could alleviate body weight loss and DAI score of UC mice, inhibit colonic shortening and relieve colonic pathological damage, and reduce plasma and colon MPO levels. In addition, HLJDD treatment significantly up-regulated plasma IL-10, down-regulated TNF-α and IL-1β levels, and inhibited the expression of NF-κB p65, p-IκKα/β, and p-IκBα proteins in the colon. Moreover, NO and MDA levels in colon tissues were significantly reduced after HLJDD treatment, while GSH, SOD levels and Nrf2, Keap1 protein expression levels were remarkably elevated. Additionally, HLJDD also protected intestinal mucosa by increasing the secretion of mucin and the expression of ZO-1 and occludin in colonic mucosa. These results indicate that HLJDD could effectively alleviate DSS-induced mice UC by suppressing NF-κB signaling pathway, activating Nrf2 signaling pathway, and enhancing intestinal barrier function.

Mechanical motion sensing and monitoring is an important component in the field of industrial automation. Rotary motion is one of the most basic forms of mechanical motion, so it is of great significance for the development of the entire industry to realize rotary motion state monitoring. In this paper, a triboelectric rotary motion sensor (TRMS) with variable amplitude differential hybrid electrodes is proposed, and an integrated monitoring system (IMS) is designed to realize real-time monitoring of industrial-grade rotary motion state. First, the operating principle and monitoring characteristics are studied. The experiment results indicate that the TRMS can achieve rotation speed measurement in the range of 10–1000 rpm with good linearity, and the error rate of rotation speed is less than 0.8%. Besides, the TRMS has an angle monitoring range of 360° and its resolution is 1.5° in bidirectional rotation. Finally, the applications of the designed TRMS and IMS prove the feasibility of self-powered rotary motion monitoring. This work further promotes the development of triboelectric sensors (TESs) in industrial application.

The insider threats have always been one of the most severe challenges to cybersecurity. It can lead to the destruction of the organisation’s internal network system and information leakage, which seriously threaten the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data. To make matters worse, since the attacker has authorized access to the internal network, they can launch the attack from the inside and erase their attack trace, which makes it challenging to track and forensics. A blockchain traceability system for insider threats is proposed in this paper to mitigate the issue. First, this paper constructs an insider threat model of the internal network from a different perspective: insider attack forensics and prevent insider attacker from escaping. Then, we analyze why it is difficult to track attackers and obtain evidence when an insider threat has occurred. After that, the blockchain traceability system is designed in terms of data structure, transaction structure, block structure, consensus algorithm, data storage algorithm, and query algorithm, while using differential privacy to protect user privacy. We deployed this blockchain traceability system and conducted experiments, and the results show that it can achieve the goal of mitigating insider threats.

In view of the increasing number of people in the digital interaction process of direct or indirect disclosure of privacy issues,the establishment of a set of data security sharing system based on blockchain network,the access control algorithm based on ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption and the homomorphic encryption algorithm provides reliable chain data sharing were mainly researched.Data sharing on chain architecture for data sharing on the chain was proposed.Finally,simulation experiments were carried out,and the results of experimental data were analyzed.The work effectively solves the problem of malicious parties using the transaction transparency of blockchain for data analysis and ensures the privacy security of user data in the sharing process.

Due to the openness of an Android system, many Internet of Things (IoT) devices are running the Android system and Android devices have become a common control terminal for IoT devices because of various sensors on them. With the popularity of IoT devices, malware on Android-based IoT devices is also increasing. People’s lives and privacy security are threatened. To reduce such threat, many researchers have proposed new methods to detect Android malware. Currently, most malware detection products on the market are based on malware signatures, which have a fast detection speed and normally a low false alarm rate for known malware families. However, they cannot detect unknown malware and are easily evaded by malware that is confused or packaged. Many new solutions use syntactic features and machine learning techniques to classify Android malware. It has been known that analysis of the Function Call Graph (FCG) can capture behavioral features of malware well. This paper presents a new approach to classifying Android malware based on deep learning and OpCode-level FCG. The FCG is obtained through static analysis of Operation Code (OpCode), and the deep learning model we used is the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). We conducted experiments on a dataset with 1796 Android malware samples classified into two categories (obtained from Virusshare and AndroZoo) and 1000 benign Android apps. Our experimental results showed that our proposed approach with an accuracy of 97 % outperforms the state-of-the-art methods such as those proposed by Nikola et al. and Hou et al. (IJCAI-18) with the accuracy of 97 % and 91 % , respectively. The time consumption of our proposed approach is less than the other two methods.

Brain imaging studies have revealed that functional and structural brain connectivity in the so-called triple network (i.e., default mode network (DMN), salience network (SN) and central executive network (CEN)) are consistently altered in schizophrenia. However, similar changes have also been found in patients with major depressive disorder, prompting the question of specific triple network signatures for the two disorders. In this study, we proposed Supervised Convex Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (SCNMF) to extract distributed multi-modal brain patterns. These patterns distinguish schizophrenia and major depressive disorder in a latent low-dimensional space of the triple brain network. Specifically, 21 patients of schizophrenia and 25 patients of major depressive disorder were assessed by T1-weighted, diffusion-weighted, and resting-state functional MRIs. Individual structural and functional connectivity networks, based on pre-defined regions of the triple network were constructed, respectively. Afterwards, SCNMF was employed to extract the discriminative patterns. Experiments indicate that SCNMF allows extracting the low-rank discriminative patterns between the two disorders, achieving a classification accuracy of 82.6% based on the extracted functional and structural abnormalities with support vector machine. Experimental results show the specific brain patterns for schizophrenia and major depressive disorder that are multi-modal, complex, and distributed in the triple network. Parts of the prefrontal cortex including superior frontal gyri showed variation between patients with schizophrenia and major depression due to structural properties. In terms of functional properties, the middle cingulate cortex, inferior parietal lobule, and cingulate cortex were the most discriminative regions. Voice over Long-Term Evolution enables reliable transmission among enormous Internet of Things devices, by providing end-to-end quality of service for Internet protocol–based services such as audio, video, and multimedia messaging. The research of covert timing channels aims at transmitting covert message stealthily to the receiver using variations of timing behavior. Existing approaches mainly modulate the covert message into inter-packet delays of overt traffic, which are not suitable for Voice over Long-Term Evolution, since most of the inter-packet delays of Voice over Long-Term Evolution traffic are of regular distribution, and any modification on inter-packet delays is easy to be detected. To address the issue, in this work, we propose a novel covert timing channel for the video stream in Voice over Long-Term Evolution, which modulates the covert message by deliberately dropping out video packets. Based on the two-dimensional mapping matrix, the blocks of covert message are mapped into dropout-packet sequence numbers. To recover the covert message, the receiver retrieves the sequence numbers of lost packets and identifies them to be translated into blocks of the covert message. To evaluate our scheme, the simulations with different packet loss rates are conducted to validate the undetectability, throughput, and robustness, finally, the results show that this scheme is effective and reliable.

Application of solar collectors for hot water supply, space heating, and cooling plays a significant role in reducing building energy consumption. For conventional solar collectors, solar radiation is absorbed by spectral selective coating on the collectors’ tube/plate wall. The poor durability of the coating can lead to an increased manufacturing cost and unreliability for a solar collector operated at a higher temperature. Therefore, a novel nanofluid-based direct absorption solar collector (NDASC) employing uncoated collector tubes has been proposed, and its operating characteristics for medium-temperature solar collection were theoretically and experimentally studied in this paper. CuO/oil nanofluid was prepared and used as working fluid of the NDASC. The heat-transfer mechanism of the NDASC with parabolic trough concentrator was theoretically evaluated and compared with a conventional indirect absorption solar collector (IASC). The theoretical analysis results suggested that the fluid’s temperature distribution in the NDASC was much more uniform than that in the IASC, and an enhanced collection efficiency could be achieved for the NDASC operated within a preferred working temperature range. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed NDASC, experimental performances of an NDASC and an IASC with the same parabolic trough concentrator were furthermore evaluated and comparatively discussed.
