Quantifying surface deformation due to earthquake-related surface rupturing is a critical research focus. Localized offsets on the primary fault can be obtained via field measurements of dislocated landforms. However, effectively quantifying distributed deformation, which can extend for tens to hundreds of meters around the fault zone, has only become possible with the development of remote sensing technology and optical pixel correlation techniques. In this study, we correlated pre- and post-earthquake GaoFen (GF)-2 and -7 images that were ortho-rectified by a digital elevation model generated from GF-7 stereo images to obtain surface horizontal deformation of the 2022 Mw 6.6 Menyuan earthquake. The surface rupture had a total length of 28 km along two segments separated by a stepover; in this study, we focused on the northern segment (23.5 km), which was distributed along the Lenglongling fault (LLLF). The total surface offset measured by our study had the maximum value of 4.0 m and a mean value of 1.9 m. The mean offset measured by field observations captured just 50% of the mean offset from optical pixel correlation. Overall, 57% of off-fault deformation (OFD) occurred on the LLLF, which is a mature fault, owing to soft near-surface materials. Comparison of the surface offset measured by pixel correlation data in our study and near ground slip from joint inversion of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar and pixel correlation data suggests that OFD played a significant role in accommodating the shallow slip. The results of this study offer new insight into the characteristics of surface deformation.

This paper presents a new Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) approach by aligning the phases of a group of spatially distributed Radio Frequency (RF) transmitters (TX) at the target receiver (RX) device. Our approach can transfer energy over tens of meters and even to targets blocked by obstacles. Compared to popular beamforming based WPTs, our approach leads to a drastically different energy density distribution: the energy density at the target receiver is much higher than the energy density at other locations. Due to this unique energy distribution pattern, our approach offers a safer WPT solution, which can be potentially scaled up to ship a higher level of energy over longer distances. Specifically, we model the energy density distribution and prove that our proposed system can create a high energy peak exactly at the target receiver. Then we conduct detailed simulation studies to investigate how the actual energy distribution is impacted by various important system parameters, including number/topology of transmitters, transmitter antenna directionality, the distance between receiver and transmitters, and environmental multipath. Finally, we build an actual prototype with 17 N210 and 4 B210 Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) nodes, through which we validate the salient features and performance promises of the proposed system.

This paper describes our system participated in Task 7 of SemEval-2021: Detecting and Rating Humor and Offense. The task is designed to detect and score humor and offense which are influenced by subjective factors. In order to obtain semantic information from a large amount of unlabeled data, we applied unsupervised pre-trained language models. By conducting research and experiments, we found that the ERNIE 2.0 and DeBERTa pre-trained models achieved impressive performance in various subtasks. Therefore, we applied the above pre-trained models to fine-tune the downstream neural network. In the process of fine-tuning the model, we adopted multi-task training strategy and ensemble learning method. Based on the above strategy and method, we achieved RMSE of 0.4959 for subtask 1b, and finally won the first place.

Collision detection is critical for safe robot operation in the presence of humans. Acoustic information originating from collisions between robots and objects provides opportunities for fast collision detection and localization; however, audio information from microphones on robot manipulators needs to be robustly differentiated from motors and external noise sources. In this paper, we present Panotti, the first system to efficiently detect and localize on-robot collisions using low-cost microphones. We present a novel algorithm that can localize the source of a collision with centimeter level accuracy and is also able to reject false detections using a robust spectral filtering scheme. Our method is scalable, easy to deploy, and enables safe and efficient control for robot manipulator applications. We implement and demonstrate a prototype that consists of 8 miniature microphones on a 7 degree of freedom (DOF) manipulator to validate our design. Extensive experiments show that Panotti realizes near perfect on-robot true positive collision detection rate with almost zero false detections even in high noise environments. In terms of accuracy, it achieves an average localization error of less than 3.8 cm under various experimental settings.

To the best of our knowledge, we present the first underground fiber cable position detection methods using distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS) technology. Meter level localization accuracy is achieved in the results.

Background Puffer fish poisoning is one of the main causes of death from food poisoning in China. Currently, there is still no effective treatment method. The establishment of artificial airway and early implementation of mechanical ventilation are crucial to the prognosis of patients, but the optimal time is still not clear. Case Presentation A 62-year-old male patient complained of ‘numbness around the mouth for 3 hours after eating puffer fish’ was admitted to the emergency department, he was performed gastric lavage in time, but did not be performed protective endotracheal intubation.His condition worsen rapidly and respiratory and cardiac arrest was quickly occurred.He received aggressive treatment in the ICU, but still did not regain spontaneous breathing. Conclusion The establishment of artificial airway and early implementation of mechanical ventilation are crucial for the prognosis of patients,and we provide possible principles for performing endotracheal intubation.
