This study addresses the limitations of traditional methods used to analyze factors influencing submarine cable burial depth and emphasizes the underutilization of cable construction data. To overcome these limitations, a machine learning-based model is proposed. The model utilizes cable construction data from the East China Sea to predict the weight of factors influencing cable burial depth. Pearson correlation analysis and principal component analysis are initially employed to eliminate feature correlations. The random forest method is then used to determine the weights of factors, followed by the construction of an optimized backpropagation (BP) neural network using the ISOA-BP hybrid optimization algorithm. The model’s performance is compared with other machine learning algorithms, including support vector regression, decision tree, gradient decision tree, and the BP network before optimization. The results show that the random forest method effectively quantifies the impact of each factor, with water depth, cable length, deviation, geographic coordinates, and cable laying tension as the significant factors. The constructed ISOA-BP model achieves higher prediction accuracy than traditional algorithms, demonstrating its potential for quality control in cable laying construction and data-driven prediction of cable burial depth. This research provides valuable theoretical and practical implications in the field.

Abstract Background The optimal tibial component rotational alignment in unicompartmental knee arthroplasty has not been defined. This study aimed to explore the effect of tibial component rotational alignment on the clinical outcomes of UKA. Methods Clinical and follow-up data from 269 patients were retrospectively analysed. They were assigned into Groups A (− 5° to 0°), B (0°–3°), C (3°–6°) and D (> 6°) according to the external rotation of the tibial component to Akagi’s line. The Knee Society Score clinical (KSS-c), Knee Society Score function (KSS-f), Forgotten Joint Score (FJS) and postoperative complications at 2 years postsurgically were analysed. Results The mean rotation of the tibial component relative to Akagi’s line in 269 patients was 4.56 ± 3.79°. There were 15, 84, 89 and 81 patients in Groups A, B, C and D, respectively. The postoperative KSS-c and KSS-f in Groups B and C were significantly higher than those in Group D. No significant differences in KSS-c and KSS-f were detected between Groups B and C. The postoperative FJS in Group B was significantly higher than that in Group C, which was significantly higher in Group C than in Group D. There were 5, 8 and 15 cases of postoperative knee pain in Groups B, C and D, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Tibial component rotational alignment is of significance to Oxford Phase III UKA in patients. External rotation of the tibial component by 0°–3° is optimal to achieve satisfactory clinical outcomes.

Decision-making problems are often characterized by complexity and uncertainty, presenting significant challenges for individuals or organizations. Aczel Alsina t-norm (TN) and t-conorm (TCN) are more flexible than other TN and TCN due to their variable parameters. They have been applied to various types of fuzzy multi-attribute decision making (MADM). The complex Fermatean fuzzy set (CFFS) model is an extension of the complex fuzzy set and Fermatean fuzzy set, and it can more accurately express the evaluation values of attributes in complex MADM problems. The purpose of this paper is to propose a MADM method based on Aczel-Alsina TN and TCN under complex Fermatean fuzzy environment. First, the Aczel-Alsina sum and product operations of the complex Fermatean fuzzy number(CFFN) are introduced, and some desirable properties of the two operations are studied. Subsequently, several complex Fermatean fuzzy aggregation operators are established, such as the complex Fermatean fuzzy Aczel-Alsina weighted averaging CFFAAWA) operator, complex Fermatean fuzzy Aczel-Alsina ordered weighted averaging (CFFAAOWA) operator, complex Fermatean fuzzy Aczel-Alsina weighted geometric (CFFAAWG) operator, and complex Fermatean fuzzy Aczel-Alsina ordered weighted geometric (CFFAAOWG) operator. In addition, certain significant properties of the aggregation operators are investigated. Finally, a method based on new aggregation operators is proposed, and a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method.

Abstract Distance and similarity measures are very important in clustering, pattern recognition, decision-making and other scientific fields. For the existing hesitant fuzzy distance, most of them do not consider the hesitance degree. Even if the hesitance degree is considered, only the degree of dispersion or the number of hesitant fuzzy values are considered. Aiming at these shortages, a new hesitance degree is defined, which has better accuracy and applicability. Then, some hesitant fuzzy distance measures based on the proposed hesitance degree are proposed, which can overcome some shortcomings of the existing distance measures. Finally, the new hesitant fuzzy distance is applied to the hierarchical hesitant fuzzy k-means clustering algorithm, and an illustration example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.), a common woody afforestation species, may threaten native biodiversity and ecosystems. Its invasive nature has not been examined in Asia, and links between aboveground and underground ecosystems have been inadequately established. Here, to figure out its effect on native ecosystems along the afforestation chronosequence, we selected three age class mixed forests of Robinia pseudoacacia/Platycladus orientalis stands (M7, M13, and M23) and a pure native forest of Platycladus orientalis stands (P0) as the control group on the Loess Plateau in China. The results exhibited that Black locust significantly increased the shrub diversity by 23.24%, herb richness by 10.79%, total carbon by 6.14%, organic carbon by 16.05%, and total nitrogen by 36.24% in 13 years of introduction. While the decrease in the diversity and richness of shrubs and herbs, soil pH, and total phosphorus emerged after the introduction of 13 years. Despite the increasing richness and diversity of soil bacteria, total phosphorus was inferred to be a limiting factor for microbes after 23 years. The partial least squares path models showed strong correlations and remarkable aboveground–underground associations. Moreover, vegetation, the main driving force, had the most decisive influence on soil properties and microbial communities. Taken together, these results will contribute to assessments and management of black locust plantations and provide insights into the biological invasion and aboveground–underground theories.

This analysis investigated the impact wave response and propagation on a composite sandwich shell when subjected to a low-velocity external shock, considering hygrothermal effects. The sandwich shell was crafted using face layers composed of functional gradient metal–ceramic matrix material and a core layer reinforced with negative Poisson’s honeycomb. The honeycomb layer consisted of a combination of viscoelastic polymer material and elastic material. The equivalent parameters for the functional gradient material in the face layers were determined using the Mori–Tanaka and Voigt models, and the parameters for the negative Poisson’s ratio honeycomb reinforcement core layer were obtained through Gibson’s unit cell model. Parameters relevant to a low-velocity impact were derived using a modified Hertz contact law. The internal deformations, strains, and stress of the composite sandwich shell were described based on the higher-order shear deformation theory. The dynamic equilibrium equations were established using Hamilton’s principle, and the Galerkin method along with the Newmark direct integration scheme was employed to calculate the shell’s response to impact. The validity of the analysis was confirmed through a comparison with published literature. This investigation showed that a multilayer negative Poisson’s ratio viscoelastic polymer material honeycomb-cored structure can dissipate impact wave energy swiftly and suppress shock effectively.

Taking a DCT transmission preliminary gear 3 to 2 as an example，through the analysis of rattle theory and influence factors，the precise comparison verification result between simulation and test of rattle sensitivity are obtained. The quantitative evaluation target of rattle sensitivity is formulated，and different flywheels are matched for real vehicle verification. This research has theoretical significance and practical value for guiding low-noise design and matching engine platform of transmission.

The present paper aims to investigate the buckling load of functionally graded carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (FG-CFRP) composite laminated plates under in-plane loads in a thermal environment. The effective material properties of the CFRP composite are calculated by the Mori–Tanaka homogenization method. The theoretical formulations are based on classical laminate plate theory (CLPT) and the von Kármán equations for large deflections. The governing equations are derived based on the principle of virtual work and then solved through the Navier solution. Results are obtained for the critical buckling load and temperature effect of a simply supported plate subjected to in-plane loading. A detailed numerical study is conducted to provide important insights into the effects of the functionally graded carbon fiber (CF) distribution pattern and volume fraction, total number of layers, temperature, geometrical dimension and lamination angle on the buckling load of functionally carbon-fiber-reinforced composite plates. Finally, the validation is compared with the Reddy and finite element analyses, which show consistency with each other.

Cubic set and complex fuzzy set are two useful tools which have been used successfully to deal with vagueness and uncertainties. In this paper, A new hybrid model is first proposed by combining cubic set and complex fuzzy set, which is called complex cubic fuzzy set (CCFS). Then, some algebraic operations of CCFS are defined and some of their desirable properties are studied in detail. Furthermore, some aggregation operators including complex cubic fuzzy weighted averaging operator (CCFWA), complex cubic fuzzy ordered weighted averaging operator (CCFOWA), complex cubic fuzzy weighted geometric operator (CCFWG) and complex cubic fuzzy ordered weighted geometric operator (CCFOWG) are developed. And some properties of the proposed aggregation operators are also investigated. Finally, a multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) method is introduced based on the proposed operators under the complex cubic fuzzy environment, and an illustration example is given to demonstrate the practicability and effectiveness of the proposed decision-making method.

Background: FERM domain-containing protein 4A (FRMD4A) is a scaffolding protein previously proposed to be critical in the regulation of cell polarity in neurons and implicated in human intellectual development.Case Presentation: We report a case of a 3-year-old boy with corpus callosum anomaly, relative macrocephaly, ataxia, and unexplained global developmental delay. Here, compound heterozygous missense mutations in the FRMD4A gene [c.1830G>A, p.(Met610Ile) and c.2973G>C, p.(Gln991His)] were identified in the proband, and subsequent familial segregation showed that each parent had transmitted a mutation.Conclusions: Our results have confirmed the associations of mutations in the FRMD4A gene with intellectual development and indicated that for patients with unexplained global developmental delay, the FRMD4A gene should be included in the analysis of whole exome sequencing data, which can contribute to the identification of more patients affected by this severe phenotypic spectrum.

In this study, the buckling loads of a composite sandwich structure, which is reinforced by a honeycomb layer and filled with viscoelastic damping material, are analyzed. By applying von Karman anisotropic plate equations for large deflection, the governing equation of the composite sandwich structure is determined, and the deflection of the structure is further defined by a double triangular series. According to the dynamic equivalent effective stiffness obtained by the homogenous asymptotic method and Hill’s generalized self-consistent model based on the Halpin–Tsai model, limiting the dynamic load buckling of the composite honeycomb reinforced sandwich structure embedded with viscoelastic damping material under axial compression can be achieved. The factors that influence the composite sandwich’s buckling loads are discussed and compared, such as the load and geometry parameters, the thickness of the honeycomb reinforcement layer and the honeycomb’s width. Finally, the results obtained by the present method are validated by the existing literature.

According to the facts of localized crushing failure of bolt groove in wood connection with enough end distance and the three-phase composites of wood with solid (wood substance), water, and gas, a confined compression test for the wood cylinder was conducted for achieving constitutive relation under the complex stress state in wood groove. A porous constitutive model was developed according to the confined compression experiments. Then, the constitutive model was implemented in a finite element modeling of mental dowel-type fasters in wood-to-wood connections to analyse the load-carrying capacity parallel to the grain. Through changing the thicknesses of centre members and side members of wood connections made of a similar wood species, Pinus Sylvestris var. Mongolica, the effects of thickness combinations of centre members and side members on the failure modes and load-carrying capacity of bolted wood connection including numerical simulations and experiments were compared. The failure modes, including the yielding of centre member, the yielding of side member, and the yielding of the bolt, as well as the rigid rotation of the bolt, all reappeared by the finite element modeling with the porous constitutive model. The predicted deformation shapes and load-displacement relations of bolted wood connections were compared with experimental ones, and good correlations were observed. This paper presents a new approach to simulate the local embedment crushing of bolt groove in wood connections.

We investigate the multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) problems with hesitant triangular fuzzy information. Firstly, definition and some operational laws of hesitant triangular fuzzy elements are introduced. Then, we develop some hesitant triangular fuzzy aggregation operators based on Bonferroni means and discuss their basic properties. Some existing operators can be viewed as their special cases. Next, we apply the proposed operators to deal with multiple attribute decision-making problems under hesitant triangular fuzzy environment. Finally, an illustrative example is given to show the developed method and demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness.

We investigate the multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems with dual hesitant fuzzy information. We first introduce some basic concepts and operations on dual hesitant fuzzy sets. Then, we develop some generalized dual hesitant fuzzy aggregation operators which encompass some existing operators as their particular cases and discuss their basic properties. Next, we apply the generalized dual hesitant fuzzy Choquet ordered aggregation (GDHFCOA) operator to deal with multiple attribute decision making problems under dual hesitant fuzzy environment. Finally, an illustrative example is given to show the developed method and demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness.

We first define an accuracy function of hesitant fuzzy elements (HFEs) and develop a new method to compare two HFEs. Then, based on Einstein operators, we give some new operational laws on HFEs and some desirable properties of these operations. We also develop several new hesitant fuzzy aggregation operators, including the hesitant fuzzy Einstein weighted geometric (HFEWGε) operator and the hesitant fuzzy Einstein ordered weighted geometric (HFEWGε) operator, which are the extensions of the weighted geometric operator and the ordered weighted geometric (OWG) operator with hesitant fuzzy information, respectively. Furthermore, we establish the connections between the proposed and the existing hesitant fuzzy aggregation operators and discuss various properties of the proposed operators. Finally, we apply the HFEWGε operator to solve the hesitant fuzzy decision making problems.

Soft set theory, initiated by Molodtsov, can be used as a new mathematical tool for dealing with imprecise, vague, and uncertain problems. In this paper, the concepts of two types of generalised interval-valued fuzzy soft set are proposed and their basic properties are studied. The lattice structures of generalised interval-valued fuzzy soft set are also discussed. Furthermore, an application of the new approach in decision making based on generalised interval-valued fuzzy soft set is developed.

Background. Intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) is considered a unique technique for retinoblastoma (Rb) management and has widespread applicability as a first-line or second-line treatment due to the high globe survival rates. Objectives. This meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy of IAC approach among patients with Rb. Materials and methods. This study outlined the most recent research on IAC effectiveness in Rb treatment. We carried out a systematic search for published papers examining IAC treatment among patients with Rb using electronic search engines, including Embase, Web of Science (WoS), PubMed, OVID, and Google Scholar, until October 2021. Results. This meta-analysis included 39 observational studies with 2604 treated eyes and 3112 individuals who were eligible for inclusion. Enucleation rates varied from 0% to 43.7% in the chosen trials, with an odds ratio (OR) of 0.52 (95% confidence interval (95% CI): 0.41-0.66, p < 0.0001). A range of 30-100% was reported for globe salvage across 27 investigations involving 2310 eyes. The estimated OR of globe salvage was 2.41, with 95% CI of 1.6-3.63 and a p-value <0.0001. The combined total effect sizes and the death rate for the proportion of cases with metastatic Rb were as follows: OR = 0.03 (95% CI: 0.03-0.03) and OR = 0.05 (95% CI: 0.04-0.05, p < 0.0001), respectively. Conclusions. Retrospective trials have shown that intra-arterial-based therapy for Rb is an effective choice. Intra-arterial chemotherapy also reduced enucleation and metastasis incidence rates.
