In order to explore the clinical application value of color Doppler ultrasound (CDUS), mammography (MAM), and serum tumor marker carbohydrate antigen 153 (CA153) in screening breast cancer (BC) for high-risk women, a total of 38,241 women were surveyed by epidemiological questionnaire on BC high-risk factors. A total of 10,821 cases were screened, accounting for 28.30%. They were randomly divided into US, MAM, and CA153 and combined examination group which has no significant difference in high-risk factors. Breast cancer in high-risk population was screened by CDUS, MAM, and CA153 and combined examination. CA153 was detected by electroluminescence method. The positive detection rate of BC was 360.41/100,000 (39/10,821). The overall difference in the positive detection rate of BC among 10,821 cases in all age groups was statistically significant. The sensitivity and negative predictive value of combined examination were significantly improved compared with each single examination. Combined examination for BC screening can significantly improve the sensitivity of BC early diagnosis and reduce the missed diagnosis rate.

Gliomas including astrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas, mixed oligoastrocytic, and mixed glioneuronal tumors are an important group of brain tumors. Based on the 2016 WHO classification for tumors in the central nervous system, gliomas were classified into four grades, from I to IV, and brain lower grade glioma (LGG) consists of grade II and grade III. Patients with LGG may undergo recurrence, which makes clinical treatment tough. Stem cell-like features of cancer cells play a key role in tumor’s biological behaviors, including tumorigenesis, development, and clinical prognosis. In this article, we quantified the stemness feature of cancer cells using the mRNA stemness index (mRNAsi) and identified stemness-related key genes based on correlation with mRNAsi. Besides, hallmark gene sets and translate factors (TFs) which were highly related to stemness-related key genes were identified. Therefore, a recurrency-specific network was constructed and a potential regulation pathway was identified. Several online databases, assay for transposase-accessible chromatin using sequencing (ATAC-seq), single-cell sequencing analysis, and immunohistochemistry were utilized to validate the scientific hypothesis. Finally, we proposed that aurora kinase A (AURKA), positively regulated by Non-SMC Condensin I Complex Subunit G (NCAPG), promoted E2F target pathway in LGG, which played an important role in LGG recurrence.

Nano-sized TiO2 and ZnO are the most efficient and widely used inorganic sunscreen, but they still have some drawbacks including agglomeration, delamination, clogging pores and high cost. In this study, a kaolinite-loaded zinc oxide nanocomposite sunscreen was prepared and the key technical problems in application of inorganic nano-sized sunscreens was solved. The synthesized kaolinite-loaded zinc oxide nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, XRF and UV–vis spectrophotometry. The SEM image of the nanocomposite suggests that agglomeration of nano-ZnO is avoided by bidirectional dispersion of superfine kaolinite powder and nano-ZnO. Nano-effect and UV shielding rate are enhanced and the nanocomposite sunscreen possesses UV shielding efficiency of 1 + 1 > 2. The UV shielding rate of the nanocomposite sunscreen is greater than 99%, only 10% addition of it endows ordinary skin care products with excellent UV protective efficacy. Moreover, the content of nano-ZnO is reduced by half through introduction of kaolinite, the cost of the sunscreen is lowered, delamination and pore clogging are avoided. This work provides a technical approach for producing stronger, safer and more economical popularized anti-UV skincare products.

With the development of the Internet, modern educational technology has brought about great changes in educational ideas and methods. Medical humanities course is an important part of medical curriculum. How to give full play to the advantages of the Internet and promote the quality of medical humanities courses is related to the training quality of modern medical talents. From the perspective of the advantages of Internet background, teaching design and teaching form, this paper discusses how to build internet medical humanities course, which aims to improve the quality of medical humanities course construction.

In order to strengthen the humanistic literacy of nursing undergraduate students, a course of “comprehensive training of nursing humanities” was set up in Grade 2018, and the teaching team was composed of professional teachers and clinical nursing staff, and 16 sessions of practical training content was designed. The content design is based on psychology, ethics, pedagogy and other disciplines, including artificial intelligence nursing, nursing ethics principles, empathy, positive attention, verbal communication, non-verbal communication, self-care, teamwork 8 practical training content. The implementation process of practical training adopts small class, 30 students per class. Experiential teaching design runs through the whole process, using group discussion, scene simulation, extended training and other teaching means. The teaching effect evaluation feedback is very good. The students reflect they love this course.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been shown to significantly inhibit fibroblast activity. However, the effect of PDT mediated by the photosensitizer hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether (HMME) on keloids is not known well. The aim of our study was to examine the efficacy of HMME-PDT in cellular and animal models of keloids. Keloid fibroblasts (KFbs) were isolated from human keloid specimens and the proliferation, invasion, and migration of KFbs after HMME-PDT treatment was examined in vitro. Apoptosis in cells was measured by flow cytometry. Cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase 3 (Caspase3) expression was determined by immunofluorescence staining and western blot. HMME-PDT inhibited KFbs proliferation, invasion, migration, increased apoptosis rate and enhanced caspase3 and cleaved caspase3 expression. The keloid graft transplantation was performed by using nude mice. The growth of the graft was monitored every third day. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) mRNA expression were detected by quantitative real time PCR. It was observed that HMME-PDT attenuated graft growth and reduced vessel density in the keloid grafts. However, HMME-PDT did not alter IL-6 and TNF-α mRNA expression in the keloid grafts. Moreover, HMME-PDT suppressed transforming growth-β1 (TGF-β1) and small phenotype and Drosophila Mothers Against Decapentaplegic 3 (Smad3) expression in both KFbs and keloid grafts. Collectively, the evidence suggests that HMME-PDT inhibits the growth of the keloid graft by promoting the apoptosis of fibroblasts and reducing vessel formation of the keloid graft.

Keloids (KDs) and hypertrophic scars (HSs), two forms of pathological scars, seriously affect the physical and psychological health of patients. Despite many similarities with HSs, KDs are characterized by invasion and a high rate of recurrence after surgery, features they share in common with tumors. The underlying molecular mechanisms of this phenomenon have not been fully elucidated. In this study, we used microRNA (miRNA) array analysis to search for invasion-associated miRNAs in KDs. The expression of miR-188-5p in KDs, HSs, normal skin (NS) tissues, and cell lines was measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Furthermore, cell proliferation, migration, and invasion were detected in KD fibroblasts (KFs) and HS fibroblasts (HSFs), and interrelated proteins were ascertained by western blot analysis. It was found that miR-188-5p was significantly decreased in KD tissue compared with HS and NS tissues. Upregulated expression of miR-188-5p suppressed KF proliferation, migration, and invasion; and decreased expression of miR-188-5p also promoted HSF proliferation, migration, and invasion. The protein levels of MMP-2, MMP-9, PI3K, and p-Akt in miR-188-5p mimic-transfected KFs were repressed. In contrast, after transfection with miR-188-5p inhibitor, the protein levels of MMP-2, MMP-9, PI3K, and p-Akt were higher than the control in HSFs. Treatment with PI3K/Akt inhibitor LY294002 in KFs with miR-188-5p inhibitor did not further reduce their proliferation, migration, and invasion. The upregulation of MMP-2 and MMP-9 by miR-188-5p inhibitor could be abolished by LY294002. These findings together demonstrate a tumor-suppressive role of miR-188-5p in KD proliferation and invasion via PI3K/Akt/MMP-2/9 signaling, indicating that miR-188-5p may be a potential prognostic marker and therapeutic target for KDs.

This paper investigates the correlations between 52 financial markets located in different countries or regions from July 2004 through June 2011. By using a correlation matrix time series and a participation frequency method based on the random matrix theory, we show that a time-stable information structure is contained in the correlations between global financial markets. We further find that the information structure is closely associated with global market and global geographical factors, and that each financial index's participation in the global market factor varies over time and presents dynamics. Two patterns, hierarchy and cluster effects, are found to be in the dynamics of the indices' participation in the global market factor. The cluster effect implies a more concentrated participation during the 2008 financial crisis.

An epidermoid cyst is a common keratin-filled epithelial-lined cyst in clinic, which generally present as a slowly and progressively growing lesion. Surgical treatment is usually performed for epidermoid cysts. In this article, we describe a giant epidermoid cyst on the buttock, which has been growing for 20 years with no rupture.

Perifolliculitis capitis abscedens et suffodiens (PCAS) is a rare, chronic, suppurative and inflammatory scalp disease with aetiology and pathogenesis not completely understood. The treatment of PCAS usually represents a challenging problem with frustrating outcome (1). Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an approach considered to be useful to treat tumors, bacterial and fungal infections (2-4). We report 9 cases of patients who suffered from PCAS in varying degrees. Photodynamic therapy combined with surgery were used in these cases and the results were satisfactory. In conclusion, photodynamic therapy may provide a new way to treat PCAS.

In continuation of our investigation of the dibenzylideneacetone scaffold as Aβ imaging probes, a series of derivatives containing pyridine rings with lower lipophilicity was synthesized and evaluated. Some of these probes displayed high affinities to Aβ1–42 aggregates, which ranged from 18.0 to 8.2 nM. The high and specific binding of the radiolabeled tracers was further confirmed by in vitro autoradiography on brain sections from AD patients and transgenic mouse. In biodistribution experiments, two 18F-labeled tracers [18F]17a and [18F]18 displayed high initial brain uptake (5.05 and 6.24% ID g−1, respectively, at 2 min postinjection) and fast clearance from the brain with brain2 min/brain60 min ratios of 6.08 and 8.00. These results demonstrate that the probes [18F]17a and [18F]18 with a dibenzylideneacetone structure containing pyridine rings have great strength in imaging Aβ plaques in the brain.

The molecular mechanism of the pathogenesis of keloids is still not known and the clinical management of keloids remains challenging. MiRNA (microRNA) is a novel class of small regulatory RNAs that has emerged as key post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression. MiRNAs participate in diverse biological processes of various skin diseases and function as key regulators in the occurrence and development of tumors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the involvement of miRNAs in keloid pathogenesis. We performed miRNA microarray analysis to compare miRNA expression between keloid and normal skin samples. We found that 46 miRNAs were upregulated and 28 miRNAs were downregulated in keloid compared with normal skin samples. We focused on miR-1224-5p, which has been reported to function in cancers, although the expression and mechanism of miR-1224-5p in keloids remain to be explored. Overexpression of miR-1224-5p led to inhibition of keloid fibroblast proliferation, promotion of apoptosis and decrease of migration and invasion. Our results suggest that downregulation of miR-1224-5p may be one of the mechanisms involved in the occurrence and development of keloids.

The Alzheimer's disease (AD) brain is characterized by β-amyloid deposition, hyperphosphorylation of microtubule-associated proteins, formation of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles, and degeneration of specific neuronal populations. Collapsin response mediator protein 2 (CRMP-2) hyperphosphorylation has been implicated in AD-associated neural process regression and neurofibrillary tangle formation. Curcumin is a promising AD drug with incompletely defined therapeutic mechanisms. One possibility is that curcumin prevents β-amyloid-induced CRMP-2 hyperphosphorylation, thereby protecting against axonal regression and (or) promoting axonal regrowth. In the rotation equation of the angle θ between the molecular axis and the laser polarization direction, the dependence of laser-induced polarizability on the molecular internuclear distance R is considered. The effect of the R dependence of laser-induced polarizability on molecular dynamic alignment in an intense femtosecond laser field is investigated with 20 and 100 fs laser pulses for N2 molecules and with 60 and 100 fs laser pulses for Br2 molecules at intensities of 5×1014 W cm−2 and 5×1015 W cm−2. This effect exists and only occurs during the dissociative process after the molecule is ionized. It enhances the degrees of molecular dynamic alignment and is more significant in reorienting the angular distributions of molecules towards the laser polarization direction in the conditions of high laser intensity and short pulse length. Compared with the N2 molecule, the effect of the R dependence of laser-induced polarizability on molecular dynamic alignment for Br2 is stronger. The reasons are presented and discussed.

In this study, in order to improve the teaching effects in clinical medicine courses, multimedia teaching and traditional teaching were combined in operation programme in nursing major. One hundred and two undergraduates majoring in nursing were distributed randomly into two groups, i.e., the case group and the control group. The case group was administrated in traditional teaching method, while combined teaching method was applied to the case group. The results indicated that the combined teaching method being a useful and effective teaching method, was worthy of spreading.
