Abstract Background Understanding the impact of environmental factors on physical activity (PA) and physical fitness (PF) is crucial for promoting a healthy lifestyle among children and adolescents. This study examines how awareness of sports policies, school, family, and community environments influence PA and PF in Chinese youth. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted with 2747 children and adolescents (mean age 12.90 ± 2.49; 48.2% male) from 17 schools across five Chinese cities. Environmental factors were assessed via questionnaires, and PA levels were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF). PF metrics, including BMI, waist-to-height ratio, grip strength, vertical jump, and 20-m shuttle run test (20-mSRT), were measured onsite. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to explore relationships between environmental factors and PA/PF outcomes. Results The school environment scored highest (78.0 ± 9.5), while the community environment scored lowest (38.7 ± 18.0). Family environment positively influenced low-intensity PA (LPA) (β = 0.102, P

In this investigation, a Fe–20Mn–9Al-1.5C lightweight austenitic steel has been developed through strategic alloying with Ni and Cr elements coupled with the employment of a thermo-mechanical processing technique featuring ultra-fast cooling. This composition and treatment synergistically transcend the conventional trade-off between strength and ductility, positioning the mechanical performance of this steel notably above that of comparable low-density austenitic steels previously reported. The coordinated incorporation of Ni and Cr is key to modulating the precipitation threshold for nanoscale κ-carbides and LRO domains, achieving an optimal size for precipitate-induced strengthening. The incorporation of Cr specifically contributes to a dual enhancement mechanism: it fosters the generation of high-density dislocation arrays (HDDA) and refines the dynamic slip band (DSBR) during deformation, which in turn, elevates the strain hardenability and ductility. The remarkable synergy in strength and ductility is attributed to a combination of mechanisms including grain boundary reinforcement, solid solution hardening, the precipitation strengthening effect of nanoscale precipitates, and the activation of secondary slip system dislocations. This synergy is quantitatively reflected in the material's yield strength (YS) exceeding 1100 MPa, ultimate tensile strength (UTS) surpassing 1200 MPa, and a total elongation (TEL) exceeding 45%. The insights gained from this research provide critical guidance for the design and creation of austenitic low-density steels that do not compromise between strength and ductility, thereby offering superior overall performance.

Fretting wear is the main factor restricting the application of titanium alloy as compressor blades. Preparing a kind of high entropy alloy (HEA) coating is an effective way to improve the fretting wear resistance under high temperature conditions. Thus, in the present work, the FeCrAlMoxNby HEA coating was fabricated on a Ti-64 substrate by the laser cladding technology. The phase composition, microstructure and fretting wear resistance of the coating at high temperatures (200 °C, 300 °C and 400 °C) were investigated. It was demonstrated that the laser cladding FeCrAlMoxNby HEA coatings exhibited dense and uniform microstructures consisting of a BCC phase and a Laves phase (Cr2Nb). In addition, the changing trend of phase content of BCC and Laves phase is the same as the trend of atomic content of Mo and Nb respectively. The presence of the Laves phase increases the hardness of the coating. Due to its high hardness and the formation of a protective oxide layer, the coating demonstrated significantly superior resistance to high-temperature fretting wear compared to the substrate. The lowest wear rate is Mo0·5Nb0.5 coating at 300 °C, only 1.3 × 10−6 mm3/N·m. The current results provide a new method to protect titanium alloy's surface from fretting wear damage in high-temperature service environments.

Abstract Background Zolpidem is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic widely used to manage insomnia. Zolpidem-triggered atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with cardiomyopathy has never been reported before. Case presentation A 40-year-old man with Duchenne muscular dystrophy-related cardiomyopathy attempted suicide and developed new-onset AF after zolpidem overdose. One year before admission, the patient visited our clinic due to chest discomfort and fatigue after daily walks for 1 month; both electrocardiography (ECG) and 24-hour Holter ECG results did not detect AF. After administration of cardiac medication (digoxin 0.125 mg/day, spironolactone 40 mg/day, furosemide 20 mg/day, bisoprolol 5 mg/day, sacubitril/valsartan 12/13 mg/day), he felt better. AF had never been observed before this admission via continuous monitoring during follow-up. Sixteen days before admission, the patient saw a sleep specialist and started zolpidem tartrate tablets (10 mg/day) due to insomnia for 6 months; ECG results revealed no significant change. The night before admission, the patient attempted suicide by overdosing on 40 mg of zolpidem after an argument, which resulted in severe lethargy. Upon admission, his ECG revealed new-onset AF, necessitating immediate cessation of zolpidem. Nine hours into admission, AF spontaneously terminated into normal sinus rhythm. Results from the ECG on the following days and the 24-hour Holter ECG at 1-month follow-up showed that AF was not detected. Conclusions This study provides valuable clinical evidence indicating that zolpidem overdose may induce AF in patients with cardiomyopathy. It serves as a critical warning for clinicians when prescribing zolpidem, particularly for patients with existing heart conditions. Further large-scale studies are needed to validate this finding and to explore the mechanisms between zolpidem and AF.

Relational governance has showed great potential in addressing many of the construction industry’s problems, such as opportunism and agency problems. While multiple research efforts have been directed at examining different roles of relational governance elements, few studies paid attention to show the link between different relational governance elements and project management performance. So, this study aims to address such gap by fully considering relational governance elements affecting project management performance. To this end, this paper (1) divided relational governance elements into relational situation, relational norm, and relational behavior for the first time, deepening our understanding of relational governance elements in the construction industry; (2) determined the impact of these relational governance elements on project management performance. The findings contribute to the understanding of relational governance elements in the construction industry, how relational governance and project management performance are really linked, and what the fundamental paths are in the chain by specifying the elements of relational governance in a more detailed way. These findings also give owners and contractors insight into improving project management performance.

As a key component of lithium-ion batteries, a separator with excellent electrolyte wettability and good thermal stability has an important impact on the overall performance of lithium-ion batteries. Herein, a PVDF/sepiolite electrospun layer was coated on one side of the PP separator via electrospinning technology to prepare the composite separator (xMS-PVDF@PP) with sepiolite nanofibers modified with vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES) to ameliorate their dispersibility and compatibility with PVDF polymer matrix. The effect of modified sepiolite addition amounts on the physical and electrochemical properties of composite separator was intensively studied. It is found that the as-prepared xMS-PVDF@PP composite separator displays enhanced porosity, electrolyte uptake, thermal stability and Li+ ion transport kinetics than pristine PP separator. Specifically, Li|LiFePO4 battery with 20MS-PVDF@PP as separator shows the best rate and cycling performance, with a specific discharge capacity of 115.3 mAh·g–1 at 10C rate and a capacity retention rate of 97.06% after 200 cycles at 1C rate. The sepiolite in the electrospun layer can immobilize PF6– anion to facilitate the uniform distribution of Li+ ions and then inhibit the lithium dendrite growth, as well as absorb HF to alleviate Fe2+ dissolution from LiFePO4 cathode, thereby further improving the electrochemical performance of LiFePO4 battery.

Abstract Legume-rhizobia root-nodule symbioses involve the recognition of rhizobial Nod factor (NF) signals by NF receptors, triggering both nodule organogenesis and rhizobial infection. RinRK1 is induced by NF signaling and is essential for infection thread (IT) formation in Lotus japonicus. However, the precise mechanism underlying this process remains unknown. Here, we show that RinRK1 interacts with the extracellular domains of NF receptors (NFR1 and NFR5) to promote their accumulation at root hair tips in response to rhizobia or NFs. Furthermore, Flotillin 1 (Flot1), a nanodomain-organizing protein, associates with the kinase domains of NFR1, NFR5 and RinRK1. RinRK1 promotes the interactions between Flot1 and NF receptors and both RinRK1 and Flot1 are necessary for the accumulation of NF receptors at root hair tips upon NF stimulation. Our study shows that RinRK1 and Flot1 play a crucial role in NF receptor complex assembly within localized plasma membrane signaling centers to promote symbiotic infection.

Abstract Background The antiviral drug Nirmatrelvir was found to be a key drug in controlling the progression of pneumonia during the infectious phase of COVID-19. However, there are very few options for effective treatment for cancer patients who have viral pneumonia. Glucocorticoids is one of the effective means to control pneumonia, but there are many adverse events. EGCG is a natural low toxic compound with anti-inflammatory function. Thus, this study was designed to investigate the safety and efficacy of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) aerosol to control COVID-19 pneumonia in cancer populations. Methods The study was designed as a prospective, single-arm, open-label phase I/II trial at Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute, between January 5, 2023 to March 31,2023 with viral pneumonia on radiographic signs after confirmed novel coronavirus infection. These patients were treated with EGCG nebulization 10 ml three times daily for at least seven days. EGCG concentrations were increased from 1760-8817umol/L to 4 levels with dose escalation following a standard Phase I design of 3–6 patients per level. Any grade adverse event caused by EGCG was considered a dose-limiting toxicity (DLT). The maximum tolerated dose (MTD) is defined as the highest dose with less than one-third of patients experiencing dose limiting toxicity (DLT) due to EGCG. The primary end points were the toxicity of EGCG and CT findings, and the former was graded by Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) v. 5.0. The secondary end point was the laboratory parameters before and after treatment. Result A total of 60 patients with high risk factors for severe COVID-19 pneumonia (factors such as old age, smoking and combined complications)were included in this phase I-II study. The 54 patients in the final analysis were pathologically confirmed to have tumor burden and completed the whole course of treatment. A patient with bucking at a level of 1760 umol/L and no acute toxicity associated with EGCG has been reported at the second or third dose gradients. At dose escalation to 8817umol/L, Grade 1 adverse events of nausea and stomach discomfort occurred in two patients, which resolved spontaneously within 1 hour. After one week of treatment, CT showed that the incidence of non-progression of pneumonia was 82% (32/39), and the improvement rate of pneumonia was 56.4% (22/39). There was no significant difference in inflammation-related laboratory parameters (white blood cell count, lymphocyte count, IL-6, ferritin, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase) before and after treatment. Conclusion Aerosol inhalation of EGCG is well tolerated, and preliminary investigation in cancer population suggests that EGCG may be effective in COVID-19-induced pneumonia, which can promote the improvement of patients with moderate pneumonia or prevent them from developing into severe pneumonia. Summary: Background: In non-high-risk individuals, risk-category-based atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) screening strategies may be more cost-effective than one-size-fits-all approaches. However, current decisions are constrained by a lack of research evidence. We aimed to explore appropriate risk-category-based screening interval strategies for non-high-risk individuals in ASCVD primary prevention in the Chinese population. Methods: We used data from 28,624 participants in the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) who had completed at least two field surveys. The risk assessment tools were the 10-year ASCVD risk prediction models developed based on the CKB cohort. We constructed multistate Markov models to model disease progression and estimate transition probabilities between different risk categories. The total person-years spent unidentified in the high-risk state over a 10-year period were calculated for each screening interval protocol. We also estimated the number of ASCVD events prevented, quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) gained, and costs saved when compared to the 3-yearly screening protocol. Findings: When compared to the uniform 3-yearly protocol, most risk-category-based screening interval protocols would identify more high-risk individuals timely, thus preventing more ASCVD events and gaining QALYs. A few of them would reduce total health-care costs. The protocol, which used 6-year, 3-year, and 2-year screening intervals for low-risk, intermediate-low-risk, and intermediate-high risk individuals, was optimal, and would reduce the person-years spent unidentified in the high-risk category by 17.9% (95% CI: 13.1%–21.9%), thus preventing an estimated 113 thousand (95% CI: 83–138) hard ASCVD events for Chinese adults aged 30–79 over a 10-year period. When using a lower cost of statin therapy, more screening protocols would gain QALYs while saving costs. Interpretation: For the primary prevention of ASCVD, risk-category-based screening protocols outperformed the one-size-fits-all approach in the Chinese population. PurposeThe learning subjective well-being of high school students has significant value for their academic achievement and future life development. A growth mindset is one of the key factors affecting the learning subjective well-being of high school students. However, research on the mechanism by which a growth mindset affects learning subjective well-being is still relatively limited. Therefore, the study aims to investigate the impact of a growth mindset on the learning subjective well-being of high school students, as well as the role that achievement motivation and grit play as serial mediators in this relationship.MethodsThis study employed a convenience sampling method to select 708 high school students from Chinese public high schools as participants. The research utilized the Growth Mindset Scale, Achievement Motivation Scale, Grit Scale, and the Learning Subjective Well-being Questionnaire for High School Students to collect data. All data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0, employing Model 6 from Hayes’ SPSS PROCESS macro to test the serial mediation model.ResultsOur results found that (1) high school students’ growth mindset positively predicted their learning subjective well-being. (2) Achievement motivation played a mediating role between a growth mindset and learning subjective well-being among high school students. (3) Grit acted as a mediator between learning subjective well-being and growth mindset among high school students. (4) Achievement motivation and grit served as serial mediators between a growth mindset and learning subjective well-being among high school students.ConclusionA growth mindset can influence the learning subjective well-being of high school students through achievement motivation and grit. Educators can enhance the learning subjective well-being of high school students by implementing intervention strategies that foster a growth mindset, achievement motivation, and grit.

BackgroundThe relationship between ferroptosis and the progression and treatment of hematological tumors has been extensively studied, although its precise association with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) remains uncertain.MethodsMulti-transcriptome sequencing data were utilized to analyze the ferroptosis level of CML samples and its correlation with the tumor microenvironment, disease progression, and treatment response. Machine learning algorithms were employed to identify diagnostic ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs). The consensus clustering algorithm was applied to identify ferroptosis-related molecular subtypes. Clinical samples were collected for sequencing to validate the results obtained from bioinformatics analysis. Cell experiments were conducted to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of induced ferroptosis in drug-resistant CML.ResultsFerroptosis scores were significantly lower in samples from patients with CML compared to normal samples, and these scores further decreased with disease progression and non-response to treatment. Most FRGs were downregulated in CML samples. A high ferroptosis score was also associated with greater immunosuppression and increased activity of metabolic pathways. Through support vector machine recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE), least absolute shrinkage selection operator (LASSO), and random forest (RF) algorithms, we identified five FRGs (ACSL6, SLC11A2, HMOX1, SLC38A1, AKR1C3) that have high diagnostic value. The clinical diagnostic value of these five FRGs and their effectiveness in differentiating CML from other hematological malignancies were validated using additional validation cohorts and our real-world cohort. There are significant differences in immune landscape, chemosensitivity, and immunotherapy responsiveness between the two ferroptosis-related molecular subtypes. By conducting cellular experiments, we confirmed that CML-resistant cells are more sensitive to induction of ferroptosis and can enhance the sensitivity of imatinib treatment.ConclusionOur study unveils the molecular signature of ferroptosis in samples from patients with CML. FRG identified by a variety of machine learning algorithms has reliable clinical diagnostic value. Furthermore, the characterization of different ferroptosis-related molecular subtypes provides valuable insights into individual patient characteristics and can guide clinical treatment strategies. Targeting and inducing ferroptosis holds great promise as a therapeutic approach for drug-resistant CML.

[Objective] China′s independent safety assessment (ISA) on urban rail transit vehicles is still in its initial development stage in that the relatively complete theories and standardization remain to be formed, and there are still deficiencies in specialization, systematization and other aspects. Therefore, it is necessary to study the strategy of ISA on urban rail transit vehicles. [Method] In view of the FAO (fully automatic operating system) urban rail transit projects opened for operation and under construction in China, and with focus on hidden hazard identifying and risk control in vehicle system, ISA is conducted on the safety assessment activities and the key points of the safety certification system at stages of vehicle design, vehicle manufacturing, and test verification. Focusing on the special risks of vehicles in the FAO projects, ISA mainly includes safety document evaluation, safety assessment on special risk, and safety audit, and runs through the entire vehicle construction period. [Result & Conclusion] Some of the FAO urban rail transit projects in China that complete the vehicle ISA show that the risk control related to the vehicle system is acceptable. Theoretical and practical experience in evaluation strategies, methods, and reports is accumulated. However, deficiencies still exist in specialization and systematization. It is necessary to improve the vehicle ISA system and form corresponding ISA standards for China.

Abstract To explore the influencing factors of consumers’ impulsive purchase behavior in live streaming, based on the Stimulus-Organism-Response framework, we construct the model of how streamers influence consumers’ impulsive purchase behavior by consulting literature. Collected data by means of a questionnaire, and made an empirical study by using the structural equation model to explore the mechanism of streamer affecting consumers’ impulsive purchase behavior. The results show that streamer characteristics (personal charisma, professionalism) and streamer performance (interactivity, entertainment) affect consumers’ impulsive purchase behavior by affecting consumers’ trust and flow experience. The empirical results have important theoretical and practical significance.

Based on the textual-analyzed data covering 2148 IPO firms in China’s stock market during the 2007–2018 period, the authors’ purpose is to examine the influence of anti-takeover provision (ATP) adoption on initial public offerings (IPO) underpricing and identify the reducing effect of the former. The authors examine the sample consisting of Chinese A-share listed IPO firms between 2007 and 2018 from China Stock Market Accounting Research and Chinese Research Data Services, with ATP data collected from the IPO firm chapters. Specifically, the authors use text analysis to identify whether there are ATPs in the IPO firm chapters, as well as the number of ATPs. H1: IPO underpricing is less severe for firms adopting ATPs. H2: The effect of ATP adoption on IPO underpricing is more salient for firms in worse information environments. The authors examine the influence of ATP adoption on IPO underpricing and identify the reducing effect of the former. This effect can be explained by the fact that adopting ATPs in IPO firm chapters can reduce information asymmetry to a large extent by helping external investors obtain more private information, which alleviates IPO underpricing. The authors also find that the reducing effect is more significant in the worsened information environment. Furthermore, the authors explore the influence of adopting ATPs on other IPO characteristics and find positive effects on IPO over-subscription, funds raised and trading activity and negative effects on listing fees. This study mainly contributes to the literature from the following two aspects. First, the study enriches the literature about the influencing factors of IPO underpricing. Second, the study also enriches the literature about the economic consequences of ATP adoption. This study also has important policy implications. With the coming of the era of decentralized ownership in China’s capital market, ATP adoption has become more important and attracted more attention. Also, investors focus more on pricing efficiency. The findings in this paper provide a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between ATP adoption and IPO underpricing.

Flexible photodetector is crucial for the intelligent industrial applications. However, the optical-sensitive materials are usually grown in a high temperature and then transferred onto the flexible substrate. This paper reported a directly fabricated flexible photodetector based on TiO2-doped Graphene Nanosheets Embedded Carbon (GNEC)film. An Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) system was employed to in-situ deposit TiO2-doped GNEC film on a polyimide substrate, which were subsequently sensitized with N719 dye to fabricate the TiO2@GNEC photodetector. The GNEC film contains vertically aligned Graphene Nanosheets (GNs), which exhibit high-density edge states. The edge states suppress the recombination rate of photo-generated electron-hole pairs, thereby significantly enhancing the photo-responsive performance. The photodetector demonstrates a high photo responsivity of 0.82 mA/W and a response time of 1.93 seconds. Due to the in-situ manufacturing capabilities of the ECR system, which avoids defects from secondary material transfers, the photodetector array exhibits excellent consistency and achieves clear recognition of light patterns in both flat and bent states.

Since the stage of Industry 4.0, high-end product design and new technology development have become the key to manufacturing innovation for some countries. As the foundation and carrier of high-tech industries, manufacturing is an important guarantee for national security, and companies engaging in manufacturing should make efforts to improve their product R&D capability while paying attention to economic benefits. However, there is still a lack of feasible index system to evaluate the product R&D capability of manufacturing industry. For the purpose, through the research methods of index evaluation and empirical analysis, this paper took the Chinese manufacturing industry as subject, selected 1344 companies in 28 industries as research samples. Then, this paper analyzed the situation of some sample companies in detail, discussed the product R&D conditions of current manufacturing companies from a few perspectives: inside, outside, and the industry. The results showed that the current product R&D capability of China's manufacturing industry can be divided into three levels. This paper provided a practical evaluation model for the manufacturing industry and contributed to policy recommendations.

Background Acute kidney injury (AKI) is one of the most common complications for critically ill patients with cirrhosis, but it has remained unclear whether urine output fluctuations are associated with the risk of AKI in such patients. Thus, we explored the influence of 24-h urine-output trajectory on AKI in patients with cirrhosis through latent category trajectory modeling.Materials and Methods This retrospective cohort study examined patients with cirrhosis using the MIMIC-IV database. Changes in the trajectories of urine output within 24 h after admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) were categorized using latent category trajectory modeling. The outcome examined was the occurrence of AKI during ICU hospitalization. The risk of AKI in patients with different trajectory classes was explored using the cumulative incidence function (CIF) and the Fine-Gray model with the sub-distribution hazard ratio (SHR) and the 95% confidence interval (CI) as size effects.Results The study included 3,562 critically ill patients with cirrhosis, of which 2,467 (69.26%) developed AKI during ICU hospitalization. The 24-h urine-output trajectories were split into five classes (Classes 1–5). The CIF curves demonstrated that patients with continuously low urine output (Class 2), a rapid decline in urine output after initially high levels (Class 3), and urine output that decreased slowly and then stabilized at a lower level (Class 4) were at higher risk for AKI than those with consistently moderate urine output (Class 1). After fully adjusting for various confounders, Classes 2, 3, and 4 were associated with a higher risk of AKI compared with Class 1, and the respective SHRs (95% CIs) were 2.56 (1.87–3.51), 1.86 (1.34–2.59), and 1.83 1.29–2.59).Conclusions The 24-h urine-output trajectory is significantly associated with the risk of AKI in critically ill patients with cirrhosis. More attention should be paid to the dynamic nature of urine-output changes over time, which may help guide early intervention and improve patients’ prognoses.

BackgroundThis study aimed to establish a comprehensive clinical prognostic risk model based on pulmonary function tests. This model was intended to guide the evaluation and predictive management of patients with resectable stage I-III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy.MethodsClinical pathological characteristics and prognostic survival data for 175 patients were collected. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis were employed to identify variables and construct corresponding models. These variables were integrated to develop a ridge regression model. The models’ discrimination and calibration were evaluated, and the optimal model was chosen following internal validation. Comparative analyses between the risk scores or groups of the optimal model and clinical factors were conducted to explore the potential clinical application value.ResultsUnivariate regression analysis identified smoking, complete pathologic response (CPR), and major pathologic response (MPR) as protective factors. Conversely, T staging, D-dimer/white blood cell ratio (DWBCR), D-dimer/fibrinogen ratio (DFR), and D-dimer/minute ventilation volume actual ratio (DMVAR) emerged as risk factors. Evaluation of the models confirmed their capability to accurately predict patient prognosis, exhibiting ideal discrimination and calibration, with the ridge regression model being optimal. Survival analysis demonstrated that the disease-free survival (DFS) in the high-risk group (HRG) was significantly shorter than in the low-risk group (LRG) (P=2.57×10-13). The time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve indicated that the area under the curve (AUC) values at 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years were 0.74, 0.81, and 0.79, respectively. Clinical correlation analysis revealed that men with lung squamous cell carcinoma or comorbid chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were predominantly in the LRG, suggesting a better prognosis and potentially identifying a beneficiary population for this treatment combination.ConclusionThe prognostic model developed in this study effectively predicts the prognosis of patients with NSCLC receiving neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy. It offers valuable predictive insights for clinicians, aiding in developing treatment plans and monitoring disease progression.

Background: Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a common urinary system disease that is prone to recurrence. It typically leads to varying degrees of pelvic pain and discomfort, as well as symptoms related to the urinary system in affected patients. QianLieJinDan tablets (QLJD), a traditional Chinese medicine, have shown promising therapeutic effects on CP/CPPS in clinical practice, but the underlying mechanisms of QLJD in treating CP/CPPS have not been determined. Objective: To reveal the phytochemical characterization and multitarget mechanism of QLJD on CP/CPPS. Methods: The concentrations of the components of QLJD were determined using UHPLC-Q Exactive Orbitrap-MS. Utilizing network pharmacology approaches, the potential components, targets, and pathways involved in the treatment of CP/CPPS caused by QLJD were screened. Molecular docking calculations were employed to assess the affinity between the components of the QLJD and potential targets, revealing the optimal molecular conformation and binding site. Finally, the therapeutic efficacy and potential underlying mechanisms of QLJD were investigated through pharmacological experiments. Results: In this study, a total of 35 components targeting 29 CP-related genes were identified, among which quercetin, baicalin, icariin, luteolin, and gallic acid were the major constituents. Enrichment analysis revealed that the potential targets were involved mainly in the regulation of cytokines, cell proliferation and apoptosis, and the oxidative stress response and were primarily associated with the cytokine‒cytokine receptor interaction pathway, the IL-17 signaling pathway, the Th17 cell differentiation pathway, and the JAK-STAT signaling pathway. In vivo experiments demonstrated that QLJD effectively attenuated the infiltration of CD3+ T cells and the expression of ROS in a CP/CPPS model rat prostate tissue. Furthermore, through the inhibition of IL-6 and STAT3 expression, QLJD reduced the differentiation of Th17 cells, thereby ameliorating pathological injury and prostatic index in prostate tissue. Conclusion: The potential of QLJD as an anti-CP/CPPS agent lies in its ability to interfere with the expression of IL-6 and STAT3, inhibit Th17 cell differentiation, reduce inflammatory cell infiltration in rat prostate tissue, and alleviate oxidative stress damage through its multi-component, multi-target, and multi-pathway effects.

ABSTRACTThe gut microbiome is a symbiotic microbial community associated with the host and plays multiple important roles in host physiology, nutrition, and health. A number of factors have been shown to influence the gut microbiome, among which diet is considered to be one of the most important; however, the relationship between diet composition and gut microbiota in wild mammals is still not well recognized. Herein, we characterized the gut microbiota of bats and examined the effects of diet, host taxa, body size, gender, elevation, and latitude on the gut microbiota. The cytochrome C oxidase subunit I (COI) gene and 16S rRNA gene amplicons were sequenced from the feces of eight insectivorous bat species in southern China, including Miniopterus fuliginosus, Aselliscus stoliczkanus, Myotis laniger, Rhinolophus episcopus, Rhinolophus osgoodi, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, Rhinolophus affinis, and Rhinolophus pusillus. The results showed that the composition of gut microbiome and diet exhibited significant differences among bat species. Diet composition and gut microbiota were significantly correlated at the order, family, genus, and operational taxonomic unit levels, while certain insects had a marked effect on the gut microbiome at specific taxonomic levels. In addition, elevation, latitude, body weight of bats, and host species had significant effects on the gut microbiome, but phylosymbiosis between host phylogeny and gut microbiome was lacking. These findings clarify the relationship between gut microbiome and diet and contribute to improving our understanding of host ecology and the evolution of the gut microbiome in wild mammals.IMPORTANCEThe gut microbiome is critical for the adaptation of wildlife to the dynamic environment. Bats are the second-largest group of mammals with short intestinal tract, yet their gut microbiome is still poorly studied. Herein, we explored the relationships between gut microbiome and food composition, host taxa, body size, gender, elevation, and latitude. We found a significant association between diet composition and gut microbiome in insectivorous bats, with certain insect species having major impacts on gut microbiome. Factors like species taxa, body weight, elevation, and latitude also affected the gut microbiome, but we failed to detect phylosymbiosis between the host phylogeny and the gut microbiome. Overall, our study presents novel insights into how multiple factors shape the bat’s gut microbiome together and provides a study case on host-microbe interactions in wildlife.

Objective:This experiment aimed to obtain the relatively rare cis-crocetin isomer from natural plants, which predominantly exist in the more stable all-trans configuration. This was achieved through iodine-induced isomerization, followed by purification and structural identification. The study also aimed to compare the pharmacokinetic differences between cis- and trans-crocetin in vivo.Methods:Trans-crocetin of high purity was extracted by hydrolysis from gardenia yellow pigment. Cis-crocetin was then synthesized through an optimized electrophilic addition reaction induced by elemental iodine, and subsequently separated and purified via silica gel column chromatography. Structural identification of cis-crocetin was determined using IR, UV, and NMR techniques. In vivo pharmacokinetic studies were conducted for both cis- and trans-crocetin. In addition to this, we have conducted a comparative study on the in vivo anti-hypoxic activity of trans- and cis-crocetin.Results:Under the selected reaction conditions using DMF as the solvent, with a concentration of 2.5 mg/mL for both trans-crocetin and the iodine solution, and adjusting the illumination time according to the amount of trans-crocetin, the rate of iodine-induced isomerization was the fastest. Cis-crocetin was successfully obtained and, after purification, its structure was identified and found to be consistent with reported data. Cis-crocetin exhibited a faster absorption rate and higher bioavailability, and despite its shorter half-life, it could partially convert to trans-crocetin in the body, thereby extending the duration of the drug’s action within the body to some extent.Conclusion:This study accomplished the successful preparation and structural identification of cis-crocetin. Additionally, through pharmacokinetic studies, it uncovered notable variations in bioavailability between cis- and trans-crocetin. These findings serve as a solid scientific foundation for future functional research and practical applications in this field.

【Objective】A mathematical evaluation model, D(x), was established to provide a reference for the evaluation, identification and genetic improvement of seed vitality traits in rice.【Method】Taking 25 rice seeds as materials, multiple indexes were determined through standard germination experiment, tetrazolium staining identification, field simulation experiment and Q2 technology, and these indexes were analyzed by principal component analysis combined with membership function method and multiple linear regression, to establish the mathematical evaluation model for seed vitality, D(x). And the D(x) model was used to evaluate the influence of different cultivation densities on rice seed vitality.【Result】The results showed that the average values of germination vigor, germination rate, 7-day bud length, hundred-seed fresh weight, field bud length, field root length, starting metabolism rate (SMR), increased motabolism time (IMT), relative germination time (RGT), and tetrazolium staining rate of indica rice were all higher than those of japonica rice. However, only the average values of 7-day root length, hundred-seed dry weight, and oxygen metabolism rate (OMR) of indica rice were slightly lower than those of japonica rice. In the Q2 test, japonica rice exhibited better performance in IMT value, RGT value, and other indicators. Correlation analysis of 13 rice seed vitality indexes revealed varying degrees of correlations among them. In the Q2 test, SMR value was extremely significantly correlated with IMT value, OMR value, RGT value, and hundred-seed dry weight, and significantly correlated with field bud length. OMR value was extremely significantly correlated with SMR value, IMT value, RGT value, and significantly correlated with germination vigor. A seed vitality comprehensive mathematical evaluation model Y(x) = 0.693+0.003X1-0.006X2-0.127X6-0.004X8+0.234X9 (R2=0.94) was established through stepwise regression. The predicted vitality values (Y) obtained from these five indexes were in close agreement with the order of field emergence rate among the tested materials, and they were highly correlated (r=0.83), indicating that this regression equation could effectively predict rice seed vitality.【Conclusion】Five individual indexes, namely, germination vigor, germination rate, hundred-seed dry weight, oxygen metabolism rate (OMR) and germination initiation time (IMT) could be selected as the basis for the evaluation of seed vitality.

Abstract Edible mushrooms are highly valued for both their culinary and medicinal properties. Unlike traditional condiments, the complex flavor of mushrooms is not determined by a single component, but rather by the potential synergistic actions of several different components and chemical interactions. However, only a limited number of edible mushroom flavor compounds have been examined in detail, leading to an incomplete understanding of their overall flavor profile. To address this knowledge gap, it is necessary to conduct further scientific research on edible mushroom flavors to maximize their utilization. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the flavor substances found in edible mushrooms, including both volatile and nonvolatile compounds, as well as the mechanisms by which various processing methods affect flavor. Additionally, we will explore the various factors that hinder the development of edible mushroom flavors and recommend strategies to further advance the technological and theoretical understanding of these unique and valuable food ingredients. In summary, by enhancing our understanding of the complex and unique flavor profile of edible mushrooms, we can better leverage their full potential as a valuable culinary and medicinal resource.

Abstract Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been increasingly employed for fungicide applications in plant disease control. However, due to weight limitations, the fungicides sprayed through UAVs must be in low volumes with high concentrations in many instances, which may result in potential phytotoxicity. Here we evaluate the safety of low-volume spray of chemicals on rice plants. The plants were sprayed with propiconazole emulsifiable concentrate (EC) at 250 g/L mixed with various adjuvants and applied at a low volume, which contained the fungicide at concentrations equivalent to or higher than that used in UAV application. The spray adjuvants included YS-20, Biaopu adjuvant, TriTek, Yipinsongzhi, AgriSolv-C100, and Hongyuyan. Potential phytotoxicity on rice plants was examined based on surface tension and crop growth. Additives suitable for a low-volume spray of propiconazole were also assessed on three rice varieties for phytotoxicity. The results showed that after 72 h of fungicide application at 2, 4, and 8 times the recommended dose of 7500 μg/mL for UAV spray, rice leaves exhibited abnormal growth, and the dry weight of rice significantly decreased 21 days after application. Phytotoxicity was evaluated on three rice varieties 5 days after spraying propiconazole EC at 2 × recommended dose with one of the spray adjuvants. The addition of 1% YS-20, Biaopu adjuvant, TriTek, and Yipinsongzhi significantly augmented the phytotoxicity. However, both AgriSolv-C100 and Hongyuyan significantly reduced the comprehensive index of phytotoxicity and, therefore, could be used for UAV applications.

Mycorrhizal fungi, a category of fungi that form symbiotic relationships with plant roots, can participate in the induction of plant disease resistance by secreting phosphatase enzymes. While extensive research exists on the mechanisms by which mycorrhizal fungi induce resistance, the specific contributions of phosphatases to these processes require further elucidation. This article reviews the spectrum of mycorrhizal fungi-induced resistance mechanisms and synthesizes a current understanding of how phosphatases mediate these effects, such as the induction of defense structures in plants, the negative regulation of plant immune responses, and the limitation of pathogen invasion and spread. It explores the role of phosphatases in the resistance induced by mycorrhizal fungi and provides prospective future research directions in this field.

Using dense global navigation satellite system data and brightness temperature data across the New Zealand and Australia regions, we tracked the propagation of traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs) associated with the 15 January 2022 Tonga volcanic eruptions. We identified two shock wave-related TIDs and two Lamb wave-related TIDs following the eruptions. The two shock wave-related TIDs, propagating with velocities of 724–750 and 445–471 m/s, respectively, were observed around New Zealand and Australia within a distance of 3500–6500 km from the eruptive center. These shock wave-related TIDs suffered severe attenuation during the propagation and disappeared more than 6500 km from the eruptive center. Based on the TEC data from the nearest ground-based receivers, we estimated the onset times of two main volcanic explosions at 04:20:54 UT ± 116 s and 04:24:37 UT ± 141 s, respectively. The two shock wave-related TIDs were most likely generated by these two main volcanic eruptions. The two Lamb wave-related TIDs propagated with velocities of 300–370 and 250 m/s in the near-field region. The Lamb wave-related TIDs experienced minimal attenuation during their long-distance propagation, with only a 0.17% decrease observed in the relative amplitudes of the Lamb wave-related TIDs from the near-field to far-field regions.

Abstract Introduction The relationship of lymphocyte to high‐density lipoprotein ratio (LHR) with depression remains uncertain. We aimed to evaluate the association between LHR and depression in US adults. Methods In this cross‐sectional study, a total of 4216 participants were enrolled from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2015–2018). Depressive symptoms were measured with the Patient Health Questionnaire‐9 (PHQ‐9). Participants were classified as having depression if PHQ‐9 scores were ≥10. Multiple logistic regression models were used to explore the relationship between the LHR and depression. Results Overall, the LHR was significantly associated with depression (per standard deviation increment; adjusted odds ratio (OR), 1.31; 95% confidence interval (CI) [1.14, 1.50]) after adjusted potential variables. Due to the misuse of antibiotics, there is an increasing emergence and spread of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria, leading to a human health crisis. To address clinical antibiotic resistance and prevent/control pathogenic microorganisms, the development of novel antibiotics is essential. This also offers a new approach to discovering valuable actinobacterial flora capable of producing natural bioactive products. In this study, we employed bioinformatics and macro-genome sequencing to collect 15 soil samples from three different locations in the Karamay Gobi region. First, we assessed the diversity of microorganisms in soil samples from different locations, analyzing the content of bacteria, archaea, actinomycetes, and fungi. The biodiversity of soil samples from outside the Gobi was found to be higher than that of soil samples from within and in the center of the Gobi. Second, through microbial interaction network analysis, we identified actinomycetes as the dominant group in the system. We have identified the top four antibiotic genes, such as Ecol_fabG_TRC, Efac_liaR_DAP, tetA (58), and macB, by CARD. These genes are associated with peptide antibiotics, disinfecting agents and antiseptics, tetracycline antibiotics, and macrolide antibiotics. In addition, we also obtained 40 other antibiotic-related genes through CARD alignment. Through in-depth analysis of desert soil samples, we identified several unstudied microbial species belonging to different families, including Erythrobacteriaceae, Solirubrobacterales, Thermoleophilaceae, Gaiellaceae, Nocardioidaceae, Actinomycetia, Egibacteraceae, and Acidimicrobiales. These species have the capability to produce peptide antibiotics, macrolide antibiotics, and tetracycline antibiotics, as well as disinfectants and preservatives. This study provides valuable theoretical support for future in-depth research.

Abstract Proteolysis‐targeting chimeras (PROTACs) are essential bifunctional molecules that target proteins of interest (POIs) for degradation by cellular ubiquitination machinery. Despite significant progress made in understanding PROTACs' functions, their therapeutic potential remains largely untapped. As a result of the success of highly flexible, scalable, and low‐cost mRNA therapies, as well as the advantages of the first generation of peptide PROTACs (p‐PROTACs), we present for the first time an engineering mRNA PROTACs (m‐PROTACs) strategy. This design combines von Hippel–Lindau (VHL) recruiting peptide encoding mRNA and POI‐binding peptide encoding mRNA to form m‐PROTAC and promote cellular POI degradation. We then performed proof‐of‐concept experiments using two m‐PROTACs targeting two cancer‐related proteins, estrogen receptor alpha and B‐cell lymphoma‐extra large protein. Our results demonstrated that m‐PROTACs could successfully degrade the POIs in different cell lines and more effectively inhibit cell proliferation than the traditional p‐PROTACs. Moreover, the in vivo experiment demonstrated that m‐PROTAC led to significant tumor regression in the 4T1 mouse xenograft model. This finding highlights the enormous potential of m‐PROTAC as a promising approach for targeted protein degradation therapy.

BackgroundBenefit finding (BF) is correlated with mental health and recovery, and its presence will contribute to the recovery of patients with mental disorders. Most of the current tools for assessing BF in patients with somatic disorders are not adequate for patients with mental disorders. The present study proposes to introduce the Benefit Finding Questionnaire for People with Mental Disorders and to validate its psychometric properties.MethodsThe Beaton translation model was used to translate and cross-culturally adjust the Japanese version of the Benefit Finding Questionnaire for People with Mental Disorders. A survey of 514 people with mental disorders was conducted from January 2022 to October 2022 using a general information questionnaire and a translated Chinese version of the Benefit Finding Questionnaire for People with Mental Disorders (BFQ-C) using a convenience sampling method. The quality of the questionnaire was examined in terms of item analysis, reliability, and validity.ResultsThe results of the item analysis showed that all items met the requirements. The interrater agreement of the BFQ-C was good, with an interrater agreement = 0.714; the values of the item-level content validity index ranged from 0.75 to 1.00; and the average of all item-level content validity index on the scale = 0.958. Exploratory factor analysis extracted three main factors "change in relationship with others," "change in spirituality," and "change in values and thinking styles"-and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 57.70%. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis were χ2/df of 2.194, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation of 0.075, and comparative fit index of 0.919, indicating that the model fitted well. The questionnaire had a Cronbach' alpha of 0.936, a split reliability of 0.956, and a retest reliability of 0.939.ConclusionThe BFQ-C demonstrated good reliability and validity, and can be used to assess the BF level of people with mental disorders (e.g., anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorders) in China.

A large substation confronts the risk of frequent tectonic earthquakes with a relatively high magnitude, thus it is necessary to analyze the seismic response of the site. To provide a reference for the seismic analysis of this substation, the seismic response of the substation site was investigated. Based on the Mohr–Coulomb elastic-plastic constitutive model, the finite element models of the soft soil site and engineering site were established, and the seismic responses of the soft soil site with and without backfill were analyzed. Subsequently, the effect of layered soil site on the acceleration amplification of various ground shocks was further studied, yielding the seismic acceleration amplification coefficients for soft soil site and engineering site. The results of the finite element model show that the seismic amplification factor of the soft soil site is 1.292. The seismic amplification factor of the engineering site varies under the action of simple harmonic wave, El Centro wave, and Kobe wave, with the amplification factors ranging from 1.092 to 1.405. Therefore, considering the effects of the spectral properties of seismic waves is essential for the seismic design.

Live streaming marketing has become a popular topic of academic research. However, relatively few studies have been conducted in terms of the physical attractiveness of streamers, and even fewer studies have analyzed the changes in cognitive-emotional mechanisms that affect consumer response behavior. Based on SOR theory and cognitive-emotional system theory, this study proposes a theoretical research model and analyzes the internal mechanism of streamers’ physical attractiveness affecting consumers’ response using a combination of eye-tracking experiments and questionnaires. The results showed that: compared to streamers with lower physical attractiveness, consumers pay longer attention to streamers and products with higher physical attractiveness, and their response behaviors (continued watching intention, continued engagement intention, and purchase intention) are more active; compared to consumers with low involvement, consumers with high involvement pay longer attention to the product and perceive the process for a longer period of time; and quasi-social interaction and the flow experience play the role of a chain mediator between streamers’ physical attractiveness and consumers’ response behaviors. This study not only has certain theoretical significance for expanding the applicable boundaries of the physical appearance halo effect, but also has important practical significance for live broadcasting e-commerce companies to effectively adopt visual marketing and enhance customer retention.

Abstract Purpose Liver metastasis is one of the most important factors affecting the prognosis of patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs). Transhepatic artery embolization (TAE) is the main local treatment of NENs with liver metastasis (NENLM). This study aimed to elucidate the differences between pancreatic and rectal NENLM with a discrepancy in blood supply. Methods A total of 32 patients with NENLM of different primary sites received 102 TAE treatments at our hospital. Clinical features, such as age, sex, World Health Organization (WHO) tumour grade and progression‐free survival (PFS), were compared between patients with pancreatic and rectal NENLM with different blood supplies. The total follow‐up time is 1–5 years. Results There were 12 cases with tumours originating from the rectum or pancreas, respectively. Other tumour‐originated sites included the duodenum (two cases, 6.25%), the thymus and lung (four cases, 12.5%), and the unknown (two cases, 6.25%). The average age of patients was 51.59 years, and 17 (53.1%) were men. WHO grade 1, 2 or 3 tumours occurred in three (9.4%), 23 (71.9%) and six (18.7%) patients, respectively. Hepatic tumour burdens of low (50%) levels were found in 13 (40.6%), eight (25%) and 11 (34.4%) patients, respectively. There were more patients with hypervascular pancreatic NENLM than with hypovascular rectal NENLM (p = 0.005). Tumour shrinkage in all cases with NENLM was 50% with an objective response rate of 37.5%, disease control rate of 75% and PFS of 12 months. Disease progression (p = 0.09), tumour shrinkage (p = 0.07) and death (p = 0.19) were more prominent in the pancreatic NENLM group than in the rectal NENLM group. Progression‐free survival was not reached in the pancreatic NENLM group, which was more prominent than in the rectal NENLM group (7 months; hazard ration, 0.22; 95% confidence interval, 0.07–0.76; p = 0.016). The main adverse events were abdominal pain (71.9%) and transaminase elevation (50%), which were more common in pancreatic NENLM than in rectal NENLM. Conclusions Transhepatic artery embolization treatment is markedly effective and safe for treating NENLM, especially pancreatic NENLM.

Abstract To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) solution treating the acute severe dermatitis in patients receiving radiotherapy. This phase I research enrolled patients with thoracic cancer receiving radiotherapy at Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute in Shandong, China. EGCG solution was sprayed to the radiation field when grade III radiation-induced dermatitis (RID) first appearance. EGCG concentration escalated from 660 to 2574 μmol/L using modified-Fibonacci dose-escalation. RID and related symptoms were followed up every day. Between March 2021 and November 2021, 19 patients were enrolled in this phase I research. The median dose of grade III RID first observation was 44 Gy (30.6–52 Gy). The Hetao irrigation region is located in Inner Mongolia, China, within a dry and semi-dry region. This region suffers from poor agricultural productivity and environmental damage due to the presence of saline soil. To explore the growth of salty lands using a more environmentally friendly method, this research employed three eco-conscious amendments to improve the soil. These include flue gas desulfurization gypsum (S), humic acid (H), and biochar (C). During a two-year study, the amendments were utilized to enhance the soil quality for planting sunflowers. Humic acid was used prior to every seedling season, whereas the remaining two substances were only used once. These additions increased the soil’s water-holding capacity, reduced soil salinity during sunflower growth, and improved the macroaggregate proportion. The most effective treatment for decreasing the soil’s salt content after the seedling stage was the application of humic acid (0.6 t ha−1). Biochar (15 t ha−1) decreased the soil’s bulk density (from 1.49 to 1.34 g cm−3) and mostly increased the sunflower seed yield up to 3133−3964 kg ha−1. Humic acid addition significantly increased the aggregate (>0.25 mm) content up to 27.88% after the experiment, but it led to a lower seed yield (2607−3686 kg ha−1). In 2019, the temperature was lower compared to 2018, which may have led to a reduction in the yield. However, these three amendments could potentially increase yields by more than conventional methods. These three environmentally friendly amendments are useful for improving saline soil and increasing yields. More studies are required to understand their impacts on larger areas and over extended periods.

Photocatalysis is one of the most promising pathways to relieve the environmental contamination caused by the rapid development of modern technology. In this work, we demonstrate a green manufacturing process for the 3D/3D rod-shaped bamboo charcoal/Bi2WO6 photocatalyst (210BC-BWO) by controlled carbonization temperature. A series of morphology characterization and properties investigations (XRD, SEM, UV–vis DRS, transient photocurrent response, N2 absorption-desorption isotherms) indicate a 210BC-BWO photocatalyst with higher charge separation efficiency, larger surface area, and better adsorption capacity. The excellent photocatalytic performance was evaluated by degrading rhodamine B (RhB) (98.5%), tetracycline hydrochloride (TC-HCl) (77.1%), and H2 evolution (2833 μmol·g−1·h−1) coupled with furfuryl alcohol oxidation (3097 μmol·g−1·h−1) under visible light irradiation. In addition, the possible mechanisms for degradation of organic pollutants, H2 evolution, and furfuryl alcohol oxidation were schematically investigated, which make it possible to exert photocatalysis by increasing the active radical. This study shows that the combination of bamboo charcoal and bismuth tungstate can be a powerful photocatalyst that rationally combines H2 evolution coupled with furfuryl alcohol oxidation and degradation of pollutants.

The global production landscape exhibits a substantial need for efficient and clean energy. Enhancing and advancing energy storage systems are a crucial avenue to optimize energy utilization and mitigate costs. Lithium batteries are the most effective and impressive energy utilization system at present, with good safety, high energy density, excellent cycle performance, and other advantages, occupying most of the market. However, due to the defects in the electrode material of the battery itself, the electrode will undergo the process of expansion, stress evolution, and electrode damage during electro-chemical cycling, which will degrade battery performance. Therefore, the detection of property changes in the electrode during electro-chemical cycling, such as the evolution of stress and the modulus change, are useful for preventing the degradation of lithium-ion batteries. This review presents a current overview of measurement systems applied to the performance detection of batteries’ electrodes, including the multi-beam optical stress sensor (MOSS) measurement system, the digital image correlation (DIC) measurement system, and the bending curvature measurement system (BCMS), which aims to highlight the measurement principles and advantages of the different systems, summarizes a part of the research methods by using each system, and discusses an effective way to improve the battery performance.

Abstract Background and purpose Conflicting reports of obesity paradox have led to confusion about weight management strategies for post-stroke patients. The main purpose of this study is to determine whether the obesity paradox measured by body mass index (BMI) or by waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) is real. Methods We evaluated the association of general obesity measured by BMI, and abdominal obesity measured by WHtR with 1-year all-cause mortality, recurrence of stroke and combined vascular events of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients in a cohort —— the Third China National Stroke Registry (CNSR-III). Cox proportional hazards models and restricted cubic splines were performed to investigate the association between obesity and clinical outcomes. Results A total of 14,146 patients with ischemic stroke were included. ObjectiveTonsillar squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) and second primary malignancies (SPMs) are the most common causes of mortality in patients with primary TSCC. However, the competing data on TSCC-specific death (TSD) or SPM-related death in patients with TSCC have not been evaluated. This study aimed to analyze the mortality patterns and formulate prediction models of mortality risk caused by TSCC and SPMs.MethodsData on patients with a first diagnosis of TSCC were extracted as the training cohort from the 18 registries comprising the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. A competing risk approach of cumulation incidence function was used to estimate cumulative incidence curves. Fine and gray proportional sub-distributed hazard model analyses were performed to investigate the risk factors of TSD and SPMs. A nomogram was developed to predict the 5- and 10-year risk probabilities of death caused by TSCC and SPMs. Moreover, data from the 22 registries of the SEER database were also extracted to validate the nomograms.ResultsIn the training cohort, we identified 14,530 patients with primary TSCC, with TSCC (46.84%) as the leading cause of death, followed by SPMs (26.86%) among all causes of death. In the proportion of SPMs, the lungs and bronchus (22.64%) were the most common sites for SPM-related deaths, followed by the larynx (9.99%), esophagus (8.46%), and Non-Melanoma skin (6.82%). Multivariate competing risk model showed that age, ethnicity, marital status, primary site, summary stage, radiotherapy, and surgery were independently associated with mortality caused by TSCC and SPMs. Such risk factors were selected to formulate prognostic nomograms. The nomograms showed preferable discrimination and calibration in both the training and validation cohorts.ConclusionPatients with primary TSCC have a high mortality risk of SPMs, and the competing risk nomogram has an ideal performance for predicting TSD and SPMs-related mortality. Routine follow-up care for TSCC survivors should be expanded to monitor SPMs.

Background The aim is to identify the factors influencing blood pressure variability in postmenopausal women based on the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS). Material and Methods The data on postmenopausal women between 1993 and 2015 were extracted from the CHNS. Group-based trajectory modeling was used to analyze the development track of blood pressure changes, based on which the subjects were separately divided into two groups for systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP). Univariate and multivariate analyzes were performed to analyze the factors influencing SBP and DBP. Results A total of 346 women were eligible for the study. Group-based trajectory modeling showed two different trajectories of blood pressure, including the low-level, slowly developed type and the high-level, rapidly developed, stable type of SBP, as well as the low-level, slowly developed type and the high-level, slowly developed type of DBP. In multivariate analysis, age (odds ratio [OR]: 1.118, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.082–1.156), body mass index (BMI) (OR: 2.239, 95%CI: 1.010–4.964), antihypertensive agents (OR: 7.293, 95%CI: 2.191–24.275), hip circumference (OR: 1.069, 95%CI: 1.014–1.128) and marital status (OR: 3.103, 95%CI: 1.028–9.361) were found to be the significant factors influencing SBP; age (OR: 1.067, 95%CI: 1.039–1.096), alcohol consumption (OR: 2.741, 95%CI: 1.169–6.429), antihypertensive agents (OR: 4.577, 95%CI: 1.553–13.492), hip circumference (OR: 1.093, 95%CI: 1.049–1.138), and marital status (OR: 3.615, 95%CI: 1.228–10.644) were the predominant factors influencing DBP. Conclusions In postmenopausal women, age, BMI, antihypertensive agents, hip circumference, and marital status are associated with SBP changes, while age, alcohol consumption, antihypertensive agents, hip circumference, and marital status with DBP variability. Pathogenic invasion of Trichoderma pleuroticola profoundly altered microflora in the Auricularia cornea crop production system, impacting diversity and composition in both artificial bed-log and fruiting bodies. A more complex ecological network between the diseased and healthy bodies. Researchers still have poor knowledge about how the important agricultural relationship between the composition of the microbiome of the artificial bed-log and the fruiting bodies is infected by the pathogenic invasive microbes T. pleuroticola, but this knowledge is crucial if we want to use or improve it. Here, we investigated 8 groups (48 biological samples) across 5 growth stages of the A. cornea production system using metagenomic technology. Diseased and healthy fruiting bodies exhibited distinct microbial compositions, while core members in artificial bed-logs remained stable. Core microbiota analysis highlighted Pseudomonas and Pandoraea bacterial genera, as well as Sarocladium, Cephalotrichum, Aspergillus, and Mortierella fungal genera as biomarker species after the bodies were treated with the pathogenic invasive microbes T. pleuroticola. In diseased bodies, these core members upregulated pathways including polymyxin resistance, L-arginine degradation II, superpathway of L-arginine and L-ornithine degradation, glucose degradation (oxidative), glucose and glucose-1-phosphate degradation, promoting fruit spoilage. Our data confirm that T. pleuroticola plays an important role in the early stages of disease development in the A. cornea crop generation system. The exposed volatile core microbiome may play an important role in accelerating T. pleuroticola-induced decay of fruiting bodies.

Due to the vulnerable ecosystem environments, plateau lakes in the southwest of China face high eutrophication risks. Excessive nitrogen input is an important driver of eutrophication in plateau lakes. However, it is lacked of accurate analysis of spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of nitrogen sources for plateau lakes, which restricts local water environment management. Taking a typical plateau lake, Erhai Lake, as an example, this study applied the MARINA (Model to Assess River Inputs of Nutrients to seAs)-Lakes model to 26 sub-basins of Erhai Lake to analyze the temporal (1998–2016) characteristics of nitrogen inputs and identify the main pollution sources in different sub-basins. The results showed that the most obvious decreasing trends in river export of nitrogen occurred in 2016. It decreased from 2.9 in 2010–2.3 Mg in 2016, which is associated with the series of water quality protection measures implemented. By distinguish nitrogen forms, we found that dissolved inorganic nitrogen was mainly from diffuse source (synthetic fertilizer) whereas point source (directly discharge of animal manure) was the dominant source for dissolved organic nitrogen. The highest river export of nitrogen was from Zhonghe sub-basin in the western areas with high population density and intensive agricultural system, and the lowest was from Mijuhe sub-basin in the northern areas. Tourism was the dominant source of river export of nitrogen in several sub-basins, including Zhonghe, Meitao, Haidongqin, Boluo, and Jinli. Our study developed an explicit spatial analysis approach to quantify river export of nitrogen by sources at sub-basin scale. Based on the primary sources of nitrogen within each sub-basin, we could divide Erhai Lake basin into different management zones. These results can not only help decision-makers formulate accurate and effective lake protection policies for Erhai Lake, but also provide new insights for other plateau lakes.

【Objective】The method of collecting standard sample data of high-quality rice was explored in order to build a standard sample database of high-quality rice varieties in Yunnan Province and provide technical support for authenticity identification, purification and rejuvenation of high-quality rice varieties.【Method】The seeds for production and the stock seeds of Yunhui 290 and Diantun 502 were used as research materials. The characteristics of high-quality rice varieties were comprehensively and completely described by using techniques such as variety agronomic character investigation, SSR molecular marker construction fingerprint, rice quality detection.【Result】Twelve pairs of core markers on 12 chromosomes of rice were used to collect the fingerprints of the seeds for production and the stock seeds. The results showed that there was no difference between the seeds for production and the stock seeds of Yunhui 290 and Diantun 502, which could be used to describe the fingerprints of Yunhui 290 and Diantun 502. 12 pairs of core markers were used to identify the genotype consistency of 48 individual plants randomly selected from the seeds for production and the stock seeds. The seeds for production and stock seeds of Yunhui 290 had the same amplification products in 12 markers, and there were no off-type. The band from the stock seeds of Diantun 502 were consistent, and there were no off-type. There were two markers with abnormal bands and two off-type in the seeds for production of Diantun 502. By using DUS test method, 17 DUS test characters and 4 plant parts pictures were collected, and 11 quality characters were collected according to the national high quality rice standard.【Conclusion】With variety fingerprint, DUS test character, plant part picture, quality character and commodity information as five elements of the database, the standard sample database of high quality rice is built by computer programming software. The establishment of the standard sample database of high-quality rice can systematically describe varieties from the gene level, variety characteristics and appearance.

Abstract Harvest agricultural products are perishable. If they cannot be sold, there will be serious grain loss and food waste. It is an important issue related to human sustainable development and urgent to address. As the most popular way of shopping, live shopping has achieved remarkable achievements, while the existing research is relatively silent on how to promote the sales of agricultural products in the context of live streams. Based on S–O–R theory and dual-system theory, three studies investigated the intrinsic mechanism of consumers’ impulse purchase intention (IPI) in live streams. The results show that scarcity promotion (SP) and cause-related events (CRE) are positively correlated with consumers’ IPI through arousal and moral elevation. Interestingly, when SP and CRE are presented at the same time, the impact of CRE on IPI is no longer significant. Overall, the proposed model could be used to predict consumers’ willingness and provide the choice of marketing strategy to promote the sale of agricultural products, which has significant theoretical and practical value.

Abstract Heterogeneous pathogenic stress can shape major histocompatibility complex (MHC) diversity by influencing the functional plasticity of the immune response. Therefore, MHC diversity could reflect environmental stress, demonstrating its importance in uncovering the mechanisms of adaptive genetic variation. In this study, we combined neutral microsatellite loci, an immune‐related MHC II‐DRB locus, and climatic factors to unravel the mechanisms affecting the diversity and genetic differentiation of MHC genes in the greater horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum), a species with a wide geographical distribution that has three distinct genetic lineages in China. First, increased genetic differentiation at the MHC locus among populations compared using microsatellites indicated diversifying selection. Second, the genetic differentiation of MHC and microsatellites were significantly correlated, suggesting that demographic processes exist. However, MHC genetic differentiation was significantly correlated with geographical distance among populations, even after controlling for the neutral markers, suggesting a major effect of selection. Third, although the MHC genetic differentiation was larger than that for microsatellites, there was no significant difference in the genetic differentiation between the two markers among genetic lineages, indicating the effect of balancing selection. Fourth, combined with climatic factors, MHC diversity and supertypes showed significant correlations with temperature and precipitation, but not with the phylogeographic structure of R. ferrumequinum, suggesting an effect of local adaptation driven by climate on MHC diversity. Moreover, the number of MHC supertypes varied between populations and lineages, suggesting regional characteristics and support for local adaptation. Taken together, the results of our study provide insights into the adaptive evolutionary driving forces at different geographic scales in R. ferrumequinum. In addition, climate factors may have played a vital role in driving adaptive evolution in this species.

For large-scale high-dimensional positioning scenes, the massive number of grid points brings challenges to the multi-target positioning algorithms based on compressed sensing. To cope with the challenges, a fast multi-target localization method based on direction of arrival is proposed. A compressed sensing model is constructed for multi-target localization based on the DOA sequence measured by positioning nodes. Then, a two-stage fast matching pursuit algorithm is presented for sparse reconstruction, which consists of preliminary estimation and supports rectification. A process similar to orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm is adopted to get preliminary estimate result, but no nonlinear operations is employed for complexity reduction. Then another iterative process is carried out to rectify the chosen supports in preliminary result sequentially. Simulation results verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method for multi-target localization.

Spinal cord injury (SCI), a prevalent and disabling neurological condition, prompts a growing interest in stem cell therapy as a promising avenue for treatment. Dental-derived stem cells, including dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED), stem cells from the apical papilla (SCAP), dental follicle stem cells (DFSCs), are of interest due to their accessibility, minimally invasive extraction, and robust differentiating capabilities. Research indicates their potential to differentiate into neural cells and promote SCI repair in animal models at both tissue and functional levels. This review explores the potential applications of dental-derived stem cells in SCI neural repair, covering stem cell transplantation, conditioned culture medium injection, bioengineered delivery systems, exosomes, extracellular vesicle treatments, and combined therapies. Assessing the clinical effectiveness of dental-derived stem cells in the treatment of SCI, further research is necessary. This includes investigating potential biological mechanisms and conducting Large-animal studies and clinical trials. It is also important to undertake more comprehensive comparisons, optimize the selection of dental-derived stem cell types, and implement a functionalized delivery system. These efforts will enhance the therapeutic potential of dental-derived stem cells for repairing SCI.

In the process of data transmission in mobile ad hoc networks, it is essential to establish optimal routes from source nodes to destination nodes. However, as network density increases, this process is often accompanied by a significant rise in network overhead. To address this issue, the ND-AODV (neighborhood density AODV) protocol has been introduced, which reduces the probability of transmitting control information in high-density node environments to mitigate network overhead. Nevertheless, this may come at the cost of reduced routing accuracy, potentially leading to unnecessary resource wastage in certain scenarios. Furthermore, ND-AODV does not comprehensively consider the location of the receiving nodes, which limits its ability to reduce network overhead effectively. To overcome these limitations, this paper introduces a novel routing approach, known as CND-AODV (common neighborhood density AODV). In comparison to ND-AODV, CND-AODV offers a more comprehensive solution to the challenges posed by high-density network environments. It intelligently processes control information based on the special positioning of the receiving nodes, thereby significantly reducing unnecessary network overhead. Through simulation experiments comparing performance metrics such as throughput, packet delivery rate, and latency, the results clearly indicate that CND-AODV substantially decreases network overhead, enhancing network performance. Compared to ND-AODV, this innovative routing approach exhibits significant advantages. It provides a more efficient and reliable solution for ad hoc networks in high-density environments.
