The present study aimed to investigate the association between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and HGI in middle-aged and elderly Chinese.Patients and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a multi-stage random sampling method was used to select objects from the permanent residents aged 35 years and above living in Ganzhou, Jiangxi, China. The demographic information, history of illness, physical examination, and blood biochemistry data were obtained. HGI was calculated from fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and HbA1c (HGI = measured HbA1c value - predicted HbA1c value). All participants were divided into low HGI and high HGI groups using the median HGI as a cut-off value. Univariate analysis was used to detect the influencing factors of HGI, and Logistic regression analysis was adopted to analyze the relationship between significant variables found in univariate analysis, MetS, or MetS’s components and HGI.Results: A total of 1826 participants were enrolled in the study, and the prevalence of MetS was 27.4%. There were 908 in the low HGI group and 918 in the high HGI group, and the prevalence of MetS was 23.7% and 31.0%, respectively. Logistic regression analysis showed that the prevalence of MetS in the high HGI group was higher than that in the low HGI group (OR=1.384, 95% CI:1.110~1.725), further analysis showed that HGI was related with abdominal obesity (OR=1.287, 95% CI:1.061~1.561), hypertension (OR=1.349, 95% CI:1.115~1.632), and hypercholesterolemia (OR=1.376, 95% CI:1.124~1.684) (all P < 0.05). After adjusting for age, sex, and serum uric acid (UA), the relationship still existed.Conclusion: This study found that HGI is directly associated with MetS.Keywords: hemoglobin glycation index, metabolic syndrome, cross-sectional study

Cumulative lipid profile burden is designed to dynamically measure lipid accumulation, and its effect on hypertension has been poorly studied. Our main purpose was to investigate the effect of cumulative lipid profile burden on the incidence of essential hypertension (EH) and. Secondly, to investigate whether there is a mediating role of cumulative lipid burden in the pathogenesis of the effects of diet and obesity on EH. A total of 1 295 participants were included in the study, which began in 2017. The average follow-up time was 2.98 years. A total of 240 EH patients occurred during the follow-up period. Compared with respective reference groups, the HR (95% CI) of the highest quartile in cumulative TC, TG and HDL burden were 1.747 (1.145 - 2.664), 1.502 (1.038 - 2.173), 0.615 (0.413 - 0.917) for incidence of EH. Participants with EH consumed more red meat and refined grains, and red meat was positively associated with cumulative TC burden . BMI and Waist-To-Height Ratio (WHtR) increased the incidence of EH, and obesity was positively correlated with cumulative TC burden. cumulative TC burden play a partially mediating role in the influence of obesity on EH (βindirect=0.0085, 95%CI: 0.0035, 0.1520). The cumulation TG, TC burden increased the risk of EH, while the cumulation HDL reduced the risk of EH. cumulative TG burden play a partially mediating role in the influence of obesity on EH. Diet was not found to influence hypertension through cumulative lipid profile burden.

With the development of the theory of multiple governance, the methods and methods of collaborative governance of multiple subjects have been widely used in the treatment of social problems and the subjects that solve the employment problem of the disabled are gradually diversifying. This study takes the Nuanxi Disabled Assistance Project in D City as an example, with the cooperation between social organizations and enterprises as an entry point of view. The study found that in the process of social enterprise cooperation to promote the employment of persons with disabilities, there are problems such as insufficient attention to details of cooperation, unstable employment of persons with disabilities, limited and single participation of social organizations, and unsatisfactory cooperation effects, and put forward perfect countermeasures and suggestions for these problems.

This multicenter prospective, randomized controlled clinical trial compared the clinical performance of supraglottic airway device (SAD) BlockBusterA total of 651 adult patients scheduled for elective surgery in 13 hospitals were randomly allocated into BlockBuster group (n = 351) or Supreme group (n = 300). The primary outcome was oropharyngeal leak pressure (OLP). Background. Ewing sarcoma (EWS) is the second most familiar bone or soft-tissue sarcoma, making the identification of EWS biomarkers critically important. This study aimed to explore and validate potential prognostic biomarkers in EWS by bioinformatics analysis and experiments. Methods The microarray dataset GSE119546 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between EWS cells treated with and without Cyclin-dependent kinase 9 (CDK9) inhibitors were analyzed using R package limma. Next, we performed gene enrichment analysis and constructed a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. The expression level of the top18 hub genes and the overall survival (OS) in patients with sarcoma were validated using the Oncomine and Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis 2 (GEPIA2) databases. Furthermore, the mRNA expression of Bystin Like (BYSL), Nucleolar Protein 11 (NOL11), and P21-activated protein kinase-interacting protein 1 (PAK1IP1) was detected by RT-PCR in the EWS cell line (A-673), and the protein expression in EWS tissue was verified by immunohistochemistry (IHC).Results Our study identified 343 DEGs, which were associated with various cancer-related functions and pathways. A total of three DEGs, including BYSL, NOL11, and PAK1IP1, were identified as hub genes with prognostic values using GEPAI2 and Oncomine. Finally, RT-PCR results showed the mRNA expression level of BYSL, NOL11, and PAK1IP1 in A-673 cells was higher than that in human mesenchymal stem cells. IHC staining revealed a positive expression ratio of NOL11, BYSL, and PAK1IP1 was 63.6% (14/22), 31.9% (7/22), and 0% (0/22), respectively. Cox regression analysis confirmed NOL11 was a significant prognostic factor for OS. Conclusions. Our findings revealed that NOL11 may be a potential biomarker for EWS prognosis and treatment.

Background: Systemic inflammatory response and nutritional status are closely related to tumor development, and both have been recognized as predictors of tumors. Our study investigated the effect on the prognosis of osteosarcoma by analyzing the ratio of lymphocytes to C-reactive protein (LCR) before surgery.Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with osteosarcoma and underwent surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from 2012 to 2019 were included in this retrospective study. The albumin (g/L) +5 × total lymphocyte count (PNI), neutrophil/lymphocyte count (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte count (PLR) and platelet × neutrophil/lymphocyte count (SII) were calculated from preoperative peripheral white blood cells, C-reactive protein and serum albumin. The optimal cutoff values of LCR, PNI, NLR, PLR and SII were determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. According to the Optimal cutoff values, LCR, PNI, NLR, PLR and SII were divided into high and low groups. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to compare the overall survival (OS) between the high and low LCR groups. Univariate analysis was used to determine the influence of age, gender, tumor size, Enneking stage and neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the prognosis of osteosarcoma.The independent predictors of OS were determined by Cox multivariate analysis.Results: The optimal cutoff values for LCR, PNI, NLR, PLR and SII were 0.093, 48.4, 1.23, 157.03 and 314.27, respectively. A low preoperative LCR was significantly correlated with tumor metastasis, stage, NLR, PLR and SII. However, a low preoperative PNI was significantly associated with tumor metastasis, stage, and PLR.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis indicated that the postoperative OS was significantly correlated with preoperative LCR and PNI (P < 0.05). Univariate analysis showed that Enneking stage, metastasis and preoperative LCR, PNI, NLR, PLR and SII were important factors affecting OS (P < 0.05). For multivariate analysis, the results revealed that the preoperative LCR (HR, 0.401; 95% CI, 0.199-0.807; P = 0.01) and Enneking stage (HR, 2.717; 95%CI, 1.067-6.919; P = 0.036) is an independent prognostic factor affecting the postoperative OS of osteosarcoma.Conclusions: The high preoperative LCR is strongly associated with longer survival time in patients with osteosarcoma. Enneking stage and preoperative LCR may be important parameters for the prognosis of osteosarcoma.

The aim of this paper was to investigate the effect of emodin on gut microbiota in acute kidney injury rats( AKI). Rats were randomly divided into several groups: normal group,model group,low-dose of emodin group( 10 mg·kg~(-1)),medium-dose of emodin group( 25 mg·kg~(-1)),high-dose of emodin group( 50 mg·kg~(-1)) and control group( 5 mg·kg~(-1) of benazepril hydrochloride).The AKI model rats were established by intraperitoneal injection of small dose of gentamicin sulfate for 7 days. Two hours after intraperitoneal injection,except for the normal group and the model group,the other groups were given corresponding doses of drugs for 15 days. The serum levels of serum creatinine( SCr),urea nitrogen( BUN),plasma endotoxin level,24 h urinary protein and D-lactate in the plasma were determined by sarcosine oxidase,urease method,tal reagent method,bromo cresol chloroform method and double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay,respectively. Gut microbial communities were assayed by fluorescent quantitative PCR methods. HE staining was used to detect the pathological changes of the kidneys. Compared with the normal group,there were significant differences in body weight,urinary protein( UTP),bacterial endotoxin,urea nitrogen,creatinine,D-lactate in the plasma and four bacterial contents in the model group( P0. 05). The urinary protein,urea nitrogen,D-lactate,creatinine and plasma bacterial endotoxin in control group and each emodin group were lower than those in model group,especially for high-dose of emodin( P0. 01). Moreover,pathology resolution in high-dose emodin was better than other groups. Except for low-dose of emodin group,qRT-PCR data suggested that the amounts of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus in medication administration group were increased,while the amounts of Lactobacilli and Bifidobacterium were reduced compared with model group( P0. 05),especially for high-dose of emodin( P0. 01). There is a clear imbalance of gut microbiota in rats with AKI. Emodin could regulate the imbalance of gut microbiota,which might be one of the mechanisms of its effects on AKI rats.

A novel series of melatonin-derived benzylpyridinium bromides have been designed, synthesized, and evaluated as multi-functional anti-AD agents with cholinesterase inhibitory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective activities. In vitro studies showed that most of these compounds exhibited potent inhibitory activity toward h-AChE and h-BuChE, and good antioxidant capacity in the ORAC assay. In particular, compound 19 was the most attractive derivative, showing the highest potency to inhibit ChEs (AChE: IC₅₀ = 0.11 μM; BuChE: IC₅₀ = 1.1 μM) and good antioxidant ability (ORAC (trolox) = 3.41). Kinetic and molecular modeling studies indicated that 19 was a mixed-type inhibitor, binding simultaneously to active and peripheral sites of AChE. Moreover, 19 also showed good neuroprotective effects in human SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. Taken together, these results suggested that compound 19 might be a promising multi-target drug candidate worthy of further pursuit.

A series of hydroxychalcone derivatives have been designed, synthesized and evaluated for human xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitory activity. Most of the tested compounds acted moderate XO inhibition with IC50 values in the micromolar rang. Molecular docking and kinetic studies have been performed to explain the binding modes of XO with the selected compounds. In addition, in vitro antioxidant screening results indicated that some of the hydroxychalcones possessed good anti-free radical activities. Furthermore, the preferred compounds 16 and 18 were able to significantly inhibit hepatic xanthine oxidase activity and reduced serum uric acid level of hyperuricemic mice in vivo. In summary, compounds 16 and 18 with balanced activities of antioxidant, XO inhibition and serum uric acid reduction, which are promising candidates for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout.

Objective: To evaluate the peripheral nerve regeneration using a nerve conduit of amniotic extracellular matrix (AECM). Methods: 5 mm gap in the rabbit facial nerve was repaired with AECM conduit or with a silica gel conduit. After 7 days, 1 month and 3 months, the medullated nerve fibers and neural conductive velocity were determined. Results: On the 7th day, no neural regeneration was observed. But the neoformative neural fibers across AECM and silica gel were seen in the following 3 months, while the number and conductive velocity of medullated nerve fibers varied significantly at the different time points. Conclusion: AECM could repair the peripheral nerve defect.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of amniotic extracellular matrix (AECM) on the repairation of facial nerve in rabbits. Methods: The transected nerve ends of the facial nerves of rabbits were then repaired with the AECM nerve conduit or an autologous nerve graft. After 3 months, the animals’ neural conductive velocity were determined. The myelinated fibers across the specimen were counted with histological examination. Results: The total count of medullated nerve fibers varied significantly, but the nerve conduction velocity had no significance between the AECM grafts and the autologous nerve grafts. Conclusion: AECM could become the biocompatible material for repairing the peripheral nerves.

In the present investigation, four titanium (Ti) surfaces of dental implants were compared through in vitro systems. The surface roughness of Ti was measured by TR240 mobile surface roughmeter. The Ti implants were seeded with human periodontal ligament cells (hPLDCs) and maintained for a period of 0-7 days. The adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation of hPLDCs were observed by using Cell morphology, cell counting and Osteocalcin (OC) immunofluorescent staining. Results suggest that surface roughness of titanium favors hPDLCs behavior and improves cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation.

For dental/orthopedic implants to achieve better bone apposition and bone-implant bonding, various approaches to improve titanium surfaces have been developed. Recently, a fluoridated hydroxyapatite (FHA) coating on titanium (Ti) implants was made by sol–gel method and shown to be a possible applicative bone implant. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate biological responses and biomechanical bonding strength of FHA coated Ti implants as compared with that of the conventional Ti alloys and hydroxyapatite (HA) coated Ti implants. In vitro assays were made using human osteoblast-like cell (MG63) culture on different implants with cell attachment, morphology and differentiation evaluations. The implant plates were also implanted into the proximal metaphysis of New Zealand White rabbit tibiae. After 8 and 16 weeks implantation, mechanical and histological assessments were performed to evaluate biomechanical and biological behavior in vivo. Vector Quantization is an important tool of speaker identification system. In this paper, we introduce a new speaker identification system based on improved VQ algorithm，which takes the code vectors in traditional algorithm and those standard deviation as a new codebook to represent the particular speaker model in training phase.Based on the standard deviation.we redefine a weigthed distortion which are able to reflect the sample distribution character of each code vector .Experimental results show that the identification rate and robustness of this method is better than the one of the reference method.

It was reported that the symptoms of tumor patients may be alleviated markedly and even the tumor may be regressed completely after acute infection. Bacterin OK-432 has notable inhibitory effect on the growth of various tumors in animals. At present, OK-432 has been used in clinical immunotherapy for tumors with no other adverse events besides fever and leucocytosis. This study was to investigate the effects of combined bacterin on the serum level of interleukin 12(p70)[IL-12(p70)] and the growth of sarcoma 180 (S180) in mice.After transplantation of S180, the mice were randomized into 5 groups, and received injection of Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Mycobacteria phlei, and combined bacterin containing the 3 bacteria strains, respectively, or received no treatment (blank control). The weight of S180 xenografts, the thymus, and the spleen in mice was measured. The serum level of IL-12(p70) was detected by ELISA.The mean weight of S180 tumors was 1.39 g in Staphylococcus aureus group, 1.50 g in Salmonella typhimurium group, 1.36 g in Mycobacteria phlei group, 0.62 g in combined bacterin group, and 2.40 g in blank control group; the differences among the 5 groups were significant (F=66.73, P0.001). The mean weight of S180 tumors was significantly lower in the 4 bacterin groups than in control group, and significantly lower in combined bacterin group than in the 3 single bacterin groups (q test, P0.001). The weights of the thymus and the spleen among the 5 groups had no significant difference (F=2.36, P0.05; F=1.89, P0.05). The inhibition rate of tumor growth was significantly higher in combined bacterin group than in Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, and Mycobacteria phlei groups (74.17% vs. 42.08%, 37.50%, and 43.33%, P0.01). The mean serum level of IL-12(p70) was 19.44 pg/ml in combined bacterin group, 12.41 pg/ml in Staphylococcus aureus group, 10.35 pg/ml in Salmonella typhimurium group, 11.68 pg/ml in Mycobacteria phlei group, and 4.45 pg/ml in control group; the difference among the 5 groups was significant (F=15.76, P0.0001), but the difference among the 3 single bacterin groups was not significant (q test, P0.05), while the differences between other groups were significant (q test, P0.01).The chosen bacterins in this study can induce the mice to produce IL-12(p70) and suppress the growth of S180. The effect of the combined bacterin is much better than the single bacterins.
