As a highly efficient anticancer agent, doxorubicin (DOX) is used for treatment of various cancers, but DOX-induced oxidative damages contribute to a degenerative irreversible cardiac toxicity. Saikosaponin D (SSD), which is a triterpenoid saponin with many biological activities including anti-inflammatory effects and antioxidant properties, provides protection against pathologic cardiac remodeling and fibrosis. In the present study, we investigated the work of SSD for DOX-induced cardiotoxicity and the involved mechanisms. We observed that DOX injection induced cardiac injury and malfunction and decreased survival rate. Besides, DOX treatment increased lactate dehydrogenase leakage, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, and myocardium fibrosis and decreased the size of cardiomyocytes. Meanwhile, all the effects were notably attenuated by SSD treatment. In vitro, we found that 1 μM SSD could enhance the proliferation of H9c2 cells and inhibit DOX-induced apoptosis. It was found that the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and reactive oxygen species were significantly reduced by improving the activities of the endogenous antioxidative enzymes including catalase and glutathione peroxidase. Furthermore, SSD treatment could downregulate the DOX-induced p38 phosphorylation. Our results suggested that SSD efficiently protected the cardiomyocytes from DOX-induced cardiotoxicity by inhibiting the excessive oxidative stress via p38-MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase, MAPK) signaling pathway.

A novel phenomenon of spontaneous positive exchange bias (PEB) is reported in SrFeO3−x/SrCoO3−x epitaxial bilayer without undergoing any magnetic field treatment. When inserting a thick SrTiO3 (STO) nonmagnetic spacer (about 6 nm) into the bilayer interface, this phenomenon still exists. Based on a series of testing means, the spontaneous PEB effect is supposed to be mainly related to short-range ferromagnetic (FM) exchange coupling at the interface when there is no STO spacer. As the STO interlayer reaches up to a certain thickness, short-range coupling interaction basically disappears. At this time, the long-range dipole field may be responsible for the coupling of the FM and antiferromagnetic (AFM) layer across the nonmagnetic STO and then leads to the same bias effect. Our discoveries provide a new way to realize and manipulate spontaneous exchange bias-based spintronics devices, such as magnetic recording heads and spin valves.

To explore the synergistic immunomodulatory mechanism of interferon alpha-1b, interleukin-2 and thalidomide (ITI) regimen on patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).Sixty eight untreated de novo or relapsed or refractory or maintenance therapy patients with AML admitted in the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhengzhou University and the other 11 medical units from March 2016 to May 2019 were treated with ITI regimen. International audience; As shown in Deza et al. [4], for a periodic review Assemble-To-Order (ATO) system that aims to maximize reward, lowering the degree of component commonality may yield a higher Type-II service level. This is achieved via separating inventories of all the shared components for different products. We further study the optimal bill-ofmaterials (BOM) structure for two-product ATO systems with arbitrary number of components. The inventory of a common component can be dedicated or shared between different products. We show that an optimal BOM can be found between the following two extremal configurations: either two products share all common components, or they do not share any common component.

A new antibacterial acellular dermal matrix (AADM) dressing can not only resist infection, but also accelerate wound healing. AADM was prepared by SDS (0.40%), trypsin (0.40%) and keratin (0.30%), and then cross-linked with carboxymethyl chitosan (1%) with glutaraldehyde, whose tensile strength (MPa) is 10.66, thickness (mm), 0.53, the rate of permeable steam (g • m-2 • 24h-1), 3640, porosity (%), 81, degradation time in vitro (h), 24.33, pH, 6.5, and the average inhibition rate, more than 70%. At the same time, scanning electron microscopy showed that the structure of AADM was evacuated and the pores were interconnected. On such basis, a conclusion was drawn: the properties of AADM has been sharply increased, compared with acellular dermal matrix, which cannot resist infection, and the new antibacterial acellular dermal matrix completely meets the clinical requirements for burn dressings.

Molecular dynamics simulations were carried out to explore a e-CL-20/HMX (2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexazaisowurtzitane/1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7- tetrazacyclooctane) co-crystal-based polymer-bonded explosive (PBX) with HTPB (hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene). The binding energies, pair correlation functions, and mechanical properties of the PBXs were reported. From the calculated binding energy, it was found that the order of the binding energies per unit surface between the crystalline surface and HTPB is (0 1 0) > (1 0 0) > (0 0 1). The pair correlation function revealed that the H···O and H···N H-bonds exist on the interfaces between the crystalline surfaces and HTPB, and the number of H∙∙∙O hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) atom pairs is ten times more than that of H∙∙∙N H-bonds. Additionally, the calculated mechanical data indicated that the stiffness of the co-crystal/HTPB PBX is weaker and its ductility is better than those of the co-crystal.

As-cast Al-Sc alloys and Zr-containing Al-Sc-Zr alloys were aged at 300°C for different times, the Al-Sc-Zr alloy showed more excellent precipitation strengthening. The atom probe tomography (APT) was applied to characterize the precipitates in the two alloys, the results show that the precipitates in Al-Sc-Zr alloy is smaller in size and is higher in number density than that in the Al-Sc alloy at same aging time, it is because that the Zr addition reduces the diffusion rate of Sc, and which retains the growth of precipitates and results in the excellent precipitation strengthening of Al-Sc-Zr alloy.

Fe–1.0Cu (at%) and Fe–1.2Cu–2.2Mn alloys aged at 450 °C for 0.25 h, 1 h, 2 h, and 16 h after solution treatment at 900 °C for 2 h are investigated to reveal the role of the addition of Mn on the Cu precipitates in Fe–Cu based alloys. Density functional theory (DFT) total energy calculations on point defects and their influence on Cu precipitates are also performed to understand the nucleation and growth of Cu precipitates. Experiments show that addition of Mn can slightly increase the aging peak hardness by 10 HV; by using atom probe tomography (APT) and optical microscopy, we identify that the increase in hardness derives from both grain refinement and the increase of number density of precipitates. DFT calculations show that Mn increases the formation possibility of Frenkel pairs, i.e., atomic vacancy and self-interstitial atoms, and these two types of defects both serve as nucleation sites of Cu precipitates, resulting in the increase of the nucleation centers number density, which is consistent with our APT experiments on the very initial stage of aging. Moreover, calculated results show that Mn increases the density of atomic vacancies and promotes the evolution rate of Cu precipitates, which accounts for our APT experiments where precipitates in Fe–Cu–Mn grow more quickly than in Fe–Cu. Finally, we also discuss the relationship between Mn content in reactor pressure vessel steels and its irradiation damage effects.

To investigate the relationship of Ki-67 level with clinical features, immunophenotype, gene mutation, curative efficacy and prognosis in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL).Flow cytometry gated at CD45/SSC was used to detect the expression of Ki-67, and the correlation of Ki-67 expression with clinical manifestation, laboratorial indexes, curative efficacy and prognosis was analysed.Ki-67 expression level increased in ALL patients, the median expression rate was 29.22%, there was significant difference as compared with the healthy control (P0.01). In adult ALL, the median expression rate of Ki-67 in the high-risk group was 31.49%, and the difference was statistically significant as compared with the low-risk group (P0.05). In children ALL, the median expression rate of Ki-67 in high-risk group was 42.28%, and the difference was statistically significant (P0.05). The results of unvariate analysis showed that the age, WBC count at newly diagnosed and extramedullary invasion were adverse factors affecting OS and DFS; the results of multivariate analysis showed that age and extramedullary invasion were independent risk factors for OS and DFS in patients.Age≥14 years old, intramedullary invasion are the poor factors for prognosis; the Ki-67 level is not an independent factor for the prognosis of patients.

Akcay and Xu (Manag Sci 50(1):99–116, 2004) studied a periodic review assemble-to-order (ATO) system with an independent base stock policy and a first-come-first-served allocation rule, where the base stock levels and the component allocation are optimized jointly. The formulation is non-convex and, thus theoretically and computationally challenging. In their computational experiments, Akcay and Xu (Manag Sci 50(1):99–116, 2004) modified the right hand side of the inventory availability constraints by substituting linear functions for piece-wise linear ones. This modification may have a significant impact for low budget levels. The optimal solutions obtained via the original formulation; that is, without the modification, include zero base stock levels for some components and indicate consequently a bias against component commonality. We study the impact of component commonality on ATO systems. We show that lowering component commonality may yield a higher type-II service level. The lower degree of component commonality is achieved via separating inventories of the same component for different products. We substantiate this property via computational and theoretical approaches. We show that for low budget levels the use of separate inventories of the same component for different products could achieve a higher reward than with shared inventories. Finally, considering a simple ATO system consisting of one component shared by two products, we characterize the budget ranges such that the use of separate inventories is beneficial, as well as the budget ranges such that component commonality is beneficial.

Lagerstroemia spp. (crape myrtles) are popular woody ornamental flowering shrubs and trees distributed throughout temperate regions worldwide. In China, crape myrtles, especially the species L. indica , have been cultivated for nearly 1700 years, and germplasm resources are extensive. Therefore, investigating crape myrtle germplasm and their genetic diversity would assist international cultivar identification and breeding programs. Analysis of SSRs (Simple Sequence Repeats, also known as microsatellites) is currently the preferred method for the identification and determination of genetic relationships. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate SSRs in crape myrtles as well as to evaluate genetic diversity and to perform fingerprinting analysis. Thirty-nine SSRs were isolated from enriched genomic libraries of L. indica . Primers were designed for 33 loci, 12 of which were polymorphic among 50 crape myrtle cultivars. In addition, we evaluated 14 SSRs from Lagerstroemia caudata . A total of 151 alleles were detected, and the average number of alleles per locus was 5.8. The observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.10 to 0.84, with a mean of 0.42 per locus. The average polymorphic information content (PIC) value and genetic similarity coefficient were 0.48 and 0.39, respectively, indicating wide genetic variation among all crape myrtle cultivars. Using the 26 SSRs above, all cultivars can be unambiguously identified and separated into two distinct groups. These newly developed SSRs can be efficiently used for crape myrtle genetic diversity assessment, DNA fingerprinting, and molecular breeding.

Anaerobic co-digestion of dairy manure, chicken manure with corn stalks were investigated at 15, 35 and 55 °C. Two trials were carried out, one based on co-digestion of dairy or chicken manure alone with corn stalks at ratios of 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1, the other based on co-digestion of dairy and chicken manure together with corn stalks on the premise of the optimal ratio between manure and stalks. In the first trial, the analysis based on the biogas and methane yields showed that co-digestion of dairy or chicken manure with corn stalks at 2:1 both had higher fermentabilities than other ratios. In the second trial, at 15 °C and 35 °C, various ratios of co-digestion of dairy and chicken manure together with corn stalks were all higher than co-digestion of two kinds of manure alone with corn stalks and maximum biogas and methane yields were obtained at the C/N ratios from 25 to 28. At 55 °C, only at the mixture ratios of 1.6:0.4:1, co-digestion of dairy and chicken manure together with corn stalks were higher than co-digestion of dairy manure with corn stalks, indicating the optimal C/N ratios from 28 to 30 in biogas and methane production. Based on regression analysis, maximum biogas and methane yields were found at 49.9 °C and 46.9 °C with the ratios of dairy, chicken manure and corn stalks at 1.14:0.86:1 and 0.74:1.26:1, respectively.

The carbonitrides precipitates in Nb-V micro-alloyed steels were investigated by 3DAP. Much difference in the composition and size of the precipitates were observed. It is proposed that the carbon atoms segregated first at the dislocation or vacancy, and the vanadium and niobium atoms diffused to these sites to form the V-C, V-Nb-C clusters, leading to the formation of (Nb,V)C complex phase. The composition becomes inhomogeneity as the precipitates grow up.

A simple and sensitive fluorescence enhancement assay of trace cysteine (Cys) is presented. The method is based on the redox reaction between the Cu2+-morin complex and Cys. In Britton-Robinson buffer of pH 7.4, the addition of Cys to the Cu2+-morin system results in dramatic fluorescence intensity increase at 539 nm which is proportional to the concentration of Cys over the range of 6.52 × 10−7–2.20 × 10−5 mol L−1, with a limit of detection of 6.52 × 10−8 mol L−1. The method was applied to determine Cys in protein hydrolysate of fresh porcine blood and human urine, the recoveries being 91.3–94.1% and 95–98.6% respectively. The mechanism involved in the reaction was also studied.

Considering the difference between actors' fee, this paper constructed the model of movie talent scheduling problem to minimize the total costs of talents. According to the characteristic of the problem, this paper applies the genetic algorithm with elitist strategy and the discrete particle swarm optimization algorithm which combined genetic operations and can adjust the inertia weight dynamically to work out this problem in different sizes. Experimental results show that, the genetic algorithm with elitist strategy can obtain a better solution when the problem size is small, while the discrete particle swarm optimization is more efficient for the large scale problems.

To detect the changes of naive T cell level of thymic recent output at different stages of treatment in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), thereby to evaluate the relationship of thymic recent output function with prognosis and the impact of chemotherapy on the potential of immunological recovery.The levels of T-cell receptor rearrangement excision circles (TREC) in DNA of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMNC) from 30 DLBCL patients were monitored before, during, until 3 months and 6 months after chemotherapy by real-time PCR (TaqMan), and TREC-level was detected according to the number of CD3 positive(CD3(+)) cells. Twelve normal individuals who matched in age were served as controls.There was a dramatic reduction of TREC values in all DLBCL patients among which TREC values in germinal center B-cell-like-DLBCL (GCB-DLBCL) were higher than those in non-GCB-DLBCL, as compared with TREC values of normal individual in peripheral blood. The mean values of TREC were 0.91 ± 0.15/1000 PBMNCs and (1.22 ± 0.69)/1000 CD3(+) cells in GCB-DLBCL, (0.43 ± 0.29)/1000 PBMNCs and (0.64 ± 0.44)/1000 CD3(+) cells in non-GCB-DLBCL before chemotherapy. TREC values were significantly associated with lower international prognostic index (IPI) grade (r = -0.441, P = 0.015). TREC-level in DLBCL patients was further decreased after chemotherapy, and reached to the lowest level after the 6th cycle of chemotherapy, and during the corresponding period, the mean values of TREC were (0.63 ± 0.34)/1000 PBMNCs and (0.89 ± 0.65)/1000 CD3(+)cells in GCB-DLBCL, (0.19 ± 0.11)/1000 PBMNCs and (0.27 ± 0.25)/1000 CD3(+) cells in non-GCB-DLBCL. TREC-level began to rise obviously 3 months after the last cycle of chemotherapy in most of the DLBCL patients, and came close to normal level in five cases of patients 6 months after the last cycle of chemotherapy.Thymic recent output function was impaired severely in DLBCL patients. There was an important relationship between thymic recent output function before chemotherapy and prognosis, and chemotherapy had influenced the potential of immunological recovery.

To investigate expression and clinical significance of VEGF and apoptosis in frozen-thawed mouse ovaries after transplantation.Ovaries from B6C2F1 (C57BL/6j x BALB/c) 4 week old mice were cryopreservation and the thawed ovaries were xenografted into kidney capsules of 8-12 week old adult male mice. The grafted were recovered 1 d, 2 d and 7 d after transplantation respectively, the grafts and frozen-thawed were removed for follicle counting and immunohistochemically, ultrastructure, and detection of the mRNA expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF).The follicle numbers were decreased gradually after transplantation,the cell apoptosis increased especially in 48 h after transplantation. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed the tissue damaged was severest 48 h after transplantation; the expression of VEGF increased after transplantation, peaked on day 7, the mRNA expression of VEGF120 and VEGF188 was more on 48 h after transplantation, decreased on day 7 (P0.05).The number of follicles was decreased after transplantation, the apoptosis index was increased especially in 48 h after transplantation; the expression of VEGF increased after transplantation, an increase in the VEGF188 and VEGF164 isoform might suggest the positive effect in the early stages of angiogenesis.
