Low Pressure Die Casting (LPDC) is widely used in crankcase production. Owing to the unstable production situation and the complex shape of crankcase, porosity defect usually occurs in LPDC process which leads to loss in quality and productivity. In this paper, we apply data mining methods to predict the porosity defect in advance, so that we can take actions to prevent it from reoccurring in the next production part, thereby increasing the quality and productivity. To do it, firstly, we collect production data from a real-world casting line. Secondly, we prepare the data for prediction by feature extraction and feature selection. Thirdly, we apply an ensemble algorithm named Forest of Local Trees (FLT) for defect prediction. Finally, we present a thorough experimental study of the proposed method. The results show that our method outperforms other five algorithms on five real-world datasets in terms of three indicators, recall, precision and F-measure.

BACKGROUND AND AIM Remimazolam tosilate (RT) is a new short-acting GABA(A) receptor agonist, having potential to be an effective option for procedural sedation. Here, we aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of RT with propofol in patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. METHODS This positive-controlled, non-inferiority, phase III trial recruited patients at 17 centers, between September 2017 and November 2017. A total of 384 patients scheduled to undergo upper gastrointestinal endoscopy were randomly assigned to receive RT or propofol. Primary endpoint was the success rate of sedation. Adverse events (AEs) were recorded to evaluate safety. RESULTS The success rate of sedation in the RT group was non-inferior to that in the propofol group (97.34% vs 100.00%; difference in rate -2.66%, 95% CI -4.96 to -0.36, meeting criteria for non-inferiority). The safety of occupational exposure to inhaled anesthetics remains a concern among the medical staff in hospitals. Few reports are seen about the impact of inhaled anesthetics on the reproductive system, particularly that of males. Several clinical and basic studies on isoflurane and others suggest that inhaled anesthetics affect the reproductive system of rodents by decreasing the sperm count, inducing sperm morphological abnormality, reducing sperm motility, and changing the levels of reproductive hormones, the underlying mechanisms of which are mainly associated with the alteration of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis and DNA damage and apoptosis of reproductive cells. This paper presents recent progress in our laboratory on the interaction of Ru(II)/Co(III) polypyridine complexes with DNA. The first part describes the effect on DNA binding of modulating the intercalative ligand and the size of the ancillary ligand of the complex. DNA binding modes and binding affinity can be modulated by ligand design. The second part focuses on the enantioselective DNA binding behavior of the Ru(II) complexes using absorption spectra, emission spectra, viscosity measurements, equilibrium dialysis and CD titrations. The enantiomers of the various Ru(II) complexes show diverse enantioselectivity on binding to DNA. Different equilibrium rates were observed for the enantiomers of the complex in a time-dependent dialysis experiment. The interesting effect of the “molecular switch” for DNA was observed for several Ru(II) complexes. Their DNA binding properties, together with the possible mechanism involved in the effect, are discussed in the last part.

A new asymmetric bridge ligand, pytp, was prepared and characterized systematically by f.t.i.r., u.v.–vis., 1H-n.m.r. and by FAB-MS spectroscopy. A tetranuclear CuII complex [Cu4(pytp)2(SO4)2(H2O)10](SO4)2·4H2O (1) was prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and u.v.–vis. spectroscopy. A crystal structure analysis indicates that there are two different coordination spheres in (1) and that two of the copper centers are bridged by two μ2-SO4 entities, creating a most unusual sulphate bridge.

A series of polypyridyl complexes have been synthesized. All polypyridyl complexes and some of the soluble ligands have been assayed for antitumor activity in vitro against the HL-60 (the human leucocytoma) cells, BEL-7402 (the human liver carcinoma) cells, KB (the human nasopharyngeal carcinoma) cells and HELA (the human adenocarcinoma of cervix) cells. The results indicate that several complexes have relative activity against different cell lines. Especially, the complexes [Co(bpy)2(pip)]3+, [Co(phen)2(pip)]3+, [Ru(bpy)2(pztp)]2+ and [Ru(pztp)2(bpy)]2+ show relative high activity against four tumor cell lines. Moreover, they are slightly more effective than cisplatin. At the concentration of 100 μg/mL, the complexes show inhibitory rate of 72∼86% for the cancer cells and have no toxicity for MDCK and Vero cells. It is indicated that these complexes can inhibit cancer cells selectively.

A novel asymmetric ligand 3-(pyrazin-2-yl)-as-triazino[5,6-f ]1,10-phenanthroline (pztp) and its mono- and bi-nuclear complexes [Ru(bpy)2(pztp)]2+ 1 and [(bpy)2Ru(pztp)Ru(bpy)2]4+ 2 (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) have been synthesized and characterized by UV/VIS, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra. The electrochemical behaviours of complexes 1 and 2 were observed and displayed oxidation potentials at 1.37 and 1.39 and 1.60 V vs. saturated calomel electrode, respectively. The binding of the two complexes with calf thymus DNA has also been investigated by a spectrophotometric method and viscosity measurements. The results indicated that the two complexes interact with DNA in sharply different ways. The mononuclear complex 1 intercalates into DNA base pairs despite its small hypochromicity value, while the binuclear complex 2 binds to DNA via electrostatic interaction. The circular dichroism signals of the dialysates of the racemic complexes against calf thymus DNA are discussed.

2-(2-Chlorophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline (CIP) or 2-(2-nitrophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline (NIP) and their complexes [Ru(bpy)2(CIP)]2+ and [Ru(bpy)2(NIP)]2+ (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) have been synthesized and characterized. The binding of the two complexes to calf thymus DNA has been investigated with spectrophotometric methods and viscosity measurements. The experimental results indicate that the two complexes bind to DNA through a partial intercalative mode that is different from the bonding mode for their parent compound, [Ru(bpy)2(PIP)]2+ (PIP = 2-phenylimidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline). The crystal structure of [Ru(bpy)2(CIP)][ClO4]2·2H2O was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis; the imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline moiety is not coplanar with the 2-chlorophenyl ring, having a dihedral angle of 44.5° in the CIP.

A new polypyridyl ligand, MCP {MCP = 2-(3-chlorophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline} and its ruthenium(II) complex, [Ru(bpy)2(MCP)](ClO4)2· 0.5MeCN (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine), have been synthesized and characterized. The structure of the complex was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The MCP ligand is essentially planar and the stacking interactions between the ligands were observed in the crystal. [Ru(bpy)2(MCP)]2+ can strongly bind to Calf thymus DNA through intercalation of MCP ligand. The Cl substitute group has no significant effect on the spectral properties and DNA-binding behaviour of the complex.

From the avoiding collision angle of multi-ships encounter, this paper applies target decomposition- coordination method of large-scale systems theory to decompose the anti-collision turning into multiple independent sub-problems of optimization between the ship and multi-ships, and by use of coordinator we can calculate this ship's optimal turning angle to avoid collision. The simulation result shows that this method can not only solve the ship's optimal anti-collision turning for the situations of multi-ship encountering with each other but also provide a reference for multi-ship collision avoidance decision-making system.

Two novel ruthenium(II) complexes, [Ru(pztp)2(phen)](ClO4)2 and [Ru(pztp)2(bpy)] (ClO4)2, have been synthesized and characterized by UV/Vis and 1H NMR spectroscopies and mass spectrometry. The MeCN solutions of both complexes display fluorescence that was found to be highly sensitive to the presence and concentration of water. The complexes behave like a "light switch" for DNA in that they do not luminesce in water but were "turned on" in the presence of DNA and show emission enhancement with the increase of DNA concentration. Their DNA binding behavior was also studied by absorption spectroscopy and viscosity measurements, which suggest that the DNA-complex interaction involves intercalation of the metal-bound pztp ligand into the base pairs of duplex DNA.

A series of enantiomerically pure polypyridyl ruthenium(II) complexes, delta- and lambda-[Ru(bpy)2 (HPIP)](PF6)2 (delta-1 and lambda-1; bpy=2,2'-bipyridine, HPIP = 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline), delta and lambda-[Ru(bpy)2(HNAIP)](PF6)2 (delta-2 and lambda-2; HNAIP = 2-(2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline), delta- and lambda-[Ru(bpy)2 (HNOIP)](PF6)2 (delta-3 and lambda-3; HNOIP = 2-(2-hydroxy-5-nitrophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline), and delta- and lambda-[Ru(bpy)2(DPPZ)](PF6)2 (delta-4 and lambda-4; DPPZ= dipyridophenazine), have been synthesized. Binding behavior of these chiral complexes to calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) has been investigated by electronic absorption, steady-state emission, and circular dichroism spectroscopies, as well as by viscosity measurements and equilibrium dialysis binding studies. Several points came from the results. (1) The DNA-binding properties were distinctly different for the [Ru(bpy)2L]2+ (L=HPIP, HNAIP, HNOIP) series of ruthenium(II) complexes, which indicates that the photophysical behavior of the complexes on binding to DNA can be modulated through ligand design. (2) Different binding rates of individual enantiomers of complexes 1 and 4 to DNA were observed through dialysis experiments. The lambda enantiomer bound more rapidly than the lambda enantiomer and their different intercalative binding geometries were suggested to be responsible. (3) Both delta-2 and lambda-2 bound weakly to CT-DNA; delta-2 may bind through a partial intercalation mode, whereas lambda-2 may bind in the DNA groove. (4) There was no noticeable enantioselectivity for complexes 1, 3, and 4 on binding to CT-DNA. Both of their enantiomers can intercalate into DNA base pairs. It is noted that delta-3 and lambda-3 exhibited almost identical spectral changes on addition of CT-DNA, and a similar binding manner of the isomers to the double helix was proposed.
