Abstract Manipulating dynamic behaviours of charge carriers and excitons in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) is essential to simultaneously achieve high colour purity and superior operational lifetime. In this work, a comprehensive transient electroluminescence investigation reveals that incorporating a thermally activated delayed fluorescence assistant molecule with a deep lowest unoccupied molecular orbital into a bipolar host matrix effectively traps the injected electrons. Meanwhile, the behaviours of hole injection and transport are still dominantly governed by host molecules. Thus, the recombination zone notably shifts toward the interface between the emissive layer (EML) and the electron-transporting layer (ETL). To mitigate the interfacial carrier accumulation and exciton quenching, this bipolar host matrix could serve as a non-barrier functional spacer between EML/ETL, enabling the distribution of recombination zone away from this interface. Consequently, the optimized OLED exhibits a low driving voltage, promising device stability (95% of the initial luminance of 1000 cd m−2, LT95 > 430 h), and a high Commission Internationale de L’Éclairage y coordinate of 0.69. This indicates that managing the excitons through rational energy level alignment holds the potential for simultaneously satisfying Rec.2020 standard and achieving commercial-level stability.

Abstract Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) exploiting simple binary emissive layers (EMLs) blending only emitters and hosts have natural advantages in low-cost commercialization. However, previously reported OLEDs based on binary EMLs hardly simultaneously achieved desired comprehensive performances, e.g., high efficiency, low efficiency roll-off, narrow emission bands, and high operation stability. Here, we report a molecular-design strategy. Such a strategy leads to a fast reverse intersystem crossing rate in our designed emitter h-BNCO-1 of 1.79×105 s−1. An OLED exploiting a binary EML with h-BNCO-1 achieves ultrapure emission, a maximum external quantum efficiency of over 40% and a mild roll-off of 14% at 1000 cd·m−2. Moreover, h-BNCO-1 also exhibits promising operational stability in an alternative OLED exploiting a compact binary EML (the lifetime reaching 95% of the initial luminance at 1000 cd m−2 is ~ 137 h). Here, our work has thus provided a molecular-design strategy for OLEDs with promising comprehensive performance.

5. Investigation and analysis of high risk factors of falls in hospitalised patients after vascular surgery

Abstract Aim To analyse the risk factors for falls in vascular patients and methods to mitigate fall risk in hospitalised patients receiving vascular surgery. Design This study is a multicentre, retrospective study. Methods A total of 112 inpatients that underwent vascular surgery in five hospitals in Shanxi Province from April 2018 to April 2022 were selected. They were divided into two groups according to whether they had fallen or not; 56 patients who fell were taken as the observation group and 56 patients who did not fall were taken as the control group. The risk factors of falls were analysed by univariate and logistic regression. Results There was no significant difference between the observation and the control groups in male patients and the incidence of falls without family members. In the observation group, the percentage of patients aged ≥65 years old, with a history of falls and/or fractures, long‐term medications and a history of osteoporosis was higher than in the control group and showed a statistically significant difference. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that advanced age, a history of falls and fractures, long‐term medications and a history of osteoporosis were independent risk factors for falls, and the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion Older age, a history of falls and/or fractures, continuous medication for more than 3 months and a history of osteoporosis are the risk factors for falls in hospitalised patients undergoing vascular surgery.

6. A Stable Open-Shell Conjugated Diradical Polymer with Ultra-High Photothermal Conversion Efficiency for NIR-II Photo-Immunotherapy of Metastatic Tumor

Highlights By employing side-chain regulation, the photothermal therapy response of conjugated diradical polymer can red-shift from near-infrared (NIR)-I to the NIR-II region. This strategy offers new radical materials in developing NIR-II photothermal materials. The conjugated diradical polymer TTB-2 receives a record-high photothermal conversion efficiency of 87.7%, far beyond the recently reported NIR-II photothermal agents. Such conjugated diradical polymer must enrich the NIR-II photothermal agents’ library and provide important insight for more diradical polymer construction. The conjugated diradical polymer nanoparticles TTB-2 NPs achieve good tumor photoablation with navigation of photoacoustic imaging in the NIR-II window, without any side effect. Furthermore, the efficient photo-immunity effect prevents the pulmonary metastasis of breast cancer.

Abstract Objective To explore the effect of a health (E)-coach chronic disease management model on the rehabilitation behaviour management of patients with arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO). Methods The E-coach chronic disease management model was constructed based on a literature review and expert interviews. The effect of the E-coach model on patients with ASO during hospitalisation was analysed by comparing the compliance rates of blood glucose control, blood pressure control, drug compliance, ankle-brachial index, 6-min walking test (6MWT) and pain-free walking distance (PFWD) scores between the E-coach and control groups. Results In total, 212 patients with ASO were included in this study. 8. Tungsten combustion in impact initiated W–Al composite based on W(Al) super-saturated solid solution

Element W can effectively improve the density of energetic structural materials. However, W is an inert element and does not combust in air. To change the reaction characteristics of W, 60 at.% Al was introduced into W through mechanical alloying. XRD analysis shows that after 50 h of ball milling, the diffraction peak of Al completely disappears and W(Al60) super-saturated solid solution powder is obtained. Further observation by HAADF and HRTEM reveals that the W(Al60) super-saturated solid solution powder is a mixture of solid solution and amorphous phase. Based on the good thermal stability of W(Al60) alloy powder below 1000 °C, W(Al60)–Al composite was synthesized by hot pressing process. Impact initiation experiments suggest that the W(Al60)–Al composite has excellent reaction characteristics, and multiple types of tungsten oxides are detected in the reaction products, showing that the modified W is combustible in air. Due to the combustion of tungsten, the energy release rate of the W(Al60)–Al composite at speed of 1362 m/s reaches 2.71 kJ/g.

Abstract Optimal bowel preparation is a prerequisite for a successful colonoscopy; however, the rate of inadequate bowel preparation remains relatively high. In this study, we establish a smartphone app that assesses patient bowel preparation using an artificial intelligence (AI)-based prediction system trained on labeled photographs of feces in the toilet and evaluate its impact on bowel preparation quality in colonoscopy outpatients. We conduct a prospective, single-masked, multicenter randomized clinical trial, enrolling outpatients who own a smartphone and are scheduled for a colonoscopy. We screen 578 eligible patients and randomize 524 in a 1:1 ratio to the control or AI-driven app group for bowel preparation. The study endpoints are the percentage of patients with adequate bowel preparation and the total BBPS score, compliance with dietary restrictions and purgative instructions, polyp detection rate, and adenoma detection rate (secondary). The prediction system has an accuracy of 95.15%, a specificity of 97.25%, and an area under the curve of 0.98 in the test dataset. 13. Effect and mechanism of miR-135b on apoptosis of HCT116 colon cancer cells

ObjectiveTo explore the effect and mechanism of microRNA-135b (miR-135b) on apoptosis of HCT116 colon cancer cells. Methods HCT116 cells were divided into control group, miR-135b NC group and miR-135b inhibitor group. Cell viability was detected with 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Cell apoptosis was detected with Hoechst staining. The expression of B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), Bcl-2-associated X (Bax), poly ADP-ribose polymerase (cleaved-PARP), cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase (cleaved-caspase 3), phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), and protein kinase A (AKT) were detected with Western blot. ResultsThe expression of miR-135b was down-regulated in miR-135b inhibitor group compared with that in control group and miR-135b NC group (0.53 ± 0.05 vs. 1.00 ± 0.03 and 1.02 ± 0.04) (F = 259.19, P < 0.05). The cell viability and apoptotic rate of HCT116 cells were 0.58 ± 0.05 and 3.24 ± 0.13% for control group, 0.59 ± 0.06 and 3.27 ± 0.08% for miR-135b NC group, and 0.39 ± 0.04 and 36.48 ± 0.52% for miR-135b inhibitor group, respectively, with significantly decreased viability but increased apoptotic rate of HCT116 cells for miR-135b inhibitor group compared with that for control group and miR-135b NC group (both P < 0.05). Significantly down-regulated expressions of Bcl-2, cleaved-caspase 3, PI3K, and p-Akt and up-regulated expressions of Bax, cleaved-PARP, and PTEN were detected in miR-135b inhibitor group in comparison with those in control group and miR-135b NC group was (P < 0.05 for all). Conclusion Dow-regulation of miR-135b could induce apoptosis of HCT116 cells, which might be related to the blocking of PTEN/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

Abstract High‐performance nondoped organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) are promising technologies for future commercial applications. Herein, we synthesized two new thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters that enable us, for the first time, to combine three effective approaches for enhancing the efficiency of nondoped OLEDs. First, the two emitters are designed to have high steric hindrances such that their emitting cores will be suitably isolated from those of their neighbors to minimize concentration quenching. On the other hand, each of the two emitters has two stable conformations in solid films. In their neat films, molecules with the minority conformation behave effectively as dopants in the matrix composing of the majority conformation. One hundred percent exciton harvesting is thus theoretically feasible in this unique architecture of “self‐doped” neat films. Furthermore, both emitters have relatively high aspect ratios in terms of their molecular shapes. This leads to films with preferred molecular orientations enabling high populations of horizontal dipoles beneficial for optical out‐coupling. With these three factors, OLEDs with nondoped emitting layers of the respective emitters both achieve nearly 100% exciton utilization and deliver over 30% external quantum efficiencies and ultralow efficiency roll‐off at high brightness, which have not been observed in reported nondoped OLEDs.

Abstract Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials with aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) features can overcome aggregation‐caused quenching (ACQ) and emit intensely in aggregate states and thus have attracted enormous attention in the fields of high‐efficiency organic light‐emitting diodes, bioimaging, photodynamic therapy, photocatalysis, etc. However, their corresponding exact working mechanisms at the microscopic level are still far from clear. Herein, by carefully investigating the physical properties of our newly designed TADF material 6‐(10H‐spiro[acridine‐9,9′‐fluoren]‐10‐yl)nicotinonitrile in various states, we concluded that conformational isomerization plays an important role in realizing high photoluminescence quantum yields in its amorphous neat film state, in which the high‐lying quasi‐axial conformations with non‐TADF features and low‐lying quasi‐equal conformations with TADF characteristics serve as the host matrix and dopant, respectively, thus suppressing ACQ in disordered aggregate states. Our work not only offers a new possible microscopic mechanism by using conformational isomerization for the AIE‐TADF phenomenon but also provides a novel method for designing high‐efficiency AIE‐TADF emitters.

17. Genome-wide analysis of TALE superfamily in Triticum aestivum reveals TaKNOX11-A is involved in abiotic stress response

Abstract Background Three-amino-loop-extension (TALE) superfamily genes are widely present in plants and function directly in plant growth and development and abiotic stress response. Although TALE genes have been studied in many plant species, members of the TALE family have not been identified in wheat. Results In this study, we identified 70 wheat TALE protein candidate genes divided into two subfamilies, KNOX (KNOTTED-like homeodomain) and BEL1-like (BLH/BELL homeodomain). Genes in the same subfamily or branch in the phylogenetic tree are similar in structure, and their encoded proteins have similar motifs and conserved structures. Wheat TALE genes are unevenly distributed on 21 chromosomes and expanded on the fourth chromosome. Through gene duplication analysis, 53 pairs of wheat TALE genes were determined to result from segmental duplication events, and five pairs were caused by tandem duplication events. The Ka/Ks between TALE gene pairs indicates a strong purification and selection effect. There are multiple cis-elements in the 2000 bp promoter sequence that respond to hormones and abiotic stress, indicating that most wheat TALE genes are involved in the growth, development, and stress response of wheat. We also studied the expression profiles of wheat TALE genes in different developmental stages and tissues and under different stress treatments. We detected the expression levels of four TALE genes by qRT-PCR, and selected TaKNOX11-A for further downstream analysis. TaKNOX11-A enhanced the drought and salt tolerances of Arabidopsis thaliana. TaKNOX11-A overexpressing plants had decreased malondialdehyde content and increased proline content, allowing for more effective adaptation of plants to unfavorable environments. Conclusions We identified TALE superfamily members in wheat and conducted a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis. The discovery of the potential role of TaKNOX11-A in drought resistance and salt tolerance provides a basis for follow-up studies of wheat TALE family members, and also provides new genetic resources for improving the stress resistance of wheat.

Abstract In this paper, the natural convection heat transfer of water/alumina nanofluid is investigated in a closed square cavity. An oblique magnetic field is applied on the cavity of angle $$\gamma$$ γ . There is also radiation heat transfer in the cavity. The cavity includes a high-temperature source of L-shape. A low-temperature source as a quadrant of a circle is placed at the corner of the cavity. All other walls are well insulated. The novelty of this work is a low-temperature obstacle embedded in the cavity. Simulations are conducted with a Fortran code based on the control volume method and simple algorithm. Entropy generation rate, Bejan number, and heat transfer are studied by changing different parameters. Results indicate that the highest rates of heat transfer and entropy generation have occurred for the perpendicular magnetic field at high values of the Rayleigh number. At these Rayleigh numbers, the minimum value of the Bejan number is obtained for 15° magnetic field. The magnetic field variation can lead to a change up to 53% in Nusselt number and up to 34% in generated entropy. In a weak magnetic field, the involvement of the radiation heat transfer mechanism leads to an increase in the heat transfer rate so that the Nusselt number can be increased by ten units considering the radiation heat transfer when there is no magnetic field. The maximum heat transfer rate occurs in the horizontal cavity and the minimum value in the cavity of 60° angle. For water, these values are 10.75 and 9.98 for 0 and 60 angles, respectively. Moreover, a weak magnetic field increases the heat transfer rate in the absence of the radiation mechanism, while it is reduced by considering a strong magnetic field.

ObjectiveCurrent guidelines recommend potent P2Y12 inhibitors such as ticagrelor over clopidogrel as part of the dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), irrespective of final management strategy. The aim of this multicenter prospective cohort study was to examine the efficacy and safety of bivalirudin with background ticagrelor and aspirin therapy in patients with STEMI undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI).MethodsA total of 800 patients with STEMI who were undergoing PPCI and receiving treatment with aspirin and ticagrelor from three Hospitals between April 2019 and September 2021 were included in this study. The patients were assigned, according to the perioperative anticoagulant, to the bivalirudin group (n = 456) or the heparin group (n = 344). In this study, the primary endpoint was 30-day net adverse clinical events (NACEs), a composite of major adverse cardiac or cerebral events (MACCEs, a composite of cardiac death, recurrent myocardial infarction, ischemia-driven target vessel revascularization, or stroke), or any bleeding as defined by the Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) definition (grades 1–5).ResultsThe patients were followed up for 30 days after PPCI. The incidence of NACE was significantly lower in the bivalirudin group than in the heparin group (11.2 vs. 16.0%, P = 0.042), and this significance was mainly a consequence of the reduction in BARC 1 bleeding events in the bivalirudin group compared to the heparin group (3.2 vs. 7.1%, P = 0.010). Results from multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that bivalirudin significantly reduced 30-day NACE (HR: 0.676, 95% CI: 0.462–0.990, P = 0.042) and BARC1 bleeding events (HR: 0.429, 95% CI: 0.222–0.830, P = 0.010). No significant between-group differences were observed for MACCE, all-cause mortality, cardiac death, recurrent myocardial infarction, stroke, target vessel revascularization, stent thrombosis, and BARC2-5 bleeding events at 30 days.ConclusionIn patients with STEMI who were undergoing primary PCI and receiving treatment with aspirin and ticagrelor, bivalirudin was associated with decreased rates in NACE and minimal bleeding events without significant differences in the rates of MACCE or stent thrombosis when compared with heparin. Abstract Background The serine carboxypeptidase-like protein (SCPL) family plays a vital role in stress response, growth, development and pathogen defense. However, the identification and functional analysis of SCPL gene family members have not yet been performed in wheat. Results In this study, we identified a total of 210 candidate genes encoding SCPL proteins in wheat. According to their structural characteristics, it is possible to divide these members into three subfamilies: CPI, CPII and CPIII. We uncovered a total of 209 TaSCPL genes unevenly distributed across 21 wheat chromosomes, of which 65.7% are present in triads. Gene duplication analysis showed that ~ 10.5% and ~ 64.8% of the TaSCPL genes are derived from tandem and segmental duplication events, respectively. Moreover, the Ka/Ks ratios between duplicated TaSCPL gene pairs were lower than 0.6, which suggests the action of strong purifying selection. Gene structure analysis showed that most of the TaSCPL genes contain multiple introns and that the motifs present in each subfamily are relatively conserved. Our analysis on cis-acting elements showed that the promoter sequences of TaSCPL genes are enriched in drought-, ABA- and MeJA-responsive elements. In addition, we studied the expression profiles of TaSCPL genes in different tissues at different developmental stages. We then evaluated the expression levels of four TaSCPL genes by qRT-PCR, and selected TaSCPL184-6D for further downstream analysis. The results showed an enhanced drought and salt tolerance among TaSCPL184-6D transgenic Arabidopsis plants, and that the overexpression of the gene increased proline and decreased malondialdehyde levels, which might help plants adapting to adverse environments. Our results provide comprehensive analyses of wheat SCPL genes that might work as a reference for future studies aimed at improving drought and salt tolerance in wheat. Conclusions We conducte a comprehensive bioinformatic analysis of the TaSCPL gene family in wheat, which revealing the potential roles of TaSCPL genes in abiotic stress. Our analysis also provides useful resources for improving the resistance of wheat.

Abstract Adhesion G protein-coupled receptor A1 (ADGRA1, also known as GPR123) belongs to the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) family and is well conserved in the vertebrate lineage. However, the structure of ADGRA1 is unique and its physiological function remains unknown. Previous studies have shown that Adgra1 is predominantly expressed in the central nervous system (CNS), indicating its important role in the transduction of neural signals. The aim of this study is to investigate the central function of Adgra1 in vivo and clarify its physiological significance by establishing an Adgra1-deficient mouse (Adgra1 −/− ) model. The results show that Adgra1 −/− male mice exhibit decreased body weight with normal food intake and locomotion, shrinkage of body mass, increased lipolysis, and hypermetabolic activity. Meanwhile, mutant male mice present elevated core temperature coupled with resistance to hypothermia upon cold stimulus. Further studies show that tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and β3-adrenergic receptor (β3-AR), indicators of sympathetic nerve excitability, are activated as well as their downstream molecules including uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1), coactivator 1 alpha (PGC1-α) in brown adipose tissue (BAT), and hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) in white adipose tissue (WAT). In addition, mutant male mice have higher levels of serum T3, T4, accompanied by increased mRNAs of hypothalamus–pituitary–thyroid axis. Finally, Adgra1 −/− male mice present abnormal activation of PI3K/AKT/GSK3β and MEK/ERK pathways in hypothalamus. Overexpression of ADGRA1 in Neuro2A cell line appears to suppress these two signaling pathways. In contrast, Adgra1 −/− female mice show comparable body weight along with normal metabolic process to their sex-matched controls. Collectively, ADGRA1 is a negative regulator of sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and hypothalamus–pituitary–thyroid axis by regulating PI3K/AKT/GSK3β and MEK/ERK pathways in hypothalamus of male mice, suggesting an important role of ADGRA1 in maintaining metabolic homeostasis including energy expenditure and thermogenic balance.

Situs inversus totalis (SIT) is a rare congenital condition in which the usual position of the organs is reversed from left to right as a mirror image of the normal situation. Due to the abnormal transposition, this represents a technical challenge for the surgeon. In the present study, right hemihepatectomy via the anterior approach was performed for a 68-year-old hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patient with SIT. SIT was diagnosed by chest X-ray and computed tomography. The tumors were located in segments VIII and VI of the liver, and there was no metastasis to the lymph nodes and distant organs. Hemihepatic vascular inflow occlusion was performed using the selective intra-Glissonian approach. The middle hepatic vein was preserved under the guidance with intraoperative ultrasonography. The present case suggests that right hemihepatectomy via the anterior approach may be a safe, feasible, and effective procedure for HCC patients with SIT.

Deep learning is widely used in the fields of information technology and education innovation but there are few studies for young children in the preschool stage. Therefore, we aimed to explore factors that affect children’s learning ability through collecting relevant information from teachers in the kindergarten. Literature review, interview, and questionnaire survey methods were used to determine the influencing factors of deep learning. There were five dimensions for these factors: the level of difficulty of academic, communication skills, level of active collaboration, level of in-depth processing, and reflection level evaluation. Reliability and validity tests were used to analyze the data from questionnaires. In total, 100 valid questionnaires were collected. The Cronbach coefficients for academic challenge, communication, active cooperation, deep processing, and reflective evaluation were 0.801, 0.689, 0.770, 0.758, and 0.665, respectively. Principal component analysis revealed that there were three main factors that affect children’s learning depth: the level of deep processing (maximum KMO: 0.908), the level of reflective evaluation (maximum KMO: 0.542), and the active level of collaboration (maximum KMO: 0.410). In conclusion, there were several factors affecting deep learning in children and further studies are warranted to promote the development of this field.

Background: The responses of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) or corticosteroids as the initial treatment on pregnancy with ITP were unsatisfactory. This study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of prednisone plus IVIg versus prednisone or IVIg in pregnant patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Methods: Between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2020, 970 pregnancies diagnosed with ITP at 19 collaborative centers in China were reviewed in this observational study. A total of 513 pregnancies (52.89%) received no intervention. Concerning the remaining pregnancies, 151 (33.04%) pregnancies received an initial treatment of prednisone plus IVIg, 105 (22.98%) pregnancies received IVIg alone, and 172 (37.64%) pregnancies only received prednisone. Results: Regarding the maternal response to the initial treatment, no differences were found among the three treatment groups (41.1% for prednisone plus IVIg, 33.1% for prednisone, and 38.1% for IVIg). Background and AimsCurrent knowledge on the temporal dynamics of the brain functional organization in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is limited. This is the first study on alterations in the patterns of dynamic functional connection density (dFCD) involving ALS.MethodsWe obtained resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data from 50 individuals diagnosed with ALS and 55 healthy controls (HCs). We calculated the functional connectivity (FC) between a given voxel and all other voxels within the entire brain and yield the functional connection density (FCD) value per voxel. dFCD was assessed by sliding window correlation method. In addition, the standard deviation (SD) of dFCD across the windows was computed voxel-wisely to measure dFCD variability. The difference in dFCD variability between the two groups was compared using a two-sample t-test following a voxel-wise manner. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to assess the between-group recognition performance of the dFCD variability index.ResultsThe dFCD variability was significantly reduced in the bilateral precentral and postcentral gyrus compared with the HC group, whereas a marked increase was observed in the left middle frontal gyrus of ALS patients. dFCD variability exhibited moderate potential (areas under ROC curve = 0.753–0.837, all P < 0.001) in distinguishing two groups.ConclusionALS patients exhibit aberrant dynamic property in brain functional architecture. The dFCD evaluation improves our understanding of the pathological mechanisms underlying ALS and may assist in its diagnosis.

Purpose: Static and dynamic analyses for identifying functional connectivity (FC) have demonstrated brain dysfunctions in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). However, few studies on the stability of dynamic FC have been conducted among ALS patients. This study explored the change of functional stability in ALS and how it correlates with disease severity.Methods: We gathered resting-state functional magnetic resonance data from 20 patients with ALS and 22 healthy controls (HCs). The disease severity was assessed with the Revised ALS Functional Rating Scale (ALSFRS-R). We used a sliding window correlation approach to identify dynamic FC and measured the concordance of dynamic FC over time to obtain the functional stability of each voxel. We assessed the between-group difference in functional stability by voxel-wise two-sample t-test. The correlation between the functional stability index and ALSFRS-R in ALS patients was evaluated using Spearman's correlation analysis.Results: Compared with the HC group, the ALS group had significantly increased functional stability in the left pre-central and post-central gyrus and right temporal pole while decreased functional stability in the right middle and inferior frontal gyrus. The results revealed a significant correlation between ALSFRS-R and the mean functional stability in the right temporal pole (r = −0.452 and P = 0.046) in the ALS patients.Conclusions: ALS patients have abnormal stability of brain functional architecture, which is associated with the severity of the disease.

The objective of this article is to explore the unsteady natural convection flows of Prabhakar-like non integer Maxwell fluid. Moreover, wall slip condition on temperature and Newtonian effects on heating are also studied. The generalized memory effects are illustrated with fractional time Prabhakar derivative. Dimensionless temperature and velocity are calculated analytically with the help of Laplace transform technique. A comparison among Prabhakar fractional natural convection flows and classical thermal transport which, illustrated by the Fourier's law. As a limiting case, we recovered the solution of ordinary Maxwell and Newtonian fluids from fractional Maxwell fluids with slip and no slip conditions. The results of fractional and important physical parameters are graphically covered. Accordingly, by comparing Maxwell fluids to viscous fluids, we found out that Maxwell fluids are move rapidly than viscous fluids. Moreover, the ordinary fluids moving fast than fractional fluids.

The existing article explores the attributes of convection and Joule heating across a magnetohydrodynamics two-dimensional stagnation point flow of a nano liquid depending on the permeable curved stretching/shrinking surface and mass suction. Applying the non-dimensional variables, the basic model of partial differential equations (PDEs) is converted to the dimensionless ordinary differential equations (ODEs), which are solved through the bvp4c method (bult-in function in MATLAB). Multiple graphical results have been examined to observe the effect of diverse flow parameters against temperature, friction drag, velocity and heat transfer. From these results, it has been determined that the temperature profile escalates with the escalation of Hartmann, Eckert and Biot number, nanoparticles concentration and curvature parameter, although the velocity of fluid reduces with escalating values of nanoparticle concentration parameter, curvature parameter, and Hartmann number. It is equally important to indicate that the friction drag reduces with large curvature and rises with greater suction however the rate of heat transfer declines with least value of Eckert number and improves with strong suction, Hartmann, and Biot number.

BackgroundThis study reviews the progress of leprosy elimination in Yunnan, China, over the past 30 years and identifies the challenges for the next stage of the program.Methodology/principal findingsData were collected from the Leprosy Management Information System in China (LEPMIS). The progress made in the elimination of leprosy between 1990 and 2019 was measured. We defined two time periods, time period 1 (1990-2003) and time period 2 (2004-2019), because multidrug therapy (MDT) was launched for the treatment of leprosy in 1990 and a special fund from the central government was established for leprosy in 2004. During the past 30 years, the number of newly detected leprosy patients in Yunnan has steadily declined. In total, 703 newly detected leprosy patients were reported in 1990, and 353 and 136 cases were reported at the end of 2003 and 2019, respectively. At the end of 1990, 90.7% (117/129) of counties in Yunnan Province were identified as leprosy-endemic counties (>1 case per 100,000 population). By the end of 2003 and 2019, 39.3% (46/117) and 85.5% (100/117) of the leprosy-endemic counties, respectively, had dropped below the elimination threshold. The main challenges are the remaining leprosy-endemic counties, the high rate of cases with a contact history, insufficient early detection, and leprosy cases resulting in physical disability.Conclusions/significanceA multifaceted strategy for leprosy elimination in Yunnan Province has been successfully implemented, and remarkable progress has been made in the elimination of leprosy in this area. The priorities for leprosy elimination in the next stage are securing sustainable support and investment from the government, establishing an effective surveillance system, ensuring prompt early detection, providing treatment with MDT, preventing transmission of M. leprae, preventing disability, providing health education, and preventing recurrence of the epidemic situation of leprosy.

40. Genomic-Wide Analysis of the PLC Family and Detection of GmPI-PLC7 Responses to Drought and Salt Stresses in Soybean

Phospholipase C (PLC) performs significant functions in a variety of biological processes, including plant growth and development. The PLC family of enzymes principally catalyze the hydrolysis of phospholipids in organisms. This exhaustive exploration of soybean GmPLC members using genome databases resulted in the identification of 15 phosphatidylinositol-specific PLC (GmPI-PLC) and 9 phosphatidylcholine-hydrolyzing PLC (GmNPC) genes. Chromosomal location analysis indicated that GmPLC genes mapped to 10 of the 20 soybean chromosomes. Phylogenetic relationship analysis revealed that GmPLC genes distributed into two groups in soybean, the PI-PLC and NPC groups. The expression patterns and tissue expression analysis showed that GmPLCs were differentially expressed in response to abiotic stresses. GmPI-PLC7 was selected to further explore the role of PLC in soybean response to drought and salt stresses by a series of experiments. Compared with the transgenic empty vector (EV) control lines, over-expression of GmPI-PLC7 (OE) conferred higher drought and salt tolerance in soybean, while the GmPI-PLC7-RNAi (RNAi) lines exhibited the opposite phenotypes. Plant tissue staining and physiological parameters observed from drought- and salt-stressed plants showed that stress increased the contents of chlorophyll, oxygen free radical (O2–), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and NADH oxidase (NOX) to amounts higher than those observed in non-stressed plants. This study provides new insights in the functional analysis of GmPLC genes in response to abiotic stresses.

Background and Aims: Numerous studies have demonstrated thalamus-related structural, functional, and metabolic abnormalities in minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE). We conducted the first study to investigate thalamic structural connectivity alterations in MHE.MethodsDiffusion tensor imaging (DTI)-based probabilistic tractography was employed to determine the structural linkage between the thalamus and cortical/subcortical regions in 52 cirrhotic patients [22 with MHE; 30 without MHE (NHE)] and 30 controls. We measured these thalamic connections, which included connectivity strength (CS), fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivity (AD), and radial diffusivity (RD), and then compared these among the three groups. Neurocognitive assessment was also performed. Correlation analysis was conducted to investigate the relationship between neurocognitive performance and the above measurements. Classification analysis was performed to determine whether thalamic connection measurements can distinguish MHE from NHE.ResultsThe probabilistic tractography revealed thalamic structural connections, which were disrupted in cirrhotic patients (as reflected by a decrease in CS/FA and an increase in MD/AD/RD). Abnormal thalamic connections primarily involved the prefrontal cortex, sensorimotor cortex, parietal cortex, medial temporal cortex and hippocampus, and striatum. Thalamic connectivity abnormalities deteriorated from NHE to MHE, and they were correlated with patients’ neurocognitive performance. The moderate classification accuracy was obtained using CS and MD as discriminating indexes.ConclusionOur results demonstrated the altered thalamic structural connectivity involving both cortical and subcortical regions in MHE, which could be regarded as representative of MHE-related widespread impairments in white matter pathways. The disturbed thalamic connectivity may underlie the mechanism of cognitive deficits in MHE and may potentially be utilized as a biomarker for diagnosing MHE and in monitoring disease progression. In addition to thalamic–cortical/subcortical connections, further studies are recommended to explore the structural alterations in other white matter pathways in MHE.

The study explored the 3D numerical solution of an unsteady Ag-MgO/water hybrid nanofluid flow with mass and energy transmission generated by a wavy rotating disc moving up and down. The nanofluid is generated in the context of Ag-MgO nanomaterials. Magnesium oxide and silver nanoparticles have been heavily reported to have broad-spectrum antibacterial operations among metal oxides and metals. Silver nanoparticles are without a doubt the most commonly used inorganic nanoparticles, with numerous innovations in biomaterial's detection and antimicrobial operations. However, in current paper, the intention of the analysis is to boost thermal energy transmitting rates for a range of industrial implementations. When compared to a flat surface, energy transition is increased up to 15% due to the wavy swirling surface. The problem has been formulated as a system of PDEs, which included the Navier Stokes and Maxwell equations. Following that, the modeled equations are reduced to a dimensionless system of differential equations. The derived equations are then solved numerically using the Parametric Continuation Method (PCM). The findings are displayed graphically and debated. The geometry of a spinning disc is thought to have a positive impact on velocity and heat energy transfer. The insertion of nanostructured materials (silver and magnesium-oxide) increased the carrier fluid's thermal properties considerably. It is more effective at dealing with low energy transmission.

In this study, we formulate a noninteger-order mathematical model via the Caputo operator for the transmission dynamics of the bacterial disease tuberculosis (TB) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan. The number of confirmed cases from 2002 to 2017 is considered as incidence data for the estimation of parameters or to parameterize the model and analysis. The positivity and boundedness of the model solution are derived. For the dynamics of the tuberculosis model, we find the equilibrium points and the basic reproduction number. GDSL-type esterase/lipase proteins (GELPs) belong to the SGNH hydrolase superfamily and contain a conserved GDSL motif at their N-terminus. GELPs are widely distributed in nature, from microbes to plants, and play crucial roles in growth and development, stress responses and pathogen defense. However, the identification and functional analysis of GELP genes are hardly explored in soybean. This study describes the identification of 194 GELP genes in the soybean genome and their phylogenetic classification into 11 subfamilies (A–K). GmGELP genes are disproportionally distributed on 20 soybean chromosomes. Large-scale WGD/segmental duplication events contribute greatly to the expansion of the soybean GDSL gene family. The Ka/Ks ratios of more than 70% of duplicated gene pairs ranged from 0.1–0.3, indicating that most GmGELP genes were under purifying selection pressure. Gene structure analysis indicate that more than 74% of GmGELP genes are interrupted by 4 introns and composed of 5 exons in their coding regions, and closer homologous genes in the phylogenetic tree often have similar exon-intron organization. Further statistics revealed that approximately 56% of subfamily K members contain more than 4 introns, and about 28% of subfamily I members consist of less than 4 introns. For this reason, the two subfamilies were used to simulate intron gain and loss events, respectively. Furthermore, a new model of intron position distribution was established in current study to explore whether the evolution of multi-gene families resulted from the diversity of gene structure. Finally, RNA-seq data were used to investigate the expression profiles of GmGELP gene under different tissues and multiple abiotic stress treatments. Subsequently, 7 stress-responsive GmGELP genes were selected to verify their expression levels by RT-qPCR, the results were consistent with RNA-seq data. Among 7 GmGELP genes, GmGELP28 was selected for further study owing to clear responses to drought, salt and ABA treatments. Transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana and soybean plants showed drought and salt tolerant phenotype. Overexpression of GmGELP28 resulted in the changes of several physiological indicators, which allowed plants to adapt adverse conditions. In all, GmGELP28 is a potential candidate gene for improving the salinity and drought tolerance of soybean.

Objectives: White matter (WM) impairments involving both motor and extra-motor areas have been well-documented in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This study tested the potential of diffusion measurements in WM for identifying ALS based on support vector machine (SVM).Methods: Voxel-wise fractional anisotropy (FA) values of diffusion tensor images (DTI) were extracted from 22 ALS patients and 26 healthy controls and served as discrimination features. The revised ALS Functional Rating Scale (ALSFRS-R) was employed to assess ALS severity. Feature ranking and selection were based on Fisher scores. A linear kernel SVM algorithm was applied to build the classification model, from which the classification performance was evaluated. To promote classifier generalization ability, a leave-one-out cross-validation (LOOCV) method was adopted.Results: By using the 2,400~3,400 ranked features as optimal features, the highest classification accuracy of 83.33% (sensitivity = 77.27% and specificity = 88.46%, P = 0.0001) was achieved, with an area under receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.862. The predicted function value was positively correlated with patient ALSFRS-R scores (r = 0.493, P = 0.020). In the optimized SVM model, FA values from several regions mostly contributed to classification, primarily involving the corticospinal tract pathway, postcentral gyrus, and frontal and parietal areas.Conclusions: Our results suggest the feasibility of ALS diagnosis based on SVM analysis and diffusion measurements of WM. Additional investigations using a larger cohort is recommended in order to validate the results of this study.

49. High‐Performance Nondoped Blue Delayed Fluorescence Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes Featuring Low Driving Voltage and High Brightness

Abstract Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) provides great potential for the realization of efficient and stable organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, it is still challenging for blue TADF emitters to simultaneously achieve high efficiency, high brightness, and low Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) y coordinate (CIEy) value. Here, the design and synthesis of two new benzonitrile‐based TADF emitters (namely 2,6‐di(9H‐carbazol‐9‐yl)‐3,5‐bis(3,6‐diphenyl‐9H‐carbazol‐9‐yl)benzonitrile (2PhCz2CzBn) and 2,6‐di(9H‐carbazol‐9‐yl)‐3,5‐bis(3,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐9H‐carbazol‐9‐yl)benzonitrile (2tCz2CzBn)) with a symmetrical and rigid heterodonor configuration are reported. The TADF OLEDs doped with both the emitters can achieve a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) over 20% and narrowband blue emission of 464 nm with a CIEy < 0.2. Moreover, the incorporation of a terminal tert‐butyl group can weaken the intermolecular π–π stacking in the nondoped TADF emitter, and thus significantly suppress self‐aggregation‐caused emission quenching for enhanced delayed fluorescence. A peak EQE of 21.6% is realized in the 2tCz2CzBn‐based nondoped device with an extremely low turn‐on voltage of 2.7 V, high color stability, a high brightness over 20 000 cd m−2, a narrow full‐width at half‐maximum of 70 nm, and CIE color coordinates of (0.167, 0.248).

Literature suggests important roles of a high-fat diet (HFD) in tumour development, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study assessed the protective effect of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) on HFD-enhanced colon tumours and the underlying mechanism. WT mice were fed a normal fat diet or HFD and Fat-1 mice were fed a HFD for 22 weeks. For weeks 1–6, all mice were intraperitoneally administered AOM weekly. HFD significantly enhanced AOM-induced colon tumorigenesis in WT mice; however, tumour incidence and multiplicity were markedly lower in Fat-1 mice. HFD-triggered tumour development involved the activation of inflammatory signalling pathways, including TNF-α/NF-κB, IL-6/STAT3, and downstream NLRP3/IL-1β pathways and upregulation of β-catenin/c-myc pathway, which is associated with cancer cell proliferation. n-3 PUFAs inhibited colon tumour development and mitigated the changes to the aforementioned inflammatory pathways and oncogenic signalling. We provide experimental evidence for the role of n-3 PUFAs as potential chemopreventive agents against colon cancer.
