As an important document for the description and communication of transport policies, transport white papers have drawn special attention in western countries. This paper studies European transport white papers with the aim to explore their merits for reference. Firstly, the paper reviews the chronological development of European transport white papers to give a holistic view. Then, three European transport white papers that have critical historical meanings are analyzed in details, inspecting their issue background and policy objectives. Moreover, the features of European transport white papers are summarized, which include the concentration on chief problem, thorough action plan and flexible content system. These features deserve learning for other authorities when developing transport white papers.

To promote the new urbanization development, this paper utilizes the coordination theory and transport economic theory to select some typical countries, including United States, Japan, Britain, and South Korea, to analyze the correlation between their urbanization development stage and the evolution of their main transportation modes; on the other hand, it studies the mutual support between the urbanization development and the spatial variation of transport network. The above results are then used to make a comparison with the actual situation of China urbanization development. Therefore, this paper presents some new ideas for the transportation development in China’s urbanization process from two aspects, the development stage and the development focus, aiming to guide a healthy urbanization and achieve the sustainable development.

Due to the problems of long-term irrational traffic structure, uncoordinated transport joins, unsuccessful institutions and mechanisms, China's comprehensive transport system construction is still at an initial stage, the judgment on the construction of comprehensive transport system also lacks a unified standard. Combined with China’s general idea of comprehensive transport development, the key aspects of construction of comprehensive transport system is analyzed, the evaluation indexes of comprehensive transport system construction are constructed by the using of Data Envelopment Analysis model, providing a reference for subsequent work to construct a comprehensive transport system.

In the last few decades, metropolitan districts have played an increasingly importance role in process of urbanization. To support this trend, transport, as a fundamental and strategic industry sector, should promote the development of metropolitan districts. This paper studies transport practices in metropolitan district development from varied dimensions: transport concept, transport infrastructure, administrative organization, and transport service. Corresponding to these dimensions, the representative transport practices that are closely related to metropolitan districts are investigated, which include the concept of smart growth, the intense and complex transport corridor, the interregional plan organization, and the intermodal passenger transport. Finally, conclusions are drawn and further suggestions are suggested.

In April 2007, Ministry of Transport promulgated Planning of National Highway Transportation Hub, in which 196 cities were included in the city of national highway transportation hub, and those cities would gain financial support and policy support from Ministry of Transport and local Department of Transport. However, particularity of highway transportation hub development in ethnic minority areas was not took into account in the Planning of National Highway Transportation Hub, in accordance with features of economic and social development in ethnic minority areas, analysis of problems existing in the development of highway transportation hub and in conjunction with layout of Yanbian national highway transport hub, this paper discussed the ideas of highway transportation hub development in ethnic minority areas.

in the traditional prediction system of integrated transport, various modes of transport are predicted individually, thus they are independent of the integrated transport system due to the lack of connection, so the prediction results are relatively large. Therefore, this paper proposes the two-stage prediction method based on the integrated transport OD survey, including the prediction of the integrated transport OD matrix generation of the status quo and the distribution of integrated transport demand. Then it utilizes the GISDK development tools to develop a prediction system for the integrated transport demand in the TransCAD platform.

To predict the passenger travel sharing rate in the inter-city comprehensive passenger traffic channels, the passenger transport properties of the inter-city comprehensive passenger transport channels were combined, variables with different characteristics were introduced into utility function, the application of Logit model was improved, the comprehensive passenger transport channels of Guangzhou-Huizhou, Shenzhen-Huizhou, Dongguan-Huizhou were taken as examples to conduct the prediction applications of the passenger travel sharing in the railway passenger transportation, highway passenger transportation and non-commercial transportation. The results showed that the improved model could effectively carry out the passenger travel share prediction in inter-city comprehensive passenger transport channels.

There are several misunderstandings in the current forecasting methods of integrated traffic demand in China, seriously impacting on the forecasting accuracy of integrated traffic demand. Starting from systems theory and the adaptive theory of traffic and economic development and combined with characteristics of integrated transportation demand, this paper proposes the innovative thinking of the analytical techniques and methods of integrated traffic demand in the future and the forecasting methods of integrated passenger and cargo transport demand as well as the model approach of the structure forecasting of transport demand. Finally, it comes to the conclusion that the analysis and forecasting of integrated transport demand should focus on the adaptation of integrated transport and economic and social development and the application of systems theory approach to carry on innovation.

Based on the concept of “integrated transportation”, this paper utilizes the collaborative theory, complex system theory and transport economics theory to analyze the matching relationship between the transportation hub and corridor from a macro perspective. Meanwhile, it also explores the coordination of their transport capability, transport organization, etc., from the microscopic point of view, ultimately achieving the theoretical integration and harmonization of the connection and layout of the integrated transport hub and corridor.

Based on the demand characteristics of highway service area, this paper studies the basis of the highway service area infrastructure layout and site-selection, and has established some mathematical models to maximize the benefits and outcome, and also put them into practice by combining study project.

Based on the study on the bus passenger stations and transportation departments of numerous provinces, the working status of the safety inspection of dangerous goods in China's bus passenger stations is analyzed and the problems in that safety inspection are summarized in this paper. Whats more, work specifications of dangerous goods inspection in the bus passenger station of China are studied and analyzed, and corresponding proposals and measures are proposed.

This paper conducts an in-depth research on applications reliability in highway network planning and optimization of construction sequence. It introduces the concept of reliability to the layout of the importance of the road network node and establishes a fairly comprehensive theoretical method of highway network planning based on the reliability from the aspects of the road network layout, evaluation, and construction sequence arrangements. Case study illustrates the proposed layout optimization method has achieved satisfactory results in the road network reliability analysis, displaying strong practical promotional value.

This paper seeks to build new park and ride facilities (including the location and size) as well as expand the old ones based on the super road network composed of the road network and mass rapid transit (MRT) network. Park and ride facility location model of the outskirts of the city is established grounded infusing path-based user equilibrium assignment model and multi-assignment method, which is based on minimal investments. The calculation results of the model show that park and ride facilities on the outskirts of the city can greatly reduce the road traffic in central area.

The research on the reliability of highway network connectivity has important significance in the western region. According to the characteristics of western mountainous highway, this paper sets up the reliability evaluation idea of highway network connectivity from the section to the route, from the route to the road network, and establishes the reliability evaluation model of the connectivity of section, route and road network based on the analysis of highway unit reliability. The research results provide the theoretical basis for western mountainous road network planning and construction as well as disaster-resistance and disaster-prevention countermeasures of highway system.

The public participation in evaluating the rail transit P&R facilities is beneficial for enhancing the objectivity of the evaluation and reflecting the social equity to the greatest degree, so that the decision-making can be more people-oriented. Based on the analysis of the P&R travelling features of sedan cars and the transfer facilities service level, this paper, from the perspective of the public evaluation, makes a structural equation model which shows the evaluation of sedan car travelers toward the transfer efficiency of rail transit P&R facilities and elaborates the identification, fitting, correction and applications of the model.

Interchange entrance area is the key point which affects the overall operational reliability of an Interchange. In order to alleviate the crowded ramp merging area, improve the overall reliability of the interchange and improve traffic safety, when traffic demand increases to a certain extent, traffic control strategies should be used. According of the characteristics of the interchange ramp entrance area, the control strategy of interchange and the mainline which affect the reliability of high-speed road network most has been researched. Analyzing the geometric and traffic characteristics of the ramp merging area, different control strategies on the ramp and the mainline are proposed, that is ramp access control strategy and the main line lane running constraint strategy.

As for the current background that China sets off a new round of urban rail transit development, the paper in-depth analyzes the differences in running characteristics and technical features between urban rail transmission and conventional public transportation, and explores functional coordinated complementary relationship and necessity of integrated planning of urban rail transmission and conventional public transportation. Then, the principles, main contents and safeguard mechanism of coordinated planning of integration of urban rail transit and conventional public transportation can be concluded and summarized in order to provide theoretical support for realizing the efficiency and convenience of urban public transportation system.

Comprehensive transportation is the key point of all countries. Passenger and cargo transport pay attention on seamless connection and transfer. The paper discussed the state-of-the-art at home and abroad, and the state-of-the-art of the railway-highway intermodality , train-and-bus intermodality , air-railway intermodality , and highwayshipping intermodality of domestic airlines. The paper also discussed the abroad intermodality situation from operating level and research level. Through comparative study, problems were found in the field of intermodality , then intermodality demand is analyzed, at last, the orientation of the future passenger intermodality . The six aspects of supply property aiming at public transportation that passengers take into consideration are security, comfortableness, convenience, rapidity, punctuality and economical efficiency. Starting from those aspects, calculation method and means of expression can be given and model for fuzzy chance constrained programming which serves as a solution for individual passenger intention can be set up. Then, fuzzy simulative genetic algorithm is adopted for the model. Theoretically, the research findings obtained form an integrated system for solving the issue of passengers’ travel intention.

There are two main urban transport analysis methods: the micro analysis and the macro analysis. Macro analysis primarily discusses the system composition from the perspective of system long terms and overall optimization, which mainly provides scientific planning for decision-makers. However, the micro analysis mainly analyzes the three parameters such as flow, speed, and density of traffic flow. Urban transport is a complex technical engineering system with strong sociality. Therefore, the two methods should be closely linked and mutually restrained. This paper makes an effort on this linkage. Firstly, speed is selected as the connecting parameter of micro-macro level planning. Then, the paper introduces the detailed steps of parameter calibration between travel time and traffic demand increments based on VISUM. It also illustrates this concept with a real integrated traffic and transportation planning program of Madrid, Spain. Finally, feasibility and practicality of this idea and can be drawn from the results.
