Background Methods Results Conclusions Although excessive opioid use is a significant global health issue, there is a lack of literature on the prescribing patterns for postoperative opioid use and exposure after discharge among surgical patients. This study aimed to examine the rate and predictors of opioid dispensing and high opioid exposure after hospital discharge from surgery in New Zealand (NZ) between January 2007 to December 2019.This is a retrospective population‐based cohort study inclusive of all ages and surgical specialties. Data were obtained from the NZ Ministry of Health's national health databases.1 781 059 patients were included in the study and 20.9% (n = 371 882) of surgical patients received opioids within 7 days after hospital discharge. From those who were dispensed with opioids after hospital discharge, 36.6% (n = 134 646) had high opioid exposure. Orthopaedic surgery (AOR 6.97; 95% CI 6.82–7.13) and history of opioid use (AOR 3.18; 95% CI 2.86–3.53) increased the odds of postoperative opioid dispensing and high opioid exposure respectively. Severe multi‐morbidity burden (AOR 0.76; 95% CI 0.73–0.78) and alcohol misuse (AOR 0.84; 95% CI 0.77–0.93) lowered the odds of postoperative opioid dispensing and high opioid exposure respectively.Our findings suggest a concerning rate of high opioid exposure among surgical patients after discharge. The predictors for postoperative opioid dispensing and high opioid exposure identified in our study provide insight into opioid prescribing patterns in NZ and inform future postoperative pain management. Room-temperature sodium–sulfur (RT Na–S) batteries have the drawbacks of the poor shuttle effect of soluble sodium polysulfides (NaPSs) as well as slow sulfur redox kinetics, which result in poor cycling stability and low capacity, seriously affecting their extensive application. Herein, defect engineering is applied to construct rich oxygen vacancies at the interface of a TiO2 anatase/rutile homojunction (OV-TRA) to enhance sulfur affinity and redox reaction kinetics. Combining structural characterizations with electrochemical analysis reveals that OV-TRA well alleviates the shuttle effect of NaPSs and precipitates the deposition and diffusion kinetics of Na2S. Consequently, S/OV-TRA provides excellent electrochemical performance with a reversible capacity of 870 mA h g−1 at 0.1 C after 100 cycles and a long-term cycling capability of 759 mA h g−1 at 1 C after 1000 cycles. The linear and weakly nonlinear stability of viscoelastic film flowing down a slippery inclined plane is investigated analytically. Under the assumption of the long wave approximation, the first-order Benny equation of Oldroyd-B fluid thin film with slip condition is obtained. Through the normal mode analysis, the neutral stability curve and the temporal growth rates are calculated to explore the linear stability of the film. Linear results show that the critical Reynolds number decreases with the increase in slip length and viscoelastic parameter and that the liquid film may exhibit pure elastic instability. For the nonlinear stability analysis, both hydrodynamic instability and elastic instability are discussed. The primary bifurcations in the phase plane are identified by calculating the Landau coefficient, i.e., the unconditional stable region, the supercritical region, the subcritical region, and the explosive region. The dependence of primary bifurcation regions upon the slip length and Deborah number are studied, and the results indicate that the slip boundary and viscoelasticity destabilizes the flow. [Display omitted] Abnormal hyperphosphorylation and accumulation of tau protein play a pivotal role in neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and many other tauopathies. Selective elimination of hyperphosphorylated tau is promising for the therapy of these diseases. We have conceptualized a strategy, named dephosphorylation-targeting chimeras (DEPTACs), for specifically hijacking phosphatases to tau to debilitate its hyperphosphorylation. Here, we conducted the step-by-step optimization of each constituent motif to generate DEPTACs with reasonable effectiveness in facilitating the dephosphorylation and subsequent clearance of pathological tau. Specifically, for one of the selected chimeras, D16, we demonstrated its significant efficiency in rescuing the neurodegeneration caused by neurotoxic K18-tau seeds in vitro. Moreover, intravenous administration of D16 also alleviated tau pathologies in the brain and improved memory deficits in AD mice. Background: The objective of this research was to create and validate an interpretable prediction model for drug-induced liver injury (DILI) during tuberculosis (TB) treatment. Methods: A dataset of TB patients from Ningbo City was used to develop models employing the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), random forest (RF), and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic algorithms. The model's performance was evaluated through various metrics, including the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) and the area under the precision recall curve (AUPR) alongside the decision curve. The Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) method was used to interpret the variable contributions of the superior model. Results: A total of 7,071 TB patients were identified from the regional healthcare dataset. The study cohort consisted of individuals with a median age of 47 years, 68.0% of whom were male, and 16.3% developed DILI. We utilized part of the high dimensional propensity score (HDPS) method to identify relevant variables and obtained a total of 424 variables. From these, 37 variables were selected for inclusion in a logistic model using LASSO. The dataset was then split into training and validation sets according to a 7:3 ratio. In the validation dataset, the XGBoost model displayed improved overall performance, with an AUROC of 0.89, an AUPR of 0.75, an F1 score of 0.57, and a Brier score of 0.07. Both SHAP analysis and XGBoost model highlighted the contribution of baseline liver-related ailments such as DILI, drug-induced hepatitis (DIH), and fatty liver disease (FLD). Age, alanine transaminase (ALT), and total bilirubin (Tbil) were also linked to DILI status. Conclusion: XGBoost demonstrates improved predictive performance compared to RF and LASSO logistic in this study. Moreover, the introduction of the SHAP method enhances the clinical understanding and potential application of the model. Second harmonic generation (SHG) as an essential nonlinear optical effect, has gradually shifted its research trend toward the integration and miniaturization of photonic and optoelectronic on‐chip devices in recent years. 2D layered materials (2DLMs) open up a new research paradigm of nonlinear optics due to their large second‐order susceptibility, atomically thin structure, and perfect phase‐matching. However, 2DLMs are facing a bottleneck of weak SHG conversion efficiency limit caused by short light–matter interaction lengths at a nanoscale. Moreover, advances in integrated on‐chip SHG devices based on 2DLMs rely on the continuing development of novel strategies with tunable and efficient SHG responses. Here, this review provides a comprehensive overview of recent progress in exploring highly efficient and tunable SHG responses in 2DLMs. Various modulation and enhancement strategies for the SHG response of 2DLMs are extensively studied and systematically discussed, which can be classified into two categories: symmetry breaking and light‐matter interaction enhancement. Moreover, remaining challenges and outlooks toward further extending and realizing the practical applications of 2DLMs in nonlinear on‐chip integrated devices with SHG modulation and enhancement characteristics are discussed. Background: Although socioeconomic factors are important determinants of population mortality, the effect of educational level on the survival of patients with cancer in China is unclear. This study aimed to assess whether educational level is associated with the prognosis of patients with cancer and to explore the mediators of this association. Methods: This multicentre cohort study included 18,251 patients diagnosed with cancer between May 2013 and December 2018. The main parameters measured were overall survival (OS) and all‐cause mortality. The relationship between educational level and all‐cause mortality was assessed using multifactor‐corrected Cox survival analysis. Logistic regression was used to analyze the association between educational level and patient‐generated subjective global assessment (PG‐SGA). Results: The mean age of the 18,251 participants (men, 9939 [54.4%]) was 57.37 ± 11.66 years. Multifactorial survival analysis showed that patients survived longer with increasing education (university and above vs. elementary school and below; p = p = <0.001, HR = 0.84, 95% CI: 0.77–0.92), and the differences were statistically significant in different subgroups. The potential impact factors included sex, age, TNM stage, and PG‐SGA score. Logistic regression showed a significant negative association between educational level and the modifiable factor PG‐SGA (secondary vs. primary and below; p = 0.004, HR = 0.90, 95% CI: 0.83–0.97; university and above vs. primary and below; p < 0.001, HR = 0.79, 95% CI: 0.71–0.88). Conclusions: Educational level was a significant prognostic factor for patients with cancer, independent of other known prognostic factors. Alginate is an important polysaccharide that is abundant in the marine environments, including the Polar Regions, and bacterial alginate lyases play key roles in its degradation. Many reported alginate lyases show characteristics of cold-adapted enzymes, including relatively low temperature optimum of activities (Topt) and low thermal stabilities. However, the cold-adaption mechanisms of alginate lyases remain unclear. Here, we studied the cold-adaptation mechanisms of alginate lyases by comparing four members of the PL7 family from different environments: AlyC3 from the Arctic ocean (Psychromonas sp. C-3), AlyA1 from the temperate ocean (Zobellia galactanivorans), PA1167 from the human pathogen (Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1), and AlyQ from the tropic ocean (Persicobacter sp. CCB-QB2). Sequence comparison and comparative molecular dynamics (MD) simulations revealed two main strategies of cold adaptation. First, the Arctic AlyC3 and temperate AlyA1 increased the flexibility of the loops close to the catalytic center by introducing insertions at these loops. Second, the Arctic AlyC3 increased the electrostatic attractions with the negatively charged substrate by introducing a high portion of positively charged lysine at three of the insertions mentioned above. Furthermore, our study also revealed that the root mean square fluctuation (RMSF) increased greatly when the temperature was increased to Topt or higher, suggesting the RMSF increase temperature as a potential indicator of the cold adaptation level of the PL7 family. To evaluate the effect of stent implantation for vertebrobasilar artery stenosis，by using 3D arterial spin labeling (3D ASL) technique. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical and 3D ASL data of 48 patients who underwent vertebral-basilar artery stenting. Post-labeling delay times (PLD) of 1.5 s and 2.5 s were chosen, and the average regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) values were measured in nine brain regions of the posterior circulation: bilateral thalamus, bilateral occipital lobes, bilateral cerebellar hemispheres, midbrain, pons, and medulla. The 48 patients were divided into two groups based on the presence or absence of acute ischemic stroke in the posterior cerebral circulation region detected by diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). The preoperative and postoperative rCBF results were statistically analyzed. In the infarct group, there were significant increases in rCBF values of all nine brain regions at both PLD = 1.5 s and 2.5 s postoperatively compared to preoperatively. At PLD = 1.5 s, statistically significant differences in rCBF values between the preoperative and postoperative periods were found in the right thalamus, left cerebellum, midbrain, and pons regions (P < 0.05). At PLD = 2.5 s, statistically significant differences in rCBF values between the preoperative and postoperative periods were observed in the left occipital lobe, right cerebellum, midbrain, and pons regions (P < 0.05). When analyzing the rCBF values of the brain regions with recent infarcts in the infarct group, there was a significant increase in postoperative rCBF values compared to preoperative values (P < 0.05). After excluding the data from brain regions with recent infarcts, the CBF values in the remaining brain regions were also increased postoperatively, and some brain regions showed statistically significant differences in rCBF values between the preoperative and postoperative periods (P < 0.05). In the non-infarct group, there were no statistically significant differences in the preoperative and postoperative rCBF values in all brain regions at both PLD = 1.5 s and 2.5 s (P > 0.05). The application of 3D ASL technology shows significant value in assessing the surgical efficacy of vertebral-basilar artery stenting, especially in patients with acute posterior circulation infarction. Water damage is one of the major distresses of asphalt pavements. Existing methods for investigating the water stability of asphalt mixtures rely primarily on static water test methods, the tensile strength ratio (TSR) test, and the retained Marshall stability (RMS) test, which evaluate the strength and stability loss after freeze-thaw damage or hot water immersion, respectively. However, these methods do not accurately replicate the actual dynamic water damage conditions to pavement. Therefore, in this study, a variety of damage conditions, including static water conditions and dynamic water pressure conditions, were used to investigate the effects of lignin fibers (LFs), polyester fibers (PFs), and polypropylene fibers (PPFs) on the water stability of asphalt mixtures. First, three fibers-enhanced SMA gap-gradation asphalt mixtures were designed. Then, TSR and RMS were measured under traditional static water damage conditions and new dynamic water pressure damage conditions to evaluate the effect of fiber types on the water stability of asphalt mixtures. Finally, the void rate of asphalt mixtures and its changes under dynamic water damage conditions were further revealed with the help of CT scanning technique. Results showed that, among these three types of fibers, PFs-enhanced asphalt mixture exhibited excellent stability under both static and dynamic water conditions, and the CT scanning test also indicated that the PFs can significantly reduce the increase rate of voids in asphalt mixtures after dynamic water pressure damage. Tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) are key components of the tumor microenvironment, and their different polarization states play multiple roles in tumors by secreting cytokines, chemokines, and so on, which are closely related to tumor development. In addition, the enrichment of TAMs is often associated with poor prognosis of tumors. Thus, targeting TAMs is a potential tumor treatment strategy, in which therapeutic approaches such as reducing TAMs numbers, remodeling TAMs phenotypes, and altering their functions are being extensively investigated. Meanwhile, the ubiquitin–proteasome system (UPS), an important mechanism of protein hydrolysis in eukaryotic cells, participates in cellular processes by regulating the activity and stability of key proteins. Interestingly, UPS plays a dual role in the process of tumor development, and its role in TAMs deserve to be investigated in depth. Purpose: Previous reports argue that preoperative sleep conditions of patients can influence the dosage of general anaesthesia drugs. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the dose-effect relationship of preoperative sleep disorders on the induction of general anaesthesia with remimazolam tosilate and calculate the Median effective (ED50) and 95% effective (ED95) dosages. Methods: Included in our study were 56 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy at our hospital. A separate group of 27 patients with sleep disorders (SD group) and 29 patients without sleep disorders (NSD group) using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were also included. According to the Dixon 'up-and-down' design, patients received remimazolam at preselected concentrations starting at 0.2 mg/kg. After the administration of remimazolam, loss of consciousness was observed. By observing whether consciousness disappeared within a minute, we adjusted the dose of remimazolam by 0.1 mg/kg (up and down) in the following patient. The Median effective dose (ED50), 95% effective dose (ED95), and 95% confidence interval (CI) of remimazolam for effective sedation were calculated. Results: The ED50 of remimazolam was 0.226 mg/kg (95%CI 0.221–0.232 mg/kg) in the SD group and 0.191 mg/kg (95%CI, 0.183–0.199 mg/kg) in the NSD group. The ED95 of remimazolam was 0.237 mg/kg (95%CI 0.231–0.262 mg/kg) in the SD group and 0.209 mg/kg (95%CI 0.200–0.254 mg/kg) in the NSD group. Conclusions: In the SD group, the ED50 and ED95 of remimazolam during anaesthesia induction were 0.226 and 0.237 mg/kg, respectively. The induction dose of remimazolam in the SD group was significantly higher than that in the NSD group. In computer simulation-based interactive tasks, different people make different response processes to the same tasks, resulting in various action sequences. These sequences contain rich information, not only about respondents, but also about tasks. In this study, we propose a state response (SR) measurement model with a Bayesian approach for analyzing the process sequences, which assumes that each action made is determined by the individual's problem-solving ability and the easiness of the current problem state. This model is closer to reality compared with the action sub-model (referred to as DC model) of Chen's (2020) continuous-time dynamic choice (CTDC) measurement model that defines the easiness parameter only at the task level and ignores the task's process characteristics. The simulation study showed that the SR model performed well in parameter estimation. Moreover, the estimation accuracy of the SR model was quite similar to that of the DC model when state easiness parameters were equal within the task, but was much higher when within-task state easiness parameters were unequal. For the empirical data from the Program for International Student Assessment 2012, the SR model showed better model fit than the DC model. The estimates for state easiness parameters within each task were obviously different and made sense for characterizing task steps, further demonstrating the rationality of the proposed SR model. This study bridges finance and physics by applying thermodynamic concepts to model the limit order book (LOB) with high-frequency trading data on the Bitcoin spot. We derive the measures of Market Temperature and Market Entropy from the kinetic and potential energies in the LOB to provide a deeper understanding of order activities and market participant behavior. Market Temperature emerges as a robust indicator of market liquidity, correlating with liquidity measures such as Active Quote Volume, bid–ask spread and match volume. Market Entropy, on the other hand, quantifies the degree of disorder or randomness in the LOB, providing insights into the instantaneous volatility of price in the high-frequency trading market. Our empirical findings not only broaden the theoretical framework of econophysics but also enhance comprehensive understanding of the market microstructure and order book dynamics. Background. The global impact of coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) has raised concerns about the management of psoriasis patients, especially among those using biologics. Methods. We conducted a survey-based research among Omicron-infected (confirmed, probable, and suspected ones) psoriasis patients in the department of dermatology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, from January 9th to January 22nd, 2023. We collected demographic and clinical information (psoriasis- and COVID-19-related) and conducted statistics analysis. Results. Of the 240 patients enrolled, they were classified by the psoriatic treatment, as biologics (n = 138), nonbiological systematic treatment (n = 52), and topical treatment or without pharmacological treatment (n = 50). This study showed the characteristics of Omicron-related symptoms and cutaneous signs in patients. We observed that patients who received topical treatment or without pharmacological treatment had a lower risk of presenting with COVID-19 symptoms in the fully adjusted logistic model (OR = 0.40, 95% CI: 0.18–0.90, and P = 0.025). Moreover, in the model for skin manifestations, nonbiological systematic treatment (OR = 2.15, 95% CI: 1.08–4.27, and P = 0.029) and high BMI (OR = 1.10, 95% CI: 1.00–1.20, and P = 0.042) were correlative factors. Conclusions. Our data suggested that differential psoriatic treatment might be a correlative factor in developing symptomatic or asymptomatic Omicron infection and presenting cutaneous signs. The activated carbon from coconut shell has been treated with oxalic acid to enhance its capability to adsorb Cr(VI) ions from waste water. The experiments manifest that the uptake of Cr(VI) at equilibrium on the best carbon prepared by immersing activated carbon in 0.5 mol l−1 oxalic acid solution at 60°C for 24 h, followed by being calcined at 500°C in nitrogen for 2 h is 10.52 mg g−1 while that on the original one is 7.80 mg g−1. FT-IR, XPS and Boehm titration characterisation demonstrate that the treatment with oxalic acid results in the increase of carboxyl and phenolic hydroxyl groups on the carbon. BET determination demonstrates that the treatment with oxalic acid produces more micropores and mesopores. Background: Insulin resistance (IR) and systemic inflammation are common in patients with cancer and are associated with poor prognosis. Few studies have reported IR in female reproductive system malignancies. This study investigated the prognostic value of IR and systemic inflammation in this population. Methods: A prospective multicenter real‐world cohort study involving 571 patients diagnosed with female reproductive system malignancies was conducted. Lipid ratios (low‐density lipoprotein‐cholesterol/high‐density lipoprotein‐cholesterol [LHR], total cholesterol/HDL‐cholesterol [TCHR], triglyceride/HDL‐cholesterol [TGHR], fasting triglyceride/glucose [TyG]) were used to reflect IR. Optimal cut‐off values were determined using maximally selected rank statistics. The Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression were used to calculate the hazard ratios for overall survival. Results: Over half (55.90%) of the 571 patients with female reproductive system malignancies (mean age: 52 years) had cervical cancer. Both IR and inflammation were negatively correlated with overall survival in female reproductive system cancer patients. Multivariate survival analysis showed that patients with high LHR (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.51, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.01–2.25, p =.046), high TCHR (HR: 1.90, 95% CI:1.22–2.95, p =.005), high TGHR (HR: 1.66, 95% CI:1.17–2.36, p =.004), high TyG (HR: 1.64, 95% CI:1.13–2.40, p =.010), high neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR, HR: 2.03, 95% CI:1.44–2.86, p =.004) were significantly associated with worse prognosis. By calculating the concordance index of the four IR surrogate indicators, TyG was the most valuable indicator for the prognosis of patients with malignant tumors of the female reproductive system. High TyG combined with high NLR had improved prognostic value (HR: 3.22, 95% CI: 1.97–5.26, p <.001). Conclusions: IR can be used as an independent predictor of prognosis in the female reproductive system malignancy population regardless of the IR substitution index. This paper provides an updated checklist of eriophyoid mites found in China, including 1340 named species and a new synonym: Calvittacus spectabilus Yin, Lu, Liu & Xue, 2022, synonym of Vittacus bougainvilleae (Keifer, 1959). The top ten speciose genera are Aceria (81 species), Tetra (71 species), Diptilomiopus (68 species), Phyllocoptes (58 species), Diptacus (57 species), Tegolophus (53 species), Aculus (52 species), Rhyncaphytoptus (50 species), Calepitrimerus (50 species), and Epitrimerus (42 species). The finite-amplitude instability of the natural convection in a vertical porous slab filled with variable permeability porous medium is investigated analytically. The side walls of the slab are kept at different temperatures, and the permeability in the horizontal direction is assumed to be exponential heterogeneous models. Two-dimensional, finite-amplitude solutions for the thermal buoyant flow are obtained for Darcy–Rayleigh numbers close to the critical values by using the amplitude expansion method. The dependence of the fundamental mode, the distortion of the mean flow, and the second harmonic upon the variable permeability constant are discussed. By calculating the first Landau coefficient, the primary bifurcations in the vicinity of the neutral stability curves are identified. The results show that only supercritical bifurcations are found to occur, rather than subcritical instabilities. Background: Delay in type II alveolar epithelial cell (AECII) regeneration has been linked to higher mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, the interaction between Doublecortin-like kinase 1 (DCLK1) and the Hippo signaling pathway in ARDS-associated AECII differentiation remains unclear. Therefore, the objective of this study was to understand the role of the DCLK1/Hippo pathway in mediating AECII differentiation in ARDS. Materials and methods: AECII MLE-12 cells were exposed to 0, 0.1, or 1 μg/mL of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for 6 and 12 h. In the mouse model, C57BL/6JNarl mice were intratracheally (i.t.) injected with 0 (control) or 5 mg/kg LPS and were euthanized for lung collection on days 3 and 7. Results: We found that LPS induced AECII markers of differentiation by reducing surfactant protein C (SPC) and p53 while increasing T1α (podoplanin) and E-cadherin at 12 h. Concurrently, nuclear YAP dynamic regulation and increased TAZ levels were observed in LPS-exposed AECII within 12 h. Inhibition of YAP consistently decreased cell levels of SPC, claudin 4 (CLDN-4), galectin 3 (LGALS-3), and p53 while increasing transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) at 6 h. Furthermore, DCLK1 expression was reduced in isolated human AECII of ARDS, consistent with the results in LPS-exposed AECII at 6 h and mouse SPC-positive (SPC+) cells after 3-day LPS exposure. We observed that downregulated DCLK1 increased p-YAP/YAP, while DCLK1 overexpression slightly reduced p-YAP/YAP, indicating an association between DCLK1 and Hippo-YAP pathway. Conclusions: We conclude that DCLK1-mediated Hippo signaling components of YAP/TAZ regulated markers of AECII-to-AECI differentiation in an LPS-induced ARDS model. Apart from cancer, metabolic reprogramming is also prevalent in other diseases, such as bacterial infections. Bacterial infections can affect a variety of cells, tissues, organs, and bodies, leading to a series of clinical diseases. Common Pathogenic bacteria include Helicobacter pylori, Salmonella enterica, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Staphylococcus aureus, and so on. Amino acids are important and essential nutrients in bacterial physiology and support not only their proliferation but also their evasion of host immune defenses. Many pathogenic bacteria or opportunistic pathogens infect the host and lead to significant changes in metabolites, especially the proteinogenic amino acids, to inhibit the host's immune mechanism to achieve its immune evasion and pathogenicity. Here, we review the regulation of host metabolism, while host cells are infected by some common pathogenic bacteria, and discuss how amino acids of metabolic reprogramming affect bacterial infections, revealing the potential adjunctive application of amino acids alongside antibiotics. This study aims to investigate influencing factors of quality of life (QoL) and depression among COVID-19 survivors during convalescence. A cross-sectional study was conducted in November 2020 in Wuhan, China. Information on social support, physical activity, QoL and depressive symptoms were assessed using self-administered questionnaires. Multivariate linear regression and multivariate logistic regression were used to assess the risk factors of subdomains of QoL (physical component score (PCS) and mental component score (MCS)) and depression, respectively. A total of 151 COVID-19 survivors (68 males) aged 53.21 (SD: 12.70) years participated in the study. Multivariate linear regression showed that age (β=−0.241), history of chronic disease (β=−0.4.774), physical activity (β = 2.47) and social support (β = 0.147) were significantly associated with PCS, while having a spouse (β = 9.571), monthly income (β = 0.043) and social support (β = 0.337) were significantly associated with MCS. Logistic regression suggested that participants aged 40–60 years (OR = 10.20, 95%CI: 1.41–73.82) or above 60 years (OR = 15.63, 95%CI: 1.87–131.00), with high school or above education (OR = 5.81, 95%CI: 1.24–27.20), with low/moderate physical activity (low, OR = 2.97, 95%CI: 1.14–7.77; moderate, OR = 3.42, 95%CI: 1.07–10.91) and low/medium social support (low, OR = 4.81, 95% CI: 2.02–11.43; medium, OR = 9.70, 95%CI: 1.17–80.10) were more likely to be depressed, while higher monthly income (≥3000 Yuan RMB/month) was associated with lower risk for depression (OR = 0.27, 95%CI: 0.09–0.82). These findings indicate COVID-19 survivors with older age, having chronic conditions, without a spouse, low monthly income, low level of physical activity and social support had significantly increased risks for poor QoL and depression, and more attention should be given to this population. Introduction: The utilization of biologics in patients with psoriasis with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) has garnered significant attention. Although the tuberculosis (TB) safety profile of second-generation biologics, including secukinumab, has been partially confirmed in both clinical trials and real-world studies, the necessity for prophylactic therapy in patients with LTBI prior to administering this class of biologics remains a topic of controversy. Methods: This study enrolled 62 patients with psoriasis with LTBI who underwent secukinumab with routine TB reexamination. Patients were divided into two groups based on whether they received antituberculosis therapy (ATB; n = 48) or not (NTB; n = 16). We performed a propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis between ATB and NTB subgroups and retrospectively reviewed their interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA) and radiographic results. Results: No active TB case was reported on the basis of medical records and chest radiographs in either two group. Before PSM, the mean reexamining IGRA value was significantly elevated in patients who received prophylactic therapy (P = 0.00), but no significant increase was observed in patients who were not. After PSM, there was no significant IGRA value enhancement whether or not patients received prophylactic treatment. Conclusion: Our data provide additional information on the safety profile of secukinumab in patients with psoriasis with LTBI. Furthermore, our presentation of the reexamined IGRA results revealed no significant elevation in the ATB or NTB group. As such, we believe further exploration is necessary to determine whether anti-TB medication is required prior to administering secukinumab. This study enrolled patients with psoriasis with latent tuberculosis infection who underwent secukinumab with routine tuberculosis reexamination. Then, the patients were divided into two groups based on whether they received antituberculosis therapy and not. We observed that neither of these two groups presented tuberculosis activation cases. We also matched patients who received antituberculosis therapy and those who did not. The interferon-gamma release assay showed no significant increase after balancing the baseline. The magnification effect provided by gravitational lensing overcomes the limitations of current observation instruments, allowing researchers to study faint objects at high redshift (z ≈ 4). Over the last decades, the sample of strong lenses has been mostly confined to optical bands. With the advent of (sub)millimeter wide field extragalactic surveys, about 200 strong lenses have been discovered in (sub)millimeter bands. Observations with high resolution and sensitivity from ALMA, NOEMA, and SMA, coupled with the flux boost from strong lensing, provide new windows to study galaxies at high redshift. Many works have investigated topics such as star formation, interstellar medium, and dynamic properties. The main objective of this paper is to review the current research status of galaxy-galaxy lensing in (sub)millimeter bands from the perspectives of observation samples, modeling methods, and scientific applications. Using coarse‐grained molecular dynamics simulations, the conformation and dynamic behavior of ring polymer chains in ring/linear blends confined into cylinders are studied. By changing the particle number density, polymer chain bending energy and length, the spatial distribution of rings in the constrained binary polymer blends is investigated. An ordered tubular structure composed of several quasi‐parallel rings is observed. The mean square displacement of the center‐of‐mass of ring chains and its diffusion coefficient are analyzed. The results indicate that the diffusion behavior of rings is transformed from inhibition to promotion as the increase of linear chain bending energy. Objective: The C-reactive protein-albumin-lymphocyte (CALLY) index is a new index related to inflammation, immunity, and nutrition. We investigated whether it can predict the prognosis of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and developed a prognostic model including CALLY index. Research methods and procedures: Data from patients with NSCLC who were followed up in the INSCOC database from May 2013 to December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. Simple random sampling by splitting these patients into training (n = 1307) and validation cohorts (n = 557) resulted in a sample size ratio of 7:3. Using the results of COX regression analysis of the training cohort, a nomogram model for predicting 3- and 5-year overall survival (OS) was established and validated internally. The calibration and clinical decision curve were used to evaluate the prediction accuracy and clinical application ability of the nomogram and compared with the TNM staging system for lung cancer. Results: Sex, TNM stage, surgical treatment, BMI, CALLY, and HGS were independent risk factors for the prognosis of NSCLC patients. The OS of NSCLC patients with a low CALLY index score was significantly worse than that of patients with a high CALLY index (P < 0.001). The CALLY-based nomogram had a good predictive prognostic power, with a C-index of 0.697. Compared with the traditional TNM staging system, our prognostic nomogram had better resolution and accuracy in predicting the 3-year and 5-year OS. Decision curve analysis showed that this prognostic model has a clinical application value. Conclusions: The CALLY index is a valuable biomarker for evaluating the prognosis of patients with lung cancer. The nomogram based on the CALLY index is highly effective in predicting OS in patients with NSCLC. To solve the problem of sound field reconstruction with fewer measurement points, a sound field reconstruction method based on Bayesian compressive sensing is proposed. In this method, a sound field reconstruction model based on a combination of the equivalent source method and sparse Bayesian compressive sensing is established. The MacKay iteration of the relevant vector machine is used to infer the hyperparameters and estimate the maximum a posteriori probability of both the sound source strength and noise variance. The optimal solution for sparse coefficients with an equivalent sound source is determined to achieve the sparse reconstruction of the sound field. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method has higher accuracy over the entire frequency range compared to the equivalent source method, indicating a better reconstruction performance and wider frequency applicability with undersampling. Moreover, in environments with low signal-to-noise ratios, the proposed method exhibits significantly lower reconstruction errors than the equivalent source method, indicating a superior anti-noise performance and greater robustness in sound field reconstruction. The concerns about the health and environmental effects of the active ingredients in current sunscreens have spurred the enthusiasm for seeking out biosafe and efficient alternatives, especially from nature. However, the present improvement is generally associated with multistep, expensive nanotechnologies and complex formulations of multiple active ingredients for achieving efficient ultraviolet (UV) protection, and the absence of antioxidative activity and the dark color further hinder the practical application of these naturally sourced absorbers. Herein, a facile and efficient strategy is introduced to prepare a biocompatible, antioxidative and light-colored sunscreen solely from naturally reproducible tea polyphenols with only UVB absorption. We demonstrate that the Mannich condensation assembly of polyphenol nanoparticles gave rise to broadband UV shielding and enhanced extinction efficacy. These nanoparticles have strong antioxidative activities and offer a wide range of selections for particle-stabilized emulsion formulations with a cosmetically acceptable appearance and, most importantly, with good anti-UV performance and photostability under UV exposure. Favorable UV protection against inflammation, epidermal hyperplasia, and hyperkeratosis was achieved in an acute photodamage model. The particle-stabilized emulsions are also adhesive, water-resistant and comfortable to apply. This study lays the foundation for formulating polyphenol-based sunscreens, and the acquisition of broadband UV protection by molecular assembly of a UVB absorber is validated as an effective strategy to be beneficial for future UV absorber development. Introduction: This study aims to describe the demographic, clinical, laboratory, and ultrasonic characteristics of patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in the Psoriatic Arthritis cohort of West China Hospital. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we included patients diagnosed with PsA according to the Classification Criteria for Psoriatic Arthritis, collected their demographic information, medical histories, and treatments, evaluated all domains (skin and nail lesions, tenderness, swelling, enthesitis, dactylitis, and axial arthritis) related to PsA, and then performed descriptive statistical analyses of all data. Results: A total of 275 patients with PsA were included in this study. The ratio of male to female patients was 2.16:1. Skin lesions preceded arthritis in 86.5% of these patients with PsA with a mean interval of 10.1 years. The metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints, proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints of fingers, and sacroiliac joints are the most commonly involved sites of tenderness, swelling, and the spine, respectively. Among all comorbidities, fatty liver has the highest incidence with 33.1%. Finally, we noted that the mean disease duration of PsA was 4.2 years, suggesting a delay in the diagnosis of PsA. Conclusion: Our study proposes that the prevalent population of PsA are male patients with psoriasis over 40 years of age who have a long disease course. For patients with PsA, MCP, PIP joints of fingers, and sacroiliac joints are the most frequently affected anatomical sites. Systemic inflammatory responses caused by tumor cells play an important role in the occurrence and development of tumors. The aim of this study was to identify biomarkers that most accurately predict prognoses in patients with non-metastatic cancer and to evaluate their clinical significance when combined with muscle markers. This study retrospectively evaluated 2,797 cancer patients diagnosed with cancer at TNM stages I, II, and III. Lymphocyte-C-reactive protein ratio (LCR) in conjunction with calf circumference (CC) were used (or chosed) after evaluating the predictive value of 13 inflammatory marker combinations and five anthropometric indicators for patient outcomes using the C-index. The Kaplan–Meier method and Cox's proportional hazards regression modeling were used to analyze the individual and combined effects of these two potential biomarkers on overall survival. This study enrolled 1,604 men (57.3%) and 1,193 women (42.7%) with a mean age of 58.75 years. Among the 13 inflammatory nutritional indicators, the LCR was the most accurate predictor of prognoses in patients with non-metastatic cancer. After multifactorial adjustment, we found that low LCR had an adverse effect on overall survival (hazard ratio [HR]: 2.50; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.17, 2.88; P < 0.001). Low LCR combined with low CC was also shown to be an independent risk factor for poor overall survival (HR: 2.26; 95% CI: 1.80, 2.83; P < 0.001). Compared with LCR or CC alone, the combination of the two had greater prognostic value for patients with non-metastatic cancer. The LCR can be implemented as a useful biomarker to predict prognoses in patients with non-metastatic cancer. CC is the best anthropometric indicator of muscle loss in patients with non-metastatic cancer. The combination of LCR and CC can better predict the prognosis of patients with non-metastatic cancer, and can provide important information for clinicians to formulate diagnosis and treatment plans. Floral color change in diverse plants has been thought to be a visual signal reflecting changes in floral rewards, promoting pollinator foraging efficiency as well as plant reproductive success. It remains unclear whether olfactory signals co‐vary with floral color change. We investigated the production rhythms of floral scent and nectar associated with floral color change in Lonicera japonica. The flowers generally last 2–3 days. They are white on opening at night (N1) and become light yellow the following day (D1), yellow on the second night (N2), and golden on the second day of flowering (D2). Our measurements in the four stages indicated that nectar production decreased significantly from N1 and D1 to N2 and D2, tracking the floral color change. A total of 34 compounds were detected in floral scent and total scent emission was significantly higher in N2 than in the other three stages. The scent emission of three major compounds, Linalool, cis‐3‐Hexenyl tiglate, and Germacrene D was also significantly higher in N2, but the relative content of Linalool decreased gradually, cis‐3‐Hexenyl tiglate increased gradually, and the relative content of Germacrene D did not differ among the four measured stages. Greater scent emission by night than by day suggested a strong olfactory signal to attract nocturnal hawkmoths, the effective pollinators. However, floral scent rhythms in the four stages did not match the color change and nectar secretion, suggesting that floral color (visual) and scent (olfactory) in this species may play different roles in attracting or filtering various visitors. The selection of appropriate grapevine trellis systems is of great importance for regulating vine vigor, forming grape yield, improving fruit quality, and labor-saving field management in the North China Plain. The effects of two trellis systems on the viticultural characteristics and fruit quality of three table grape cultivars: RuiduHongyu (RDHY), RuiduXiangyu (RDXY), and Red Globe (RG) were investigated. The two trellis systems were: (i) T trellis, with shoots positioned horizontally and downwards; and (ii) V trellis, with shoots positioned upright with an inclined angle. Headspace-solid-phase micro-extraction combined with gas chromatography mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) was used to determine the compositions and contents of the monoterpenes in the fruit. The results showed that for RDHY and RG, the T trellis showed better shoot growth consistency. The sugar–acid ratios of RDHY in 2019 and RDXY in 2021 under the T trellis were significantly higher than those under the V trellis. In 2020 and 2021, RDHY showed significantly higher total anthocyanin, flavonoid, and proanthocyanidin concentrations under the T trellis. The total monoterpene content in RDHY berries was significantly higher under the T trellis. The aromatic profiles of RDHY and RDXY grapes were similar and were mainly composed of citrus, other floral, other fruit, and rose aromatic characteristics. Among them, the main aromatic characteristics varied greatly among the different treatments. In conclusion, the Eurasian table grape cultivars with muscat flavor showed a more moderate and controllable vine vigor, consistent shoot growth, better fruit quality and taste, and greater accumulation of polyphenolic compounds and monoterpenes under the T trellis system. The reuse in high-value materials is one of the important resource utilization approaches of phosphorus tailings. At present, a mature technical system has been formed on the reuse of phosphorus slag in building materials, and silicon fertilizers in the extraction of yellow phosphorus. But there is a lack of research on the high-value reuse of phosphorus tailings. In order to make safe and effective utilization of phosphorus tailing resources, this research concentrated on how to solve easy agglomeration and difficult dispersion of phosphorus tailing micro-powder, when it was recycled in road asphalt. In the experimental procedure, phosphorus tailing micro-powder is treated in two methods. One method is to directly add it with different contents in asphalt to form a mortar. Dynamic shear tests were used to explore the effect of phosphorus tailing micro-powder on the high-temperature rheological properties of asphalt influence mechanism of material service behavior. The other method is to replace the mineral powder in asphalt mixture. The effect of phosphate tailing micro-powder on the water damage resistance in open-graded friction course (OGFC) asphalt mixtures was illustrated, based on the Marshall stability test and the freeze–thaw split test. The research results show that the performance indicators of the modified phosphorus tailing micro-powder meet the requirements for mineral powder in road engineering. Compared with standard OGFC asphalt mixtures, the residual stability of immersion and freeze–thaw splitting strength were improved when replace the mineral powder. The residual stability of immersion increased from 84.70% to 88.31%, and freeze–thaw splitting strength increased from 79.07% to 82.61%. The results indicate that phosphate tailing micro-powder has a certain positive effect on the water damage resistance. These performance improvements can be attributed to the larger specific surface area for phosphate tailing micro-powder than ordinary mineral powder, which can effectively adsorb asphalt and form structural asphalt. Early embryonic development depends on proper utilization and clearance of maternal transcriptomes. How these processes are spatiotemporally regulated remains unclear. Here we show that nuclear RNA‐binding protein Rbm14 and maternal mRNAs co‐phase separate into cytoplasmic condensates to facilitate vertebrate blastula‐to‐gastrula development. In zebrafish, Rbm14 condensates were highly abundant in blastomeres and markedly reduced after prominent activation of zygotic transcription. They concentrated at spindle poles by associating with centrosomal γ‐tubulin puncta and displayed mainly asymmetric divisions with a global symmetry across embryonic midline in 8‐ and 16‐cell embryos. Their formation was dose‐dependently stimulated by m6A, but repressed by m5C modification of the maternal mRNA. Furthermore, deadenylase Parn co‐phase separated with these condensates, and this was required for deadenylation of the mRNAs in early blastomeres. Depletion of Rbm14 impaired embryonic cell differentiations and full activations of the zygotic genome in both zebrafish and mouse and resulted in developmental arrest at the blastula stage. Our results suggest that cytoplasmic Rbm14 condensate formation regulates early embryogenesis by facilitating deadenylation, protection, and mitotic allocation of m6A‐modified maternal mRNAs, and by releasing the poly(A)‐less transcripts upon regulated disassembly to allow their re‐polyadenylation and translation or clearance. Synopsis: The mechanisms mediating the spatiotemporal control of maternal mRNA translational competence and decay remain largely unclear. In this study, maternal mRNAs in zebrafish and mouse embryos are shown to form condensates with the RNA binding protein Rbm14 for their deadenylation, sequestration, mitotic allocation, and timely release during early embryogenesis. This work investigates ethanol steam reforming (ESR) to produce hydrogen (H 2) in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor. A five-level, three-factor experiment design was performed using a response surface methodology (RSM) to evaluate the combined effects of the three process parameters, including discharge power, total flow rate, and ethanol-to-water (EtOH/H 2 O) molar ratio on the plasma-assisted ESR reaction. Quadratic regression models were employed in RSM to fit the experimental results and present the correlation between process parameters and targeted responses (EtOH conversion, H 2 yield, H 2 selectivity, and specific energy requirement (SER) for H 2 production). The results suggested that the EtOH/H 2 O molar ratio is considered to have the most significant effect on the EtOH conversion and H 2 , H 2 selectivity, while the total flow rate is the most significant parameter determining SER for H 2 production. Process optimization demonstrated the optimal process conditions, including a discharge power of 55.9 W, a total flow rate of 26.7 ml/min, and an EtOH/H 2 O molar ratio equal to 0.34. A validation test was performed and confirmed the feasibility of the optimization process. A series of proof-of-concept models with different degrees of hydration in the same donor–acceptor system were obtained through a functional motif-oriented structural design and screening strategy. The effect of water molecules on photoinduced electron transfer was explored from a crystallographic perspective for the first time. Granuloma polyangiitis (GPA) is a necrotizing granulomatous inflammation, which is a systemic autoimmune disease that mainly affects the upper respiratory tract, lungs, and kidneys. Clinically, the clinical manifestations of GPA vary greatly, and it is extremely easy to be misdiagnosed. We report a 60‐year‐old man with granulomatous polyangiitis with dysuria and parotid gland enlargement as the first symptom. As the condition worsened, he gradually developed symptoms in multiple systems such as persistent high fever, nosebleeds, hemoptysis, skin rash, and multiple cavities in the lungs. Due to high fever, hemoptysis, and the gradual expansion of lung cavities, the suspected hematogenous lung abscess was not well controlled and transferred to the respiratory department. The manifestation of involvement was finally confirmed by skin biopsy. Biopsy was performed on the skin of the lower extremities with a dark red rash with multiple microprojections. Pathology indicated neutrophilic infiltration and necrosis of small vessel walls, and granuloma formation. Blood anti‐protease 3 antibody (PR3) was positive Monotherapy with prednisone. Body temperature gradually returned to normal; hemoptysis and nasal bleeding disappeared; parotid gland enlargement and dysuria relieved, and lung cavities gradually reduced. When anti‐infective treatment is ineffective, we should consider the presence of some non‐infectious diseases, especially when multiple systems are involved; biopsy should be performed as soon as possible. Granulomatous polyangiitis has various manifestations. Parotid glands and prostate may also be the first organs involved, not limited to common targets such as the respiratory tract and kidneys. Strengthening environmental regulation (Reg) is an important measure to solve energy and environmental problems, then to realize the profit sustainable growth (Gro). Taking 116 listed renewable energy enterprises in China from 2010 to 2019 as samples, this paper uses FE and SYS-GMM models to examine the moderating effect of three types of Reg in the relationship of factor market distortions (Dist) and the Gro. The conclusions are as follows: For the direct impact, capital and labor market distortions (DistK and DistL) hinder the Gro. Specifically, the absolute value of the coefficient of DistK in state-owned enterprises (SOEs) is greater than that of the DistL, which indicates that the inhibitory effect of DistK in SOEs is more significant. For the indirect impact, the coefficients of economic and supervised environmental regulation (RegE and RegS) are positive and significant, and promote the Gro of SOEs and non-SOEs, while legal environmental regulation (RegL) is the opposite, which shows that Reg has significant "cost effect" and "rebound effect". Moreover, Reg has a positive moderating effect, which is mainly reflected in SOEs, and alleviates the inhibitory effect of DistK and DistL on Gro to a certain extent. Digital image processing has become the mainstream method for measuring aggregate morphologies. However, the results of the image method are seriously affected by the laying style of aggregates. This study proposes a morphological analysis method based on three‐dimensional curvature analysis. The results show that the values of maximum curvature and standard deviation of Gaussian curvature on the aggregate surface can be used to represent the angularity and texture, respectively. The relative ranking of methods according to the accuracy places the curvature method as the largest and the image method as the least, with the profile method falling in between. The proposed method could provide a new possibility to accurately quantify the aggregate morphologies and contribute to the design of the mixture. Better quality of asphalt pavement could be obtained by taking into account the comprehensive morphologies reported in this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In mammals, ovarian function is dependent on the primordial follicle pool and the rate of primordial follicle activation determines a female's reproductive lifespan. Ovarian ageing is characterised by chronic low‐grade inflammation with accelerated depletion of primordial follicles and deterioration of oocyte quality. Macrophages (Mφs) play critical roles in multiple aspects of ovarian functions; however, it remains unclear whether Mφs modulate the primordial follicle pool and what is their role in ovarian ageing. Here, by using super‐ or naturally ovulated mouse models, we demonstrated for the first time that ovulation‐induced local inflammation acted as the driver for selective activation of surrounding primordial follicles in each estrous cycle. This finding was related to infiltrating Mφs in ovulatory follicles and the dynamic changes of the two polarised Mφs, M1 and M2 Mφs, during the process. Further studies on newborn ovaries cocultured with different subtypes of Mφs demonstrated the stimulatory effect of M1 Mφs on primordial follicles, whereas M2 Mφs maintained follicles in a dormant state. The underlying mechanism was associated with the differential regulation of the Phosphatidylinositol 3‐kinase/Mechanistic target of rapamycin (PI3K/mTOR) signaling pathway through secreted extracellular vesicles (EVs) and the containing specific miRNAs miR‐107 (M1 Mφs) and miR‐99a‐5p (M2 Mφs). In aged mice, the intravenous injection of M2‐EVs improved ovarian function and ameliorated the inflammatory microenvironment within the ovary. We report a case of aggressive bullous pemphigoid (BP) concurrent with plaque psoriasis successfully treated with Janus kinase inhibitor Baricitinib. The 83‐year‐old Chinese man suffered 10 years of psoriasis and developed BP with typical intense blisters and significantly elevated serum anti‐BP180 autoantibodies. Due to concerns on his poor health conditions including stage III hypertension and potential serious side effects of standard treatment with systematic steroid, he was given Baricitinib orally 4 mg/day. Significant improvement in skin lesions and pruritus was noted following treatment for 12 weeks, from which the dose of Baricitinib was halved and continued for an additional 12 weeks. He showed a complete remission of both bullous and psoriatic lesions without any adverse effects at the 24‐week follow‐up visit. Our observation suggests a potential of Baricitinib as a new alternative therapeutic option for concurrent plaque psoriasis and BP or either of them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Electron transport within nanostructures can be important for various engineering applications, such as thermoelectrics and nanoelectronics. In theoretical studies, electron Monte Carlo simulations are widely used as an alternative approach to solving the electron Boltzmann transport equation, where the energy-dependent electron scattering, exact structure shape, and detailed electric field distribution can be fully incorporated. In this work, such electron Monte Carlo simulations are employed to predict the electrical conductivity of periodic nanoporous Si films that have been widely studied for thermoelectric applications. The focus is on the influence of pore-edge charges on the electron transport. The results are further compared to our previous analytical modeling [Hao et al., J. Appl. Site-selective functionalization of simple arenes remains a paramount challenge due to the similarity of multiple C–H bonds in the same molecule with similar steric environment and electronic properties. Recently, the site-selective thianthrenation/phenoxathiination of arenes has become an attractive solution to reach this challenging goal and it has been applied in the late-stage functionalization of various bioactive molecules. This paper investigates the 1-D diffusion process of bentonite particle, which is affected by the friction related to the fractal structure of colloid pore. The expression of the pore tortuosity containing pore fractal dimension is deduced to determine the friction, and the evolution rule of pore fractal dimension during diffusion with bentonite volume fraction is reached. The rationality of the modified fractal model is validated via 1-D diffusion test and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Then the influences of electrolyte concentration, initial volume fraction of bentonite, and surface charge density on the colloid diffusion process are analyzed. The results show that the diffusion of bentonite decreases with the increase of electrolyte concentration, and increases with the increase of initial volume fraction and surface charge density. The interfacial volume fraction is correlated with the concentration of electrolyte solution, but not with the initial volume fraction and surface charge density. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The linear instability of the buoyancy-driven flow adjacent to an inclined heated wall immersed in a thermally stratified medium is studied theoretically and numerically. For the temporally unstable system, spatiotemporal stability analysis is carried out to delineate the parameter space (Grashof number, Prandtl number, and tile angle) for convective/absolute instability. We provide an example of an absolute instability of the buoyancy layer on an inclined buoyancy layer. It is shown that the tile angle and Prandtl number have a dramatic influence on the spatial-temporal properties of the flow. For fixed Pr = 6.7, increasing tile angle decreases the domain of absolute instability, and when tile angle is greater than 20 ° , the absolute instability disappears. The flow will change from convectively unstable to absolutely unstable with the increase of Pr. Results from the direct numerical simulation are in agreement with the predictions of the linear temporal and spatial-temporal instabilities.
