BACKGROUND: Traditional nursing care often fails to meet the complex needs of hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage patients. Limited evidence exists on the efficacy of structured nursing frameworks such as the Omaha System in postoperative care for these patients. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of Omaha-based extended nursing care in improving patients' outcomes. METHODS: This randomized controlled trial included 53 patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage admitted to the neurosurgical department of a large tertiary hospital in Chengdu, China, from March to September 2023. Participants were randomly assigned to either the traditional nursing care (n = 26) or the Omaha-based nursing care in addition to the traditional nursing care (n = 27). Outcomes included self-health management abilities, anxiety and depression levels, quality-of-life, and functional independence. Data were collected before nursing care and 1- and 3-months post-nursing care. RESULTS: Omaha-based nursing care demonstrated improvements in self-health management abilities, with cognition scores increasing from a baseline of 31.65 (4.37) to 57.32 (5.11) at 3-months (mean difference: 25.67, 95%CI [23.45, 27.89], p =.01). Anxiety levels decreased in the Omaha-based nursing group, with SAS scores reducing from 45.71 (3.48) to 28.26 (2.74) at 3-months (mean difference: −17.45, 95% CI [−19.02, −15.88], p <.01). Quality-of-life scores improved in the Omaha-based nursing group, increasing from 6.3 (1.2) to 7.9 (0.9) at 3-months (mean difference: 1.6, 95% CI [1.12, 2.08], p =.03). Functional independence scores were also higher in the Omaha-based nursing group at 3-months (mean difference: 9.2, 95% CI [6.11, 12.29], p =.03). CONCLUSION: Our findings support the integration of the Omaha System into postoperative care protocols for this patient population. However, further validation is warranted by larger trials. Koi is a brightly coloured, elegant fish with high ornamental value, and is known as a "swimming work of art". Fish body colour is mainly determined by the type and distribution of pigment cells on the skin or scales. In this paper, the composition, distribution and morphology of pigment cells in the scales and skin of four different body colours, namely, black, white, yellow and red koi, were compared. The composition of pigment cells in the scales and skin was consistent, and rich iridescent cells were present in all four koi, with melanophores in black koi, and xanthophores and erythrophores in yellow and red koi. Only iridophores were observed in white koi. The ultrastructure of iridophores in all four koi colours was observed by transmission microscopy, and the iridophores mainly had three different morphologies: pike-shaped, short rod-shaped and vacuolated. Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression of eight iridocyte development-related genes in the skin of four different body colors of koi carp, the results showed that eight genes related to iridophores development were expressed in the skin of different body colours, whereas there were differences in expression, among which the relative expression of alk, pka, sox10, pax3, foxd3 and pnp4a genes was higher in red and yellow koi, while the relative expression of ltk and alx4a genes was the highest in white koi. In order to further confirm the role of the pnp4a genes in iridophores development, the recombinant plasmid of overexpression of pnp4a gene was constructed, and was microinjected into the fertilized eggs of AB zebrafish. A strain of microorganism that demonstrated efficient nitrogen removal potential under low C/N conditions was screened from landfill leachate. The strain was identified as Galactomyces candidum by ITS sequencing, and growth density and removal of ammonia nitrogen were assessed after 24 h of incubation. The results showed that the optimum ammonia nitrogen reduction conditions for G. candidum was at pH 8.0 and 30 t, with a C/N ratio of 1.5; the highest rate of ammonia nitrogen removal was 93.1%. This novel function of G. candidum offers great potential in the removal of ammonia nitrogen from sewage, especially in low C/N wastewater. Our study provides a new theoretical basis for the industrial application of microorganism in the biochemical treatment of wastewater and reduces environmental pollution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to environmental pollution and artificial hunting and other factors, the number of wild Rana nigromaculata has been far from meeting the needs of people, hence the artificial training of domesticated Rana nigromaculata is gradually emerging. Nevertheless, to ensure the production of domesticated Rana nigromaculata, the first step is to solve the food intake related problems. The tongue is an important feeding and taste organ, which directly affects its food intake function. In this study, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were used to study the ultrastructure of the dorsal surface and interior of the tongue of wild and domesticated Rana nigromaculata. The paraffin section study showed that both wild and domesticated Rana nigromaculata had keratinized filamentous papillae and bacteriform papillae. Filamentous papillae were distributed throughout the dorsal surface of the tongue and were composed of primary and secondary papillae. The bacteriform papillae were round, located at the tip of tongue and tongue margin. When the epithelium was removed, the epithelium of the bacteriform papilla was volcanically shaped with a taste bud cavity at the top. However, there were some differences in the histological structure of the tongue: the filamentous papillae on the tongue surface of wild Rana nigromaculata are more developed, and the degree of keratinization was more obvious than that of domesticated Rana nigromaculata. By comparing the ultrastructure of scanning electron microscopy, it was found that both wild and domesticated Rana nigromaculata could be observeed that there were large size circumvallate papilla on the lingual side of the dorsal surface caudal region, and foliated papilla composed of epithelial folds separated by parallel grooves. There were some differences in the scanning submicrostructure of tongue tissue between the two species. The filamentous papillae on the tongue surface of wild Rana nigromaculata were more developed and the degree of keratinization was greater than that of domesticated Rana nigromaculata. This was consistemt with the results of paraffin section study. The comparative observation of ultrastructure by transmission electron microscopy showed that the tongue heart of wild and domesticated Rana nigromaculata was composed of skeletal muscle fibers, connective tissue and tongue glands. The muscle fibers crossed over in three planes. The lamina propria and submucosa contain blood vessels and nerve fibers and were surrounded by thin connective tissue fibers. The salivary glands were confined to the back of the tongue and consist of many serous and mucous cells. Therefore, it can be inferred that the tongue structure is closely related to its food intake. The results of this study not only can enrich the study of tongue histological structure of Rana nigromaculata and amphibians, but also provide experimental basis for the conservation of wild germplasm resources of Rana nigromaculata, the improvement of diet formula of domesticated Rana nigromaculata and the development of industrial production. Microphthalmia-related transcription factors (MITF) are closely related to the formation of melanocytes (melanophores). The casper mutant zebrafish is a double-gene mutant zebrafish strain (mitfaw2/w2; roya9/a9) bred by crossing nacre and roy orbison. The observation of fin, scale and early body color development of mitfa-mutated casper zebrafish in this paper confirmed that there were no melanocytes in anal fin, dorsal fin and dorsal scale of casper zebrafish, and no melanocytes were generated during the early body color development. The recombinant plasmid of mitfa overexpression was constructed and microinjected into the fertilized eggs of casper zebrafish. Melanocytes were observed in the head, back and abdomen of the injected group. The results further confirmed that mitfa plays an important role in the formation of fish body color, especially in the formation of melanocytes. At the same time, the preparation of mitfa over-expressing casper zebrafish also provides a material platform for in-depth research on the molecular regulation of fish body color.
