Quantitative measuring of gravity erosion contributes to a better understanding of soil-mass failure occurrence and prediction. However, the measurement of gravity erosion requires the continuous monitoring of the objective terrain, due to its occurrence, usually within seconds, and combination with hydraulic erosion. The photogrammetric technique can quickly obtain terrain data and provide a new method for measuring gravity erosion. Based on a continuous high-overlapping image-acquisition equipment, a Structure-from-Motion-Multi-View-Stereo (SfM-MVS)-integrated workflow, and volume calculation, a new working methodology was established for measuring gravity erosion on steep granitic slopes in the laboratory. The results showed a good match between the digital point clouds derived from SfM-MVS-integrated workflow and terrestrial laser scanning (TLS), achieving millimeter-scale accuracy. The mean distance between the point clouds derived from TLS and SfM-MVS was 1.13 mm, with a standard deviation of 0.93 mm. The relative errors among the volumes calculated by SfM-MVS and TLS or the conventional oven-drying method were all within 10%, with a maximum error of 9.3% and a minimum error of 0.2%. A total of 213 gravitational erosion events were measured in the laboratory by using the SfM-MVS method, further confirming its feasibility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Land degradation induced by water erosion is a worldwide problem for sustainable agriculture. Erosion results in the alteration of soil properties to a varying extent that depends on soil type. However, limited attempts have been made to assess the impact of erosion‐induced land degradation on soil infiltration on a wide range of soil types. Herein, field rainfall simulation experiments were performed on prewetted bare heavy‐textured soils at three erosion degrees (no, moderate, and very severe) for five types of soils (Calcic Luvisol, Ferric Luvisol, Plinthic Alisol, Plinthic Acrisol, and Acric Ferralsol). Soil infiltration rate was determined at two rainfall intensities (45 and 90 mm hr−1) and 3‐min intervals for 60‐min runoff duration on microplots (3 m long × 0.8 m wide, 10° slope). At the low rainfall intensity, the impact of erosion‐induced land degradation on rainfall infiltration increased from Calcic Luvisol to Plinthic Acrisol, and the steady state infiltration rate (fc) was well characterized by bulk density and 1.4‐nm intergrade minerals (Adj‐R2 = 0.79, p < 0.001). At the high rainfall intensity, fc was negatively related with illite solely (Adj‐R2 = 0.25, p < .05) and generally increased with an increase of erosion severity; the impact of erosion‐induced land degradation on fc was magnified for Calcic Luvisol and Acric Ferralsol but lessened for other soil types. Collectively, the impact of erosion‐induced land degradation generally increased with increased soil structural stability at the low rainfall intensity and was determined by the interaction between soil structure and rainfall at the high rainfall intensity. Purpose: Multiple reports have demonstrated that highly expressed chloride intracellular channel 1 (CLIC1) exists in a range of malignant tumors and is involved in proliferation, invasion, and migration of cancer cells. There are few studies on CLIC1 and breast cancer (BC). The purpose of this research was to evaluate the expression level of CLIC1 in BC and its impact on prognosis of BC patients., Patients and Methods: Differences in CLIC1 expression levels in 25 pairs of BC and corresponding paracancerous specimens were tested by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot (WB). Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed to discuss the relevance between CLIC1 expression in BC tissue chips and clinicopathological parameters of BC patients. The effect of CLIC1 expression on patient prognosis was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier survival curve and Cox regression analysis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve assessed the diagnostic performance of CLIC1 for BC., Results: The experimental results of qRT-PCR and WB demonstrated that CLIC1 was highly expressed in BC tissues. IHC results showed that overexpression of CLIC1 was strictly correlated with tumor size, TNM classification, pathological grade, lymph node metastasis and Ki67. Patients with lower CLIC1 expression had longer overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS).
