Taking a certain type of domestically produced aviation gravity meter as an example, this paper introduces the working principle, equipment composition, and field performance testing methods of the three-axis inertial stabilizer platform aviation gravimeter. Through error model analysis, it is pointed out that high-precision horizontal attitude holding is one of the key factors to further improve the accuracy of aviation gravity measurement. A rotation combination calibration method under inertial stabilization conditions combined with Kalman filter error estimation is established to improve the efficiency of field implementation while maintaining the calibration accuracy of inertial components. In addition, based on the characteristics of aviation gravity measurement, a set of instrument performance evaluation methods including static accuracy measurement and dynamic accuracy testing before formal field operation is summarized. The test results show that the static accuracy of this type of aviation gravimeter reaches 0.14×10−5 m/s2, the dynamic internal consistency is better than 0.63×10−5 m/s2, and the system difference is better than 0.23×10−5 m/s2, reaching the level of high-end foreign aviation gravimeters. In the future, with further improvement of instrument and differential GNSS accuracy, its application in the field of seismic science will be expanded.

Objectives Cancer screening aims to detect and treat malignant lesions at an early stage and to prolong patients’ lifetime. There is still a lack of effective cancer screening programs in China. We initiated a screening project in 2018 and this study presented the cancer screening status in China. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study in one cancer-care medical center of China. The screening program included routine blood tests, plasma tumor markers, gastric endoscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasound, and computed tomography (CT) scans. Screening results were presented as sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive values (PPVs). Results Twenty-three (1.46%) out of 1,576 participants were eventually diagnosed with malignant tumors or high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HGIN). A family history of malignancy (78.26% in diagnosed cancer and HGIN vs. 46.36% in the others) was the only statistically significant parameter associated with cancer detection (p = 0.002). None of the common tumor markers were associated with the cancers screened. Except for colonoscopy (50.00%) and ultrasound for renal cancer (66.67%), the sensitivities of most screening methods were 100%. The specificities of all the screening means were above 96%. Most PPVs ranged from 30–60%. Conclusion We emphasized risk stratification for early cancer screening, such as a family history of cancer. The survey illustrated that gastric endoscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasound, and lung CT for early cancer screening had high specificity, reasonable sensitivity, and PPV. We anticipated this report would motivate larger-sample studies to estimate the risk-to-benefit ratio of cancer screening and urge the establishment of a native Chinese screening project and even guidelines.

Abstract This study aimed to understand the changes in the milk and gut microbiota of dairy cows with mastitis, and to further explore the relationship between mastitis and the microbiota. In this study, we extracted microbial DNA from healthy and mastitis cows and performed high-throughput sequencing using the Illumina NovaSeq sequencing platform. OTU clustering was performed to analyze complexity, multi-sample comparisons, differences in community structure between groups, and differential analysis of species composition and abundance. The results showed that there were differences in microbial diversity and community composition in the milk and feces of normal and mastitis cows, where the diversity of microbiota decreased and species abundance increased in the mastitis group. Machine Learning (ML) is almost ubiquitously used in multiple disciplines nowadays. Recently, we have seen its usage in the realm of differential distinguishers for symmetric key ciphers. It has been shown that ML-based differential distinguishers can be easily extended to break round-reduced versions of ciphers. In this paper, we show new distinguishers on the unkeyed and round-reduced versions of SPECK-32, SPECK-128, ASCON, SIMECK-32, SIMECK-64, and SKINNY-128. We explore multiple avenues in the process. In summary, we use neural networks and support vector machines in various settings (such as varying the activation function), apart from experimenting with a number of input difference tuples. Among other results, we show a distinguisher of 8-round SPECK-32 that works with low data complexity.

Objectives: Copper (Cu) and mercury (Hg) are major pollutants worldwide, but the gastrointestinal damage caused by copper and mercury exposure is unclear. We are committed to scientific research on the harm and transformation of copper and mercury exposure to the rectal microbial population of female mice. Methods: Kunming mice (n = 24) were randomly divided into four equal groups, i.e., 1) Rectal Colon Control (RCK) group, 0 mg/kg of Cu and Hg), 2) Rectal Copper (RCu group), 5 mg/kg weight of Cu), 3) Rectal Mercury (RHg) group, 2 mg/kg weight of Hg) and 4) Rectal copper-mercury (RCH) group, 2.5 and 1 mg/kg weight of Cu and Hg. On the 90th day, the rectal and intestinal tissues were analyzed for pathophysiology, and quantitative analysis by PCR, then a library was prepared, and sequencing was carried out. Results: The rectal tissue of the RCu and RCH group had histopathological and physiological damage, including low weight, low pH value, increased thickness of the outer muscle layer, smooth muscle tissue, widening of the submucosal layer, reduction of goblet cells, blunt intestinal villi and severe aging of the central mammary duct. In addition, Sequencing results of 16S rRNA genes compared with RCK showed that the abundance of the Treponema, Coprococcus, and Dehalobacterium in RCu was more significant than the RCK. Still, the bacillus, Jeotgalicoccus, Salinicoccus, Staphylococcus, and Ignatzschineria was just the opposite. The abundance of Butyricimonas, Streptococcus, Dehalobacterium, Coprococcus, Oscillospira, and Helicobacter in RHg was more significant than in the RCK. Still, Corynebacterium, Bacillus, Jeotgalicoccus, Salinicoccus, Staphylococcus, Lactococcus, and Ignatzschineria were the opposite. We found some similar exciting things. The abundance of the Dehalobacterium, Coprococcus, and Oscillospira was significantly more significant than the RCK. Still, the Corynebacterium, Salinicoccus, Jeotgalicoccus, Staphylococcus, Lactococcus, Sutterella, and Ignatzschineria were the opposite. In addition, the Staphylococcus in RCu was increased than in the RCH, and the Streptococcus in RCu was increased than in the RCH. Conclusion: The results of the present study furnish a source for a more precise validation of the risk of digestive tract diseases driven by Cu and Hg.

Fault injection attacks (FIA) are a class of active physical attacks, mostly used for malicious purposes such as extraction of cryptographic keys, privilege escalation, attacks on neural network implementations. There are many techniques that can be used to cause the faults in integrated circuits, many of them coming from the area of failure analysis. In this paper we tackle the topic of practicality of FIA. We analyze the most commonly used techniques that can be found in the literature, such as voltage/clock glitching, electromagnetic pulses, lasers, and Rowhammer attacks. To summarize, FIA can be mounted on most commonly used architectures from ARM, Intel, AMD, by utilizing injection devices that are often below the thousand dollar mark. Therefore, we believe these attacks can be considered practical in many scenarios, especially when the attacker can physically access the target device.

Objectives: ApxIA and ApxIVA are the main virulence factors of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (A. pleuropneumoniae). The preparation of their antibodies is of great significance for diagnosing and treating porcine pleuropneumonia. Methods: This study used chemically synthesized ApxIA and ApxIVA peptides as immunogens to prepare polyclonal antibodies against ApxIA and ApxIVA. Their titers were determined by ELISA and Dot blotting. Histopathology of apparently infected organs was carried out. Finally, the immunofluorescence method detected the distribution of antigens in the visceral tissues of mice infected with ApxIA and ApxIVA toxins. Results: The results showed that ApxIA and ApxIVA polyclonal antibodies with titer as high as 1: 200000 and 1: 50000, respectively, were successfully obtained. The immunofluorescence results showed that these polyclonal antibodies could accurately detect ApxIA and ApxIVA antigens in mouse lungs with strong specificity. Histopathologically, there were perialveolar hemorrhages, pulmonary emphysema, and sloughing of bronchiolar epithelium. There was vacuolation and infiltration of chronic inflammatory cells in the liver parenchymal tissue. Atrophy of intestinal villi and glands and sloughing of villus epithelium, and congestion. There was increased urinary space and congestion in the proximal convoluted tubules. Lymphoid follicles increased in size in the spleen, the germinal center enlarged, and congestion in surrounding lymphoid tissue were observed. Conclusion: This study laid a foundation for the research and development of a rapid detection kit for A. pleuropneumoniae and provided conditions for diagnosing and treating porcine contagious pleuropneumonia.

Background: The present study analyzed the synergistic protective effect of β-alanine and taurine against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion. Myocardial infarct size, lipid peroxidation, and levels of glutathione peroxidase (Gpx), superoxide dismutase (SOD), reduced glutathione (GSH), catalase, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), reactive oxygen species (ROS), apoptosis, and the mRNA and protein expression of Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) and signal transducer and activator 3 of transcription (STAT3) were determined. The molecular docking was carried out by using AutoDock 4.2.1. Results: Combined treatment with β-alanine and taurine reduced myocardial infarct size, lipid peroxidation, inflammatory marker, ROS levels, and apoptosis and increased Gpx, SOD activity, GSH, and catalase activity. Furthermore, combined treatment significantly reduced JAK2 and STAT3 mRNA and protein expression compared with the control. The small molecule was docked over the SH2 domain of a STAT3, and binding mode was determined to investigate the inhibitory potential of β-alanine and taurine. β-Alanine bound to SH2 domain with ΔG of -7.34 kcal/mol and KI of 1.91 μM. Taurine bound to SH2 domain with ΔG of -7.38 kcal/mol and KI of 1.95 μM. Conclusion: Taken together, these results suggest that the combined supplementation of β-alanine and taurine should be further investigated as an effective therapeutic approach in achieving cardioprotection in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion.How to cite: Hou X, Sun G, Gou L. OCB3 is one of the winners of the CAESAR competition and is among the most popular authenticated encryption schemes. In this paper, we put forward a fine-grain study of its security against side-channel attacks. We start from trivial key recoveries in settings where the mode can be attacked with standard Differential Power Analysis (DPA) against some block cipher calls in its execution (namely, initialization, processing of associated data or last incomplete block and decryption). These attacks imply that at least these parts must be strongly protected thanks to countermeasures like masking. We next show that if these block cipher calls of the mode are protected, practical attacks on the remaining block cipher calls remain possible. A first option is to mount a DPA with unknown inputs. A more efficient option is to mount a DPA that exploits horizontal relations between consecutive input whitening values. It allows trading a significantly reduced data complexity for a higher key guessing complexity and turns out to be the best attack vector in practical experiments performed against an implementation of OCB3 in an ARM Cortex-M0. Eventually, we consider an implementation where all the block cipher calls are protected. We first show that exploiting the leakage of the whitening values requires mounting a Simple Power Analysis (SPA) against linear operations. We then show that despite being more challenging than when applied to non-linear operations, such an SPA remains feasible against 8-bit implementations, leaving its generalization to larger implementations as an interesting open problem. We last describe how recovering the whitening values can lead to strong attacks against the confidentiality and integrity of OCB3. Thanks to this comprehensive analysis, we draw concrete requirements for side-channel resistant implementations of OCB3.

Background: Low caregiver health literacy (HL) is related to increased obesity risk for their children. Teach-Back and Teach-to-Goal (TB/TTG) are strategies that may improve comprehension of key concepts for people who have low HL but have yet to be examined in the context of childhood obesity treatment. Objective: This study evaluated TB/TTG strategies integrated within support calls delivered to caregivers as part of a 3-month childhood obesity intervention. Methods: Ninety-four caregivers (60% Black, 42% high school education or less, 53% with income ≤$29,999, and 34% low HL) with overweight/obese children age 8 to 12 years enrolled in a childhood obesity intervention. Caregiver HL was assessed at baseline using the Newest Vital Sign and caregivers were dichotomized to low and adequate HL groups for analyses. Caregivers received 6 bi-weekly support calls that alternated with in-person, family sessions. Call completion rates, comprehension of key content (correct responses on TB/TTG questions), and satisfaction with support calls were evaluated. Qualitative information on call satisfaction was gathered at the 3-month time point. Key Results: Average completion rate across all calls was 62% with a mean call time of 26 minutes (no significant difference between HL groups). Caregivers had an average score of 0.90 out of 1 when evaluating overall call comprehension by scoring TB/TTG performance. Content comprehension in calls 1, 3, and 4 was significantly higher among caregivers with adequate HL relative to low HL (p < .1). Caregivers from both HL groups felt satisfied with calls [9.1 (2.0)/10-point scale] and agreed that calls helped them learn class material better [8.1 (2.7)]. Qualitatively, caregivers provided 81 (75%) positive responses (e.g., good content) and 27 (25%) negative responses (e.g., too lengthy) regarding the support calls. Conclusions: Support calls using TB/TTG strategies were feasible, well received, and should be considered for incorporation into childhood obesity interventions. Support calls were well accepted and facilitated comprehension of the key learning objectives in caregivers, regardless of health literacy level. These strategies should be considered for incorporation into childhood obesity treatment interventions to increase uptake of main concepts.

Abstract Background To describe the identification, adaptation, and testing of an evidence-based pediatric weight management program for a health disparate community. Methods A community advisory board (CAB) of decision-makers and staff from local health care, public health, and recreation organizations engaged with academic partners to select an evidence-based program (EBP) for local implementation. Three EBPs were identified (Traffic Light, Bright Bodies, Golan and colleagues Home Environmental Model) and each EBP was rated on program characteristics, implementation and adaptation, and adoptability. Following selection of the EBP that was rated highest, the POPS-CAB made adaptations based on the program principles described in peer-reviewed publications. The adapted intervention, iChoose, was then pilot tested in 3 iterative phases delivered initially by research partners, then co-delivered by research and community partners, then delivered by community partners. The RE-AIM framework was used to plan and evaluate the iChoose intervention across all waves with assessments at baseline, post program (3 months), and follow-up (6 months). Side-channel analysis constitutes a powerful attack vector against cryptographic implementations. Techniques such as power and electromagnetic side-channel analysis have been extensively studied to provide an efficient way to recover the secret key used in cryptographic algorithms. To protect against such attacks, countermeasure designers have developed protection methods, such as masking and hiding, to make the attacks harder. However, due to significant overheads, these protections are sometimes deployed only at the beginning and the end of encryption, which are the main targets for side-channel attacks. In this paper, we present a methodology for side-channel assisted differential cryptanalysis attack to target middle rounds of block cipher implementations. Such method presents a powerful attack vector against designs that normally only protect the beginning and end rounds of ciphers. We generalize the attack to SPN based ciphers and calculate the effort the attacker needs to recover the secret key. We provide experimental results on 8-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers. We provide case studies on state-of-the-art symmetric block ciphers, such as AES, SKINNY, and PRESENT. Furthermore, we show how to attack shuffling-protected implementations.

Differential Fault Analysis (DFA) is considered as the most popular fault analysis method. While there are techniques that provide a fault analysis automation on the cipher level to some degree, it can be shown that when it comes to software implementations, there are new vulnerabilities, which cannot be found by observing the cipher design specification. This work bridges the gap by providing a fully automated way to carry out DFA on assembly implementations of symmetric block ciphers. We use a customized data flow graph to represent the program and develop a novel fault analysis methodology to capture the program behavior under faults. We establish an effective description of DFA as constraints that are passed to an SMT solver. We create a tool that takes assembly code as input, analyzes the dependencies among instructions, automatically attacks vulnerable instructions using SMT solver and outputs the attack details that recover the last round key (and possibly the earlier keys). We support our design with evaluations on lightweight ciphers SIMON, SPECK, and PRIDE, and a current NIST standard, AES. By automated assembly analysis, we were able to find new efficient DFA attacks on SPECK and PRIDE, exploiting implementation specific vulnerabilities, and previously published DFA on SIMON and AES. Moreover, we present a novel DFA on multiplication operation that has never been shown for symmetric block ciphers before. Our experimental evaluation also shows reasonable execution times that are scalable to current cipher designs and can easily outclass the manual analysis. Moreover, we present a method to check the countermeasure-protected implementations in a way that helps implementers to decide how many rounds should be protected. We note that this is the first work that automatically carries out DFA on cipher implementations without any plaintext or ciphertext information and therefore, can be generally applied to any input data to the cipher.

This community-based participatory research (CBPR) project used a collaborative process to develop a culturally relevant workbook for parents of overweight children. We followed a mixed methods iterative process to assess clear communication using a CBPR approach. Materials were evaluated using readability tests, the Clear Communication Index (CCI), and the Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM). In addition, we used surveys and focus groups to investigate parents’ perceptions and gather feedback from delivery staff using the workbook. While workbook materials maintained adequate grade reading levels, our iterative process and the use of CCI and SAM led to significant improvements in (a) clearly communicating the objectives of the program, (b) being culturally relevant, and (c) reaching a high satisfaction among users. These findings suggest that evaluative measures for written materials should move beyond readability and need to account for level of clarity and cultural appropriateness of messages. Furthermore, we found that that an iterative process to intervention’s material development using clear communication strategies while involving community members, parents, and research partners can lead to workbook materials that are culturally relevant to the target audience, and better communicate program objectives. Finally, this is a potentially generalizable process for improving clear communication of written health information materials.

Over the past decades, fault injection attacks have been extensively studied due to their capability to efficiently break cryptographic implementations. Fault injection attack models are normally determined by analyzing the cipher structure and finding exploitable spots in non-linear and permutation layers. However, this level of abstraction is often too high to distinguish vulnerable parts of software implementations, due to specific operations and optimizations. On the other hand, manually analyzing the assembly code requires non-negligible amount of time and expertise. In this paper, we propose an automated approach for analyzing cipher implementations in assembly. We represent the whole assembly program as a data flow graph so that the vulnerable spots can be found efficiently. Fault propagation is analyzed in a subgraph constructed from each vulnerable spot, allowing equations for Differential Fault Analysis (DFA) to be automatically generated. We have created a tool that implements our approach: DATAC – DFA Automation Tool for Assembly Code. We have successfully used this tool for attacking PRESENT- 80, being able to find implementation-specific vulnerabilities that can be exploited in order to recover the last round key with 16 faults. Our results show that DATAC is useful in finding attack spots that are not visible from the cipher structure, but can be easily exploited when dealing with real-world implementations.
