The fetal gut-like phenotype can be found in yolk sac tumors and adenocarcinomas with enteroblastic differentiation (AEBDs). We report a cervical yolk sac tumor in a 44-yr-old woman. The tumor has similar morphology, immunophenotype, and molecular features to the AEBD of the digestive system. The tumor showed a glandular-predominant growth pattern, composed of columnar cells with clear glycogen-rich cytoplasm. The microcystic/reticular architecture or Schiller-Duval bodies were not found in the tumor. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for p16, glypican-3 (GPC3), spalt-like transcription factor 4 (SALL4), Cdx-2, and p53. TP53 mutation was identified by next-generation sequencing, and human papillomavirus (HPV) 35 was detected by HPV DNA polymerase chain reaction. In the present case, the adenocarcinoma cells in the superficial cervical glandular epithelium and the nonclear glandular components proved the existence of somatic components. The positivity of p16 and HPV also supports that the present case originates from an HPV-associated adenocarcinoma. The yolk sac tumor should be thought of as "germ cell differentiation" from a somatic carcinoma. This kind of yolk sac tumor arising from somatic-type adenocarcinoma in the female genital tract may be the counterpart of AEBD in the digestive tracts and adenocarcinomas with fetal gut-like morphology in other organs. The tumor might be more aggressive than conventional adenocarcinoma, pathologists should highlight the existence of the enteroblastic component in the pathologic report.

Summary Plasmon-induced charge transfer has drawn considerable interests and spurred rapid developments of photovoltaics and photocatalysis. Various plasmonic metal/transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) heterostructures have been developed to promote charge separation. For plasmon-induced catalysis, the transformation of TMDs is rare, and the erosion of TMDs has not yet been reported. Here, we report the etching of two-dimensional TMDs by planar surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). We found that SPPs can etch various TMDs into desired layers and lateral size through controlling the light power and incident direction. In aqueous media, the strong plasmonic coupling at Au/MoS2 interface generates holes in the valence band of MoS2 that can weaken its interlayer interaction. As a synergistic effect, the plasmonic hot electrons produce oxidizing H2O2 to dissolve MoS2 from the top layers. Our results provide a new perspective for understanding the plasmonic coupling at metal-TMD interfaces and a reliable route toward fabricating well-defined TMDs.

Salivary gland-type intraductal carcinoma (IC) is a rare malignant salivary gland neoplasm. Primary salivary gland-type IC has never been described in the lung. Herein, we present a primary pulmonary IC in a 63-year-old woman. The tumor originated in the bronchus wall of the right middle lobe. The tumor consisted of two histological types, intercalated component and oncocytic component. The intercalated component showed tubular/cystic pattern composed of column to cube-shaped cells and scattered mucous cells. The oncocytic component showed solid nests composed of large cells with abundant eosinophilic granular cytoplasm. Immunohistochemically, both histological components were positive for cytokeratin 7 (CK7), S-100 protein, SOX10, and mammaglobin. The rimming myoepithelial cells were highlighted by p63 and smooth muscle actin (SMA). The tumor cells were negative for androgen receptor (AR), HER-2, Dog-1, TTF-1, napsin A, GCDFP-15, and GATA3. In the present case, we detected KIAA1217::RET fusion via DNA-based next-generation sequencing (NGS) and RT-PCR, which established the diagnosis of IC at a molecular level. The present case expands the categories of bronchopulmonary salivary gland-type tumors.

Dissolution of nanoparticles is an environmental interfacial process that affects the transformation of nanoparticles. Understanding the dissolution processes of nanoparticles is important to predict their fate in the aquatic environment. However, studying nanoparticle dissolution kinetics is still challenging since dissolution is usually coupled with nanoparticle aggregation. Here, we probed the dissolution process of Ag nanoparticles at the single-particle level by surface plasmon resonance microscopy. The single-particle imaging capability enabled us to classify Ag nanoparticles, measure the dissolution dynamics of single nanoparticles, and correlate the aggregation size with oxidation activity. Moreover, we studied the dual effect of natural organic matter on the dissolution of Ag nanoparticles and validated this result with real natural freshwater. Our study provides new insights into the dissolution of Ag nanoparticles, and this technique can be extended for other nanomaterials to evaluate their fate in aquatic environments.

The polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), which comprised of the core subunits: Enhancer of Zeste Homolog 2 (EZH2), Suppressor of Zeste 12 (SUZ12), and Embryonic Ectoderm Development (EED), is an essential epigenetic gene silencer responsible for depositing repressive histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation (H3K27me3) marks on chromatin. The aberrant activity of PRC2 is closely involved in tumorigenesis and progression, making its inhibition a viable strategy for epigenetic cancer therapy. Although the clinical development of small PRC2 inhibitors has made impressive progress, with one EZH2 inhibitor approved for cancer therapy and several other candidates in clinical trials, current EZH2 inhibitors are limited to treating certain hematological malignancies and have acquired drug resistance. EED is essential for PRC2 stabilization and allosterically stimulating PRC2 activity because it functions as a scaffold protein and an H3K27me3-recognizing protein. Thus, due to its novel mechanism of action, targeting EED provides a promising new strategy for inhibiting PRC2 function and exhibits the potential to overcome the issues encountered by EZH2 inhibitors. This review provides a comprehensive overview of available cancer therapy strategies that target EED, including allosteric inhibitors, protein-protein interaction (PPI) inhibitors, and proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs).

Although most cells are mononuclear, the nucleus can exist in the form of binucleate or even multinucleate to respond to different physiological processes. The male accessory gland of Drosophila is the organ that produces semen, and its main cells are binucleate. Here we observe that CTP synthase (CTPS) forms filamentous cytoophidia in binuclear main cells, primarily located at the cell boundary. In CTPSH355A, a point mutation that destroys the formation of cytoophidia, we find that the nucleation mode of the main cells changes, including mononucleates and vertical distribution of binucleates. Although the overexpression of CTPSH355A can restore the level of CTPS protein, it will neither form cytoophidia nor eliminate the abnormal nucleation pattern. Therefore, our data indicate that there is an unexpected functional link between the formation of cytoophidia and the maintenance of binucleation in Drosophila main cells.

Targeted protein degradation using proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs) has emerged as an effective strategy for drug discovery, given their unique advantages over target protein inhibition. The bromodomain and extra-terminal (BET) family proteins play a key role in regulating oncogene expression and are considered attractive therapeutic targets for cancer therapy. Considering the therapeutic potential of BET proteins in cancer and the marked attractiveness of PROTACs, BET-targeting PROTACs have been extensively pursued. Recently, BET-targeting PROTACs based on new E3 ligases and novel strategies, such as light-activated, macrocyclic, folate-caged, aptamer-PROTAC conjugation, antibody-coupling, and autophagy-targeting strategies, have emerged. In the present review, we provide a comprehensive summary of advances in BET-targeting PROTACs.

Au nanoparticles (NPs) has been widely used for the detection of intracellular H2O2 to enhance the electron transfer process. But AuNPs are easy to aggregate in the live cells environment. Herein we report a rapid, reliable and low-cost electrochemiluminescent (ECL) biochip integrated by AuNPs-loaded mesoporous silica film (MSF) to detect H2O2 released by macrophage cells. The MSF was employed as a template to load AuNPs within the nanochannels to avoid aggregation. H2O2 could be catalyzed by AuNPs to promote the ECL reaction of luminol molecules in solution. The ECL intensity was significantly enhanced, and the peak potential was negatively shifted by 400 mV due to the excellent electrocatalytic ability of AuNPs. The integrated biochip demonstrated good reproducibility, with a wide linear range of 0.1–200 μM and an LOD of 25.3 nM. The reliability was evaluated by applying for the assessment of antioxidant activity of resveratrol using RAW 264.7 macrophage model. The AuNPs-loaded MSF integrated biochip can be easily adapted to the development of improved devices in biosensing, lab-on-a-chip, and nanofluidic systems.

Background. Morule-like component (MLC) was a rare structure in primary lung adenocarcinoma. We aimed to reveal the clinicopathological, radiological, immunohistochemical, and molecular features of lung adenocarcinoma with MLCs. Methods. Twenty lung adenocarcinomas with MLCs were collected, and computed tomographic and histological documents were reviewed. Immunohistochemistry, targeted next-generation sequencing, and Sanger sequencing for β-catenin gene were performed. Results. There were 9 lepidic adenocarcinomas, 8 acinar adenocarcinomas, 2 papillary adenocarcinomas, and 1 minimally invasive adenocarcinoma. Most patients (16/17) were shown a pure solid nodule, and 1 patient was shown a partly solid nodule on chest computed tomography (CT). Nine cases were accompanied with micropapillary components, and 3 were with cribriform components in which 2 suffered a worse prognosis. No significant association was found between the MCLs and the overall survival of lung adenocarcinoma ( P = 0.109 ). The MLCs were often arranged in whorled or streaming patterns. The cells in MLCs showed syncytial and mild appearance. The MLCs were positive for E-cadherin, CK7, TTF-1, napsin-A, vimentin, and β-catenin (membrane), and negative for CK5/6, p40, p63, Synaptophysin, chromogranin A, and Cdx-2. EGFR mutation, ALK-EML4 fusion, HER2 amplification, and PIK3CA mutation were detected in 16 cases, 2 cases, 1 case, and 1 case, respectively. EGFR mutation was more frequent in adenocarcinomas with MLCs than those without MLCs ( P = 0.040 ). β-catenin gene mutation was not detected in any patients. Conclusions. MLC is often observed in the background of acinar, lepidic, and papillary adenocarcinomas. Lung adenocarcinomas with MLCs tend to appear as a solid mass on CT and harbor EGFR gene mutations. The micropapillary components and cribriform components may cause poor prognosis of lung adenocarcinomas with MLCs. Vimentin is always positive in MLCs, and it is a useful marker for the identification of MLCs.

Background: The incidence and mortality of hyperlipidemia are increasing year by year, showing a younger trend. At present, the treatment of hyperlipidemia is mainly dependent on western medicine, but its side effects on liver and kidney function are common in clinics. Therefore, it is necessary to study the treatment of hyperlipidemia by augmenting effective dietary nutrition supplements. Vitamin B6 (VitB6), as an essential cofactor for enzymes, participates in lipid metabolism. The effects of VitB6 on hyperlipidemia, however, have not been reported until now. Aim: The present study was to investigate the influence of VitB6 on hepatic lipid metabolism in hyperlipidaemia rats induced by a High-Fat Diet (HFD). Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were kept on HFD for two weeks to establish the hyperlipidemia model. The rats in low-dosage and high-dosage groups were received 2.00 and 3.00 mg/kg/- day of VitB6 for eight weeks, respectively. Results: The results showed that both doses of VitB6 reduced HFD-induced hepatic Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C); decreased blood cholesterol (TC), triglycerides, LDL-C, atherogenic index (AI), Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP), apolipoprotein B (ApoB) and ApoB/apolipoprotein A-1(ApoA1) ratio; increased liver High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (HDL-C) and serum ApoA1; reduced hepatic steatosis and triglyceride accumulation, lowered fat storage, and recovered heart/body and brain/body ratio to a normal level. In addition, VitB6 supplementation markedly decreased HMGR level, increased the mRNA abundance of LDLR and CYP7A1, and protein expression of SIRT1, following the downregulation of SREBP-1 and PPARγ protein expression in the liver of hyperlipidemia rats. Conclusion: In summary, oral VitB6 supplementation can ameliorate HFD-induced hepatic lipid accumulation and dyslipidemia in SD rats by inhibiting fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis, promoting fatty acid decomposition and cholesterol transport.

Background Effective management of imported cases is an important part of epidemic prevention and control. Hainan Province, China reported 168 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), including 112 imported cases on February 19, 2020, but successfully contained the epidemic within 1 month. We described the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in Hainan and compared these features between imported and local cases to provide information for other international epidemic areas. Methods We included 91 patients (56 imported and 35 local cases) from two designated hospitals for COVID-19 in Haikou, China, from January 20 to February 19, 2020. Data on the demographic, epidemiological, clinical and laboratory characteristics were extracted from medical records. Patients were followed until April 21, 2020, and the levels of antibodies at the follow-ups were also analysed by the Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed ranks test. Results Of the 91 patients, 78 (85.7%) patients were diagnosed within the first three weeks after the first case was identified (Day 1: Jan 22, 2020), while the number of local cases started to increase during the third week. No new cases occurred after Day 29. Fever and cough were two main clinical manifestations. In total, 15 (16.5%) patients were severe, 14 (15.4%) had complicated infections, nine (9.9%) were admitted to the intensive care unit, and three died. The median duration of viral shedding in feces was longer than that in nasopharyngeal swabs (19 days vs 16 days, P = 0.007). Compared with local cases, imported cases were older and had a higher incidence of fever and concurrent infections. There was no difference in outcomes between the two groups. IgG was positive in 92.8% patients (77/83) in the follow-up at week 2 after discharge, while 88.4% patients (38/43) had a reduction in IgG levels in the follow-up at week 4 after discharge, and the median level was lower than that in the follow-up at week 2 (10.95 S/Cut Off (S/CO) vs 15.02 S/CO, P Conclusion Imported cases were more severe than local cases but had similar prognoses. The level of IgG antibodies declined from week 6 to week 8 after onset. The short epidemic period in Hainan suggests that the epidemic could be quickly brought under control if proper timely measures were taken.

The ability to track interfacial dynamics of a single nanoparticle at the solution-solid interface is crucial for understanding physical, chemical, and biological processes, but it remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrated a plasmonic imaging technique that can track unlabeled nanoparticles at the solution-solid interface with high spatial and temporal resolutions. This technique is based on particle-induced interferometric scattering of a surface plasmonic wave, which results in a high vertical sensitivity. Using this ability, we tracked the trajectories of a single nanoparticle interacting with a surface, measured the hydrodynamically hindered diffusion of nanoparticles, and revealed the surface chemistry-dependent behavior of nanoparticles at the interface. The application for tracking formation of membranes from a lipid vesicle was demonstrated, indicating the potential for investigating a broad range of nano-objects at interfaces in a complex environment.

Background: The correlation between G388R, V10I polymorphisms of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) 4 gene and risk of carcinoma has been investigated previously, but the results are contradictory.Methods: Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs), in silico tools and immunohistochemical staining (IHS) were adopted to assess the association. Results: Totally, 13,793 cancer patients and 16,179 controls were evaluated in the pooled analysis. When all the studies were summarized, we found that G388R polymorphism is associated with elevated susceptibility to cancer under homozygous comparison (OR = 1.21, 95%CI = 1.03 - 1.43, P = 0.020) and recessive genetic model (OR = 1.21, 95%CI = 1.04 - 1.41, P = 0.012). In stratification analysis by cancer type and ethnicity, similar findings were indicated in prostate cancer, breast cancer, and Asian descendants. Polyphen2 bioinformatics analysis showed that the G388R mutation is predicted to be possibly damaging to the protein function of FGFR4. IHS analysis indicated that the FGFR4 expression is increased in more advanced prostate cancer. Conclusion: FGFR4 G388R polymorphism may be associated with cancer risk, especially in prostate cancer, breast cancer, and Asian descendants. Up-regulation of FGFR4 may be related to a poor prognosis in prostate cancer.

Background Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a lethal malignancy and a major public health concern worldwide. Considering the public health risk posed by HCC, it is necessary to elucidate the mechanisms underlying liver cancer progression in order to identify more therapeutic targets. In this study, we will elucidate the role of LncRNA HULC in regulating HCC cell proliferation, apoptosis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) via the miR-372/CXCR4 axis. Material and MethodsTarget genes were predicted using the online TargetScan database. Cell models of gene over-expression and silencing were established by transfection, and the mRNA and protein expression levels were measured by qRT-PCR and Western blotting, respectively. Cell viability, proliferation and apoptosis were measured by the CCK-8 assay, colony formation assay and Annexin V-FITC/PI staining, respectively. In situ protein expression in tissues was examined by immunohistochemical staining. Results HULC and CXCR4 were upregulated and miR-372 was downregulated in HCC tissue and cells. TargetScan prediction and dual luciferase assay revealed that miR-372 can target HULC or CXCR4. Furthermore, HULC and CXCR4 enhanced the viability of HCC cells, whereas miR-372 had the opposite effect. Consistent with this, HULC and CXCR4 increased the proliferation of these cells and miR-372 showed an inhibitory effect. Furthermore, HULC and CXCR4 blocked apoptosis in liver cancer cells and miR-372 facilitated the same. Finally, HULC and CXCR4 promoted EMT, as indicated by E-cadherin downregulation and Vimentin upregulation, whereas miR-372 had the opposite effects. Conclusion HULC upregulates CXCR4 in HCC cells by inhibiting miR-372, which in turn promotes the proliferation, inhibits the apoptosis and accelerates the EMT of HCC cells.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the most commonly used plastics. The treatment and recycling of PVC waste is still challenging, due to its non-biodegradability, low thermal stability, high Cl content and low product value. In this study, a one-pot method was developed to upcycle PVC into valuable carbon materials, pipeline-quality pyrolysis gas and chlorides. The well-designed process included dechlorination by Cl-fixative (ZnO or KOH), carbonization of dechlorinated polyenes, and modification of carbon materials in sequence. Three new Cd(II) complexes, [Cd2(2-aptt)2(L1)(H2O)]n (1), {[Cd3(2-aptt)2(L2)2]·4H2O}n (2) and {[Cd3(2-aptt)2(L3)]·2H2O}n (3) [2-apttH = 4-amino-3-(2-pyridyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazoleq-5-thione, H2L1 = terephthalic acid, H2L2 = isophthalic acid, H4L3 = pyromellitic acid], have been synthesized under the same reaction condition but tuned by different aromatic multi-carboxylates. The X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis reveals that complexes 1–3 all display 2D architectures with different features depending on the spatial arrangements of coordinated ligands as well as their unlike coordination modes. The 2D architecture of 1 constructs from Cd(II)–aptt– layer structure and "wave-like" Cd(II)–L12– chains. Background Supplementation with Selenium (Se) has been shown to lower blood cholesterol and increase tissue concentrations of the antioxidant glutathione (GSH); however, the effects of Se supplementation, in combination with supplemental magnesium, on high fat-induced hyperlipidemia have not been studied. This study was designed to elucidate the effects of oral selenium and magnesium co-supplementation on antihyperlipidemic and hepatoprotective, antioxidative activities, and related gene expression in a hyperlipidemic rat model. Methods Forty male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups: one group served as control group (CT), provided control diet; The other groups were made hyperlipidemic with high-fat diet; specifically, a high-fat diet group (HF); low-dose selenium (0.05 mg/kg·bw) + low-dose magnesium (5.83 mg/kg·bw) supplement high-fat diet group (HF + LSe + LMg) and high-dose selenium (0.10 mg/kg·bw) + high-dose magnesium (58.33 mg/kg·bw) supplement high-fat diet group (HF + HSe + HMg). The first 4 weeks of the experiment was a hyperlipidemia inducing period using high-fat diet and the following 8 weeks involved in selenium and magnesium co-supplementation. On day 0, 20, 40 and 60 of the intervention, lipid profile was measured. At the end of the 12-week experiments, final blood and liver samples were collected for the measurements of lipid profile, antioxidative indexes, pathological examination, and liver lipid metabolism related gene expression. Results The elevated levels of serum and liver total cholesterol (TC) and serum LDL-C induced by feeding high-fat diets were significantly reduced by low-dose Se and Mg co-supplementation. Both doses of selenium and magnesium co-supplementation notably decreased the blood and liver TG levels, liver function indexes ALT and AST and the ratio of TC/HDL-C and TG/HDL-C. In contrast, Se and Mg supplementation showed a substantial increase in Se-dependent glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and SOD activities and an significant reduce of level of MDA of hyperlipidemic rats. Oil Red O staining showed that selenium and magnesium co-supplementation significantly reduced hepatic intracellular triacylglycerol accumulation. H&E staining also showed that selenium and magnesium co-supplementation can attenuate liver steatosis. Selenium and magnesium co-supplementation remarkably inhibited the mRNA expression level of hepatic lipogenesis genes liver X receptor alpha (LXRα),SREBP-1c and FASN (fatty acid synthase), regulated the mRNA expression levels of liver enzymes related to cholesterol metabolism, including the down regulation of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMGR) and the upregulation of cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) and lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) in the liver of hyperlipidemia rats. Conclusions Oral selenium and magnesium co-supplementation inhibited an increase of lipid and liver profile and liver function index induced by a high-fat diet, and enhanced the activity of the antioxidant enzymes. Selenium combined with magnesium is a promising therapeutic strategy with lipid-lowering and antioxidative effects that protects the liver against hyperlipidemia.

The composition and morphology of the Fe-bearing phase play a significant role in the mechanical properties of aluminum (Al) alloy sheets. In this work, we have studied the formation of Fe-bearing phases in an Al-0.53Mg-0.69Si-0.14Fe (wt%) alloy under the twin-roll casting (TRC) and the direct chill casting (DC) processes, respectively. We found that the π-AlFeMgSi phase was formed in the as-cast TRC sample, while the β-AlFeSi phase was formed in the as-cast DC sample. The differences in the formation of Fe-bearing phases are attributed to the promotion of the peritectic reaction to form the π-AlFeMgSi phase via the TRC process. Furthermore, after homogenization treatment at 550 °C and 2 h, the π-AlFeMgSi phase in the as-cast TRC sample completely decomposed into the fine β-AlFeSi phase, while it was insufficient to dissolve the β-AlFeSi phase in the as-cast DC sample. This is owing to the lower dissolution temperature of the π-AlFeMgSi phase compared to the β-AlFeSi phase. The decomposition of the π-AlFeMgSi phase expands the solid solubility and promotes the aging precipitation, resulting in higher yield strength of the TRC sample than that of the DC sample during the peak-aging treatment. Our work provides new insight into the development of high-performance AA6xxx series alloys based on the TRC process.

Aims Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a severe microvascular complication frequently associated with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The objective of this study was to estimate the effect between Apa I, Bsm I, Fok I and Taq I polymorphisms of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene and DN susceptibility. Methods Eligible case–control studies published updated to March 2017 were searched. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confident intervals (CI) were employed to calculate the strength of effect. Results 12 articles were finally screened out, including 3954 diabetic patients and 1248 healthy controls. When compared with the diabetic patients without nephropathy, our results found that only the Bsm I polymorphism was associated with increased risk of DN under the allelic model (B vs. b: OR = 1.51, 95% CI = 1.03-2.20, P = 0.04) and dominant model (BB + Bb vs. bb: OR = 1.52, 95% CI = 1.00-2.31, P = 0.05). When compared with the healthy controls, our results showed that the Bsm I polymorphism was associated with the DN susceptibility under the allelic model (B vs. b: OR = 1.80, 95% CI = 1.12-2.91, P = 0.02), the homogeneous model (BB vs. bb: OR = 1.43, 95% CI = 1.03-1.98, P = 0.03), and the domain model (BB + Bb vs. bb: OR = 1.80, 95% CI = 1.06-3.05, P = 0.03); the Taq I variant was associated with increased risk of DN only under the heterogeneous model (Tt vs. tt: OR = 2.29, 95% CI = 1.04-5.03, P = 0.04). Conclusions Our results suggested that B allele, and BB + Bb genotypes of Bsm I variant, Tt genotype of Taq I variant might be risk factors for DN. Future researches are still needed to identify our results.

Clinical decision-making on endoscopic vs. surgical resection of early gastric cardiac carcinoma remains challenging because of uncertainty on risk of lymph node metastasis. The aim of this multicenter study was to investigate risk factors of lymph node metastasis in early gastric cardiac carcinoma. Guided with the World Health Organization diagnostic criteria, we studied 2101 radical resections of early gastric carcinoma for risk factors associated with lymph node metastasis, including tumor location, gross pattern, size, histology type, differentiation, invasion depth, lymphovascular, and perineural invasion. We found that the risk of lymph node metastasis was significantly lower in early gastric cardiac carcinomas (6.7%, 33/495), compared with early gastric non-cardiac carcinomas (17.1%, 275/1606) (p 0.0001). In early gastric cardiac carcinoma, no lymph node metastasis was identified in intramucosal carcinoma (0/193) and uncommon types of carcinomas (0/24), irrespective of the gross pattern, size, histologic type, differentiation, and invasion depth. Ulceration, size 3 cm, and submucosal invasion were not significant independent risk factors for lymph node metastasis. In 33 early gastric cardiac carcinomas with lymph node metastasis, either lymphovascular invasion or poor differentiation was present in 16 (48.5%) cases and together in six cases. By multivariate analysis, independent risk factors of lymph node metastasis in early gastric cardiac carcinoma included lymphovascular invasion (Odds Ratio (OR): 7.6, 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 2.8-20.2) (p 0.0001) and poor differentiation (OR: 6.0, 95% CI: 1.4-25.9) (p 0.05). In conclusion, lymph node metastasis was not identified in early gastric cardiac intramucosal carcinoma and uncommon types of carcinoma. The risk of lymph node metastasis was also significantly lower in tumors with submucosal invasion, especially for cases without lymphovascular invasion or poor differentiation. These results lend support to the role of endoscopic therapy in the treatment of patients with early gastric cardiac carcinoma.

Objective: To investigate the effects of scalp acupuncture intervention combined with rehabilitation training on the neurotrophy status and nerve injury in patients with convalescent period of cerebral hemorrhage. Methods: A total of 78 patients with convalescent period of cerebral hemorrhage who were treated in West China Hospital between January 2016 and March 2017 were divided into the control group and the experimental group by random number table, each with 39 cases. Control group received the routine rehabilitation training, and the experimental group received scalp acupuncture intervention combined with rehabilitation training. The differences in neurotrophy status and nerve injury were compared between the two groups before and after intervention. Results: Before intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in neurotrophy status and nerve injury between the two groups. After 1 week of intervention and after 2 weeks of intervention, serum neurotrophy indexes NGF and BDNF contents of experimental group were higher than those of control group; serum nerve injury indexes GFAP, NSE and S100B contents were lower than those of control group; serum inflammatory mediators IL-18, HMGB1 and IFN-γ contents were lower than those of control group. Conclusion: scalp acupuncture intervention combined with rehabilitation training can effectively improve the neurotrophy state and reduce the nerve injury in patients with convalescent period of cerebral hemorrhage.
