We herein report 2 cases of herpes simplex keratitis after trans-epithelial photorefractive keratectomy. Patients' medical histories, symptoms, signs, clinical examination results, diagnosis and treatment were showed in detail. Following precision diagnosis and medical intervention, including topical and systemic antiviral treatmented for 1 to 2 weeks. The two patients were cured with full reepithelialization without corneal scar.本文报道了Trans-PRK术后单纯疱疹病毒性角膜炎患者2例，详细记述了患者的病史、症状、体征、辅助检查结果和诊疗过程。经过及时、确切的诊断和充分的治疗，患者经1~2周的局部联合全身的抗病毒药物治疗后角膜上皮完全修复，无角膜瘢痕。.

This study aimed to explore the effects of Wenyang Zhenshuai granules (WZG) on the morphology of cardiomyocytes, cell viability, and the expression of key mitochondrial autophagy proteins in the doxorubicin-induced model of H9c2 cardiomyocyte injury. Cardiomyocytes were cultured for 44 h and divided into 4 groups: intact control, doxorubicin-injured cells (DOX), doxorubicin-injured cells treated with WZG (DOX+WZG), and doxorubicin-injured cells treated with valsartan (DOX+valsartan; reference group). The morphology of cardiomyocytes was analyzed under an inverted microscope; cardiomyocyte survival rate was determined by MTT assay. The expression of the key mitochondrial autophagy proteins (PINK1, parkin, LC3-II, and prohibitin-2) was analyzed by Western blotting. WZG down-regulated the expression of the key mitochondrial autophagy proteins in DOX-injured cells, which may be one of the important mechanisms for regulating ventricular remodeling and cardiomyocyte apoptosis.

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms), an invasive plant, is used to control algae-polluted water, but the mechanism among which is not clear. In this study, the allelopathic effects of water hyacinth on the growth of Microcytis aeruginosa were investigated. The physiological changes of M. aeruginosa such as chlorophyll content, superoxide dismutases (SODs), peroxidases (PODs), total protein contents (TPCs), and MDA contents were also determined. Our results showed that higher density of water hyacinth extracts and ethyl acetate fractions all showed significant allelopathic inhibition on the growth of M. aeruginosa. The ethyl acetate fraction considerably reduced the algae chlorophyll content. The higher concentration used of ethyl acetate fraction, the lower the chlorophyll content of algae. The activity of SODs and PODs were quite reduced after 10-day treatment by ethyl acetate fraction. The TPCs and MDA contents were also found to be decreased after 4-day treatment. It is inferred that water hyacinth inhibited the algal growth by released allelochemicals and affected diversity of biochemical and physiological attributes, and also lead to the membrane injury in the M. aeruginosa cells.

To explore the correlation between angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) gene polymorphism and epilepsy secondary to cerebral infarction and its significance for the diagnosis of this disease.A total of 200 patients with epilepsy secondary to cerebral infarction were enrolled from our hospital as observation group, and 200 patients without epilepsy after cerebral infarction as control group. Genomic deoxyribonucleic acids (DNAs) were extracted from the peripheral blood of the subjects, and the polymorphic regions at AT1R gene loci rs380400, rs1799870, rs12721273, and rs55707609 were amplified via polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sent to the company for sequencing. The concentration of farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FDPS) was determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit, and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and prothrombin time (PT) were measured in the Laboratory Department.There were no differences in the allele distributions at AT1R gene loci rs380400 (p=0.070), rs179987 (p=0.0.280), and rs55707609 (p=0.046), but in the allele distribution at rs12721273 (p=0.001) between control group and observation group, and observation group exhibited a significantly lower frequency of allele G in cerebral infarction patients than control group [153 (0.383) vs. 198 (0.495)]. The frequency of genotype GT at rs12721273 was lower [71 (0.355)] and that of genotype TT was evidently higher [88 (0.440)] in observation group (p=0.000). Control group showed a notably lower frequency of genotype AA [47 (0.235)] and a markedly higher frequency of genotype AT [110 (0.550)] at rs55707609 (p=0.000). Observation group exhibited a substantially lower frequency of recessive model AG+GG [128 (0.640)] (p=0.037), and a notably higher frequency of homozygous model AA [72 (0.360)] (p=0.048) at AT1R gene locus rs380400, a remarkably lower frequency of dominant model GG+GT [112 (0.560)] (p=0.002) at rs12721273, and a significantly lower frequency of recessive model AT+TT [126 (0.630)] (p=0.000) and a considerably lower frequency of heterozygous model AT [84 (0.420)] (p=0.026) at rs55707609. The frequencies of AT1R gene haplotypes ACGA (p=0.001), ACGT (p=0.045), ACTT (p=0.000), ATTT (p=0.048), GCTA (p=0.000), and GTGA (p=0.005) in observation group were distinctly higher than those in control group, and the frequencies of the haplotypes ACTA (p=0.000) and ATTA (p=0.029) were evidently lower than those in control group. The loci rs12721273 and rs1799870 showed a significant association (D'=0.783), and APTT was considerably correlated with genotype AG at rs380400 (p=0.042), PT with genotype CC at rs1799870 (p=0.002) and FDPS with genotype AA at rs55707609 (p=0.015).The polymorphisms of AT1R gene loci rs380400, rs1799870, rs12721273, and rs55707609 are correlated with the susceptibility to epilepsy secondary to cerebral infarction.

Inflammatory accumulation in epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) may influence the formation and development of coronary artery disease (CAD). EAT macrophages exhibit M1 polarization and the secretion of a large number of inflammatory factors in CAD patients. Emerging data demonstrate that Krüppel-like factor-7 (KLF7), contributes to the regulation of adipocyte differentiation and the secretion of adipose tissue inflammation. However, the function of KLF7 in EAT inflammation still remains to be uncovered. This study aims to investigate the role of KLF7 in macrophage activation in EAT.The levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in cell supernatant were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The mRNA expression levels were measured by Real Time-PCR. The protein expression level was detected by Western blot.The expression of inflammatory factors and KLF7 were markedly increased in CAD EAT than non-CAD EAT. KLF7 is highly expressed in human THP-1-derived macrophages induced by inflammatory stimuli, such as LPS. The knockdown of KLF7 inhibited the release of inflammatory factors and significantly decreased the expression of KLF7 in human THP-1-derived macrophages stimulated by LPS. Moreover, transfection with KLF7-siRNA caused the marked inhibition of LPS-induced phosphorylation of JNK-MAPKs and also suppressed the levels of p-p65 and inhibited the activation of p-IκBα.Taken together, these results indicate that KLF7 enhances macrophage activation, mediated by JNK-NF-κB signaling pathways in EAT. This suggests that KLF7 may be a potential therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases such as CAD.

Despite physiological importance of aldonic sugar acids for living organisms, little is known about metabolic pathways of these compounds. Here, we investigated the functional diversity of homologs of L-threonic acid dehydrogenase (ThrDH; UniProt ID: Q0KBC7), an enzyme composed of two NAD-binding domains (PF14833 and PF03446). Ten ThrDH homologs with different genomic context were studied; seven new enzymatic activities were identified, such as (R)-pantoate dehydrogenase, L-altronic acid dehydrogenase, 6-deoxy-L-talonate dehydrogenase, L-idonic acid dehydrogenase, D-xylonic acid dehydrogenase, D-gluconic acid dehydrogenase, and 2-hydroxy-3-oxopantoate reductase activities. Two associated metabolic pathways were identified: L-idonic acid dehydrogenase was found to be involved in the degradation of L-idonic acid through oxidation/decarboxylation in Agrobacterium radiobacter K84, while 2-hydroxy-3-oxopantoate reductase was found to participate in D-glucarate catabolism through dehydration/cleavage in Ralstonia metallidurans CH34.

Diamond samples containing silicon and nitrogen are shown to be heavily photochromic, with the dominant visible changes due to simultaneous change in total ${\mathrm{SiV}}^{0/\ensuremath{-}}$ concentration. The photochromism treatment is not capable of creating or destroying SiV defects, and thus we infer the presence of the optically inactive ${\mathrm{SiV}}^{2\ensuremath{-}}$ . We measure spectroscopic signatures we attribute to substitutional silicon in diamond, and identify a silicon-vacancy complex decorated with a nearest-neighbor nitrogen $\mathrm{SiVN}$, supported by theoretical calculations.

目的 分析造血干细胞移植（HSCT）治疗血管免疫母细胞性T细胞淋巴瘤（AITL）的临床疗效。 方法 回顾性分析2007年6月至2017年6月期间在国内八所医院接受HSCT的AITL患者。 结果 共有19例患者纳入本研究，其中男13例，女6例，中位年龄50（32~60）岁；自体造血干细胞移植（auto-HSCT）12例，异基因造血干细胞移植（allo-HSCT）7例（均为同胞全相合供者，其中2例为auto-HSCT后复发患者）。auto-HSCT组移植前疾病处于完全缓解（CR）、部分缓解（PR）状态者分别为5例、7例；allo-HSCT组患者移植前疾病处于PR、疾病进展（PD）状态者分别为2例、3例。失访2例（均为auto-HSCT组），中位随访时间46.5（1~100）个月。allo-HSCT组3例患者发生急性移植物抗宿主病（GVHD）（Ⅰ度2例，Ⅱ度1例），5例发生慢性GVHD（局限型2例，广泛型3例）。auto-HSCT组死亡4例（原发病复发死亡3例），allo-HSCT组死亡3例（移植相关死亡2例，原发病复发死亡1例）。auto-HSCT组（10例）、allo-HSCT组（7例）的3年总生存率分别为56%（95%CI 32%~100%）、57%（95%CI 30%~100%）（P=0.979）；3年累积无进展生存率分别为34%（95%CI 14%~85%）、57%（95%CI 30%~100%）（P=0.451）。 结论 auto-HSCT和allo-HSCT均是AITL的有效治疗方法。

As a promising engineering material, high-entropy alloys (HEAs) CrFeCoNi system has attracted extensive attention worldwide. Their cast alloys are of great importance because of their great formability of complex components, which can be further improved through the transition of the columnar to equiaxed grains and grain refinement. In the current work, the influence of C contents on the grain structures and mechanical properties of the as-cast high-entropy alloy CrFeCoNi was chosen as the target and systematically studied via a hybrid approach of the experiments and thermodynamic calculations. The alloys with various C additions were prepared by arc melting and drop cast. The as-cast macrostructure and microstructure were characterized using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The cast HEAs transform from coarse columnar grains into equiaxed grains with the C level increased to ≥ 2 at. pct and the size of equiaxed grains is further decreased with the increasing C addition. It is revealed that the interdendritic segregation of Cr and C results in grain boundary precipitation of M23C6 carbides. The grain refinement is attributed to the additional constitutional supercoiling from the C addition. The yield stress and tensile strength at room temperature are improved due to the transition of columnar to equiaxed grains and grain refinement.

Recently, porous carbon materials have attracted attention due to their versatile properties. In this study, a hierarchical porous N-doped carbon (NHPC) was successfully synthesized as a catalyst support using a facile method. A large amount of Pd nanoparticles were uniformly loaded on the NHPC with an average diameter of about 4.45 nm. The synthesized Pd/NHPC nanocatalyst exhibited excellent stability and reusability toward the reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) at room temperature. The uniformity and high reusability of Pd/NHPC was mainly attributed to the abundant doped nitrogen as a coordinated site to largely stable Pd nanoparticles. Herein, the excellent properties of NHPC provided ideas for the fabrication of other NHPC supported noble nanoparticles, which can be applied in various catalytic reductive reactions.

Both atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) are increasingly prevalent and related to high hospitalization rate and mortality. AF is a cause as well as a consequence of HF, with complicated interactions resulting in impairment of cardiac systolic and diastolic function. Conversely, the complex structural and neurohormonal alterations in HF contribute to the occurrence and development of AF. However, the molecular mechanism remains unclear. This study aims to explore the effect of Exchange-protein activated by cAMP 1 (EPAC1) on AF in isoproterenol (ISO)-induced HF and the potential molecular mechanism.Mice and cultured isolated adult cardiomyocytes were treated with ISO and or not EPAC1 inhibitor CE3F4. Programmed electrical stimulation (PES) was performed to induce AF. EPAC1 expression was determined by Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot. Cellular electrophysiology was examined by whole cell patch clamp.Both mRNA and protein levels of EPAC1 were upregulated in HF mice. ISO increased the AF susceptibility, and the negative effect was deteriorated by CE3F4. ISO mediated high AF susceptibility of HF via prolonging action potential and exciting L-type calcium channel (LTCC). These could also be reversed by CE3F4 treatment.EPAC1 increased the AF susceptibility in ISO-induced HF mouse model via alternating LTCC.

This work presents a study on the controlled growth of WO3 nanowires via chemical vapor deposition without catalyst, and their potential applications in visible photodetectors. The influence of growth conditions on the morphology of WO3 nanowires is studied in order to understand the growth mechanism of WO3 nanowires, and ultra-long (60 [Formula: see text], the longest one ever reported) WO3 nanowires with a spindle shape are achieved by optimizing the growth conditions. It was found that the length of WO3 nanowires increases from 15 [Formula: see text] to 60 [Formula: see text] with increasing the argon carrier gas flow rate from 30 sccm to 90 sccm, and then saturates with further increasing the argon carrier gas flow rate. However, the length of WO3 nanowires reduces from 60 [Formula: see text] to 19 [Formula: see text] with increasing the tube inner pressure from 2.5 Torr to 3.5 Torr. The photoconductor detectors based on WO3 single nanowires present excellent device performance with a responsivity as high as 19 A W-1 at a bias of 0.1 V, a detectivity as high as 1.06 × 1011 Jones, and a response (rising and decay) time as short as 8 ms under the illumination of a 404 nm laser. These results indicate the great potential of WO3 nanowires for applications in fabricating high performance visible photodetectors.

The effects of foliar application of 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) on chlorophyll content, oxidative damage, and antioxidant capacity in eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) seedlings during a short-term chilling stress and subsequent recovery were investigated. The eggplant seedlings pretreated with 0.1 μM EBR were exposed to 5 °C for 12 h in the dark and then recovered under a normal temperature for another 12 h. The results show that EBR alleviated a chilling-induced oxidative stress reflected by a decrease in malondialdehyde and H2O2 content, O2 ·− production rate, and an increase in chlorophyll content and activities of superoxide dismutase, guaicol peroxidase, and catalase. The EBR pretreatment also promoted activities of ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase, dehydroascorbate reductase, as well as the accumulation of ascorbic acid (AsA) and glutathione (GSH) involved in the AsA-GSH cycle. Moreover, after the12 h recovery, EBR plus chilling treated leaves showed no significant changes in content of MDA and chlorophyll a, lower reactive oxygen species (ROS) content, and greater activities of AsA-GSH cycle enzymes than in seedlings only chilled. The results suggest that EBR alleviated an oxidative damage caused by the dark chilling stress and accelerated a recovery rate mainly through increasing the ROS scavenging system including the AsA-GSH cycle.

The present study investigated the effect of Cu addition on the tensile properties and laser welding performance of Al (1·3 mass-%)–Mn (0·5 mass-%)–Mg alloy sheets. It was found that the addition of Cu in the Al–Mn–Mg alloy sheets increased the ultimate tensile strength; however, the laser welding performance deteriorated. The addition of Cu up to 0·45 mass-% induced the laser welding cracking. Observations of the microstructure indicated that residual Cu bearing eutectic phases existed along the grain boundaries in the alloy with 0·45 mass-%Cu, which decreased the ductility of the grain boundaries and resulted in the formation of cracks along the grain boundaries during the solidification process after laser welding.

This study was carried out to understand the mechanism of protection of plants under cold stress by exogenous 24-epibrassinolide (EBR). The eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) seedlings were pretreated with five concentrations of EBR (0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.4 °M) and then exposed to day/night temperatures of 10/5 °C for 8 d. The results show that EBR, especially 0.1 °M EBR, dramatically alleviated growth suppression and a decrease in chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate caused by the cold stress. In addition, EBR also decreased malondialdehyde content and O2·− production rate induced by the cold stress, and increased the activities of superoxide dismutase, guaiacol peroxidase, catalase, and ascorbate peroxidase, and proline content. The results of the present study suggest that exogenous EBR could improve cold tolerance of eggplant by regulating photosynthesis and antioxidative systems.

RNA-seq data of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was analyzed to identify critical genes related to the pathogenesis and prognosis.Three RNA-seq datasets of HCC (GSE69164, GSE63863 and GSE55758) were downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), while another dataset including 54 HCC cases with survival time was obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified by significant analysis of microarrays (SAM) method using package samr of R. As followed, we constructed a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network based on the information in Human Protein Reference Database (HPRD). Modules in the PPI network were identified with MCODE method using plugin clusterViz of CytoScape. Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis and pathway enrichment analysis were performed with DAVID. The difference in survival curves was analyzed with Kaplan-Meier (K-M) method using package survival.A total of 2572 DEGs were identified in the 3 datasets from GEO (GSE69164, GSE63863 and GSE55758). The PPI network was constructed including 660 nodes and 1008 edges, and 4 modules were disclosed in the network. Module A (containing 244 DEGs) was found to related to HCC closely, which genes were involved in transcription factor binding, protein metabolism as well as regulation of apoptosis. Nine hub genes were identified in the module A, including PRKCA, YWHAZ, KRT18, NDRG1, HSPA1A, HSP90AA1, HSF1, IKGKB and UBE21. The network provides the protein-protein interaction of these critical genes, which were implicated in the pathogenesis of HCC. Survival analysis showed that there is a significant difference between two groups classified by the genes in module A. Further Univariate Cox regression analysis showed that 72 genes were associated with survival time significantly, such as NPM1, PRKDC, SPARC, HMGA1, COL1A1 and COL1A2.Nine critical genes related to the pathogenesis and 72 potential prognostic markers were revealed in HCC by the network and module analysis of RNA-seq data. These findings could improve the understanding of the pathogenesis and provide valuable information to further investigate the prognostic markers of HCC.

Wind-solar hybrid generation system can significantly improve the utilization efficiency of intermittent renewable energy as it can make full use of the complementarity of wind-solar. Meanwhile, it will affect the low frequency characteristics of power system. Effect of different wind-solar accommodation conditions on low frequency oscillation characteristics of power system are analyzed based on IEEE 2-area 4-unit system. Eigenvalue analysis and dynamic time-domain simulation are adopted to figure out the influence, including different factors such as separate integration, grid-connected integration points and hybrid capacity ratios of wind-solar.

Children with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have a high prevalence of antiphospholipid (aPL) antibodies and are at increased risk for aPL-related thrombosis. We investigated the association between annexin A5 anticoagulant activity and antibodies to the domain I portion of β2-glycoprotein I (anti-DI antibodies), and propose a potential mechanism for the pathogenesis of aPL-related thrombosis. Using samples from 183 children with SLE collected during the Atherosclerosis Prevention in Pediatric Lupus Erythematosus (APPLE) trial, we examined resistance to the anticoagulant effects of annexin A5, using the annexin A5 resistance (A5R) assay, and evaluated for anti-DI IgG antibodies. To characterise the roles of NO in the tolerance of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) to salt stress, the protective effects of exogenous sodium nitroprusside (SNP), a donor of NO, applied at different concentrations (0, 0.05, 0.1, or 0.2 mM), on plant biomass, photosynthesis, and anti-oxidant capacity were evaluated. The effects of exogenous 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) on the growth, oxidative damage, antioxidant system and ion contents in eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) seedlings under salt stress were investigated. Eggplant seedlings were exposed to 90 mM NaCl with 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.20 mg dm−3 EBR for 10 d. EBR, especially at concentration 0.05 mg dm−3, alleviated growth suppression caused by NaCl stress, decreased electrolyte leakage, superoxide production and content of malondialdehyde and H2O2 in NaCl-treated plants. EBR also increased activities of superoxide dismutase, guaiacol peroxidase, catalase and ascorbate peroxidase and the contents of ascorbic acid and reduced glutathione. Furthermore, we also found that Na+, Cl− contents were decreased, K+, Ca2+ contents and K+/Na+, Ca2+/Na+ ratios were increased in the presence of EBR under salt stress.

To use the 3.0T susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) for universality analysis of the "swallow tail" appearance in the substantia nigra of non-Parkinson disease and discuss its lack of the value of imaging diagnosis of Parkinson disease (PD).Take 3.0TMR SWI in 60 PD patients (Group PD) and non-PD volunteers (Group N-PD), on the map of range analyze morphology and number of "swallow tail" appearance in substantia nigra of N-PD group volunteers, and compare the performance image of the corresponding region of the patients in the PD group.After, 15 patients with lesions in the brain stem and significant motion artifacts were excluded. Forty-nine cases of group N-PD (96.08%) had typical "swallow tail" appearance in the bilateral or unilateral substantia nigra compacta posterolateral. All 54 patients with group PD (100%) lacked the "drop" rear elliptical high signal.On the 3.0T SWI range map, the "swallow tail" appearance is ubiquitous in the substantia nigra of patients with non-PD. The deficiency of the signs has high sensitivity and specificity for PD diagnosis.

Associations between the stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1) gene and the Diacylglycerol-O-acyltransferase 1 (DGAT1) polymorphisms with milk production traits were analyzed using data from 1061 Chinese Holstein cows located in the Delta Region of Yangtze River in China. Milk production traits included test day observations for milk yield (TDMY), fat content (FC), protein content (PC), lactose content (LC), total solid (TS), milk urea nitrogen (MUN), somatic cell score (SCS), as well as lactation records, i.e. 305-day FCM yield, 305-day fat yield and 305-day protein yield. A total of 8,162 test day records were analyzed using a linear mixed model including the fixed effects of sire, herd, test year, test season, parity, calving season, milking day, gene locus, and the random effect of the cow. The effects of the SCD1 genotype on TDMY, FCM (fat corrected milk yield), FC, PC, SCS and 305-day FCM yield were analyzed. Cows with genotype AA produced significantly higher TDMY and FCM compared to cows with genotype AV or VV, but had lower values for FC and PC. Furthermore, the effects of the DGAT1 genotype on TDMY, FCM, FC, PC, TS, 305-day FCM, 305-day fat yield and 305-day protein yield were analyzed. Association studies revealed significantly lower TDMY, FCM and 305-day FCM yield for cows with genotype KK compared to genotypes KA or AA. In contrast, the KK genotype was superior with regard to FC, PC and TS. Cows with genotype KA produced higher 305-day fat yield and 305-day protein yield compared to genotypes AA or KK. These findings suggest a possible use of SCD1 and DGAT1 loci in marker-assisted selection programs for the improvement of milk production traits in dairy cattle from the Delta Region of Yangtze River in China.

To assess the imaging features of nigrosomes-1 in the substantia nigra through 3T MR susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI) and its disease-specific changes for the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD).A total of 116 subjects were included in this study and allocated into 3 groups: 54 patients diagnosed with PD were assigned to the PD group, 51 age- and sex-matched volunteers without PD served as the control N-PD group, and 11 clinically suspected PD patients were allocated to the undiagnosed (UD) group. All patients received 3.0T superconducting MRI scanning on xxx. The images were analyzed and compared to assess the ability of nigrosomes-1 signals to depict PD pathology.The signals of nigrosomes-1 were strong, droplet-like or oval in shape, and were found in 49 patients from the N-PD group (96.08%), on both sides of the SN (47 cases) and unilaterally (2 cases). In contrast, these signals were absent in all 54 cases from the PD group, and were undetected in 7 out of 11 cases in the UD group, 7 cases without the "drop" and 1 case with narrow strips of hyperintensity were clinically proven to PD, 2 cases with the typical hyperintensity were clinically proven to Parkinson's plus syndrome, 2 cases with slightly wider strip of hyperintensity were less sensitive to the drug levodopa.The absence of typical droplet-like or oval-shaped nigrosomes-1 signals in 3.0T MR SWI may prove useful in identifying PD and Parkinson's syndrome with high sensitivity and specificity.

Based on the five wild Chinese sturgeons which were captured from the Yichang section of the Yangtze River, and the 323 offsprings of the Chinese sturgeons, were studied as to their survival, development and behaviour under aquarium conditions between 2005 and 2007 in the captive environment of an aquarium. All five wild caught females survived, with weight gains ranging from 0.55% (Specimen W1#: Onset: 320.00 kg, Final: 336.00 kg; across 27 months) to 10.00% of original body weight (Specimen W32#: Onset: 125.00 kg, Final: 175.00 kg; across 4 months). In addition, the gonads of one captured fish redeveloped to stage IV by August 2007. The changes of the depth in the tank were observed before, during and after active food intake. Furthermore, the fish formed strong feeding associations with live food items, such as Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, Cyprinus carpio, and Paralichthys lethostigma, while rarely feeding on Hexagrammos otakii and Epinephelus awoara, occasionally on Monopterus albus, Penaeus vannamei, Leiocassis longirostris, and never on Eriocheir sinensis H. Milne-Edwards, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus, Silurus asotus Linnaeus, Octopus variabilis, Anadara uropygimelana. The development of food preferences in the captive environment suggest that these Chinese sturgeon successfully acclimated to the large aquarium, in addition, the survival rate of the filial generation offspring was 86%. Across the study period, for the older captive bred offspring (1997 and 2001 stocks) minimum weight increase per month was 4.28% (F1-2001: Onset: 12.24 +/- 1.11 kg, Final: 25.35 +/- 2.10 kg; over 25 months) and the minimum lengthwise growth rate per month was 1.39% (F1-1997: Onset: 187.32 +/- 1.32 cm, Final: 260.00 cm; across 28 months). However, the youngest sturgeon (the 2005 offspring), had the highest weight gain of 29.35% per month (Onset: 16.50 +/- 1.92 kg, Final: 8733.33 +/- 739.80 kg; across 18 months) and lengthwise growth rate 35.70% per month (Onset: 15.53 +/- 0.77 cm, Final: 115.33 +/- 4.14 cm; across 18 months) respectively.

Blood serum parameters from Chinese sturgeons (Acipenser sinensis) were examined during a 27 day gradual acclimation period from seawater (26.7 salinity) to slightly brackish water (2.5 parts per thousand) and subsequent transfer to freshwater (0 parts per thousand salinity) for a further 30 day period. The results were compared against serum samples from a control group reared throughout in freshwater. For each fish, the levels of 24 serum biochemical parameters were examined. The results indicated that gradual transfer from seawater to brackish water caused the serum concentrations for potassium, sodium, and calcium ions to decrease. This trend was also observed for blood urea-nitrogen (BUN), inosine (CR), uric acid (UA), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), and total bile acid (TBA). All other serum parameters showed only transient changes or no changes at all. After being held subsequently for 30 days in freshwater, the four ion concentrations returned to values considered normal for seawater, indicating that Chinese sturgeon are capable of homeostasis. However, the other six parameters did not return to initial values. In fact, ALP, ALT and Fe(2+) levels were raised in comparison to the freshwater control group. These observations indicate that major physiological changes occur during the acclimation process. Specifically, at 21 parts per thousand salinity a number of biochemical parameters were subject to noticeable fluctuations, suggesting this level may represent the pivotal condition of physiological regulation. Hence, it may be energetically costly for osmoregulatory processes to return to normal in Chinese sturgeon, due to metabolic and nutrient related functions taking much longer to recover.

With the development of photoelectric technology and single-chip microcomputer technology, objective optometry, also known as automatic optometry, is becoming precise. This paper proposed a presbyopia optometry method based on diopter regulation and Charge Couple Device (CCD) imaging technology and, in the meantime, designed a light path that could measure the system. This method projects a test figure to the eye ground and then the reflected image from the eye ground is detected by CCD. The image is then automatically identified by computer and the far point and near point diopters are determined to calculate lens parameter. This is a fully automatic objective optometry method which eliminates subjective factors of the tested subject. Furthermore, it can acquire the lens parameter of presbyopia accurately and quickly and can be used to measure the lens parameter of hyperopia, myopia and astigmatism.
