We review the range of applications and use of multi spacecraft techniques, applicable to close formation arrays of spacecraft, focusing on spatial gradient based methods, and the curlometer in particular. The curlometer was originally applied to Cluster multi-spacecraft magnetic field data, but later was updated for different environments and measurement constraints such as the NASA MMS mission, small-scale formation of 4 spacecraft; the 3 spacecraft configurations of the NASA THEMIS mision, and derived 2-4 point measurements from the ESA Swarm mission. In general, spatial gradient based methods are adaptable to a range of multi-point and multi-scale arrays. We also review the range of other techniques based on the computation of magnetic field gradients and magnetic field topology in general, including: magnetic rotation analysis and various least squares approaches. We review Taylor expansion methodology (FOTE), in particular, which has also been applied to both Cluster and MMS constellations, as well as interpretation of simulations. Four-point estimates of magnetic gradients are limited by uncertainties in spacecraft separations and the magnetic field, as well as the presence of non-linear gradients and temporal evolution. Nevertheless, the techniques can be reliable in many magnetospheric regions where time stationarity is largely applicable, or when properties of the morphology can be assumed (for example, the expected orientation of underlying large-scale structure). Many magnetospheric regions have been investigated directly (illustrated here by the magnetopause, ring current and field-aligned currents at high and low altitudes), and options for variable numbers of spacecraft have been considered. The comparative use of plasma measurements and possible new methodology for arrays of spacecraft greater than four are also considered briefly.

The lateral movement of drainage divides is co-influenced by tectonics, lithology, and climate and therefore archives a wealth of geologic and climatic information. It also has wide-ranging implications for topography, the sedimentary record, and biological evolution and thus has drawn much attention in recent years. Several methods have been proposed to determine drainage divides' migration state (direction and rate), including geochronological approaches (e.g., 10Be) and topography-based approaches (e.g., χ plots or Gilbert metrics). A key object in these methods is the channel head, which separates the hillslope and channel. However, due to the limited resolution of topography data, the required channel-head parameters in the calculation often cannot be determined accurately, and empirical values are used in the calculation, which may induce uncertainties. Here, we propose two methods to calculate the migration rate of drainage divides based on the relatively accurate channel-head parameters derived from high-resolution topographic data. We then apply the methods to an active rift shoulder (Wutai Shan) in the Shanxi Rift and a tectonically stable area (Yingwang Shan) in the Loess Plateau, to illustrate how to calculate drainage-divide migration rates. Our results show that the Wutai Shan drainage divide is migrating northwestward at a rate between 0.21 and 0.27 mm yr−1, whereas the migration rates at the Yingwang Shan are approximately zero. This study indicates that the drainage-divide stability can be determined more accurately using high-resolution topographic data. Furthermore, this study takes the cross-divide differences in the uplift rate of channel heads into account in the measurement of drainage-divide migration rate for the first time.

The joint European Space Agency and Chinese Academy of Sciences Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE) mission will explore global dynamics of the magnetosphere under varying solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field conditions, and simultaneously monitor the auroral response of the Northern Hemisphere ionosphere. Combining these large-scale responses with medium and fine-scale measurements at a variety of cadences by additional ground-based and space-based instruments will enable a much greater scientific impact beyond the original goals of the SMILE mission. Here, we describe current community efforts to prepare for SMILE, and the benefits and context various experiments that have explicitly expressed support for SMILE can offer. A dedicated group of international scientists representing many different experiment types and geographical locations, the Ground-based and Additional Science Working Group, is facilitating these efforts. Preparations include constructing an online SMILE Data Fusion Facility, the discussion of particular or special modes for experiments such as coherent and incoherent scatter radar, and the consideration of particular observing strategies and spacecraft conjunctions. We anticipate growing interest and community engagement with the SMILE mission, and we welcome novel ideas and insights from the solar-terrestrial community.

The results of large-eddy simulations are presented to illustrate the flow structures generated by the interaction of synthetic jets with a crossflow. The coupled calculations involving the internal flow of the actuator cavity and the external flow are performed using the ANSYS-Fluent software. The influence of the orifice shape (round orifice and rectangular orifices with aspect ratio of 6, 12, or 18) on the evolution of coherent structures is analyzed, and the effects of the jet-to-crossflow velocity ratio (0.5, 1.0, or 1.5) on the turbulent flow behavior are examined. The results show that the first vortex ring shed from the rectangular orifice lip behaves as a plate-like vortex. The horseshoe vortex and first vortex ring are followed by a trailing jet in the case of a round orifice, but this configuration is rarely identified when the orifice is rectangular. For the rectangular orifice with an aspect ratio of 18, the plate-like vortex splits into vortex filaments that become interwoven with the center of the synthetic jet. In general, at the same characteristic velocity, the round-orifice synthetic jet has a stronger capacity for normal penetration into the crossflow, whereas the rectangular-orifice synthetic jet with a large aspect ratio develops closer to the wall. For the rectangular orifice with a large aspect ratio, the development of the synthetic jet is restricted to a small region near the wall at a small jet-to-crossflow velocity ratio.

In this paper, numerical simulation methods are adopted to explore the influencing factors of a Ceramic Catalytic Turbine (CCT) for reduced exhaust pollution from vehicles during the warm-up stage. Also, an analysis is conducted regarding the potential effects of turbulence on the catalytic reaction mechanism and the sensitivity of relevant parameters to the Arrhenius equation. It is found out that the air-fuel ratio inside the engine has a considerable effect on the reactions of CCT, with the conversion efficiency of each emission species sharply reduced under fuel-rich conditions. At 600K, the conversion efficiency declines by 11.3% for C3H6, 12.26% for CO, and 3.64% for NO. At 700K, the conversion efficiency is reduced by 6.7% for C3H6, 11.56% for CO, and 6.44% for NO. Despite increasing the concentration of reaction gas components, a high flow rate makes little difference to the reaction itself. At the same rotational speed of the turbine, the conversion rate of harmful components drops with an increase in flow rate due to the increase in space velocity. When the flow rate is constant and the temperature is kept in the control zone of chemical kinetics, the conversion efficiency of the catalytic reaction is enhanced at a higher rotational speed. Differently, when the temperature is in the control zone of mass transport and the flow rate is constant, the conversion efficiency decreases as the turbine accelerates. In practical terms, reducing activation energy within a controllable range is equivalent to further reducing the light-off temperature of the catalyst. Meanwhile, this may disrupt the convergence of numerical calculations because the catalytic reactions could occur at around the light-off temperature.

Charge exchange is a predominant process in inelastic collisions in astronomical plasmas, influencing the charge state balance and leading to X-ray emissions when solar wind ions interact with neutral gas in astrophysical environments. Accurate analysis of these dynamic properties to diagnose the solar wind composition and velocities, as well as the spatial distribution of the heliospheric neutral gas, can be hindered by the limited availability of relevant electron capture studies in the corresponding energy range. The absolute total and $n$ -resolved state-selective cross sections of single electron capture have been measured in the collisional energy range from 2.8 to 40 keV u ^−1 , covering velocities corresponding to fast solar wind and coronal mass ejections. In comparison with existing atomic data, we observe good agreement with other results at overlapping energies. Based on the absolute $n$ -state electron capture cross sections, the absolute cross sections of photon emissions following charge exchange between Ne ^8+ and H _2 , as well as He gas, were determined for the potential applications in high-resolution X-ray spectra studies of solar wind charge exchange. This work serves as a benchmark for validating the theoretical calculations of charge exchange cross sections and astronomical plasma models, providing valuable insights into the investigation of soft X-ray emissions in solar wind plasma environments.

The occurrence of shade and drought stress either individually or simultaneously causes altered morphophysiological and molecular responses in crops. Nevertheless, responses of crop plants to combined shade and drought stress are unique as compared to those of individually occurring stress which urges need to study and identify distinctions, commonalities, and the interaction between responses of plants to these concurrent stress factors. In the present review, we outlined currently available knowledge on responses of plants to shade and drought stress on a shared as well as the unique basis and tried to find a common thread potentially underlying these responses. Then, we briefly described some plausible mitigation strategies to cope with these stresses along with future perspectives. A deeper insight into plant responses to co-occurring shade and drought stress will help us to generate crops with broad-spectrum stress tolerance and increased resilience to such stresses in high planting densities or intercropping systems, thus, ensuring food security.

Next-generation high frequency, high power density, and high operating temperature electrical machines require superior materials which possess an attractive combination of structural as well as functional properties. Development of such new materials by conventional methods is very slow, expensive, and restricted to a few compositions. Hence, we addressed this challenge by the accelerated assessment of multiple properties of a range of Fe-Co-Ni based material compositions. We utilized the magnetron co-sputtering method to prepare compositionally modulated ternary Fe-Co-Ni thin film alloy (TFA) libraries. The structural, electrical, magnetic, and mechanical properties of these libraries were assessed. The structure and properties were found to vary over a wide range with composition and thin film processing parameters. The Fe-Co-Ni TFA library prepared at a substrate temperature of 500 °C exhibited a good combination of multiple properties. The specific alloy composition Ni54.9Co33.1Fe12 was found to possess an attractive blend of properties. Thus, a rapid property assessment of TFA libraries of a wide range of compositions and processing conditions was successfully used to identify a novel specific composition and processing protocol which exhibited an attractive mix of properties.

Automatic registration of optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images is a challenging task due to significant geometric deformation and radiometric differences between two images. To address this issue, this paper proposes an automatic registration method for optical and SAR images based on spatial geometric constraint and structure features. Firstly, the Harris detector with a block strategy is used to extract evenly distributed feature points in the images. Subsequently, a local geometric correction is performed by using the Rational Function Model, which eliminates the rotation and scale differences between optical and SAR images. Secondly, orientated gradient information of images is used to construct a geometric structural feature descriptor. Then, the feature descriptor is transformed into the frequency domain, and the three-dimensional (3-D) phase correlation is used as the similarity metric to achieve correspondences by employing a template matching scheme. Finally, mismatches are eliminated based on spatial geometric constraint relationship between images, followed by a process of geometric correction to achieve the image registration. Experimental results with multiple high-resolution optical and SAR images show that the proposed method can achieve reliable registration accuracy, and outperforms the state of the art methods.

Abstract Using a sample of $$1.31\times 10^{9} ~J/\psi $$ 1.31×109J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of $$J/\psi \rightarrow \gamma K{\bar{K}}\eta '$$ J/ψ→γKK¯η′ . X(2370) is observed in the $$K{\bar{K}}\eta '$$ KK¯η′ invariant-mass distribution with a statistical significance of $$8.3\sigma $$ 8.3σ . Its resonance parameters are measured to be $$M=2341.6\pm 6.5 \, \text {(stat.)} \pm 5.7 \, \text {(syst.)}~ \hbox {MeV}/c^{2}$$ M=2341.6±6.5(stat.)±5.7(syst.)MeV/c2 and $$\Gamma = 117\pm 10 \, \text {(stat.)}\pm 8 \, \text {(syst.)}~\hbox {MeV}$$ Γ=117±10(stat.)±8(syst.)MeV . The product branching fractions for $$J/\psi \rightarrow \gamma X(2370),X(2370)\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}\eta '$$ J/ψ→γX(2370),X(2370)→K+K-η′ and $$J/\psi \rightarrow \gamma X(2370),X(2370)\rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}\eta '$$ J/ψ→γX(2370),X(2370)→KS0KS0η′ are determined to be $$(1.79\pm 0.23\, \text {(stat.)}\pm 0.65\,\text {(syst.)})\times 10^{-5}$$ (1.79±0.23(stat.)±0.65(syst.))×10-5 and $$(1.18\pm 0.32\, \text {(stat.)}\pm 0.39\, \text {(syst.)})\times 10^{-5}$$ (1.18±0.32(stat.)±0.39(syst.))×10-5 , respectively. No evident signal for X(2120) is observed in the $$K{\bar{K}}\eta '$$ KK¯η′ invariant-mass distribution. The upper limits for the product branching fractions of $${\mathcal {B}}(J/\psi \rightarrow \gamma X(2120)\rightarrow \gamma K^{+} K^{-} \eta ')$$ B(J/ψ→γX(2120)→γK+K-η′) and $${\mathcal {B}}(J/\psi \rightarrow \gamma X(2120)\rightarrow \gamma K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} \eta ')$$ B(J/ψ→γX(2120)→γKS0KS0η′) are determined to be $$1.49\times 10^{-5}$$ 1.49×10-5 and $$6.38\times 10^{-6}$$ 6.38×10-6 at the 90% confidence level, respectively.

Leachate waste consists of various mixtures of organic, inorganic, and heavy metal contaminants, which are responsible for groundwater and surface water contamination. Landfills apply physical, chemical, and biological processes for the treatment of leachate. Most studies on leachate treatment by coagulation and flocculation are based on the selection and performance of natural based biopolymers in comparison with various inorganic metal salts and grafted polymers used for the removal of contaminants. In addition, adsorption processes utilizing non-conventional activated carbons as absorbents are the current emerging focus of the researchers in leachate treatment. These adsorbents are low-in-cost, efficient, and renewable compared to conventional adsorbents. The present paper aimed to evaluate and review the technology utilising various greener approaches in coagulation, flocculation, and adsorption as the physicochemical approaches to leachate treatment. The challenges and future work regarding the development of these green products in the commercial markets were comprehensively evaluated.

It has been demonstrated that the application of time-varying hydrological-model parameters based on dynamic catchment behavior significantly improves the accuracy and robustness of conventional models. However, the fundamental problems for calibrating dynamic parameters still need to be addressed. In this study, five calibration schemes for dynamic parameters in hydrological models were designed to investigate the underlying causes of poor model performance. The five schemes were assessed with respect to the model performance in different flow phases, the transferability of the dynamic parameters to different time periods, the state variables and fluxes time series, and the response of the dynamic parameter set to the dynamic catchment characteristics. Furthermore, the potential reasons for the poor response of the dynamic parameter set to the catchment dynamics were investigated. The results showed that the underlying causes of poor model performance included time-invariant parameters, “compensation” among parameters, high dimensionality and abrupt shifts in the parameters. The recommended calibration scheme exhibited good performance and overcame these problems by characterizing the dynamic behavior of the catchments. The main reason for the poor response of the dynamic parameter set to the catchment dynamics may be the poor convergence performance of the parameters. In addition, the assessment results of the state variables and fluxes and the convergence performance of the parameters provided robust indications of the dominant response modes of the hydrological models in different sub-periods or catchments with distinguishing catchment characteristics.

Abstract The World Meteorological Organization stipulates a minimum of 30 years of historical data is needed to obtain meaningful results in climatological research. However, large numbers of studies have explored downscaling approaches based on the TRMM Multi‐Satellite Precipitation Analysis (TMPA) data, which span only from 1998 to the present, to obtain the precipitation estimates (~1‐km resolution). The main aim of the present study was to develop a new method for obtaining long‐term (>30 years) precipitation estimates at ~1‐km resolution and to apply that method to a region with complex topography, the Tibetan Plateau. First, PERSIANN‐CDR (Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information using Artificial Neural Networks—Climate Data Record) data were used for downscaling. Considering the characteristics of the PERSIANN‐CDR data, a new downscaling‐calibration procedure utilizing a combination of a spatial data mining downscaling algorithm (Cubist) and a geographical ratio analysis calibration method was proposed. We found that (1) both the original PERSIANN‐CDR data (Bias ~40.79%) and the downscaled results before calibration (Bias ~26.78%) overestimated the precipitation compared with ground observations; (2) the final downscaled results based on the PERSIANN‐CDR data after calibration were close to the ground observations (Bias ~5%); (3) compared to the results interpolated based on the PERSIANN‐CDR data (E

Cybernetics provides a new set of ideas and methods for the study of modern science, and it has been fully applied in many areas. However, few people have introduced cybernetics into the field of remote sensing. The paper is based on the imaging process of remote sensing system, introducing cybernetics into the field of remote sensing, establishing a space-time closed-loop control theory for the actual operation of remote sensing. The paper made the process of spatial information coherently, and improved the comprehensive efficiency of the space information from acquisition, procession, transformation to application. We not only describes the application of cybernetics in remote sensing platform control, sensor control, data processing control, but also in whole system of remote sensing imaging process control. We achieve the information of output back to the input to control the efficient operation of the entire system. This breakthrough combination of cybernetics science and remote sensing science will improve remote sensing science to a higher level.

SIRT1 is the gene that codes for Sirtuin 1, an NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide)-dependent class III histone deacetylase. This gene plays a key role in adipose tissue and muscle development in animals. Chinese Luxi cattle (n = 169) were selected to identify SIRT1 SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) and investigate the relationship of these SNPs with carcass traits. Five SNPs (g.-382G > A, g.-274C > G, g.17324T > C, g.17379A > G, and g.17491G > A) were identified by direct sequencing. SNPs g.-382G > A and g.-274C > G were located within the promoter region of this gene. SNP g.-382G > A was significantly associated with dressing percentage, meat percentage, and striploin and ribeye weights, and the g.-274C > G polymorphism had a strong effect on carcass, tenderloin, and high rib weights in Luxi cattle. These findings will provide possible clues for the biological roles of SIRT1 underlying beef cattle carcass traits.

Thin living tissue slices have recently emerged as a new tissue model for cardiac electrophysiological research. Slices can be produced from human cardiac tissue, in addition to small and large mammalian hearts, representing a powerful in vitro model system for preclinical and translational heart research. In the present protocol, we describe a detailed mouse heart transverse slicing and optical imaging methodology. The use of this technology for high-throughput optical imaging allows study of electrophysiology of murine hearts in an organotypic pseudo two-dimensional model. The slices are cut at right angles to the long axis of the heart, permitting robust interrogation of transmembrane potential (Vm) and calcium transients (CaT) throughout the entire heart with exceptional regional precision. This approach enables the use of a series of slices prepared from the ventricles to measure Vm and CaT with high temporal and spatial resolution, allowing (i) comparison of successive slices which form a stack representing the original geometry of the heart; (ii) profiling of transmural and regional gradients in Vm and CaT in the ventricle; (iii) characterization of transmural and regional profiles of action potential and CaT alternans under stress (e.g., high frequency pacing or β-adrenergic stimulation) or pathological conditions (e.g., hypertrophy). Thus, the protocol described here provides a powerful platform for innovative research on electrical and calcium handling heterogeneity within the heart. It can be also combined with optogenetic technology to carry out optical stimulation; aiding studies of cellular Vm and CaT in a cell type specific manner.

In this work, a Wheatstone bridge-type pressure sensor based on AlGaN/GaN heterostructure was fabricated for the first time. The pressure sensor consisted of four gateless high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) on a 585 μm depth circular membrane, in which 15-μm-thick silicon substrate was left. Direct voltage readout was realized in the AlGaN/GaN pressure sensor, which exhibited a non-linearity of 0.6% with a sensitivity of 1.25 μV/kPa/V over a wide pressure range from 0.1 MPa to 5 MPa. Because of the in-plane isotropic properties, the working mechanism in the AlGaN/GaN pressure sensor is found to be quite different from the silicon-based sensor. Although the resistances of the four gateless HEMTs all increased with enlarging pressure, the changes of neighboring resistors varied with alignments under the piezoelectric effects. Finally, voltage linear readout was realized by the differential operation of Wheatstone bridge circuit.

Flooding caused serious losses in China in the past two decades; therefore, responding to and mitigating the impact of flooding is a task of critical importance. The traditional flood response process is usually very time-consuming and labor-intensive. The Service-Oriented Architecture （SOA）-based flood response is a method with low efficiency due to the large volume of geospatial data transfer, and this method cannot meet the real-time requirement of a rapid response to flooding. This paper presents an Agent- and Cloud-supported geospatial service aggregation to obtain a more efficient geospatial service system for the response to flooding. The architecture of this method is designed and deployed on the Cloud environment, and the flooding response prototype system is built on the Amazon AWS Cloud to demonstrate that the proposed method can avoid transferring large volumes of geospatial data or Big Spatial Data. Consequently, this method is able to achieve better performance than that of the SOA-based method.

According to the existing problems in the applications of embedded navigation, this paper designs the hierarchical search A*algorithm, based on the transferring road network, to meet the need of real-time navigation. In the algorithm, a hierarchical search strategy is applied to route programming of large area, yet the duplicate searching A* algorithm, based on the transferring road network, is applied to the path computation, which is able to handle intersection turn restrictions and node weight, with little storage space but fast searching speed. Practically, the algorithm is proved to meet the technological need of real-time navigation both in computing speed and route rationality.

Steam ejector is widely applied in chemical industry and many papers have published to investigate the structure configuration effects on the performance. Previous studies showed that the throat length of steam ejector has little influence on its performance. In this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics model of steam ejector is established to investigate the effects of ejector’s throat on its performance. The result shows that ejector’s length has little influence on its entrainment ratio. But, there is optimum throat length corresponding to biggest critical back pressure and which is corresponding with the biggest operating flexibility of steam ejectors. So, ejector’s throat length has an important effect on its operating flexibility and cannot be over- looked during the design process of steam ejectors.

The plain-orifice is the most common type of atomizer. The flow regime inside plain-orifice nozzle has a tremendous effect on the external spray. At present, the judgement method of the flow pattern is not uniform. The purpose of this study is to numerically investigate the relationship between the change of flow pattern, the ratio of nozzle length and nozzle diameter (L/d), the ratio of nozzle radius of the entrance and nozzle diameter (r/d) in plain-orifice nozzle. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code FLUENT was used to perform the numerical simulation of the cavitating flow and hydraulic flip in the nozzles. In this paper, the relationship between the change of flow pattern, r/d and L/d was obtained, and the relation curves between L/d and r/d were plotted, and a new model of flow pattern was obtained. The model established in this paper is more accurate than the empirical model to judge the change of flow pattern. The new model is helpful to modify the existing empirical model. According to the relationship, the researcher can use the method of reasonably adjusting the relationship between the nozzle structure and operating conditions to avoid the generation of hydraulic flip, and to get better atomization effect.

School-based service providers must understand how to best measure academic skill development given its key role in improving long-term outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Curriculum-based measurement (CBM), which has applications for foundational academic skill areas of reading, writing, and mathematics, may be one way to determine academic intervention targets and progress monitor academic skills for students with ASD, but the extent of the literature base is unknown. Results of this scoping review regarding use of CBM with autistic students indicated few studies, overall. Studies had a wide range of sample sizes and primarily focused on intervention, using CBM as progress or outcome measures. Numerous demographic characteristics and study elements were absent from the literature. Future directions for this area of research and the implications for assessment in response to instruction for students with ASD are presented.

A thickness distribution model of photoresist spin-coating on concave spherical substrate (CSS) has been developed via both theoretical studies and experimental verification. The stress of photoresist on rotating CSS is analyzed and the boundary conditions of hydrodynamic equation are presented under the non-lubricating condition. Moreover, a multivariable polynomial equation of photoresist-layer thickness distribution is derived by analyzing and deducing the flow equation where the evaporation rate, substrate topography, interface slip between liquid and CSS, and the variation of rotational speed and photoresist parameters are considered in detail. Importantly, the photoresist-layer thickness at various CSS rotational speeds and liquid concentrations can be obtained according to the theoretical equation. The required photoresist viscosity and concentration parameters of different photoresist coating thickness under a certain coating speeds can be also solved through this equation. It is noted that the calculated theoretical values are well consistent with the experimental results which were measured with various CSS rotational speeds and liquid concentrations at steady state. Therefore, both our experimental results and theoretical analysis provide the guidance for photoresist dilution and pave the way for potential improvements and microfabrication applications in the future.

We report on unusual low temperature (175 °C) heteroepitaxial growth of germanium thin films using a standard radio-frequency plasma process. Spectroscopic ellipsometry and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) reveal a perfect crystalline quality of epitaxial germanium layers on (100) c-Ge wafers. In addition direct germanium crystal growth is achieved on (100) c-Si, despite 4.2% lattice mismatch. Defects rising from Ge/Si interface are mostly located within the first tens of nanometers, and threading dislocation density (TDD) values as low as 106 cm−2 are obtained. Misfit stress is released fast: residual strain of −0.4% is calculated from Moiré pattern analysis. Moreover we demonstrate a striking feature of low temperature plasma epitaxy, namely the fact that crystalline quality improves with thickness without epitaxy breakdown, as shown by TEM and depth profiling of surface TDD.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) significantly impact human health due to their persistence, toxicity, and potential carcinogenicity. Their global distribution and regional changes caused by emission changes, especially over areas in developing countries, remain to be understood along with their health impacts. This study implemented a PAH module in the global–regional nested Atmospheric Aerosol and Chemistry Model of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP-AACM) to investigate the global distribution of PAHs and the change in their health risks from 2013 to 2018 in China. An evaluation against observations showed that the model could capture well the spatial distribution and seasonal variation in Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), the typical indicator species of PAHs. On a global scale, the annual mean concentrations are the highest in China followed by Europe and India, with high values exceeding the target values of 1 ng m−3 over some areas. Compared with 2013, the concentration of BaP in China decreased in 2018 due to emission reductions, whereas it increased in India and southern Africa. However, the decline is much smaller than for PM2.5 during the same period. The concentration of BaP decreased by 8.5 % in Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) and 9.4 % in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD). It even increased over areas in the Sichuan Basin due to changes in meteorological conditions. The total incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) posed by BaP only showed a slight decrease in 2018, and the population in east China still faced significant potential health risks. The results indicate that strict additional control measures should be taken to reduce the pollution and health risks of PAHs effectively. The study also highlights the importance of considering changes in meteorological conditions when evaluating emission changes from concentration monitoring.

ABSTRACT: Cow milk, although rich in essential nutrients, is a well-known food allergen that can cause allergic reactions in infants and young children. β-Lactoglobulin accounts for 10% of the total protein in milk and 50% of the whey protein, which has high nutritional value and excellent functional properties but is also the main allergen leading to milk protein allergy. Exploring the mechanism of milk allergy and selecting suitable separation and purification methods to obtain high-purity β-LG is the premise of research on reducing allergenicity. In this review, the research progress in membrane technology, gel filtration chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, affinity chromatography, precipitation, and aqueous 2-phase system separation for the separation and purification of milk β-LG is reviewed in detail to promote the further development of milk β-LG separation and purification methods and provide a new method for the development of hypoallergenic dairy products in the future. Among these methods, ion exchange chromatography and gel chromatography are widely used, precipitation is generally used as a crude purification step, and HPLC and membrane technology are used for further purification to improve the purity of allergens.

Offshore wind farm (OWF)’s impact on marine ecological environment has attracted widespread attention since its rapid development. The paper uses high-resolution satellite image data to extract the distribution of offshore wind farms (OWFs) in China based on deep learning method. Chlorophyll-a (CHL-a) concentration and sea surface temperature (SST) were used as indicators to analyze the impact of OWFs’ development. We can then draw the following conclusions: 1) From 2016 to 2022, the number of OWFs in China continues to increase, the growth rate reachs 28% in 2022. 2) The construction of OWFs presents a development trend from near sea to far sea and from shallow sea to deep sea. From 2016 to 2022, the new OWFs are mainly concentrated in sea areas with 5-50 meters water depth, accounting for 84.7 % of the total increase in OWFs. 3) The distribution density of OWFs is negatively correlated with CHL-a concentration and SST, the more OWFs, the greater the impact on CHL-a and SST. In one word, our work analyzed the development trend of OWFs in China and evaluated the impact of OWFs’ expansion on marine ecological environment and climate.

The Gaofen-7 (GF-7) satellite was launched on November 3, 2019. It can achieve 1:10000 scale stereo mapping and serve the application needs of basic surveying and mapping, natural resources monitoring and geographic information resource construction. These application rely on high-precision digital surface model (DSM) products as data support. Therefore, it is of great significance to analyze the quality of DSM products produced by Gaofen-7. This paper uses GF-7 optical stereo images from the regions of Zhaodong and Tianjin in China to extract DSMs. And the difference DSM is produced by subtracting the 0.5m resolution aerial reference DEM and the 30m resolution COP30 product in the same area. The quality of DSM products is evaluated by comparing and analyzing the difference DSM. The results show that when the DSM produced by the GF-7 satellite uses the aerial DEM as a reference, the elevation accuracy can reach 0.97 m in the Zhaodong area and 1.54 m in the Tianjin area, and the details of the objects are well depicted; when the COP30 product is used as a reference, the elevation positioning accuracy can reach 1.29 m in the Zhaodong area and 2.42 m in the Tianjin area, which can correctly show the overall situation of the surface objects. Among them, the elevation accuracy in the Tianjin area is relatively poor, mainly because there are many water areas and buildings in this area, and the COP30 product has data missing in this area, which affects the accuracy. In general, the quality of the DSM products generated by the GF-7 satellite is good. Through effective ground control and further processing, the DSM products can fully meet the needs of practical applications such as 1:10000 scale mapping.

This study examines the collaborative approach in China-Africa satellite remote sensing initiatives based on solutions of satellite data acquiring, sharing and application experiences. It specifically addresses the data coverage requirements and current coverage scenarios of China's natural resources land satellites in Africa. By establishing the China-Africa Cooperation Centers on Satellite Remote Sensing Application, adopting a multi-level distributed technology center model, and implementing cross-continental remote sensing cloud services through an internet-based cloud platform, this initiative aims to enhance the direct utilization of satellite data in Africa. Furthermore, strategic satellite observation window designs tailored to seasonal changes have increased the frequency of valid coverage over the entire African continent to at least once a year. Such advancements pave the way for real-time monitoring applications, particularly in crucial areas such as sustainable development projects and disaster response efforts. Therefore, the study also provides some useful case studies that are anchored on the Sustainable Development Goals.
