The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of micro ribonucleic acid (miR)-26a on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats and to explore its potential mechanism. Our findings might help to provide references for clinical prevention and treatment of myocardial I/R.A total of 60 male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into three groups using a random number table, including: Control group (n=20), I/R group (n=20) and I/R + miR-26a siRNA group (n=20). I/R model was established via recanalization after ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD). The model of miR-26a knockdown was established in rats of I/R + miR-26a siRNA group via tail intravenous injection of miR-26a siRNA. Ejection fraction (EF%) and fractional shortening (FS%) of rats in each group were detected via echocardiography. The infarction area of each group was detected via 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) assay. Subsequently, morphological changes in myocardial cells of each group were detected via hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. Myocardial apoptosis level was measured via terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay. At the same time, the expression levels of pro-apoptotic proteins Bcl-2 associated X protein (Bax) and cleaved (C)-caspase3 in myocardial tissues of the three groups were determined using Western blotting. Finally, the effects of miR-26a knockdown on the expressions of glycogen synthase kinase (GSK)-3β/β-catenin signaling pathway-related proteins were detected via Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.The expression of miR-26a in myocardial tissues of I/R group increased significantly when compared with that in Control group (p0.05). Knockdown of miR-26a significantly improved cardiac insufficiency caused by I/R, which also obviously increased both EF% and FS% in rats (p0.05). In addition, knockdown of miR-26a significantly inhibited myocardial infarction caused by I/R injury, and reduced infarction area from (43.08±2.43) to (21.54±1.82) (p0.05). The results of HE staining revealed that in I/R + miR-26a siRNA group, myofilaments were arranged more orderly, the degree of degradation and necrosis was significantly lower, and cellular edema was significantly alleviated when compared with I/R group. Subsequent TUNEL staining demonstrated that rats in I/R + miR-26a siRNA group showed a remarkably lower level of myocardial apoptosis than I/R group (p0.05). Meanwhile, the protein expression levels of Bax and C-caspase3 were remarkably declined in I/R + miR-26a siRNA group (p0.05). Furthermore, the results of Western blotting showed that miR-26a siRNA could significantly reverse the inhibition of GSK-3β/β-catenin signaling pathway induced by I/R injury (p0.05).Knockdown of miR-26a could significantly improve I/R-induced myocardial injury and promote cardiac function in rats. The possible underlying mechanism might be related to targeted regulation of miR-26a on GSK-3β/β-catenin signaling pathway. Therefore, miR-26a was expected to be a new therapeutic target for myocardial I/R injury.

To investigate the expression and clinical significance of miRNA-99a and miRNA-224 in the serum of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).83 patients with NSCLC, who were diagnosed and treated in our hospital from January 2014 to September 2017, were included in the experiment group. 79 patients, who made health check up, were included in the control group. The quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) technique was used to test the expressions of miRNA-99a and miRNA-224 in the serum of the patients in the two groups, and the relationship between the expression levels of miRNA-99a and miRNA-224 and the clinicopathological features of the patients with NSCLC was analyzed; the correlation between the expression of miRNA-99a and the expression of miRNA-224 in NSCLC was also analyzed.The expression level of miRNA-99a in the patients with NSCLC was significantly lower than that in the patients in the normal control group; the differences were statistically significant (p0.001). The expression level of miRNA-224 in the patients with NSCLC was markedly higher than that in the patients in the normal control group; the differences were statistically significant (p0.001). The expression level of miRNA-99a in the patients with NSCLC was remarkably correlated with pathological stage, the presence or absence of lymph node metastasis and tissue differentiation (p0.001). The expression level of miRNA-224 in the patients with NSCLC was significantly correlated with pathological stage, the presence or absence of lymph node metastasis and pathological grade (p0.001). The results of partial correlation analysis showed that the expression levels of miRNA-99a and miRNA-224 were negatively correlated with each other in NSCLC (r=-0.985, p0.001).MiRNA-99a and miRNA-224 may be involved in the development and progression of NSCLC. MiRNA-99a is associated with NSCLC pathological stage, lymph node metastasis and tissue differentiation, while miRNA-224 is associated with NSCLC pathological stage, lymph node metastasis and pathological grade. MiRNA-99a and miRNA-224 can be used as clinical monitoring indicators for NSCLC.

Using a DC-magnetron sputtering system, we fabricated several forms of double-sided coupling thin-film inductors on a PCB (Printed Circuit Board). Due to the effects of winding forms and thickness of the film, the inductance, Q factor and resonance frequency of the inductors are different. Of the three types of inductors covering the same area, the meander inductor has the highest resonance frequency (up to 400 MHz), the circular-spiral inductor has the largest inductance (up to 1 @mH/cm^2) and Q factor (up to 25) at low frequency, and the hexagon-spiral inductor has moderate inductance and Q factor at an intermediate frequency. So the proper choice of winding form will depend on the specific application.

An aluminium borate whisker reinforced aluminium composite with a whisker volume fraction of 25% was fabricated by the squeeze casting method. The tensile and impact fracture behaviours of the composite were studied. Observation via TEM indicated that the higher the casting temperature, the higher the degree of interfacial reaction. Tensile and impact experiments showed that there is an optimum degree of interfacial reaction corresponding to the maximum strength and toughness of the composite. Observation of the fracture surfaces of the composites using SEM suggests that the interfacial reaction plays an important role in the fracture mechanism of the composite.

Multi-attributes classification has become a standard technique in seismic interpretation. In this paper, we apply transductive support vector machine (TSVM), which is one of semi-supervised classification methods, on seismic attributes for reservoir characterization and hydrocarbon detection. In order to apply the TSVM on classification of real seismic attributes, an unlabelled samples selection strategy is proposed to reduce unlabelled samples by prior knowledge to improve efficiency. Our method exploits both precious well information and soft unlabelled samples to obtain a more reliable classifier. Experimental results on a real data show that the TSVM outperforms the traditional SVM.

Red (660±30 nm) and far-red (730±30 nm) LED light sources were combined in different proportions to yield a design with four R:FR ratio treatments (0.5, 2.5, 4.5 and 6.5). Chrysanthemum plants irradiated with natural light served as the control (R:FR=1.02). The chlorophyll a (Chla) content and SPAD value of chrysanthemum leaves were highest for an R:FR ratio of 2.5 and lowest for an R:FR ratio of 6.5. The chlorophyll b (Chlb) and carotenoid content were highest for an R:FR ratio of 0.5 and lowest for R:FR ratios of 6.5 and 2.5, respectively. The superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) activity and soluble protein content of the chrysanthemum leaves were highest for an R:FR ratio of 2.5, whereas the catalase (CAT) activity was highest for an R:FR ratio of 4.5. The SOD, POD, CAT activity and soluble protein content were found to be lowest for an R:FR ratio of 0.5. The malondialdehyde (MDA) content of the chrysanthemum leaves was highest for an R:FR ratio of 0.5 and lowest for an R:FR ratio of 2.5. These results implied that the antioxidant enzyme activity and the anti-senescence ability of the chrysanthemum leaves were highest for an R:FR ratio of 2.5 and lowest for an R:FR ratio of 0.5. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can dramatically increase levels of intracellular calcium (Ca²⁺). The association between Wnt5a/Frizzled-2 (wingless-type mouse mammary tumor virus integration site family member 5a/Fzd2) signaling and Ca²⁺ cellular homeostasis in lower vertebrates has been well documented. However, little is known about Wnt5a/Fzd2 signaling in mammalian nerve cells, or whether Ca²⁺ accumulation after TBI is mediated through this pathway. We hypothesized that an activated Wnt5a/Fzd2 pathway following TBI may play a role in Ca²⁺ overloading. To elucidate the influence of Fzd2 and the Wnt5a signal transduction pathway on an increase in intracellular Ca²⁺, we assessed the expression of Wnt5a/Fzd2 in rat hippocampal cells both in vitro and in vivo. We found that transfection of the rat Fzd2 gene in rat neonatal hippocampal astrocytes significantly increased gene expressions of both Wnt5a and Fzd2 by fourfold when compared to non-transfected cells (P0.01 in both cases). Expressions of the proteins Wnt5a and Fzd2 were significantly increased approximately two- and threefold, respectively, when compared to non-transfected control cells (P0.01 in both cases). Moreover, intracellular Ca²⁺, as manifested by the fluorescent intensity of the intracellular Ca²⁺ indicator Fluo-3/AM, was significantly increased by 1.75-fold (P0.01). The blocking of Fzd2 signaling using Stealth RNAi markedly inhibited the elevated gene and protein expression of Wnt5a in the transfected cells by two- and fourfold, respectively (P0.01), and suppressed intracellular Ca²⁺ by 1.5-fold (P0.01). Furthermore, in vivo, we demonstrated that TBI-induced dramatic upregulation of gene and protein expression of Wnt5a/Fzd2 by two- and fivefold (P0.01) in injured hippocampi, and intracellular Ca²⁺ increased in isolated injured hippocampal cells. Whereas, the in vivo blocking of Fzd2 signaling by hippocampal delivery of Stealth RNAi and Invivofectamine significantly suppressed the increased gene and protein expression of Wnt5a and Fzd2 induced by TBI by 1- to 3.5-fold (P0.01) and also inhibited Ca²⁺ accumulation by 1.5-fold (P0.01). These findings demonstrated that the Wnt5a/Fzd2 signaling pathway contributed to increasing intracellular Ca²⁺ in nerve cells under physiological and pathological conditions. Furthermore, our findings provide evidence that specifically expressed components of this signal pathway, such as Wnt5a and Fzd2, are potential therapeutic targets following brain trauma.

In recent years, some innovative wireless sensing systems have been proposed. However, more exploration and research on wireless sensing systems are required before wireless systems can substitute for the traditional wire-based systems. In this paper, a new type of intelligent wireless sensing network is proposed for the heath monitoring of large-size structures. Hardware design of the new wireless sensing units is first studied. The wireless sensing unit mainly consists of functional modules of: sensing interface, signal conditioning, signal digitization, computational core, wireless communication and battery management. Then, software architecture of the unit is introduced. The sensing network has a two-level cluster-tree architecture with Zigbee communication protocol. Important issues such as power saving and fault tolerance are considered in the designs of the new wireless sensing units and sensing network. Each cluster head in the network is characterized by its computational capabilities that can be used to implement the computational methodologies of structural health monitoring; making the wireless sensing units and sensing network have "intelligent" characteristics. Primary tests on the measurement data collected by the wireless system are performed. The distributed computational capacity of the intelligent sensing network is also demonstrated. It is shown that the new type of intelligent wireless sensing network provides an efficient tool for structural health monitoring of large-size structures.

The interface plays a very important role in the properties of composites. One of the effects of the interface on the properties of the composite is that it may affect the load transfer from the matrix to the reinforcement. As it is well known that the Young's modulus of composites is influenced mainly by the load transfer [1, 2], the interfacial reaction has a great effect on the bonding and strength of the interface [3], which can affect the Young's modulus of the composite. Recently, a low cost aluminium matrix composite reinforced by aluminium borate whisker (AIIsB4 O33W » denoted by ABOw) has been studied by many researchers [4 8]. Although the interfacial reaction, mechanical properties and ageing behaviours of the composite have been investigated extensively, there have been few studies on the effect of the interfacial reaction on the Young's modulus of ABOw/A1 composite. This letter aims to report this effect. The ABOw/AC8A-A1 composite used was fabricated by the squeeze casting method. The volume fraction of the whisker was 25%. The composition of the matrix alloy was Si: 12.0wt%, Mg: 1.0wt%, Cu: 0.8 wt%, NJ: 1.0 wt%, AI: 85.2 wt%. To obtain different degrees of the interfacial reaction, the composites were fabricated at various temperatures: 660°C, 720°C, 760°C, 800°C and 840°C. The specimens for tensile testing were solutionized at 500 °C for 5 h then quenched into water maintained at 80 °C, to prevent the effect of precipitation on the properties of the composite. The microstructure and the interfacial reaction were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The specimens for TEM observation were thinned by the ion milling method. The Young's modulus of the composite was measured by the slope of the tensile stress-strain curves. The dependence of Young's modulus of the composites on the casting temperature is shown in Fig. 1. It can be seen that when the casting temperature is lower than 800°C, the Young's modulus of the composite increases with the casting temperature. When the casting temperature is higher that 800 °C, however, the Young's modulus of the composite decreases with increasing casting temperature. That is to say, there exists an optimal casting temperature for the Yourig's modulus of the ABOw/AC8A composite. The microstructure of the ABOw/AC8A composite was studied using TEM. We report a diode-pumped intracavity second-harmonic generation mode-locked solid-state Tm:YAP laser operating at 1988 nm using a periodically poled congruent LiNbO3 as the nonlinear crystal. The threshold of continuous wave mode locking is 11.6 W. The maximum output power is 1.67 W, while the shortest pulse obtained is 4.7 ps at a repetition rate of 97.09 MHz.

Parenchymal and stromal components of the rat parotid and submandibular glands were examined by conventional and high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM). Freeze-fractured specimens were subjected to HCl and NaOH extraction procedures to better differentiate connective tissue and cellular components. In addition, the internal three-dimensional morphology of the secretory acinar cells and duct cells was revealed by maceration with a dilute osmium tetroxide solution to selectively remove some of the cytoplasmic components. SEM and HRSEM examination of the HCl-treated samples of both glands revealed a fine filamentous network immediately surrounding each acinus. Coarser bundles of collagen that linked neighboring acini were also observed. NaOH-extracted samples selectively removed the cellular components and showed more clearly the three-dimensional structure of the connective-tissue stroma. A dense-collagenous network surrounded each lobule while more internal regions consisted of a honeycomb-like pattern of evacuated spaces previously occupied by secretory acini. These spaces were smoothened in appearance and often interconnected. Apically-located secretory granules and profiles of the rough endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus in perinuclear regions were encountered in the acinar and duct cells of macerated samples by HRSEM. In addition, a phenylephrine-induced experimental condition performed in some rats resulted in a significant increase in secretory granule size and density of the serous cells.

The allotypes of HLA Class III (C2, BF and C4) in 60 patients with schizophrenia were investigated. Significantly higher frequencies of BF*F, BF*SO7 and C4A*4 in patients were found as compared with those of the normal controls. The relative risks (RR) of the three allotypes to schizophrenia were 1.81, 7.79 and 4.18 and the etiologic fraction (EF) were 0.086, 0.060 and 0.042, respectively. There were no significant changes of C2 allotypes.

Summary form only given. The lithium cation doping on the surface of polyacene semiconductor (PAS) molecule has been investigated by using quantum chemistry MNDO and CNDO/2 methods. There are two stable adsorption sites for Li over the central sites of C=C bonds and benzene ring group of PAS. The calculation of EHMO-CO energy band structures indicates: after lithium is adsorpted at the hole site on the surface of PAS, the energy gap of system decreases.

A minimal model of spontaneous CP violation based on two-Higgs-doublet and two-Higgs-singlet fields is constructed. The model has a Peccei-Quinn-type U(1) symmetry which breaks at 10/sup 8/--10/sup 12/ GeV energy scale. Physical CP violation arises from scalar-pseudoscalar mixings. A relatively large electric dipole moment for charged leptons and small chemically bondepsilon'/epsilonchemically bond are predicted.
