2. Graph Attention Network-based Multi-agent Reinforcement Learning for Slicing Resource Management in Dense Cellular Network

Abstract

Network slicing (NS) management devotes to providing various services to meet distinct requirements over the same physical communication infrastructure and allocating resources on demands. Considering a dense cellular network scenario that contains several NS over multiple base stations (BSs), it remains challenging to design a proper real-time inter-slice resource management strategy, so as to cope with frequent BS handover and satisfy the fluctuations of distinct service requirements. In this paper, we propose to formulate this challenge as a multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) problem in which each BS represents an agent. Then, we leverage graph attention network (GAT) to strengthen the temporal and spatial cooperation between agents. Furthermore, we incorporate GAT into deep reinforcement learning (DRL) and correspondingly design an intelligent real-time inter-slice resource management strategy. More specially, we testify the universal effectiveness of GAT for advancing DRL in the multi-agent system, by applying GAT on the top of both the value-based method deep Q-network (DQN) and a combination of policy-based and value-based method advantage actor-critic (A2C). Finally, we verify the superiority of the GAT-based MARL algorithms through extensive simulations.

4. Human Gender Classification: A Review

Abstract

Gender contains a wide range of information regarding to the characteristics difference between male and female. Successful gender recognition is essential and critical for many applications in the commercial domains such as applications of human-computer interaction and computer-aided physiological or psychological analysis. Some have proposed various approaches for automatic gender classification using the features derived from human bodies and/or behaviors. First, this paper introduces the challenge and application for gender classification research. Then, the development and framework of gender classification are described. Besides, we compare these state-of-the-art approaches, including vision-based methods, biological information-based method, and social network information-based method, to provide a comprehensive review in the area of gender classification. In mean time, we highlight the strength and discuss the limitation of each method. 8. Contactless Reconstruction of ECG and Respiration Signals With mmWave Radar Based on RSSRnet

Abstract

In response to the challenge of effectively rebuilding vital signals acquired from radar, we propose RSSRnet that works on the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) spectrum to separate radar-acquired chest mechanical signals and reconstruct electrocardiogram (ECG) signals and respiration (RSP) signals. RSSRnet is constructed based on an encoder–separator–decoder architecture, which combines multiple self-attention blocks to enhance the separated representation of bottleneck features. In addition, we incorporate channel attention (CA) and cross CA (CCA) blocks to refine the feature representation of the encoder and the decoder, respectively. RSSRnet is optimized using an improved loss function defined on both the time-domain waveform and STFT spectrum. The experimental results show that RSSRnet can not only separate chest mechanical signals with mixed respiratory and heartbeat components, but also effectively perform the transformation from mechanical signals to electrical signals. Compared to the ground-truth signals, the median-normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) for reconstructing RSP and ECG signals is 0.043 and 0.049, respectively. The median Pearson correlation coefficients (PCCs) for reconstructed RSP and ECG signals are 0.992 and 0.964, respectively. Furthermore, the median absolute error of the cardiac intervals between the reconstructed ECG signals and the ground-truth values is less than 8 ms.

Abstract

High‐capacity red phosphorus is a promising candidate for anode material of potassium‐ion batteries while the poor electrical conductivity and large volume variation may cause severe material pulverization and performance deterioration during cycling. Incorporation of red phosphorous with porous carbon substrates is a potential strategy to solve these issues, which can spatially confine the phosphorus particles and promote mass/charge transfer processes. Herein, a hierarchical nitrogen‐doped microporous carbon superstructure derived from nanorod‐assembled metal‐organic framework superstructure was presented to confine red phosphorus (P@NCS) for potassium storage. Remarkably, P@NCS as an anode material demonstrated a high reversible specific capacity of 551 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1 after 100 cycles along with a high initial Coulombic efficiency of 76 %. Control experiments and theoretical calculations verified that the excellent potassium storage performance was attributed to the strong confinement effect of the nitrogen‐doped micropores and the unique nanorod‐assembled superstructure. Furthermore, a potassium‐ion full cell was assembled using P@NCS and 3,4,9,10‐perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride as anode and cathode material respectively, demonstrating the great potential of P@NCS for practical potassium‐ion batteries. Abstract

Recently, vehicle platooning has attracted a lot of attention as one of the promising solutions to the explosion of vehicle numbers. By exchanging information among vehicles through communication networks, vehicle platooning can significantly improve traffic safety and efficiency. In this paper, we develop a joint systematic design of platoon communication and control to reduce position errors of consecutive vehicles and to improve platoon safety. Through separate information dissemination of the platoon leader and followers, we improve the success probability of the platoon leader's information dissemination. To extend the communication range of the platoon leader and also the platoon scale, we propose to use relays to forward the platoon leader's messages. Further, an adaptive distributed model predictive control (DMPC) based controller is presented, which can adjust its control parameters according to platoon state and dynamic information sources. Simulation results not only verify the proposed systematic design in terms of position errors, but also show that our scheme performs well in vehicle failure cases where collisions can be avoided and platoon safety improved. Abstract

A novel hierarchical porous nitrogen-doped carbon nanofiber with atomically dispersed Fe-N4sites are prepared by pyrolyzed electrospun metal-organic frameworks /polyacrylonitrile nanofibers. One-dimension structure, abundant atomically dispersed metal sites and hierarchical pore structure of carbon nanofibers facilitates the electron transfer and enlarges the electrode-electrolyte interfaces. The carbon nanofibers exhibit superb electrocatalyst performance for oxygen reduction reaction, comparable to benchmark Pt/C catalysts in alkaline media.

Abstract

A multi-antenna spectrum sharing scheme is proposed based on primary activity. To maximize the cognitive system performance, two spectrum sharing optimization algorithms are designed, respectively for overlay and underlay. Simulation results show that the new spectrum sharing optimization algorithm improve the cognitive system performance with multi-antenna on the premise of protecting primary users.

Abstract

In this paper, a framework to analyze the multi-antenna gain in multiuser cognitive radio system is presented. We consider the outage performance in the multiple-antenna flat Raleigh fading broadcast downlink channel and derive the closed-form expression of the outage probability of primary and secondary users. We show that the number of transmitter and receiver antenna impacts the outage performance of the primary and secondary user. Furthermore, the analytical and simulation results show that the multi-antenna gain improves the system performance.

49. Tailoring Amine-Functionalized Ti-MOFs via a Mixed Ligands Strategy for High-Efficiency CO 2 Capture.

Abstract

Amine-functionalized metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a promising strategy for the high-efficiency capture and separation of CO2. In this work, by tuning the ratio of 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3BTC) to 5-aminoisophthalic acid (5-NH2-H2IPA), we designed and synthesized a series of amine-functionalized highly stable Ti-based MOFs (named MIP-207-NH2-n, in which n represents 15%, 25%, 50%, 60%, and 100%). The structural analysis shows that the original framework of MIP-207 in the MIP-207-NH2-n (n = 15%, 25%, and 50%) MOFs remains intact when the mole ratio of ligand H3BTC to 5-NH2-H2IPA is less than 1 to 1 in the resulting MOFs. By the introduction of amino groups, MIP-207-NH2-25% demonstrates outstanding CO2 capture performance up to 3.96 and 2.91 mmol g−1, 20.7% and 43.3% higher than those of unmodified MIP-207 at 0 and 25 °C, respectively. Furthermore, the breakthrough experiment indicates that the dynamic CO2 adsorption capacity and CO2/N2 separation factors of MIP-207-NH2-25% are increased by about 25% and 15%, respectively. This work provides an additional strategy to construct amine-functionalized MOFs with the maintenance of the original MOF structure and high performance of CO2 capture and separation. Abstract

Cell division cycle 5-like (CDC5L) protein is implicated in the development of various cancers. However, its role in the progression of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains uncertain. Our findings revealed frequent upregulation of CDC5L in LUAD, which correlated with poorer overall survival rates and advanced clinical stages. In vitro experiments demonstrated that CDC5L overexpression stimulated the proliferation, migration, and invasion of LUAD cells, whereas CDC5L knockdown exerted suppressive effects on these cellular processes. Furthermore, silencing CDC5L significantly inhibited tumor growth and metastasis in a xenograft mouse model. Mechanistically, CDC5L activates the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway by transcriptionally regulating WNT7B, thereby promoting LUAD progression. Besides, METTL14-mediated m 6 A modification contributed to CDC5L upregulation in an IGF2BP2-dependent manner. Collectively, our study uncovers a novel molecular mechanism by which the m 6 A-induced CDC5L functions as an oncogene in LUAD by activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway through transcriptional regulation of WNT7B, suggesting that CDC5L may serve as a promising prognostic marker and therapeutic target for LUAD., Competing Interests: None., (AJCR Copyright © 2024.)
