1. RGB-Sonar Tracking Benchmark and Spatial Cross-Attention Transformer Tracker

Abstract

Vision camera and sonar are naturally complementary in the underwater environment. Combining the information from two modalities will promote better observation of underwater targets. However, this problem has not received sufficient attention in previous research. Therefore, this paper introduces a new challenging RGB-Sonar (RGB-S) tracking task and investigates how to achieve efficient tracking of an underwater target through the interaction of RGB and sonar modalities. Specifically, we first propose an RGBS50 benchmark dataset containing 50 sequences and more than 87000 high-quality annotated bounding boxes. Experimental results show that the RGBS50 benchmark poses a challenge to currently popular SOT trackers. Second, we propose an RGB-S tracker called SCANet, which includes a spatial cross-attention module (SCAM) consisting of a novel spatial cross-attention layer and two independent global integration modules. The spatial cross-attention is used to overcome the problem of spatial misalignment of between RGB and sonar images. Third, we propose a SOT data-based RGB-S simulation training method (SRST) to overcome the lack of RGB-S training datasets. It converts RGB images into sonar-like saliency images to construct pseudo-data pairs, enabling the model to learn the semantic structure of RGB-S-like data. Comprehensive experiments show that the proposed spatial cross-attention effectively achieves the interaction between RGB and sonar modalities and SCANet achieves state-of-the-art performance on the proposed benchmark. 2. Sign-Guided Bipartite Graph Hashing for Hamming Space Search

Abstract

Bipartite graph hashing (BGH) is extensively used for Top-K search in Hamming space at low storage and inference costs. Recent research adopts graph convolutional hashing for BGH and has achieved the state-of-the-art performance. However, the contributions of its various influencing factors to hashing performance have not been explored in-depth, including the same/different sign count between two binary embeddings during Hamming space search (sign property), the contribution of sub-embeddings at each layer (model property), the contribution of different node types in the bipartite graph (node property), and the combination of augmentation methods. In this work, we build a lightweight graph convolutional hashing model named LightGCH by mainly removing the augmentation methods of the state-of-the-art model BGCH. By analyzing the contributions of each layer and node type to performance, as well as analyzing the Hamming similarity statistics at each layer, we find that the actual neighbors in the bipartite graph tend to have low Hamming similarity at the shallow layer, and all nodes tend to have high Hamming similarity at the deep layers in LightGCH. To tackle these problems, we propose a novel sign-guided framework SGBGH to make improvement, which uses sign-guided negative sampling to improve the Hamming similarity of neighbors, and uses sign-aware contrastive learning to help nodes learn more uniform representations. Experimental results show that SGBGH outperforms BGCH and LightGCH significantly in embedding quality.

3. Lightweight Full-Convolutional Siamese Tracker

Abstract

Although single object trackers have achieved advanced performance, their large-scale models hinder their application on limited resources platforms. Moreover, existing lightweight trackers only achieve a balance between 2-3 points in terms of parameters, performance, Flops and FPS. To achieve the optimal balance among these points, this paper proposes a lightweight full-convolutional Siamese tracker called LightFC. LightFC employs a novel efficient cross-correlation module (ECM) and a novel efficient rep-center head (ERH) to improve the feature representation of the convolutional tracking pipeline. The ECM uses an attention-like module design, which conducts spatial and channel linear fusion of fused features and enhances the nonlinearity of the fused features. Additionally, it refers to successful factors of current lightweight trackers and introduces skip-connections and reuse of search area features. The ERH reparameterizes the feature dimensional stage in the standard center-head and introduces channel attention to optimize the bottleneck of key feature flows. Comprehensive experiments show that LightFC achieves the optimal balance between performance, parameters, Flops and FPS. The precision score of LightFC outperforms MixFormerV2-S on LaSOT and TNL2K by 3.7 % and 6.5 %, respectively, while using 5x fewer parameters and 4.6x fewer Flops. Besides, LightFC runs 2x faster than MixFormerV2-S on CPUs. In addition, a higher-performance version named LightFC-vit is proposed by replacing a more powerful backbone network. 11. Energy Metabolism Enhance Perylenequinone Biosynthesis in Shiraia sp. Slf14 through Promoting Mitochondrial ROS Accumulation.

Abstract

Perylenequinones (PQs) are important natural compounds that have been extensively utilized in recent years as agents for antimicrobial, anticancer, and antiviral photodynamic therapies. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms regulating PQ biosynthesis by comparing Shiraia sp. Slf14 with its low PQ titer mutant, Slf14(w). The results indicated that the strain Slf14 exhibited a higher PQ yield, a more vigorous energy metabolism, and a more pronounced oxidation state compared to Slf14(w). Transcriptome analysis consistently revealed that the differences in gene expression between Slf14 and Slf14(w) are primarily associated with genes involved in redox processes and energy metabolism. Additionally, reactive oxygen species (ROS) were shown to play a crucial role in promoting PQ synthesis, as evidenced by the application of ROS-related inhibitors and promoters. Further results demonstrated that mitochondria are significant sources of ROS, which effectively regulate PQ biosynthesis in Shiraia sp. Slf14. In summary, this research revealed a noteworthy finding: the higher energy metabolism of the strain Slf14 is associated with increased intracellular ROS accumulation, which in turn triggers the activation and expression of gene clusters responsible for PQ synthesis. Abstract

Background: Increasing evidence suggests that alterations in gut microbiota are associated with a variety of skin diseases. However, whether this association reflects a causal relationship remains unknown. We aimed to reveal the causal relationship between gut microbiota and skin diseases, including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, and lichen planus. Methods: We obtained full genetic association summary data for gut microbiota, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, and lichen planus from public databases and used three methods, mainly inverse variance weighting, to analyze the causal relationships between gut microbiota and these skin diseases using bidirectional Mendelian randomization, as well as sensitivity and stability analysis of the results using multiple methods. Results: The results showed that there were five associated genera in the psoriasis group, seven associated genera were obtained in the atopic dermatitis group, a total of ten associated genera in the acne group, and four associated genera in the lichen planus group. The results corrected for false discovery rate showed that Eubacteriumfissicatenagroup (P = 2.20E-04, OR = 1.24, 95%CI:1.11–1.40) and psoriasis still showed a causal relationship. In contrast, in the reverse Mendelian randomization results, there was no evidence of an association between these skin diseases and gut microbiota. Conclusion: We demonstrated a causal relationship between gut microbiota and immune skin diseases and provide a new therapeutic perspective for the study of immune diseases: targeted modulation of dysregulation of specific bacterial taxa to prevent and treat psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, and lichen planus. Abstract

Visual tracking is a key research area in computer vision, as tracking technology is increasingly being applied in daily life, it has high-research significance. Visual tracking technology usually faces various challenging interference factors, among which, a similar background is one of the factors that has a greater impact on the tracking process. Kernelized Correlation Filter (KCF) tracking algorithm can track targets quickly by using circulant matrix, and has good tracking effect, so it is widely used in the tracking field. However, when the target is interfered by similar objects, the filter template in KCF cannot effectively distinguish between the target and the interfering object. This is because the filter only uses the texture gradient feature as the description object of the target, which will make the KCF algorithm extremely sensitive to the change of the target; therefore, the filter has difficultly making a judgment in the unstable scene, cannot accurately describe the target state, and finally leads to tracking failure. Therefore, this paper fuses Color Names (CN) on the basis of the original Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) feature of KCF, which can obtain a more comprehensive feature representation, and realize the application of combined features to improve the anti-interference ability of KCF in complex scenes. In addition, this paper also uses the peak response of correlation filtering as the judgment condition to determine whether the current tracking result is stable. When the filter is in an unstable tracking state, the proposed algorithm will select the value with high confidence from its multiple responses as the candidate target of the Siamese network, and the deep learning network is used as the incremental learning method of the filter. The Channel Attention is introduced into the network layer, so that the network can adaptively reason and adjust the extracted universal features, and the enhanced feature information is used as the final discriminant basis. Finally, according to the response, the target with the smallest error compared with the target template is selected from multiple candidate targets as the final tracking result. The experimental results show that the average accuracy and average success rate of the proposed algorithm are significantly improved compared with the classical tracking algorithm, especially in dealing with similar target interference. Abstract

The recognition of impassable terrain in three dimension environment plays an important role in the motion planning of mobile robot. However, the most common used sensor like range finders, stereo vision sensors, which can provide the clues of the surrounding environment suffer from their inaccurate nature. Thus, this paper proposed a rapid impassable terrain recognition algorithm based on hypotheses testing theory using low-cost range finders with different diffusion angle. By applying a slope recognition algorithm using two different range finders mounted with different height, slope of object is capable to be recognized. By treating the historical recognition result as a sampling set to the real slope, the hypothesis testing theory is then introduced, with which a judge threshold value can be induced to decrease the influence of inaccurate recognition. Then the stable recognition for impassable terrain would be then acquired. The experiments results indicate that this algorithm can provide a reliable recognition for the impassable terrain based on lower cost range finders with different diffusion angle while only little computation is required.

Abstract

The recognition of impassable terrain plays a vital role in the motionplanning of a mobile robot, which generally relies on expensive sensors such as stereovision cameras. This paper proposes a rapid impassable terrain recognition algorithmbased on hypotheses testing theory using low-cost range finders with different diffusionangles. In this algorithm, a slope estimation model using two range finders mountedon different heights is first established, where the influence of the diffusion angle ofthe range sensor is considered. To deal with inaccurate measuring from low costrange finders, the hypothesis testing theory is then applied to judge whether there isan impassible terrain approaching, where the historical slope estimation results aretreated as a sample set of the same slope, and the judgement of impassible terrainis then made based on the sampling set rather than the concurrent slope estimation.So the robot is only required to count the number of slope estimation that supportthe determination of a terrain as being impassible, and the judgement is confirmedonly when that number is larger than a precisely designed threshold value. Thenthe stable recognition for impassable terrain would be acquired while the risk ofwrong judgement is limited. The experiments’ results indicate that this algorithmcan provide a reliable recognition of impassable terrain using lower cost range finderswith different diffusion angles with minimal computation.

With the rapid economic development, the inequality between water resource and other economic factors become increasingly prominent. And the calculation and analysis for the Chang-Ji Urban agglomeration are conducted. The calculation result shows that the "water - economic" Gini coefficient after the optimal allocation of water resources shows correspondingly high match than before extremely unmatched relationship.

Abstract

Shear zone-hosted gold deposits in China can be divided into four types: ductile, brittle-ductile, ductile-brittle and brittle, of which the ductile and brittle types are the basic ones. All these types of gold deposits have their own geochemical characteristics. The Hetai gold deposit in Guangdong Province, for example, is a mylonite-type gold deposit in a ductile shear zone. With increasing mylonitization, obvious changes took place in trace elements in minerals and rocks, enriching gold and mineralizing elements. The S and Pb isotope data indicated that the ore-forming materials were derived from the strata. Hydrogen and oxygen isotopic and fluid inclusion studies also implied that the ore-forming fluid was much closer to meteoric water from the early to the late ore-forming stage. The Linglong gold deposit, Shangdong Province, is a quartz-type gold deposit in a brittle shear zone. Changes in rocks, minerals and trace elements occurred in the process of formation of gold quartz veins, and the analytical results of S, Pb, H and O isotopes showed that ore deposition is connected not only with the Jiaodong Group, but also with anatexic granites.

Abstract

We present a novel color transfer method for portraits by exploring their high-level semantic information. First, a database is set up which consists of a collection of portrait images download from the Internet, and each of them is manually segmented using image matting as a preprocessing step. Second, we search the database using Face++ to find the images with similar poses to a given source portrait image, and choose one satisfactory image from the results as the target. Third, we extract portrait foregrounds from both source and target images. Then, the system extracts the semantic information, such as faces, eyes, eyebrows, lips, teeth, etc., from the extracted foreground of the source using image matting algorithms. After that, we perform color transfer between corresponding parts with the same semantic information. We get the final transferred result by seamlessly compositing different parts together using alpha blending. Experimental results show that our semantics-driven approach can generate better color transfer results for portraits than previous methods and provide users a new means to retouch their portraits.
