Transition metal tellurides have been widely studied for their diverse crystal structures and exotic physical properties such as large magnetoresistance, charge density waves, superconductivity, ferromagnetic and topological properties. NiTe2 has recently been found to be a Dirac semimetal, allowing it to achieve exotic properties by pressure and doping. A series of Ni1−xCoxTe2−δ single crystals are synthesized by the standard solid‐state reaction method. The energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction tests confirm Co is successfully doped into the crystal structure. The electrical transport measurements show typical metallic behaviors for all the samples. Magnetization measurements reveal that, in the doping range of x = 0.12–0.62, the samples exhibit a coexistence of antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases above the characteristic temperature Tt. By using the combined Curie–Weiss and spin‐wave model, the antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic transition is found to occur as the temperature drops below Tt. The magnetic transition is attributed to the Te vacancies, which can be explained using the bound magnetic polaritons model. A magnetic phase diagram for Ni1−xCoxTe2−δ system is constructed. Eurotium cristatum had important application value in the development of hypoglycemic and lipid-lowering functional foods and natural medicines. The analysis of the overall metabolite information and the hypoglycemic and lipid-lowering active ingredients produced by Eurotium cristatum could provide theoretical basis and data support for the development and application of the bacterial strain. By taking the strain Ys-Ec-01 of Eurotium cristatum as the experimental material, the non-targeted metabolomics based on the ultra performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole electrostatic field orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QE-MS) technology was used to analyze the fermentation metabolic profile Ys-Ec-01 by combining with the principal component analysis (PCA) and the orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA), in order to find the hypoglycemic and lipid-lowering active products. The results showed that the metabolite profile of Ys-Ec-01 changed significantly after the fermentation. From the metabolite profile, a total of 365 fermentation products were identified, and then 205 differential fermentation products and 151 main fermentation products were screened, thus to identify 13 hypoglycemic and lipid-lowering active ingredients, which were chrysoeriol, kaempferol, isorhamnetin, epicatechin, capsaicin, nicotinic acid, trigonelline, 1-deoxynojirimycin, allantoin, protocatechuic acid, linoleic acid, choline and L-carnitine. These active ingredients provided more targets and basic information for the research, development and application of hypoglycemic and lipid-lowering function of Ys-Ec-01. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Background HBO1 (histone acetyltransferase binding to ORC1) is a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) which could exert oncogenic function in breast cancer. However, the biological role and underlying mechanism of HBO1 in breast cancer remains largely unknown. In the current study, we aimed to investigate the role of HBO1 in breast cancer and uncover the underlying molecular mechanism. Methods Immunohistochemistry was applied to detect HBO1 protein expression in breast cancer specimens (n = 112). The expression of protein level was scored by integral optical density (IOD) for further statistical analyses using SPSS. Real-time PCR was used to simultaneously measure mRNA levels of HBO1. The HBO1 protein expression in breast cancer cells was confirmed by western blot. Results HBO1 was highly expressed in breast cancer tissues and significantly correlated with estrogen receptor α (ERα) (p < 0.001) and progestational hormone (PR) (p = 0.002). HBO1 protein level also correlated positively with histology grade in ERα positive tumors (p = 0.016) rather than ERα negative tumors. 17β-estradiol (E2) could upregulate HBO1 gene expression which was significantly inhibited by ICI 182,780 or ERα RNAi. E2-increased HBO1 protein expression was significantly suppressed by treatment with inhibitor of MEK1/2 (U0126) in T47 D and MCF-7 cells. Conclusions HBO1 was an important downstream molecule of ERα, and ERK1/2 signaling pathway may involved in the expression of HBO1 increased by E2.

Abstract: l‐Phenylalanine is an important amino acid that is widely used in the production of food flavors and pharmaceuticals. Generally, l‐phenylalanine production by engineered Escherichia coli requires a high rate of oxygen supply. However, the coexpression of Vitreoscilla hemoglobin gene (vgb), driven bya tac promoter, with the genes encoding 3‐deoxy‐ d‐arabinoheptulosonate‐7‐phosphate synthetase (aroF) and feedback‐resistant chorismate mutase/prephenate dehydratase (pheAfbr), led to increased productivity and decreased demand for aeration by E. coli CICC10245. Shake‐flask studies showed that vgb‐expressing strains displayed higher rates of oxygen uptake, and l‐phenylalanine production under standard aeration conditions was increased. In the aerobic fermentation process, cell growth, l‐phenylalanine production, and glucose consumption by the recombinant E. coli strain PAPV, which harbored aroF, pheAfbr, and tac‐vgb genes, were increased compared to that in the strain harboring only aroF and pheAfbr (E. coli strain PAP), especially under oxygen‐limited conditions. The vgb‐expressing strain PAPV produced 21.9% more biomass and 16.6% more l‐phenylalanine, while consuming only approximately 5% more glucose after 48 H of fermentation. This study demonstrates a method to enhance the l‐phenylalanine production by E. coli using less intensive and thus more economical aeration conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
