3. Effects of Apple Polyphenols and Taurine on Growth Performance, Tissue Morphology, and Lipid and Glucose Metabolism in Rice Field Eel (Monopterus albus) Fed High Oxidized Fish Oil.

The aim of this trial was to investigate the effects of apple polyphenols (AP) and taurine (TA) on the growth performance, tissue morphology, and lipid and glucose metabolism in rice field eel fed diets with high oxidized fish oil (OFO). A 10-week feeding experiment was conducted using juveniles (initial body weight 16.66 ± 0.02 g) fed five different diets. Three diets were formulated with various levels of OFO at 9.5, 600, and 800 meq·kg−1 and named as Control, POV600, and POV800 diet, respectively. The other two diets were POV600 and POV800 supplemented with 0.5% AP and 0.2% TA, respectively. Compared to the Control group, only the eels fed POV800 exhibited an increase in weight gain and specific growth rate along with a reduction in feed conversion ratio. AP and TA did not affect growth performance; juveniles fed AP, however, showed a decrease in liver weight. Both POV600 and POV800 decreased nuclei number and increased vacuoles size in the liver. POV800 damaged the intestinal structure integrity and reduced goblet cells number. AP repaired the liver damage on nuclei number and vacuoles size in fish fed with POV600 diet, while TA mitigated intestinal histopathological damage on intact structure and goblet cells number. The mRNA expression level of liver ampkα in fish fed AP was upregulated, while dietary TA upregulated the mRNA expression levels of liver ampkα and accα. In the muscle, POV600 downregulated mRNA expression levels of accα, cpt1, and lipin, whereas POV800 upregulated mRNA expression levels of accα, pparα, and lipin. Dietary AP and TA could counteract the effects of POV600 and POV800 diet on muscle lipid metabolism. Both POV600 and POV800 diets upregulated mRNA expression levels of liver pck1 and gsk3α. AP and TA both downregulated mRNA expression level of liver pck1, while only TA downregulated the expression of liver gsk3α. AP increased the mRNA expression level of gsk3α in muscle. In summary, inclusion of AP and TA did not affect growth performance but showed a potential to alleviate liver or intestinal damages induced by a high OFO diet. 4. Effects of chromosomal translocation characteristics on fertilization and blastocyst development — a retrospective cohort study.

Objective: To determine the effect of different translocation characteristics on fertilization rate and blastocyst development in chromosomal translocation patients. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University From January 2017 to December 2022.All couples were diagnosed as reciprocal translocation or Robertsonian translocation by karyotype of peripheral blood lymphocytes test. After adjusting for confounding factors, the effect of chromosomal rearrangement characteristics, such as carrier sex, translocation type, chromosome length and break sites, on fertilization rate and embryo development were analysed separately using multiple linear regression. Results: In cases of Robertsonian translocation (RobT), the carrier sex plays an independent role in fertilization rate, and the male carriers was lower than that of female carriers (76.16% vs.86.26%, P = 0.009). In reciprocal translocation (RecT), the carrier sex, chromosome types and break sites had no influence on fertilization rate, blastocyst formation rate (P > 0.05). However, patients with human longer chromosomal (chromosomes 1–5) translocation have a lower available blastocyst formation rate (Group AB vs. Group CD: 41.49%vs.46.01%, P = 0.027). For male carriers, the translocation types was an independent factor affecting the fertilization rate, and the RobT was the negative one (B = − 0.075, P = 0 0.009). In female carriers, we did not observe this difference (P = 0.227). Conclusions: In patients with chromosomal translocation, the fertilization rate may be influenced by carrier sex and translocation type, chromosomes 1–5 translocation may adversely affect the formation of available blastocysts. 5. Coffee and tea intake with long-term risk of irritable bowel syndrome: a large-scale prospective cohort study.

Background To investigate prospective association of coffee and tea intake with incident irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in a long-term cohort. Methods Participants free of IBS, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease and any cancer at baseline from UK Biobank were included. Coffee and tea intake was measured separately via baseline touchscreen questionnaire, with four categories for each intake (0, 0.5–1, 2–3 and ≥4 cups/day). Primary outcome was incident IBS. Cox proportional hazard model was used to estimate associated risk. Results Among 425 387 participants, 83 955(19.7%) and 186 887(43.9%) consumed ≥4 cups/day of coffee and tea at baseline, respectively. During median 12.4-year follow-up, incident IBS was identified in 7736 participants. Compared with no coffee intake, consumption of 0.5–1, 2–3 and ≥4 cups/day was associated with lower IBS risk [hazard ratio (HR)=0.93, 95% CI: 0.87–0.99; 0.91, 0.85–0.97; 0.81, 0.76–0.88; P trend < 0.001]. Specifically, decreased risk was evident in individuals who consumed instant (HR = 0.83, 0.78–0.88) or ground coffee (HR = 0.82, 0.76–0.88) compared with no coffee drink. Regarding tea intake, protective association was only found in individuals who consumed 0.5–1 cup/day (HR = 0.87, 0.80–0.95), whereas no significant association was detected in those who consumed 2–3 (HR = 0.94, 0.88–1.01) or ≥4 cups/day (HR = 0.95, 0.89–1.02) compared with no-tea intake (P trend = 0.848). Conclusions Higher intake of coffee, particularly instant and ground coffee, is associated with lower risk of incident IBS, with significant dose–response relationship. Moderate-tea intake (0.5–1 cup/day) is associated with lower IBS risk. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Most functional processes of biomolecules are rare events. Key to a rare event is the rare fluctuation that enables the energy activation process that precedes and powers crossing of the activation barrier. However, the physical nature of this rare fluctuation and how it enables energy activation and subsequently barrier crossing are unknown. We developed a novel metric, the reaction capacity pC, that rigorously defines the beginning and parameterizes the progress of energy activation. This enabled us to identify the rare fluctuation as a special phase-space condition that is necessary and sufficient for initiating systematic energy flow from the non-reaction coordinates into the reaction coordinates. The energy activation of a prototype biomolecular isomerization reaction is dominated by kinetic energy transferring into and accumulating in the reaction coordinates, administered by inertial forces alone. This mechanism for energy activation is fundamentally different from the mechanism suggested by Kramers theory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rehabilitation is necessary for the recovery of patients with paralysis caused by stroke and muscle atrophy. Wearable electronics can provide feedback on physical training and facilitate healthcare. However, most existing wearable electronics are difficult to maintain a conformal skin‐device interface. Additionally, the use of non‐degradable electronic materials is associated with environmental risks. Herein, ionogels with biodegradation and shape‐memory properties as eco‐friendly and geometry‐adaptive wearable electronics for rehabilitation are proposed. The biodegradation is enabled by incorporating polycaprolactone segments into the ionogel matrix. Moreover, the ionogel‐based wearable electronics can be conformal to certain joints by shape programming, and provide stable and reproducible real‐time signals reflecting joint movements during long‐term rehabilitation training assisted by a robotic glove, facilitating carers to assess rehabilitation efficacy and choose an appropriate scheme. This study demonstrates the potential of biodegradable shape‐memory ionogels as green and adaptive wearable electronics for robot‐assisted rehabilitation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

8. Radar Quantitative Precipitation Estimation Based on the Gated Recurrent Unit Neural Network and Echo-Top Data.

The Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) neural network has great potential in estimating and predicting a variable. In addition to radar reflectivity (Z), radar echo-top height (ET) is also a good indicator of rainfall rate (R). In this study, we propose a new method, GRU_Z-ET, by introducing Z and ET as two independent variables into the GRU neural network to conduct the quantitative single-polarization radar precipitation estimation. The performance of GRU_Z-ET is compared with that of the other three methods in three heavy rainfall cases in China during 2018, namely, the traditional Z-R relationship (Z=300R1.4), the optimal Z-R relationship (Z=79R1.68) and the GRU neural network with only Z as the independent input variable (GRU_Z). The results indicate that the GRU_Z-ET performs the best, while the traditional Z-R relationship performs the worst. The performances of the rest two methods are similar. To further evaluate the performance of the GRU_Z-ET, 200 rainfall events with 21882 total samples during May–July of 2018 are used for statistical analysis. Results demonstrate that the spatial correlation coefficients, threat scores and probability of detection between the observed and estimated precipitation are the largest for the GRU_Z-ET and the smallest for the traditional Z-R relationship, and the root mean square error is just the opposite. In addition, these statistics of GRU_Z are similar to those of optimal Z-R relationship. Thus, it can be concluded that the performance of the GRU_Z-ET is the best in the four methods for the quantitative precipitation estimation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, SnO 2 and Sn nanoparticles adhered to the surface of rGO (SnO 2 /Sn/rGO) applied as potassium ion batteries (KIBs) anode materials were synthesized via thermal reduction. Preparing SnO 2 material into a nanostructure for modification can reduce ion diffusion distance to improve the number of active sites appropriate for K+ adsorption, and efficiently reduce the volume change which is conducive to enhancing the potassium storage capacity. Besides, layered rGO inhibits SnO 2 /Sn aggregation, while increased surface area also reduces diffusion channel and electrolyte contact. However, larger specific surface area result in a lower initial Coulomb efficiency (ICE). The approach adopted here is to force the solid electrolyte interface (SEI) to fully emerge during the first charge-discharge cycle by using electrolytes containing 1 M KFSI in EC and DEC (1:1, v/v). According to density functional theory (DFT) analysis, the doping of rGO and SnO2 effectively enhanced the adsorption of potassium atoms and reduced the diffusion barrier of K+. Therefore, SnO 2 /Sn/rGO nanocomposites have a high specific capacity (325.8 mAhg−1 after 350 cycles at 0.1 Ag-1), an excellent ICE (66.57%), and a long cycle life (203.6 mAhg−1 after 1000 cycles at 0.5 Ag-1). The cultural landscape in traditional settlements is an important historical and cultural resource created by human beings in the process of historical evolution, and is an important resource for the development of traditional settlement tourism. This paper selected 21 representative traditional settlements for research using online comments from tourists as data and content analytical methods including high-frequency vocabulary, semantic networks and emotional attitudes to explore the public perspective on the connotations of cultural landscape features in traditional settlements. There are four major findings, showing first that the cultural landscape of traditional settlements contains three core elements. Second, the semantic network relationships of the core elements show a significant central–edge tendency; and third, the emotional perception of cultural landscapes in traditional settlements is generally positive, and there is no significant difference emotionally between each core element. Last, the public's perception of the cultural connotations of the landscape is seriously insufficient. Based on the research results, planning suggestions and countermeasures for the conservation and utilization of cultural landscapes in traditional settlements are proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, a MXene@AgPd/polydopamine (PDA) nanosheet with excellent photothermal conversion efficiency was successfully synthesized by a simple redox-oxidative polymerization method. Interestingly, AgPd bimetallic nanocrystals sandwiched between a MXene nanosheet and PDA layer have cage-like nanostructure, which is favorable for high catalytic efficiency and antibacterial performance. Importantly, the MXene@AgPd/PDA nanosheet exhibits good catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol (1.2 min−1 mg−1) and the catalytic dynamics can be improved by about 1.2 times under NIR (near-infrared light, 808 nm, and 2.5 W cm−2) irradiation. As the PDA shell is well protected, the MXene@AgPd/PDA nanosheet retained more than 90% catalytic activity after 6 cycles. In addition, due to the presence of the Ag component, the MXene@AgPd/PDA nanosheet exhibited good antibacterial activity against both Gram-negative (E. coli) and Gram-positive (S. aureus) bacteria. 12. Alleviating effects of essential oil from Artemisia vulgaris on enteritis in zebrafish via modulating oxidative stress and inflammatory response.

Artemisia vulgaris (A. vulgaris) is a traditional Chinese medicine widely distributed in China and contains many bioactive compounds with pharmacological effects. However, the anti-inflammatory effects and mechanism of essential oil from A. vulgaris on enteritis in fish are still unclear. In this study, in order to elucidate the underlying mechanism of essential oil from A. vulgaris on zebrafish enteritis, zebrafish were used for establishing animal models to observe the histopathological changes of intestines, determine the activities of immune-related enzymes and oxidative stress indicators, and the mRNA expression of genes in MyD88/TRAF6/NF-KB signaling pathways. The results showed that different doses of A. vulgaris essential oil could effectively alleviate zebrafish enteritis in a dose- and time-dependent manner by improving the intestinal histopathological damage, decreasing the intestinal oxidative stress, repairing the intestinal immune ability, changing the expression levels of IL-1β , IL-10 and genes in MyD88/TRAF6/NF-κB pathway. In addition, co-treatment with oxazolone and MyD88 inhibitor could alleviate the morphological damage, the induction of oxidative stress, and the levels of immune-related enzymes and the mRNA expression of genes in MyD88/TRAF6/NF-κB signaling pathway. Moreover, essential oil from A. vulgaris had more significantly therapeutic effects on enteritis of male zebrafish than that of female zebrafish. This result will clarify the therapeutic effect and anti-inflammatory mechanism of essential oil from A. vulgaris on zebrafish enteritis, and provide a theoretical basis for further research on the rationality of A. vulgaris to replace feed antibiotics. Purpose: This study was designed to analyze the liver tissue changes among the CHB patients who received treatment for at least 6 months and follow-up for at least 1 year, together with the correlation between the different disease condition and serum markers.Methods: One-hundred and eighty-five CHB patients underwent antiviral therapy for at least 6 months were enrolled. In the 12-month follow-up, ultrasonography-guided biopsy was performed. The patients were grouped based on the serum markers and pathological changes in liver tissues. Then we determined the serum markers, virological tests and Tim-3 expression among these groups.Results: Antiviral therapy significantly reduced liver inflammation indicators and serum Tim-3 level. However, the fibrosis process of liver tissue was not changed, and there are still disputes on the serum marker and hepatic lesion outcomes. Under normal liver function or negative hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) of CHB patients, there might be consensus between Tim-3 change and liver pathological outcome. According to the liver tissue inflammation and fibrosis conditions, Tim-3 was positively correlated with liver function indices. Besides, it was also related to fibrosis stage and inflammation grade.Conclusion: There were inconsistent changes between serum markers and liver tissue conditions after anti-viral therapy. Tim-3 expression was more suitable to indicate the changes of liver inflammatory and fibrosis response to some extent than ALT and AST. It may serve as a certain indicator to predict the CHB prognosis, which could be used as one of the monitoring indicators in liver pathological changes of chronic HBV infection, especially in monitoring liver tissue inflammation. Background and Objectives: Thrombocytopenia is common among sepsis patients. Platelet transfusions are frequently administered to increase platelet counts, but their clinical impacts remain unclear in sepsis‐induced thrombocytopenia. The goal of this study was to explore the association between platelet transfusion and mortality in patients with sepsis‐induced thrombocytopenia. Materials and Methods: The study was based on the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC) III database. Septic patients with severe thrombocytopenia (a platelet count ≤ 50/nl) were included in the study and were divided into two groups: a platelet transfusion group (PT group) and a no platelet transfusion group (NPT group). The primary outcome was in‐hospital mortality, and the secondary outcomes were the length of intensive care unit (ICU) stay (LOS‐ICU) and 90‐day mortality. Propensity score matching multivariable logistic regression was used to reduce the imbalance. Results: A total of 1733 patients were included: 296 patients were included in the PT group and 1437 patients were included in the NPT group. After propensity score matching, 296 paired patients constituted each group. Crude hospital mortality was significantly higher in the PT group than in the NPT group (145 [48.99%] vs. 567 [39.46%], p = 0.002). In the extended multivariable logistic models for hospital mortality, the odds ratio (OR) of receiving a platelet transfusion was consistently significant in all six models (OR range, 1.340–1.525, p < 0.05 for all). In the following subgroups, platelet transfusion was associated with increased in‐hospital mortality: age > 60 years; sex: female; sequential organ failure assessment score ≤8; simplified acute physiology score ≤ 47; platelet count >29/nl and the complication of congestive heart failure. However, there were no significant differences in the 90‐day mortality rate (170 [57.43%] vs. 741 [51.57%], p = 0.066) or the LOS‐ICU (5.84 [2.68–11.78] vs. 4.94 [2.18–12.72], p = 0.442) between the two groups. All these results remained stable after adjustment for confounders and in the comparisons after propensity score matching. Conclusions: The propensity score‐matched analysis showed that platelet transfusion was associated with increased in‐hospital mortality in septic patients with severe thrombocytopenia (a platelet count ≤ 50/nl). As physical mobility declines, older adults become increasingly dependent on their living environment. The relationship between physical activities and community environments for older adults has been studied to help promote physical and mental health and increase social connections among older adults, thereby improving their quality of life and health status. This study analyzed the daily outdoor physical activities of older adults in Nanyu New Village, China, using behavior mapping and questionnaire research for data collection, and conducting a comprehensive analysis of the spatial, temporal, and environmental elements of the physical activities. This research showed that the physical activity choices of older adults in rural resettlement neighborhoods vary significantly by time, gender, and space. In decreasing order, surrounding support, site security, space convenience, beautiful landscape, and diverse facilities influence the outdoor physical activities of older adults. This study provides new insights into the ongoing debate on age-friendly communities and provides a useful reference for the design of age-friendly retrofitting of outdoor environments in rural resettlement communities. Inter-species somatic cell nuclear transfer (iSCNT) is significant in the study of biological problems such as embryonic genome activation and the mitochondrial function of embryos. Here, we used iSCNT as a model to determine whether abnormal embryo genome activation was caused by mitochondrial dysfunction. First, we found the ovine-bovine iSCNT embryos were developmentally blocked at the 8-cell stage. The reactive oxygen species level, mitochondrial membrane potential, and ATP level in ovine-bovine cloned embryos were significantly different from both bovine-bovine and IVF 8-cell stage embryos. RNA sequencing and q-PCR analysis revealed that mitochondrial transport, mitochondrial translational initiation, mitochondrial large ribosomal subunit, and mitochondrial outer membrane genes were abnormally expressed in the ovine-bovine embryos, and the mitochondrial outer membrane and mitochondrial ribosome large subunit genes, mitochondrial fusion gene 1, and ATPase Na+/K+ transporting subunit beta 3 gene were expressed at lower levels in the ovine-bovine cloned embryos. Furthermore, we found that overexpression and knockdown of Mfn1 significantly affected mitochondrial fusion and subsequent biological functions such as production of ATP, mitochondrial membrane potential, reactive oxygen species and gene expressions in cloned embryos. INTRODUCTION: To assess comparative performance of 14 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) prediction models in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients using on-treatment values at different timepoints. METHODS: Based on a nationwide prospective cohort of 986 treatment-naive CHB patients undergoing entecavir therapy with every 26-week follow-up, 14 HCC risk scores were calculated using on-treatment values at week 26, 52, 78, and 104, respectively. Model performance predicting 3-year HCC was assessed using time-dependent area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and calibration index. Model cutoffs were validated through common diagnostic accuracy measures. RESULTS: During median 4.7-year follow-up, 56 (7.5%) developed HCC. Discrimination using on-treatment values within first 2 years was generally acceptable for most models (AUCs ranging from 0.68 to 0.81), except for REACH-B, NGM-HCC, and PAGE-B, although AUCs slightly decreased from week 26 to 104. Of these, REAL-B, CAMD, GAG-HCC, AASL-HCC, LSM-HCC, mPAGE-B, and mREACH-BII showed highest discrimination with AUCs ranging from 0.76 to 0.81, 0.72 to 0.76, 0.70 to 0.76, and 0.71 to 0.74 when reassessment at week 26, 52, 78, and 104, respectively. With reassessment within first 2 years, both REAL-B and CAMD calibrated well (Brier score ranging from 0.037 to 0.052). Of 9 models reporting cutoffs, REAL-B, AASL-HCC, and mPAGE-B using on-treatment values could identify 30%–40% of patients as low risk with minimal HCC incidence in the low-risk group (0.40% [REAL-B]–1.56% [mPAGE-B]). DISCUSSION: In this undergoing antiviral treatment CHB cohort, most HCC prediction models performed well even using on-treatment values during first 2 years, particularly REAL-B, AASL-HCC, CAMD, and mPAGE-B model. In this study, we aimed to synthesize magnetically well-dispersed nanosensors for detecting dissolved oxygen (DO) in water, and explore their biological applications. Firstly, we synthesized two kinds of magnetic nanoparticle with average sizes of approximately 82 nm by one-step emulsion polymerization: polystyrene magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@Os1-PS) and polymethylmethacrylate magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@Os1-PMMA). Both types of nanoparticle present good dispersibility and fluorescence stability. The nanoparticles could be used as oxygen sensors that exhibited a high DO-sensitivity response in the range 0-39.30 mg/L, with a strong linear relationship. The nanoparticles have good magnetic properties, and so they could be recycled by magnet for further use. Recovered Fe3O4@Os1-PS still presented high stability after continued use in oxygen sensing for one month. Furthermore, Fe3O4@Os1-PS was employed for detecting the bacterial oxygen consumption of Escherichia coli (E-coli) to monitor the metabolism of bacteria. The results show that Fe3O4@Os1-PS provide high biocompatibility and non-toxicity. Background: The relationship between non-alcoholic fatty liver degree as well as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) remains poorly understood. We aimed to investigate the prospective association of non-alcoholic fatty liver degree as well as NAFLD with incident IBS in a large-scale population-based cohort.Methods: Participants free of IBS, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, alcoholic liver disease, and any cancer at baseline from the UK Biobank were included. Non-alcoholic fatty liver degree was measured by a well-validated fatty liver index (FLI), with FLI ≥ 60 as an indicator of NAFLD. Primary outcome was incident IBS. Cox proportional hazard model was used to investigate the associated risk of incident IBS.Results: Among 396,838 participants (mean FLI was 48.29 ± 30.07), 153,203(38.6%) were with NAFLD diagnosis at baseline. During a median of 12.4-year follow-up, 7129 cases of incident IBS were identified. Compared with non-NAFLD, NAFLD patients showed a 13% higher risk of developing IBS (HR = 1.13, 95%CI: 1.05-1.17) after multivariable adjustment. Compared with the lowest, the highest FLI quartile was associated with a significantly increased risk of IBS (HRQ4 VS Q1 = 1.21, 1.13-1.30, Ptrend < 0.001). Specifically, the positive association between non-alcoholic fatty liver degree and IBS was also observed by per SD change of FLI (adjusted HR = 1.08, 1.05-1.10). Further sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis indicated similar results, with the positive association particularly observed in females, but not in males.Conclusions: High degree of non-alcoholic fatty liver as well as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is associated with increased risk of incident IBS. Purpose: This study aimed to explore whether infertility duration has an impact on the sexual function and mental health of men from infertile couples. Methods: We conducted a case–control study of 558 men from infertile couples, and the participants were divided into four groups based on their infertility duration: group I: ≤ 2 years; group II: 2–5 years; group III: 5–8 years; and group IV: > 8 years. Sexual function and mental disorders were measured using the International Index of Erectile Function-15 (IIEF-15), Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT), Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7), and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) separately. Results: As the years of infertility duration increase, the total IIEF-15 score and four domains (sexual desire, orgasmic function, erectile function, and intercourse satisfaction) significantly decrease (p < 0.05). The PEDT score gradually increases significantly (p < 0.05). Increased infertility duration is an independent risk factor for erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation (p < 0.05). However, increased infertility duration is not a risk factor for depression and anxiety (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Our study is the first time to use the infertility duration as an independent variable and group this variable to analyze its impact on the sexual function and mental health of men from infertile couples comprehensively and systematically. The increased infertility duration is an independent risk factor for the occurrence of sexual dysfunction but not for mental disorders. In the process of infertility treatment, sexual health and mental health cannot be ignored, especially for patients with prolonged infertility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study aimed to explore whether the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination of both partners in infertile couples, different types of COVID-19 vaccines, and the interval between complete vaccination and oocyte retrieval or embryo transfer (ET) affect the quality of embryos and pregnancy rates in in vitro fertilization (IVF). Methods: This was a prospective cohort study, comprising 735 infertile couples conducted between December 6, 2021, and March 31, 2022, in a single university hospital-based IVF center. The patients were divided into different groups according to the vaccination status of both partners in infertile couples, type of vaccine, and interval between complete vaccination and IVF treatment. The embryo quality and pregnancy rates were compared among different groups. Results: The results showed that embryo quality and pregnancy rates had no significant differences among different groups. The multivariate regression model showed that the vaccination status of both infertile couples, types of vaccines, and intervals had no significant effects on the clinical pregnancy rate. Conclusions: The vaccination status of both partners in infertile couples, different types of vaccines, and time intervals have no effect on embryo quality and pregnancy rates in IVF. This is the first study to compare the vaccination status of both partners in infertile couples and the impact of different vaccine types on pregnancy rates and embryo quality in detail. Our findings provide evidence of vaccine safety for infertile couples wishing to undergo IVF treatment. 23. Characterization of lncRNA and mRNA profiles in ciliary body in experimental myopia.

Currently, researchers have mainly focused on the role of the tissues of the posterior segment of the eyes in the development of myopia. However, the ciliary body, an anterior ocular tissue that contracts to initiate the process of accommodation, may also play an important role in the progression of myopia due to the increased demand for near work. In the present study, we established a lens-induced myopia (LIM) animal model in guinea pigs and investigated the molecular changes in the ciliary body associated with the development of myopia based on RNA sequencing. As a result, 871 differentially expressed (DE) mRNAs and 19 DE lncRNAs were identified in the ciliary body between the LIM group and the normal control group. In addition, the lncRNA-mRNA co-expression analysis was performed to explore the target genes of lncRNAs, which were mainly enriched in the Rap1 signaling pathway, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, and complement and coagulation cascades pathways based on the functional enrichment analysis. Among the target genes of lncRNAs, three hub genes, including Ctnnb1 , Pik3r1, and Itgb1 , were found to be involved in the Rap1 signaling pathway. Interestingly, two crucial genes, Grk1 and Pde6a , which are mainly expressed in retinal photoreceptors, were enriched in visual perception in the ciliary body in functional analysis and were verified to be expressed in the ciliary body. These findings indicate the molecular pathogenetic role of the ciliary body in myopia and provide new insights into the underlying mechanism of myopia development. INTRODUCTION: To investigate the prospective association of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with long-term risk of overall, site-specific cancer and cancer-specific mortality in general population. METHODS: Participants free of inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, and any cancer at baseline from the UK Biobank were included, with patients with IBS as the exposure group and non-IBS patients as the reference group. The primary outcome was the incidence of overall cancer and cancer-specific mortality. Secondary outcomes included site-specific cancers and types of digestive cancers. The Cox proportional hazard model was used to investigate the associated risk of incident malignancies and related mortality. RESULTS: Among 449,595 participants, 22,338 (5.0%) were diagnosed with IBS. During a median of 12.2-year follow-up, 2,937 cases of incident cancer were identified in patients with IBS (11.47 per 1,000 person-years), compared with 60,556 cases in reference individuals (12.51 per 1,000 person-years). Of these cases, 512 and 12,282 cancer-specific deaths occurred in IBS and non-IBS groups. Compared with non-IBS, the adjusted hazard ratio for overall cancer and cancer-specific mortality was 0.97 (95% confidence interval: 0.93–1.00, P = 0.062) and 0.83 (0.76–0.91, P < 0.001) among patients with IBS. Specifically, decreased risk of digestive (0.79 [0.71–0.89]), particularly colon (0.75 [0.62–0.90]) and rectal (0.68 [0.49–0.93]), cancers was observed in patients with IBS. Further sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis by age and sex indicated similar results. DISCUSSION: Compared with the general population, IBS does not increase the overall risk of cancer. The collision between the Indian and Eurasian plates promotes the southeastward extrusion of the Indochina Peninsula while the internal dynamics of its crustal deformation remain enigmatic. Here, we make use of seismic data from 38 stations and employ the ambient noise tomography to construct a 3‐D crustal shear‐wave velocity (Vs) model beneath the Indochina Peninsula. A low‐Vs anomaly is revealed in the mid‐lower crust of the Shan‐Thai Block and probably corresponds to the southern extension of the crustal flow from SE Tibet. Although the Khorat Plateau behaves as a rigid block, the observed low‐Vs anomalies in the lower crust and also below the Moho indicate that the crust may have been partially modified by mantle‐derived melts. The strike‐slip shearing motions of the Red River Fault may have dominantly developed crustal deformation at its western flank where a low‐Vs anomaly is observed at the upper‐middle crust. 26. External validation of the BEST-J score and a new risk prediction model for ESD delayed bleeding in patients with early gastric cancer.

Background: Delayed bleeding is an important adverse event after gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). We aimed to externally validate the Bleeding after ESD Trend from Japan (BEST-J) score and subsequently develop a risk prediction model for bleeding in Chinese patients with early gastric cancer (EGC) after ESD.Methods: The clinical data of patients who underwent ESD for EGC in Beijing Friendship Hospital from June 2013 to December 2019 were collected retrospectively. The BEST-J score was evaluated according to the clinical data. Through univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses of the clinical data, the factors affecting delayed bleeding were identified, and a new risk prediction model for bleeding was established. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to evaluate the predictive value of the two prediction models.Results: A total of 444 patients with EGC undergoing ESD were included, of whom 27 patients had delayed bleeding (6.1%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a history of smoking (P = 0.029), tumor size > 20 mm (P = 0.022), intraoperative use of hemoclips (P = 0.025), resection of multiple tumors (P = 0.027), and prolongation of activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) (P = 0.020) were independent influencing factors for delayed bleeding. ROC curve analysis showed that the areas under the curves (AUCs) were different between the BEST-J score and the newly built prediction model (0.624 vs. 0.749, P = 0.012).Conclusions: The BEST-J score has moderately good discrimination for Chinese patients with EGC. Results: A total of 444 patients with EGC undergoing ESD were included, of whom 27 patients had delayed bleeding (6.1%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a history of smoking (P = 0.029), tumor size > 20 mm (P = 0.022), intraoperative use of hemoclips (P = 0.025), resection of multiple tumors (P = 0.027), and prolongation of activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) (P = 0.020) were independent influencing factors for delayed bleeding. ROC curve analysis showed that the areas under the curves (AUCs) were different between the BEST-J score and the newly built prediction model (0.624 vs. 0.749, P = 0.012). Conclusions: The BEST-J score has moderately good discrimination for Chinese patients with EGC. However, for patients with EGC without severe comorbidities, the new risk prediction model may predict delayed bleeding better than the BEST-J score. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The susceptibility of Asian tiger mosquitoes to DENV-2 in different seasons was observed in simulated field environments as a reference to design dengue fever control strategies in Guangzhou. The life table experiments of mosquitoes in four seasons were carried out in the field. The susceptibility of Ae. albopictus to dengue virus was observed in both environments in Guangzhou in summer and winter. Ae. albopictus was infected with dengue virus by oral feeding. On day 7 and 14 after infection, the viral load in the head, ovary, and midgut of the mosquito was detected using real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR. Immune-associated gene expression in infected mosquitoes was performed using quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase PCR. The hatching rate and pupation rate of Ae. albopictus larvae in different seasons differed significantly. The winter hatching rate of larvae was lower than that in summer, and the incubation time was longer than in summer. In the winter field environment, Ae. albopictus still underwent basic growth and development processes. Mosquitoes in the simulated field environment were more susceptible to DENV-2 than those in the simulated laboratory environment. In the midgut, viral RNA levels on day 7 in summer were higher than those on day 7 in winter (F = 14.459, P = 0.01); ovarian viral RNA levels on day 7 in summer were higher than those on day 7 in winter (F = 8.656, P < 0.001), but there was no significant difference in the viral load at other time points (P > 0.05). Dicer-2 mRNA expression on day 7 in winter was 4.071 times than that on day 7 in summer: the viral load and Dicer-2 expression correlated moderately. Ae. albopictus could still develop and transmit dengue virus in winter in Guangzhou. Mosquitoes under simulated field conditions were more susceptible to DENV-2 than those under simulated laboratory conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The application of unstable nutraceuticals in food formulation will be encouraged by designing delivery vehicles through the assembly of biopolymers at a variety of scales, from nanoscopic to macroscopic. Due to their high nutritional value and natural occurrence, egg white proteins (EWPs) have garnered interests recently for use as building blocks. In this review, the physicochemical properties of EWPs and the main techniques to promote their assembly were discussed at first. Following that, a thorough summary of current research was provided on the biopolymer- and emulsion-type carriers, which were created by assembling EWPs with or without the presence of exogenous proteins, polysaccharides, polyphenols, or functional groups. Furthermore, these carriers' stabilizing effects on curcumin, polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, catechins, anthocyanins, carotenoids and resveratrol were categorized and emphasized. Lastly, we put forth the concerns and further perspectives of the EWPs-based delivery systems. A deeper comprehension of the relationship between structure and function clarifies the rational designation of EWPs-based carriers with desired properties. Fine-grained visual classification (FGVC) is a difficult task due to the challenges of discriminative feature learning. Most existing methods directly use the final output of the network which always contains the global feature with high-level semantic information. However, the differences between fine-grained images are reflected in subtle local regions which often appear in the front of the network. When the texture of the background and object are similar or the proportion of the background is too large, the prediction will be greatly affected. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes multi-granularity feature fusion module (MGFF) and two-stage classification based on Vision-Transformer (ViT). The former comprehensively represents images by fusing features of different granularities, thus avoiding the limitations of single-scale features. The latter leverages the ViT model to separate the object from the background at a very small cost, thereby improving the accuracy of the prediction. We conduct comprehensive experiments and achieves the best performance in two fine-grained tasks on CUB-200-2011 and NA-Birds. • A multi-granularity feature fusion module is proposed to solve the limitations of single-scale features. • A two-stage classification based on Vision-Transformer is proposed to reduce background interference on predictions. By leveraging the ViT model, the object can be separated from the background and the details can be enlarged. • Extensive experiments prove the superiority of our model. • An adaptive parametric Doppler correction scheme is mechanistically built for wayside acoustic correction. • The principle of the proposed method aims to mathematically build wayside array acoustic physical model with multiple perception operators. • Short-time reconstruction with formulaic compensation mathematically recover the real-time signal. • STR-based PDC simultaneously recover amplitude, frequency distribution and phase in high fidelity. • Results show validity and potential in propagation and distortion correction for the real-time diagnosis of TADS. The trackside acoustic detection system (TADS) plays a vital role in vehicle bearings condition monitoring. However, the inevitable Doppler distortion embedded in collected data will bring considerable difficulties to defect inspection and diagnosis in the system. The distortion elimination approaches mainly achieve spectrum recovery based on time-domain interpolation resampling (TIR) in a data-driven way. These will be further limited by the requirement to signal to noise ratio (SNR) or calculation speed. Considering the principle of wayside acoustic physical model and the benefits of array acoustic in practice, this study proposes an adaptive parametric Doppler correction (PDC) scheme based on short-time reconstruction (STR), including perception modeling, inverse perception optimization and Doppler correction. Firstly, mathematical modeling with multiple perception operators, including acoustic amplitude modulation operator, frequency modulation operator and array time delay operator, a wayside acoustic physical model based on array sensing is established. Secondly, through the corresponding inverse multiple perception operators, a transition signal with frequency-domain energy concentrated is obtained for the optimal moving parameters searching. Thirdly, within short-time sequence segments of the sound source, the real-time position recovery is realized via the proposed STR with formulaic propagation delay compensation. Theoretically, it can be seen that the proposed PDC scheme can simultaneously recover the amplitude, frequency distribution and phase of the Doppler signal, which can be applicable to all wayside acoustic diagnosis scenarios. With the correction analysis of simulation and experimental array defect signals, it can be confirmed that the proposed STR-based PDC scheme is effective for Doppler signal recovery in high fidelity, and has great potential to the real-time diagnosis of TADS. Exploration of the application prospects of cattail fibers (CFs) in natural composites, and other fields is important for the sustainable development of new, green, light-weight, functional biomass materials. In this study, the physical and chemical properties, micro/nano structure, and mechanical characteristics of CFs were investigated. The CFs have a low density (618.0 kg m−3). The results of transmission electron microscopy and tensile testing data indicated that the cattail trunk fiber (CTF) bundle is composed of parenchyma cells and solid stone cells, demonstrating high specific modulus (10.1 MPa∙m3·kg−1) and high elongation at break (3.9%). In turn, the cattail branch fiber (CBF) bundle is composed of parenchyma cells with specific "half-honeycomb" shape. The inner diaphragms divide these cells into the open cavities. This structural feature endows the CTF bundles with stable structure, good oil absorption and storage capacities. The chemical component and the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analyses show that the CFs have higher lignin content (20.6%) and wax content (11.5%), which are conducive to the improvement of corrosion resistance, thermal stability and lipophilic–hydrophobic property of CF. Finally, the thermogravimetric analysis indicates that its final degradation temperature is 404.5 °C, which is beneficial to the increase in processability of CFs-reinforced composites. • The cattail fiber (CF) has lower density and multi-cavity structure. • Higher wax content endows CF with lipophilic-hydrophobic potential. • The cattail branch fiber (CBF) has "half-honeycomb" shape and inner diaphragms. • The CBF structural feature gives CF stable structure and good oil storage capacities. • The cattail trunk fiber bundles exhibit excellent mechanical properties. The efficiency of animal artificial breeding in vitro is still low. Oxidative damage is an important obstacle for in vitro artificial breeding of animals. Melatonin can reduce the degree of oxidative damage to both gametes and embryos caused by the external environment. However, there is still some controversy concerning the effect of melatonin on frozen semen, especially in the processes of freezing semen, IVM, IVF and IVC. Here, the effects of melatonin on the whole processes of sperm cryopreservation, oocyte maturation, and embryonic development were studied. The results demonstrated that melatonin at 10−3 M concentration significantly improved progressive sperm viability, plasma membrane integrity, mitochondrial membrane integrity, and acrosome integrity; however, there were also individual differences between bulls, depending on the age of different individuals. The 10−3 M melatonin treatment reduced the reactive oxygen species (ROS) level by nearly 50% in sperm during IVF. Meanwhile, during IVM, the addition of 10−7 M melatonin significantly increased the maturation rate of oocytes and reduced the ROS levels by 58.8%. In addition, 10−7 M melatonin improved the total cell numbers of the IVF blastocysts. Notably, treatment of IVF embryos with melatonin significantly reduced the levels of ROS and influenced the expression levels of key regulatory genes associated with embryo genome activation. This study is of significance for understanding the function of melatonin in animal artificial breeding. • Melatonin was supplied in the whole process of frozen semen, in vitro fertilization and embryo culture. • Individual bull has different sensitivity to melatonin. • Melatonin treatment reduced the level of ROS of 8-cell stage embryos and influenced EGA related genes expression. A SnO 2 –NbC–C ternary composite was constructed using hydrothermal and ball milling methods. For this special design, the SnO 2 –NbC nanoparticles were uniformly coated with ultra-thin carbon nanosheets. It should be noted that the NbC nanoparticles can accommodate the volume variation of SnO 2 particles and prevent Sn agglomeration, resulting in good electrical contact between particles and low charge transfer resistance. After 100 cycles of 0.2 Ag-1, the SnO 2 –NbC–C nanocomposite exhibited a high capacity of 956.0 mAhg-1, and a rate capacity of 955.2 mAhg-1, and after 500 cycles of 5.0 Ag-1, it achieved a capacity of 704.1 mAhg-1. The clinical application of photothermal therapy (PTT) is limited by the accuracy of thermal damage and the risk of tumor metastasis and relapse induced by hyperthermia‐related inflammation. Intracellular bottom‐up synthesis (iBuS) of CuS nanoparticles from small‐molecule precursors inside tumor cells triggered by tumor specific stimuli is a promising strategy to enhance the precision of PTT treatment and reduce the risk of nondegradable metal nanoparticles. Herein, monolocking nanoparticles (MLNPs) with Cu‐meloxicam complexes encapsulated by human serum albumin (HSA) are reported, which efficiently form CuS nanodots via the elevated concentration of endogenous H2S inside tumor cells and meanwhile release meloxicam for anti‐inflammatory effects. The intracellular bottom‐up fabrication of CuS nanodots is directly visualized by TEM. An enhanced PTT effect is observed with 4T1 cells caused by additional meloxicam‐induced inactivation of the COX‐2 enzyme. After systemic administration, MLNPs completely ablate tumors under laser exposure, simultaneously inhibiting the inflammation induced by photothermal damage, and can be cleared via the kidney into urine. 37. Development of MR-based preoperative nomograms predicting DNA copy number subtype in lower grade gliomas with prognostic implication.

Objectives: We aimed to determine the value of MR-based preoperative nomograms in predicting DNA copy number (CN) subtype in lower grade glioma (LGG) patients. Methods: The overall survival (OS) data were analyzed. MRI data of 170 subjects were retrospectively analyzed. The correlation was explored by univariate and multivariate regression analysis. Results: CN2 subtype was associated with shortest median OS (CN2 subtype vs. others: 46.8 vs. 221.7 months, p < 0.05). The time-dependent receiver operating characteristic for the CN2 subtype was 0.80 (95% CI: 0.74–0.85) for survival at 1 year, 0.80 (95% CI: 0.75–0.85) for survival at 2 years, and 0.77 (95% CI: 0.73–0.83) for survival at 3 years. On multivariate analysis, hemorrhage (OR: 0.118; p < 0.001; 95% CI: 0.037–0.376), poorly defined margin (OR: 4.592; p < 0.001; 95% CI: 1.965–10.730), extranodular growth (OR: 0.247; p = 0.006; 95% CI: 0.091–0.671), and volume ≥ 60 cm3 (OR: 4.734.256; p < 0.001; 95% CI: 2.051–10.924) were associated with CN1 subtype (AUC: 0.781). Proportion CE tumor (OR: 5.905; p = 0.007; 95% CI: 1.622–21.493), extranodular growth (OR: 9.047; p = 0.001; 95% CI: 2.349–34.846), width ≥ median (OR: 0.231; p = 0.049; 95% CI: 0.054–0.998), and depth ≥ median (OR: 0.192; p = 0.023; 95% CI: 0.046–0.799) were associated with CN2 subtype (AUC: 0.854). Necrosis/cystic (OR: 6.128; p = 0.007; 95% CI: 1.635–22.968), hemorrhage (OR: 5.752; p = 0.002; 95% CI: 1.953–16.942), poorly defined margin (OR: 0.164; p < 0.001; 95% CI: 0.063–0.427), and volume ≥ median (OR: 4.422; p < 0.001; 95% CI: 1.925–10.160) were associated with CN3 subtype (AUC: 0.808). All three nomograms showed good discrimination and calibration. Decision curve analysis supported that all nomograms were clinically useful. The average accuracy of the tenfold cross-validation was 0.680 (CN1), 0.794 (CN2), and 0.894 (CN3), respectively. Conclusions: The shortest OS was observed in patients with CN2 subtype. This preliminary radiogenomics analysis revealed that the MR-based preoperative nomograms provide individualized prediction of DNA copy number subtype in LGG patients. Objectives: In order to understand the relationships between neocortical lamination and cell cycle, various cells, such as neural stem cell, migrating postmitotic neuron, Cajal‐Retzius (CR) cell, and mature pyramidal cell in various cell phases were investigated in mouse cortices. Methods: With mouse neocortex and hippocampus, the immunofluorescent labeling, BrdU assay, and DiI tracing technique were implemented in the study. Results: (1) During mouse development, the neocortex expressed different proteins, such as FOXP2, CDP, and Nestin, which could be used as the markers for cortical lamination. (2) The neural stem cells were mainly located in the subventricular zone, with the expressions of Nestin, Cyclin A2, Cyclin E1, and CDT1, suggesting that they were in the repeated cell cycle. Furthermore, the migrating neurons in the neocortex were Cyclin D1‐ (G1 phase‐specific marker) positive, suggesting that they were in the G1 phase. However, Pyramidal cells that developed from postmitotic migrating neurons and settled in the cortical plate were Cyclin D1‐ negative, suggesting that they were in the G0 phase. (3) Reelin positive CR cells appeared in the molecular layer of the neocortex in early embryonic day (E10), which could express Cyclin A2, Cyclin E1, and CDT1 as pyramidal cells, but not Cyclin D1, suggesting that they may have exited the cell cycle and entered the G0 phase. Conclusion: The neural migration, neural proliferation, and cell cycle alterations play an important role during cortical lamination. During the cortical development and lamination, the neural stem cells and migrating postmitotic neurons are in different cell cycle phases, but pyramidal cells and CR cells have exited the cell cycle. β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) modified silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), denoted as β-CD/AgNPs, were prepared by a simple one-pot method. Due to the inherent chirality of β-CD, the developed β-CD/AgNPs exhibited higher affinity toward L -tyrosine (L -Tyr) than D -tyrosine (D -Tyr), leading to serious aggregation of AgNPs in the presence of L -Tyr. Consequently, the L -Tyr induced aggregation of AgNPs can result in signal amplification in the differential pulse voltammograms (DPVs) of L -Tyr, which can be applied for the electrochemical chiral discrimination of the Tyr enantiomers. Other chiral amino acids including tryptophan and phenylalanine can also be successfully discriminated with the β-CD/AgNPs, suggesting high universality of the developed chiral sensor. • Non-targeted screening based on SHS-GC-MS was optimized for ABS plastic toys. • Risk assessment was evaluated with potential toxicity and positive rate. • Chemometrics-based discrimination of recycled plastic toys was firstly achieved. • OPLS-DA methods can amplify difference between virgin and recycled groups. Owing to the growing emphasis on child safety, it is greatly urgent to identify and assess the unknown compounds and discriminate the recycled materials for plastic toys. In this study, gas chromatography mass spectrometry coupled with static headspace has been optimized by response surface methodology for non-targeted screening of unknown volatiles in acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic toys. Optimum conditions for static headspace were 120 °C for extraction temperature and 48 min for extraction time. A total of 83 volatiles in 11 categories were qualitatively identified by matching the NIST database library, retention index and standard materials. Considering high positive rate and potential toxicity, high-risk volatiles in ABS plastic toys were listed and traced for safety pre-warning. Moreover, the differential volatiles between virgin and recycled ABS plastics were screened out by orthogonal partial least-squares discrimination analysis. Principal component analysis, hierarchical cluster analysis and linear discrimination analysis were employed to successfully discriminate recycled ABS plastic toys based on the differential volatiles. The proposed strategy represents an effective and promising analytical method for non-targeted screening and risk assessment of unknown volatiles and discrimination of recycled materials combining with various chemometric techniques for children's plastic products to safeguard children's health. Rapid and selective removal of micropollutants from water is important for the reuse of water resources. Despite hollow frameworks with specific functionalized porous walls for the selective adsorption based on a series of interactions, tailoring a stable shape of nanometer‐ and micrometer‐sized architectures for the removal of specific pollutants remains a challenge. Here, exactly controlled sheets, tubes, and spherical frameworks were presented from the crosslinking of supramolecular colloids in polar solvents. The frameworks strongly depended on the architecture of original supramolecular colloids. As the entropy of colloids increased, the initial laminar framework rolled up into hollow tubules, and then further curled into hollow spheres. These shape‐persistent frameworks showed unprecedented selectivity as well as specific recognition for the shape of pollutants, thus contributing to efficient pollutant separation. Background: Patients coinfected with HBV and hepatitis D virus (HDV) have a greater risk of HCC and cirrhosis. The current study was undertaken to assess HDV genotype distribution and determine clinical characteristics of hepatitis delta virus (HDV) among HBsAg positive individuals in Shanghai.Method: This retrospective study involved 225 serum samples from HBsAg positive hospitalized patients from October 2010 to April 2013. HDV-specific RT-nested PCR was used to amplify HDV RNA. HDV genotypes were characterized by Next-generation sequencing (NGS), followed by phylogenetic analyses. HDV/HBV co-infected patients and HBV mono-infected patients were compared clinically and virologically.Results: Out of the 225 HBsAg-positive serum samples with elevated transaminases, HDV-RNA was identified in 11 (4.9%) patients. The HBV loads in the HDV positive group were significantly lower than the HDV negative HBV-infected patients. The aminotransferase enzymes were significantly higher in HDV/HBV co-infected compared to HDV negative patients (P < 0.05). Phylogenetic analyses indicated that HDV-2 genotype being the predominant genotype, other HDV genotypes were not observed. HDV/HBV patients were significantly associated with a rather unfavourable clinical outcome.Conclusion: In summary, the prevalence of HDV infection in patients with elevated transaminases is not low and the predominance of HDV genotype 2 infection in Shanghai. This finding helps us to better understand the correlation of HDV/HBV co-infection. Zinc finger protein 804A (ZNF804A) has been identified by genome-wide association studies as a robust risk gene in schizophrenia, but how ZNF804A contributes to schizophrenia and its upstream regulation remains unknown. Previous studies have indicated that microRNAs (miRs) are key factors that regulate the expression levels of their target genes. The present study revealed significantly increased expression of miR-148b-3p in the peripheral blood of patients with first-onset schizophrenia compared with healthy controls, and bioinformatics analysis predicted that the ZNF804A gene is a target of miR-148b-3p. Therefore, the present study investigated the possible upstream regulation of ZNF804A by miR-148b-3p in the human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cell line, and assessed the implications for schizophrenia. The results revealed significantly reversed expression levels of miR-148b-3p (P=0.0051) and ZNF804A (P=0.0218) in the peripheral blood of patients with first-onset schizophrenia compared with healthy individuals. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that miR-148b-3p directly targeted ZNF804A via binding to conserved target sites in the 3′-untranslated region of ZNF804A mRNA, where it inhibited the endogenous expression of ZNF804A at both the mRNA (P=0.048) and protein levels (P=0.013) in SH-SY5Y cells. Furthermore, miR-148b-3p was revealed to regulate the expression levels of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) and serine protease 16 (PRSS16) by targeting ZNF804A in SH-SY5Y cells. Collectively, the present results indicated that there was a direct upstream regulation of the schizophrenia risk gene ZNF804A by miR-148b-3p, which contributed to the regulation of the downstream genes COMT and PRSS16. Thus, the miR-148b-3p/ZNF804A/COMT/PRSS16 pathway may play an important role in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia, and may serve as a potential target in drug discovery and gene therapy for this disorder. 47. The Diurnal Variations of GPS PWV near Poyang Lake in China during Midsummer.

With the 1 h-averaged data of atmospheric precipitable water vapor (PWV) for 2015–2018 retrieved from 18 ground-based Global Positioning System (GPS) observation stations near Poyang Lake (PL), China, the diurnal variations of the PWV during midsummer (July-August) are studied by the harmonic method. Results show that significant diurnal variations of PWV are found at the 18 GPS stations. The harmonics with 24 h cycle (diurnal cycle) over PL (i.e., Duchang and Poyang) and Nanchang city only have about 50% (or even smaller than 50%) of variance contribution with the amplitude of about 0.2 mm, while above 70% (or even 80%) of variance contribution occurs elsewhere around PL, with the amplitude of about 0.9 mm. The harmonics with diurnal cycles in most stations peak from afternoon to evening (i.e., 1200-2000 LST), but one exception is Duchang site, where the diurnal cycle peaks in the morning (i.e., 1000 LST). Moreover, the harmonics with 12 h cycle (semidiurnal cycle) have the relatively uniform amplitude of about 0.2 mm, but their variance contributions show uneven distribution, with the contributions of about or above 50% in PL and Nanchang city (the semidiurnal cycles peak about 0000 LST or 1200 LST) and below 30% (or even 10%) in other areas. The preliminary diagnosis analysis shows that the diurnal variation of the low-level (below 850 hPa) air temperature (increasing after the sunrise, decreasing after the sunset, and peaking around 1400-1800 LST) may be responsible for the diurnal cycle. Moreover, in PL (Duchang and Poyang) and Nanchang city, the effects (heating or cooling) of lake and urban, the diurnal variation of the 10 m wind over PL, and the acceleration of PL on overlying air also contributed to the diurnal variation of PWV. Processive endoglucanase EG1 and its core domain, EG1(CD), were used to pretreat the commercial dissolving pulp to improve cellulose reactivity. The Fock reactivity of the pulp which was treated with EG1 and EG1 (CD) at 50 U/g enzyme loading increased from 74.3% of the control to 90.6% and 88.4%, respectively. Refining also improved the Fock reactivity of the pulp, but not as effective as EG1 or EG1(CD) treatment. Refining prior to EG1 or EG1(CD) treatment could slightly further improve the Fock reactivity, to 91.6% and 90.0%, respectively. After enzymatic treatment and (or) refining, the water retention value, differential scanning calorimetry and alkaline solubility analysis indicated that enzyme treatment, especially by EG1, significantly increased the accessibility of fibers to reaction reagents. Combined with the characteristics of soluble reducing sugar produced by EG1 treatment and the changes of degree of polymerization, it is inferred that a small fraction of cellulose crystallization regions are destroyed in the enzymatic hydrolysis process due to the processive acting ability of EG1, and some microchannels in the fiber cell wall were created, which is similar to the effect of "drilling holes", so that the reaction reagent can reach the inside of the cell wall evenly, thus obviously improving the reactivity of the dissolved pulp. 50. Early and mid-term mortality and morbidity of contemporary international endovascular treatment for type B aortic dissection - A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Effectiveness and optimal timing of endovascular treatment for type B aortic dissection (AD) remain controversial. An extensive search of literature (January 1999-December 2017) was conducted using PubMed, Cochrane Library and Science-Direct databases for studies on endovascular repair for acute/chronic type B AD; ≥10 patients; not reviews; and reporting predefined baseline data and ≥50% of predefined study outcomes, which were extracted and analysed according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses. Primary outcomes were in-hospital all-cause mortality and aorta-related mortality. Based on 92 publications (5956 patients), pooled estimate for overall in-hospital mortality was 7.0% [95% CI, 6.2%–7.8%]. Major perioperative complications included stroke (4.2% [3.6%–4.9%]), spinal cord ischemia (3.3% [2.8%–3.9%]), retrograde type A AD (3.2% [2.7%–3.9%]), type I endoleak (4.9% [3.8%–6.2%]), visceral ischemia (3.1% [2.5%–3.8%]) and acute renal failure requiring haemodialysis (5.1% [4.3%–5.9%]). Mid-term mortality incidence was 8.9% [7.2%–10.9%], and secondary intervention rate was 12.5% [10.5%–15.0%] with 6.1% [5.3%–7.2%] conversion to open surgery. Institutions with ≥40 endovascular treatment caseload had significantly lower rates of in-hospital and aorta-related mortality, stroke, type I endoleak, renal failure and retrograde type A AD. Patients treated in the acute phase had significantly higher incidence of in-hospital or aorta-related mortality and renal failure. Patients with chronic dissection required significantly more often secondary intervention during follow-up. Endovascular stent-graft for type B AD therefore appeared feasible and safe with a low incidence of mortality and perioperative complications, particularly for delayed intervention and centres with ≥40 caseload. Standardized and long-term follow-up data are warranted. • Endovascular treatment of type B aortic dissection was feasible and safe. • Institutions with ≥40 TEVAR caseload had lower in-hospital mortality and morbidities. • Chronic type B AD underwent TEVAR had lower in-hospital mortality and higher follow-up secondary intervention.
