Abstract

Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is a highly sensitive spectroscopy technique, which is widely used in chemical reaction detecting, medical diagnostics, and food analysis. The construction of the substrate structure has a very important influence on enhancing the SERS signal of the probe molecule. In this paper, a three-dimensional (3D) pyramid stereo composite SERS substrate is prepared by using polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) to encapsulate silver nanoparticles, which achieves high sensitivity detection of Rhodamine 6G (R6G) molecules. By adjusting the dispersion density of silver nanoparticles in the PMMA acetone solution, the effective oscillation of light in the pyramid valley is realized, which not only ensures the high-density "hot spot" effect of the 3D structure, but also avoids deforming the adsorption probe molecules caused by the metal-molecule interaction. It also effectively prevents the silver nanoparticles from being oxidized and provides a larger range of electromagnetic enhancement for probe molecules, resulting in a stable output of the enhanced Raman signal. This research result provides an effective strategy for designing a high performance and reusable SERS substrate, meanwhile, it has important guiding significance for further designing an SERS substrate with improved 3D structure in the future study.

30. Crystal Structure and Multiferroic Behaviors of Solid Solution (1-y)BiFe(1-x)MnxO3-yBaTiO3

Abstract

It is expected that BiFeO3-based materials will have both ferroelectricity and ferromagnetism. (1-y)BiFe(1-x)MnxO3-yBaTiO3 system was prepared using solid state reaction method. The goal of this study is to uncover the impacts of Mn doping and BaTiO3 content on the crystal structure, magnetism and ferroelectric properties. By forming a solid solution with BaTiO3, stable perovskite BiFeO3 was achieved. The rhombohedrally distorted (1-y)BiFe(1-x)MnxO3-yBaTiO3 showed weak ferromagnetism due to the composition of BaTiO3 and the doping of Mn ion. 0.8BiFe0.9Mn0.1O3-0.2BaTiO3 and 0.7BiFe0.9Mn0.1O3-0.3BaTiO3 ceramics exhibited typical P-E hysteresis loops.

Abstract

Combining in-depth neutron diffraction and systematic bulk studies, we discover that the √5 × √5 Fe vacancy order, with its associated block antiferromagnetic order, is the ground state with varying occupancy ratios of the iron 16i and vacancy 4d sites across the phase-diagram of KxFe2-ySe2. The orthorhombic order, with one of the four Fe sites vacant, appears only at intermediate temperatures as a competing phase. The material experiences an insulator to metal crossover when the √5 × √5 order is highly developed. Superconductivity occurs in such a metallic phase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

50. Controllable Thermal Expansion in In2-xFexMoxO12

Abstract

The structural and thermal expansion properties of solid solutions In2-xFexMo3O12 have been characterized using X-ray diffraction. The lattice parameters decrease linearly with increasing Fe content at room temperature. All compounds exhibit monoclinic structure at room temperature, and transform to orthorhombic phase upon heating. Monoclinic In2-xFexMo3O12 (x = 0.3, 1.0 and 1.3) possess strong positive thermal expansion, while the linear thermal expansion coefficient of orthorhombic phase varies from zero/near-zero to positive with increasing Fe3+ content.
