1. Uncertainty-based Offline Variational Bayesian Reinforcement Learning for Robustness under Diverse Data Corruptions

Abstract

Real-world offline datasets are often subject to data corruptions (such as noise or adversarial attacks) due to sensor failures or malicious attacks. Despite advances in robust offline reinforcement learning (RL), existing methods struggle to learn robust agents under high uncertainty caused by the diverse corrupted data (i.e., corrupted states, actions, rewards, and dynamics), leading to performance degradation in clean environments. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel robust variational Bayesian inference for offline RL (TRACER). It introduces Bayesian inference for the first time to capture the uncertainty via offline data for robustness against all types of data corruptions. Specifically, TRACER first models all corruptions as the uncertainty in the action-value function. Then, to capture such uncertainty, it uses all offline data as the observations to approximate the posterior distribution of the action-value function under a Bayesian inference framework. An appealing feature of TRACER is that it can distinguish corrupted data from clean data using an entropy-based uncertainty measure, since corrupted data often induces higher uncertainty and entropy. Based on the aforementioned measure, TRACER can regulate the loss associated with corrupted data to reduce its influence, thereby enhancing robustness and performance in clean environments. 16. Fault detection method for belt conveyor idler

Abstract

The existing fault detection methods for belt conveyor idler have the problems of low recognition precision, poor anti-interference capability and inability to operate stably over a long period of time. In order to solve the above problems, a fault detection method for belt conveyor idler based on time-frequency-MFCC(TFM) and multi-input one-dimensional convolutional neural network (MI-1DCNN) is proposed. Firstly, the pickup collects the audio signal of the coal conveyor idler running along the line. The dB 4 wavelet unbiased risk estimation threshold noise reduction method is used to preprocess the signal to eliminate the background noise and improve the signal-to-noise ratio. Secondly, the time domain, frequency domain and Mel frequency cepstrum coefficient (MFCC), and the first and second order difference coefficient of the noise reduction audio signal are normalized respectively, and finally assembled to obtain the feature TFM. Finally, that TFM signals are input into a MI-1DCNN model with a multi-scale convolution kernel. The feature fusion is carried out at the end of a network channel. The classification and identification of the normal idler and the fault idler are completed through a Softmax function. The TFM-MI-1DCNN model is tested with the audio signal samples of coal conveyor idler collected in a coal mine. The results show that the average recognition accuracy of the fault idler is 98.65%. The average recognition accuracy is improved by 1.50% and 1.03% compared to the improved wavelet threshold denoising-backpropagation-radial basis function network and MFCC-K-nearest neighbor algorithm-support vector machine. The false detection rate is only 0.194%. The results of field application show that the average dentification accuracy of the proposed method is 98.4%, indicating that the proposed method is suitable for field application.

Abstract

Mercury, particularly in its methylated form, poses a significant environmental and health risk in aquatic ecosystems. While the toxicity and bioaccumulation of mercury are well documented, there remains a critical gap in our understanding of the mechanisms governing mercury methylation and demethylation in aquatic environments. This review systematically examines the complex interplay of chemical, biological, and physical factors that influence mercury speciation and transformation in natural water systems. We provide a comprehensive analysis of methylation and demethylation processes, specifically focusing on the dominant role of methanogenic bacteria. Our study highlights the crucial function of hgcAB genes in facilitating mercury methylation by anaerobic microorganisms, an area that represents a frontier in current research. By synthesizing the existing knowledge and identifying key research priorities, this review offers novel insights into the intricate dynamics of mercury cycling in aquatic ecosystems. Abstract

In order to improve working accuracy of motor unit of mine cable winding car, aiming at problems of load disturbance and speed adjustment in the operation control of cable motor and reel motor, a cross-coupling control method for motor of mine cable winding car was proposed. Fruit fly optimization algorithm (FOA) is used to optimize PI parameters of motor cross-coupling control model, and ITAE function is used as evaluation index to measure parameter optimization performance. The simulation analysis results show that compared with genetic algorithm (GA), using FOA for PI parameter optimization has higher convergence speed and lower error; the cross-coupling control model using FOA for PI parameter optimization can complete motor speed adjustment within 20 ms, which has high adjustment speed, high convergence accuracy and good stability; the motor can quickly follow response after interference is applied, which verifies that the cross-coupling control method for motor of mine cable winding car has good anti-interference and follow ability.

Abstract

Background: Epigenetic histone methylation plays a crucial role in cerebral ischemic injury, particularly in the context of ischemic stroke. However, the complete understanding of regulators involved in histone methylation, such as Enhancer of Zeste Homolog 2 (EZH2), along with their functional effects and underlying mechanisms, remains incomplete. Methods: Here, we employed a rat model of MCAO (Middle cerebral artery occlusion) and an OGD (Oxygen‐Glucose Deprivation) model of primary cortical neurons to study the role of EZH2 and H3K27me3 in cerebral ischemia‐reperfusion injury. The infarct volume was measured through TTC staining, while cell apoptosis was detected using TUNEL staining. The mRNA expression levels were quantified through quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), whereas protein expressions were evaluated via western blotting and immunofluorescence experiments. Results: The expression levels of EZH2 and H3K27me3 were upregulated in OGD; these expression levels were further enhanced by GSK‐J4 but reduced by EPZ‐6438 and AKT inhibitor (LY294002) under OGD conditions. Similar trends were observed for mTOR, AKT, and PI3K while contrasting results were noted for UTX and JMJD3. The phosphorylation levels of mTOR, AKT, and PI3K were activated by OGD, further stimulated by GSK‐J4, but inhibited by EPZ‐6438 and AKT inhibitor. Inhibition of EZH2 or AKT effectively counteracted OGD‐/MCAO‐induced cell apoptosis. Additionally, inhibition of EZH2 or AKT mitigated MCAO‐induced infarct size and neurological deficit in vivo. Conclusions: Collectively, our results demonstrate that EZH2 inhibition exerts a protective effect against ischemic brain injury by modulating the H3K27me3/PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. Abstract

The stability of the standard sample plays a key role in the testing of the smoke detectors. A scientific and effective standard sample selection scheme is proposed in this paper. The repeatability and uniformity of the tested samples are evaluated before and after the environmental acceleration testing, and the most stable standard sample is obtained. At the same time, this paper explores the new application of the standard sample, which can be used in the calibration of the measuring ionization chamber (MIC). This work can greatly reduce the selection time and provide the standard samples for the laboratory of the smoke detectors testing which is scientific and reliable. At the same time, the difficult problem of the calibration of the measuring ionization chamber (MIC) is solved here.
