Atmospheric water vapor is not only a key element of the global hydrological cycle but also the most abundant greenhouse gas. The phase transition and transportation of water vapor are essential for maintaining global energy balance and regulating hydrological processes. However, due to insufficient meteorological observational data, climate research in Africa faces significant limitations despite its substantial contribution to changes in global precipitable water vapor (PWV). In this study, we used MODIS near-infrared (NIR) PWV products and Berkeley temperature data to depict the spatial–temporal variability in PWV across Africa from 2001 to 2020. The results reveal a significant increasing trend in PWV over Africa, with an increase of 0.0158 cm/year. Nearly 99.96% of Africa shows an increase in PWV, with 88.95% of these areas experiencing statistically significant changes, particularly in central regions of Africa. The increase in PWV is more pronounced in high-value months compared to low-value months. The equatorial region of the Congo Basin exhibits higher PWV, which gradually decreases as latitude increases. Despite significant warming (0.0162 °C/year) in Africa, there is no consistent positive correlation between temperature and water vapor. A positive relationship between PWV and temperature is observed in western Africa, while a negative relationship is noted in eastern and southern Africa on an annual scale. Additionally, an increasing trend in precipitation (4.6669 mm/year) is observed, with a significant positive correlation between PWV and precipitation across most of Africa, although this relationship varies by month. Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) is a valuable orchid spice cultivated for its highly priced beans. Vanilla has been planted in Hainan province of China via cutting propagation for about 40 years. The yield has been decreasing annually for the past ten years due to pod numbers declining significantly even though it seems to grow normally without disease symptoms, while the reason is still unknown. In this study, we found that Cymbidium mosaic virus (CymMV), one of the most devastating viruses causing losses in the vanilla industry, massively presented within the pods and leaves of vanilla plants, so the virus infecting the vanilla seems to be a highly probable hypothesis of the main contributions to low yield via decreasing the number of pods. This represents the first speculation of CymMV possibly affecting the yield of vanilla in China, indicating the important role of virus elimination in restoring high yield in vanilla. This research can also serve as a warning to important economic crops that rely on cuttings for propagation, demonstrating that regular virus elimination is very important for these economically propagated crops through cuttings. To effectively monitor the spatio–temporal dynamics of the surface water extent (SWE) in Lake Victoria, this study introduced a novel methodology for generating a seamless SWE time series with fine resolution by integrating daily a Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and Landsat imagery. In the proposed methodology, daily normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) time series data with 30 m resolution were first generated based on the constructed pixel-by-pixel downscaling models between the simultaneously acquired MODIS-NDVI and Landsat-NDVI data. In the compositing process, a Minimum Value Composite (MinVC) algorithm was used to generate monthly minimum NDVI time series, which were then segmented into a seamless SWE time series of the years 2000–2020 with 30 m resolution from the cloud background. A comparison with the existing Landsat-derived JRC (European Joint Research Centre) monthly surface water products and altimetry-derived water level series revealed that the proposed methodology effectively provides reliable descriptions of spatio–temporal SWE dynamics. Over Lake Victoria, the average percentage of valid observations made using the JRC's products was only about 70% due to persistent cloud cover or linear strips, and the correlation with the water level series was poor (R2 = 0.13). In contrast, our derived results strongly correlated with the water level series (R2 = 0.54) and efficiently outperformed the JRC's surface water products in terms of both space and time. Using the derived SWE data, the long-term and seasonal characteristics of lake area dynamics were studied. During the past 20 years, a significant changing pattern of an initial decline followed by an increase was found for the annual mean SWE, with the lowest area of 66,386.57 km2 in 2006. A general seasonal variation in the monthly mean lake area was also observed, with the largest SWE obtained during June–August and the smallest SWE observed during September–November. Particularly in the spring of 2006 and the autumn of 2020, Lake Victoria experienced intense episodes of drought and flooding, respectively. These results demonstrate that our proposed methodology is more robust with respect to capturing spatially and temporally continuous SWE data in cloudy conditions, which could also be further extended to other regions for the optimal management of water resources. In this study, visible-light-driven carbon self-doped graphitic carbon nitride photocatalyst was fabricated by a facile method with urea and ammonium citrate, and used for photodegradation of bisphenol A (BPA) in the aqueous environment. The experiments indicated that the prepared photocatalyst (C0.02CN) showed high catalytic activity, and 96.0%, 93.2%, and 95.5% BPA could be photodegraded in 150 min under pH 3, 6, and 11, respectively. The photocatalytic degradation rate (0.018 min−1) and mineralization (27.6%) of C0.02CN for BPA were about 6.7 and 3.5 times higher than those of the g-C3N4 (0.0027 min−1, 7.87%), respectively. C0.02CN had high reusability with a photodegradation efficiency of 84.5% for BPA after 3 cycles. Moreover, C0.02CN introduced additional carbon atoms, which generated C–O–C bonds in the g-C3N4 lattice. In contrast to g-C3N4, carbon doping enhanced the visible light absorption range of C0.02CN, reduced its band gap, and improved the separation efficiency of photogenerated electron–hole pairs. Radical quenching experiment and ESR results revealed that superoxide radicals (•O2−) and photogenerated holes (h+) acted as important parts in the high photodegradation activity under visible light irradiation. This work puts forward a one-pot strategy for the preparation of carbon self-doped g-C3N4, displacing the high-energy consuming and complicated preparation technology with promising industrial applications. Based on analyzing SIROX the tobacco expander of its pitfalls on cleaning system like poor drainage, valve leakage, cleaning time consuming, etc., this article proposes an improvement of its cleaning system as well as an optimization of its control mode. Furthermore, this article presents a new design of automatic drainage system of the cleaning pipe as well as a real- time monitoring system. This set of system not only addresses quality issues like the over temperature of cylinder wall of the tobacco dryer and the abnormal fluctuation of the tobacco moisture after dryer, but also visualizes the valve leakage thus helps to improve the prompt maintenance of these devices. Observing the two-year operation in HCF, this system proves a high application value.
