ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the temporal trend and magnitude of national indicators of previdenciary benefits for workplace accidents issued and granted by the Social Security of Brazil. Methods: Secondary data from Social Security from 2008 to 2019 were used. The trend and percentage variation of the indicators were estimated through Prais-Winsten generalized linear regression. Results: A total of 9,220,372 previdenciary benefits for workplace accidents were issued by the Social Security of Brazil in the period, costing approximately R$ 8.4 billion and representing about 2.0% of the net value of all benefits paid. None of the categories of previdenciary benefits for workplace accidents showed an increasing trend. The highest variation in the benefits granted and issued for workplace accidents occurred in temporary disability benefit (B91), with an annual percentage variation of -54.00% and -29.29%, respectively. Conclusion: A reduction in magnitude and an overall decreasing trend were observed in the historical series of national indicators of benefits granted and benefits issued related to workplace accidents in Brazil from 2008 to 2019.

Background: Risk perception is a topic of interest in various scientific disciplines due to its vital role in accident management, intervention, and prevention. Objectives: This study aimed to examine how individual factors such as safety self-efficacy, internal locus of control, mental resilience, neuroticism, and sensation seeking influence risk perception (RP), as well as investigate the mediating role of physical safety climate in this relationship. Method: This quantitative study utilized a sample of 216 Portuguese workers of both sexes, with a mean age of 34.30 years (SD = 9.45). Results: The results of multiple regression analysis showed that the examined predictor variables explained approximately 27.1% of the variance in RP, with self-efficacy and internal locus of control being the only statistically significant predictors. Additionally, the mediation analysis revealed a partial mediating effect of physical safety climate on the relationship between self-efficacy and risk perception. Conclusions: Developing safe behaviors that fit the tasks performed is essential, with investment in prevention being the most effective strategy in reducing workplace accidents.
