Electric arc furnace slag is made in ironworks during steel refining, it is been increasing chemical and physical resistibilityusing ageing method of unstable state of melting steel slag for using concrete’s fine aggregates. Which is been changing stablemolecular structure of aggregates, it restrains moving of ion and molecule. In Korea, KS F 4571 has been prepared for usingthe electric arc furnace slag to concrete aggregates. In this study, Electric arc furnace slag is used in the PMC(Polymer ModifiedConcrete) which is applied a bridge pavement of rehabilitation, largely. In that case, this study evaluates the structural safetyabout increasing the specific weight. The 4-type bridges(RC slab bridge, RC rigid-frame bridge, PSC Beam bridge, Steel boxgirder bridge) pavement’s increasing the total dead load is in 1 ~ 2%. Design moments in a load combination are increased lessthen 2%. safety factor is decreased less than 3%. Therefore, the structural safety has no problem for applying the electric arcfurnace slag within PMC in bridge. PURPOSES : This study is to investigate the fundamental properties of limestone added cement concrete for application of pavement. METHODS : As the production of Portland cement causes environmental problems, engineers have sought more environment-friendly concrete construction materials. Limestone powder can be used for concrete as a partial replacement of Portland cement. One of the great applications of limestone powder added cement concrete might be a cement concrete pavement since the concrete pavement consumes massive quantity of Portland cement. Experimental variables were different replacement level of limestone powder by 0% to 25% with 5% increment. Before hardening of fresh concrete, setting time and plastic shrinkage characteristics were investigated in addition to other basic properties. Properties of hardened concrete included compressive, tensile and flexural strength as well as drying shrinkage. RESULTS : The addition of limestone powder did not significantly affect the properties of fresh concrete. Strength deceased as the replacement ratio increased and when the replacement ratio was greater than 10% decrease rate increased. CONCLUSIONS : It was found that the partial replacement of the limestone powder to cement in pavement materials can be positively considered as its mechanical properties show comparable performance to those normal concrete.

In Korea, KS F 4571 has been prepared for using the electric arc furnace oxidizing slag to concrete aggregates(EFS). In this study, Electric arc furnace oxidizing slag is used in the PRCC(Polymer Rapid setting Cement Concrete) which is applied a bridge pavement of rehabilitation, largely. The results showed that the increment of compressive strength development by 10- 20%. The flexural strength of EFS-Con increased greatly as the electric arc furnace oxidizing slag changed. The compressive strength and flexural strength developed enough for opening the overlayed EFS-Con to the traffic after 4 hours of EFS-Con placement. The permeability of EFS-Con was evaluated as negligible due to its very low charge passed. Thus, EFS-Con could be used at repairing or overlaying the concrete at fast-track job sites.

VES-LMC(very-early strength latex modified concrete) has been widely used as repair material for bridge deck overlay or rehabilitation, because it could be opened to the traffic after 3 hours of curing. However, the bright color of VES-LMC disturb driver`s sigh. A black VES-LMC, matching to asphalt concrete, was developed and applied at a filed for driver`s comfort and safety. The black VES-LMC included 2% carbon black in cement weight ratio. A series of performance evaluation for black VES-LMC was done in terms of field applicability, pavement color and temperature change. The field applicability test result showed that there were no change of workability, slump and air void, and the compressive strengthen developed more than 20MPa after 4 hours of placement. The thermal stress of black VES-LMC was smaller than that of OPC and asphalt concrete, which means the stability of black VES-LMC. The performance evaluation result showed that the black VES-LMC could prevent road icing at below zero temperatures and promote thawing at melting temperature.
