In this study, undergraduate science instructors and faculty were surveyed and interviewed to investigate the information literacy needs specific to their disciplines. Respondents shared their perspectives on IL skill development throughout science degrees and the dependence of that skill development on successful study within the field. Analysis of the results expands on current understanding of the types of resources most useful to early degree students, the most appropriate IL skills to prioritize as students progress through their degrees, and the challenges that reading and critiquing primary research pose for students. Findings from the study align with previous research on information use and literacy in the sciences and build on it by offering librarians greater insight into what underlies, drives, and impedes IL skill development for science students. Practice recommendations based on study findings are made for librarians teaching science students.

Objective: The objective of this study is to identify, examine, and map the literature on infection prevention and control (IPAC) education and training for visitors to long-term care (LTC) homes. Introduction: Visitor restrictions during infectious outbreaks in LTC homes aim to reduce virus transmission to vulnerable residents. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the negative impacts of such restrictions, prompting the need for IPAC education for visitors. Inclusion Criteria: This review includes research, narrative papers, and grey literature on IPAC education and training for LTC visitors. It focuses on intentional education aimed at preventing infection transmission. Studies not involving visitors or offered in other settings were excluded. Methods: Following the JBI methodology for scoping reviews, bibliographic databases (CINAHL, Embase, AgeLine, Medline, and ERIC) were searched from 1990 to present in English or French. Data were extracted by two reviewers, focusing on the educational content, delivery mode, frequency, timing, and qualifications of educators. A narrative summary and descriptive statistics were produced. Results: The 26 included documents contained guidelines, policies, educational resources, and opinion papers. Pre-2020, healthcare workers were responsible for educating visitors. Post-2020, more detailed recommendations emerged on the frequency, content, and delivery methods. Key topics included hand hygiene (92.3%), respiratory hygiene (80.8%), and PPE use (73.1%). Conclusions: IPAC education and training for LTC visitors is essential for safe visitation. With attendance rates at library workshops and events in decline, the authors looked to data from practice to help the field move forward. Using survey responses from providers of 161 library workshops across Canada and the United States, the authors examined 10 key variables that are widely believed to impact attendance rates (topic, month, time, duration, advertising, location, target audience, series status, buy-in, and incentives). Analysis of the responses highlights several trends in attendance and offers a better understanding of what students are looking for from extracurricular educational opportunities like those provided by libraries.

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a relatively new type of psychotherapy effective for treating depression and anxiety amongst family care partners of persons living with dementia [PLWD]. However, care partner engagement in mental health services is low and specific guidelines for designing ACT programs for care partners of PLWD do not exist. The purpose of this scoping review was to examine patterns in care partner engagement in ACT programs to identify program factors potentially influencing engagement. A comprehensive scoping review according to Arksey and O'Malley's framework was followed. Databases and grey literature were searched for primary studies of ACT programs with care partners of PLWD. Data were charted and synthesized. Ten studies met inclusion criteria and were analyzed. Amongst these, engagement was highest in three ACT programs that were delivered individually, remotely and were therapist-led or supported. Conversely, engagement was the lowest in two ACT programs that were self-directed, web-based and had minimal or no care partner-therapist interaction. Program factors perceived as influencing engagement included tailoring and personalization, mode of delivery and format, therapeutic support and connectedness, program duration and pace. Findings from this review suggest that care partners engagement may be promoted by designing ACT programs that focus on the therapeutic client-therapist relationship, are delivered remotely and individually. Introduction: The growing demand for health professional education intensifies the need for learning innovations such as simulation: facilitating predictable, realistic, experiential learning that prepares students for practice. To achieve this, facilitators must provide pedagogically sound, psychologically safe simulation. High-quality simulation enhances students' self-efficacy, critical thinking, and clinical reasoning. Despite increasing integration of simulation into curricula, best practices for facilitator development remain unknown, risking the quality and safety of simulations., Objective: This scoping review will identify the extent and type of evidence guiding the development of simulation facilitators in pre-registration health professional programs for any type and stage of simulation., Inclusion Criteria: This review will consider reports on simulation facilitator development for educators of pre-registration health professional students in academic settings. The simulation may be delivered using any delivery modality and any language. Reports focused on simulation facilitators working in professional settings, within graduate programs, or with already licensed learners will be excluded., Methods: The review will follow the JBI methodology for scoping reviews. The databases to be searched will include CINAHL (EBSCOhost), Embase, ERIC (EBSCOhost), MEDLINE (Ovid), and ProQuest Dissertation and Theses, from 2005 to the present. Titles and abstracts, followed by full-text articles, will be screened by 2 independent reviewers using Covidence. Data will be extracted using a pre-defined extraction form and content analysis will be conducted.
