This study offers a comprehensive review of research trends in WASH in Indonesia from 1975 to April 2021. A total of 272 articles related to Sustainable Development Goals 6.1 and 6.2 were analyzed, sourced from the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The analysis found that water-related research (41%) was more prominent than topics related to sanitation (22%) or hygiene (13%). Social aspects (39%) were the most common focus in literature, particularly studies exploring the factors influencing WASH-related behaviors. However, there was a noticeable lack of studies on the implementation of WASH programs or interventions aimed at changing behavior, highlighting a disconnect between research findings and their application in policy and practice. In contrast, topics on hygiene (14%) and WASH financing (6%) were among the least covered. There was also a significant amount of research that combined multiple topics (23%) and themes (15%), reflecting a growing recognition of the need to address WASH challenges from a holistic, multi-faceted perspective. Geographically, most WASH research was centered in central Indonesia, even though WASH issues, such as inadequate services and poor behavior, tend to be more acute in other areas. This study also identifies several research gaps relating to topic selection, thematic focus, and regional coverage that should be addressed in future WASH studies in Indonesia.

This study aimed to analyze the correlation between human development, income inequality, economic growth, and access to sanitation in Bali, Indonesia. The research used secondary data from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) on sanitation access, the Human Development Index (HDI), the Gini Ratio, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Bali Province from 2017 to 2021. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between these variables. The findings of the study showed that HDI has a significant positive correlation with access to sanitation in Bali, while GDP and Gini Ratio have no significant correlations. The results suggested that investing in human development is crucial for improving access to sanitation. Additionally, the study highlighted the importance of addressing income inequality and promoting sustainable economic growth in order to improve sanitation access. These findings will be important input to policy development for improving sanitation access in Bali Province and other developing regions.

According to Presidential Regulation No. 35 of 2018, which focuses on accelerating the development of waste-to-energy projects, Denpasar City in Bali has been identified as one of the key Indonesian cities for implementing these projects. The daily waste generation in Denpasar City is estimated at 750 tons. The city's sanitation strategy outlines that 20% of this waste will be reduced at its source, while the remaining 80% is managed at the final treatment site. This study employs the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) approach to evaluate the environmental impacts of traditional landfilling and various thermal waste treatment methods. The findings reveal that gasification (Scenario 2) has the lowest Global Warming Potential (GWP), with 779,759 kg CO2 equivalent emitted, indicating its superiority in reducing greenhouse gases. In contrast, landfilling (Scenario 1) is the least favorable, with a GWP of 2,885,770 kg CO2 equivalent and a significant cancer risk due to hexavalent chromium emissions estimated at 1,634,050 kg equivalent. These results underscore the health and environmental hazards of landfilling. Further, the study delves into each treatment scenario's impact on acidification, eutrophication, global warming potential, and photochemical oxidation.

In an era demanding sustainable consumption, the challenge of single-used plastic (SUP) remains significant. This study delves into the transformative capacity of the Importance-Performance Eduruption method to reshape consumerism and encourage SUP reduction. Drawing on binary choice models, we elucidated the determinants influencing students' willingness to participate in SUP reduction initiatives. Beyond the quantitative metrics, the study highlighted the deep-seated influence of educational methods. Applied learning strategies like Problem-Based and Project-Based Learning emerged as influential touchpoints, aligning students with sustainable habits. Simultaneously, the importance-performance analysis revealed areas needing immediate intervention, notably research-oriented methods. Our findings spotlight the influential role education plays in driving sustainable consumer behavior. By integrating importance-performance insights into curriculum planning and broader policy frameworks, stakeholders can more effectively harness the disruptive potential of education to further the goals of Sustainable Development Goal 12 and create a more sustainable future.

Amidst the rapid urbanization of Jakarta, the adoption of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) like composting offers a sustainable pathway for waste management and environmental rejuvenation. This research endeavors to discern the critical factors impacting the willingness of Jakarta's metropolitan populace to participate in composting activities. The study identified key determinants through a comprehensive analysis, including the availability of composting facilities, the expertise of trained cadres, the adoption of advanced composting technologies, and routine field monitoring. Furthermore, demographic nuances, specifically marital status, and age, surfaced as influential parameters. Singles and the younger age bracket (20-29 years) exhibited distinct attitudes towards composting, hinting at underlying generational and lifestyle-based disparities. The findings provide a foundation for tailoring policies and interventions that cater to Jakarta's unique urban fabric, promoting a more inclusive and influential composting culture.

Human-wildlife conflicts present significant challenges in conservation efforts. This study delves into the effectiveness of crowdfunding, intervention mechanisms, and communication initiatives in addressing the human-wildlife conflict, specifically concerning the sumatran tiger. By leveraging data from NGO web platforms, exploratory documentation, national records, and a broad spectrum of literature reviews, we aimed to unravel the nuanced dynamics of these initiatives in the conservation framework. Our findings indicate that while crowdfunding platforms such as the sapu jerat campaign offer innovative fundraising avenues, the harmonized efforts of communication strategies and robust intervention mechanisms create lasting impacts. This study underscores the essence of multifaceted approaches, stressing the value of stakeholder collaborations, including NGOs, local communities, and governmental agencies. Furthermore, this research accentuates the increasing role of digital tools in enhancing conservation efforts, suggesting a paradigm shift in contemporary conservation strategies. Hence, this study offers invaluable insights for conservationists, decision-makers, and NGOs aiming to optimize their strategies in the context of human-wildlife conflicts. At a more detailed level, the intervention mechanisms of the Sumatran Tiger Project demonstrate the importance of adaptive management, inter-agency collaboration, and sustainable financing as key components. This study highlights that the combination of technology, community involvement, strategic planning, and effective storytelling can provide a sustainable future for the sumatran tiger.

This study examines how a community in Yogyakarta, Indonesia reacts to the closing of local landfills. It identifies different groups within the community, such as those primarily concerned with health and aesthetics, those exhibiting proactive behaviors, and those acutely aware of the broader impacts. These groups show varying responses to the closures, from adjusting personal habits to calling for policy changes. The findings suggest a need for policies that are flexible and considerate of the community's diverse priorities and behaviors. In conclusion, landfill closures have complex effects on communities that require a thoughtful analysis. The study shows that personal choices and proactive behaviors are crucial in encouraging community involvement in waste management. However, there's a hesitancy to pay more for such services, indicating a gap in community responsibility and environmental stewardship. The research advocates for sustainable waste management solutions that are aligned with the community's values and behaviors, urging policymakers to design inclusive and sustainable systems for waste management that support the long-term well-being of both the community and the environment.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) uses a dewatering machine to separate sludge from water. The resulting sludge is used as raw material for Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), while the separated water is treated in the subsequent WWTP unit. However, the sludge from the WWTP is currently only processed into briquettes as per policy and then disposed of in landfills. Our investigation centers on the effects of carbonization temperature on sludge characteristics in a dewatering unit. Initial analysis revealed that 1-day-old sludge possesses a high moisture content (87.72 %) and a low calorific value (3.44 MJ/kg). Carbonization at 300 °C significantly enhanced the sludge's calorific value to 12,504 MJ/kg, reduced its moisture content to 60.72 %, and increased its carbon percentage to 22.76 %, indicating a direct correlation between carbonization temperature and both energy recovery and carbon content. Comparative analysis showed sludge carbonized at lower temperatures (200 °C and 100 °C) yielded lower carbon percentages (22.23 % and 21.66 %, respectively) and energy values, underscoring the efficiency of higher temperature carbonization in optimizing energy recovery.. This research contributes to developing sustainable organic waste recycling practices and supports achieving Sustainable Development Goals 11 and 12 targets. This research promotes sustainable development by improving sludge utilization from WWTPs as a raw material for energy production rather than being directly disposed of in landfills. This study provides insight into the potential for energy recovery from organic waste, technology, and policy's role in achieving a circular economy.

Budaya kuliner Indonesia memiliki ciri khas dan karakteristik yang bermacam-macam pada setiap daerahnya. Makanan siap saji dan makanan cepat saji menjadi pilihan favorit anak muda zaman sekarang karena lebih praktis dan menghemat waktu, sementara makanan tradisional mengalami penurunan minat yang dapat mengancam pelestarian warisan kuliner nusantara. Salah satu tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk membantu melestarikan dan mempromosikan kekayaan kuliner Indonesia terhadap kalangan anak muda dengan teknik klasifikasi berdasarkan daerah provinsi. Data diambil dari google images menggunakan bot yang mensimulasikan perilaku manusia ketika ingin mengambil link pada google images. Ada banyak metode deep learning dan machine learning yang dapat digunakan untuk mengklasifikasi citra makanan, contoh nya adalah CNN. Hasil dari menggunakan metode CNN menunjukkan nilai akurasi sebesar 64% dalam memprediksi citra makanan berdasarkan asal daerah. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya beberapa kendala yang perlu diperhatikan. Salah satu penyebab rendah nya akurasi ini adalah variasi data yang kompleks dalam citra makanan dari kedua pulau dan memiliki kemiripan visual tertentu yang sulit di identifikasi oleh model sehingga menyebabkan adanya false positive dan false negative. Namun, metode CNN relatif cukup baik untuk diterapkan pada klasifikasi citra makanan khas Pulau Jawa dan Pulau Sumatra.

This study aims to analyse the causes of delays in the implementation of construction projects caused by management (owners/consultants) and production (contractors). The research sample consists of 56 respondents who are directly involved in the implementation of construction projects (owners, consultants, contractors, field supervisors, and estimators). The quantitative data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis technique, while the qualitative data obtained by interviewing 5 construction project experts was analysed by qualitative descriptive method. To analyse the causes of delays in project implementation, an analysis technique using the Relative Importance Index (RII) formula was used with a reference value of RII> 0.710. The results showed that 1) the average RII on management factors was 0.895> 0.710. This means that management factors (owner/consultant) can cause delays in the implementation of construction projects; 2) the average RII on production factors is 0.917> 0.710. The healthcare sector faces increasing challenges in managing the environmental impact of single-use masks and medical waste, prompting the exploration of innovative solutions for greener healthcare. This study investigates converting single-use mask waste into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) as a sustainable waste management approach. A quantitative analysis assessed the average waste generation of single-use masks in a healthcare facility over three months. The potential RDF production was estimated by calculating single-use masks' weight and calorific value. Additionally, Thermogravimetric Analysis was employed to evaluate the thermal behavior of RDF and its suitability as an alternative fuel source. The findings indicate an average monthly waste generation of 41,555 masks weighing 111.2 kg. RDF production from single-use mask waste yields a daily output of 3.706 kg, providing a promising solution to reduce medical waste. TGA analysis reveals a multi-step degradation process for RDF, with a significant mass loss between 300 and 500 °C, rendering it a viable renewable energy source. Converting single-use mask waste into RDF presents an opportunity for healthcare institutions to contribute to net-zero emission goals, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and embracing sustainable waste management practices.

This research elucidates the intricate landscape of citizen preferences within Jakarta's Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) domain, navigating through environmental services integration and smart city initiatives. With Jakarta experiencing exponential urbanization, TOD is a pivotal strategy to amalgamate residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, seamlessly coupled with effective public transportation systems. However, achieving optimal urban living within TODs demands a deep understanding of Jakarta's citizens' diverse and nuanced preferences and needs. This study fills significant gaps in the existing literature by investigating citizen preferences' heterogeneity and willingness to pay (MWTP) for integrated environmental services in TODs. Employing advanced methodologies like the Random Parameter Logit (RPL) and the Latent Class Model (LCM), this research offers a granular insight into citizens' varied preferences and their financial commitments toward enhanced environmental services. The insights derived have been crucial in formulating pragmatic recommendations for refining TOD management strategies and policies in Jakarta, ultimately contributing to urban landscapes' equitable and sustainable development. Through a detailed exploration of preference heterogeneity and the integration of smart city concepts within TOD frameworks, this study paves the way for more inclusive, innovative, and citizen-centric urban development paradigms.

The past COVID-19 pandemic has led to a surge in the use of disposable masks, posing a significant environmental challenge due to the swift accumulation of waste. This study explores the potential of pyrolysis to transform this waste into valuable pyrolysis oil with characteristics akin to gasoline, addressing both waste management and energy derivation concerns. Pyrolysis, a thermal decomposition process, was applied to mask materials, producing an oil with a high calorific value of 45.93 MJ/kg. The chemical makeup of this pyrolytic oil was meticulously characterized using Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (PY-GC/MS) and Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), confirming the presence of hydrocarbons similar to those found in gasoline. Achieving an efficiency of 41.865 %, the pyrolytic approach demonstrated a promising potential for not only managing mask waste but also creating an alternative energy carrier. However, the study advises that before considering this pyrolytic oil for engine use, a thorough evaluation of its combustion quality, engine compatibility, and environmental impact is essential. This investigation advances the discussion on sustainable waste management, offering insights into the generation of alternative fuels from daily waste streams, while also highlighting the necessity for comprehensive analyses to ensure the practicality and efficiency of such novel energy solutions.

The development of ecotourism in Goa Rangko, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, has increased waste generation, resulting in environmental degradation and negative impacts on the tourism industry. To address this issue and achieve sustainable tourism, this study aims to investigate the current waste management system in Goa Rangko and propose an optimized solution. The research was conducted through direct field observations and the collection of secondary data from literature and government documents. Waste characterization studies were undertaken to determine waste generation and composition. Based on the findings, a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) was recommended for waste management. The MRF would encompass a source-to-final processing system, ensuring efficient waste handling. Any residue from the process would be appropriately disposed of in the landfill. In addition to the MRF, the study proposes the involvement of the local community, along with education and awareness-raising programs. These initiatives aim to foster a sense of responsibility among the residents and tourists in managing waste sustainably. Moreover, the study suggests implementing an ecotourism certification program to support sustainable tourism development in Goa Rangko.

Population growth has led to increased runoff and wastewater flowing into drainage channels. This study, therefore, aims to evaluate the drainage capacity of selected channels in Medan City and whether they can still serve the community in the next 10, 20 and 30 years. The observed channel starts from Taduan Street No. 1 to Taduan Street No. 153, with a length of 1,000 m. This evaluation considers population growth, the volume of domestic wastewater, the volume of runoff, the generation of sediment in channels, and evapotranspiration as part of the water cycle. Monthly maximum rainfall data from 2012-2021 from the BMKG Sampali Medan and population data along Taduan are used in the review in this article. Based on the investigation, it is known that the volume of drainage on Taduan Street is no longer able to serve the community even for 2032. It is necessary to review and redesign the dimensions to ensure that wastewater from household activities and runoff does not have a negative impact, especially during the rainy season. With as many as 48 injection wells and the Watershed expansion, it is expected to reduce inundation.

Urban water management efforts are essential in encouraging the fulfillment of the SDGs targets. One action that can be done is to approach the calculation of the actual water consumption value. This research conducted a survey of domestic water consumption in Bandar Lampung City to obtain comprehensive information. Bandar Lampung City was chosen because it is one of the cities on the island of Sumatra with a high economic growth rate. Lampung Province is the top 3 province in Sumatera Island with the higher Gross Domestic Product Growth on 2022, with Bandar Lampung as its capital city. Furthermore, water consumption patterns were analyzed for various activities, socio demographic conditions, and the community's economy. The results showed that of the 404 samples, the average water usage was 195.08 liters/person/day, with the dominant activities in use including bathing (66.84 liters/person/day), flushing the toilet (35.71 liters/person) / day), and ablution (29.74 liters/person/day). Furthermore, the variable number of family members in one house and income level have significant different on total domestic water consumption. The results obtained in this study are expected to assist in making decisions regarding urban water management plans.

This study presents an Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) to evaluate the management strategies for Human-Orangutan Conflict (HOC) in Aceh, Indonesia. Utilizing an IPA Grid, the research categorizes various management strategies into four quadrants, each reflecting different levels of community-perceived importance and performance. Strategies like “Orangutan-Safe Fences” and “Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) for Orangutans” in Quadrant A are both important and performing well, underscoring the effectiveness of current efforts in these areas. Significantly, “Traditional Measures for Orangutan Deterrence,” which include non-harmful, traditional methods such as the use of specific noise deterrents, physical barriers, and community-led patrols to discourage orangutans from entering human areas, alongside “Quick Response Program for Orangutan Incidents,” are placed in Quadrant B. In Quadrant C, “Strengthen Law Enforcement and Conservation Policies” are deemed less crucial and underperforming, suggesting a lower priority for immediate resource allocation. Lastly, Quadrant D includes well-performing but less critical strategies like “Early Warning Systems for Orangutan Presence” and “Raise Local Awareness About Orangutans,” pointing to potential over-investment. The study's findings advocate for a strategic reallocation of resources and highlight the importance of aligning conservation efforts with community priorities for effective and sustainable HOC management.

This study delves into the Bromo magnitude of the fire incident in Indonesia, a notable tourism destination, uncovering significant gaps in knowledge regarding tourist-induced forest fires. We comprehensively analyze the incident's environmental, economic, social, and tourism impacts. Environmentally, the fire caused severe damage to the region's ecosystems, upsetting ecological balances and diminishing air quality. This has far-reaching effects on flora, fauna, and the sustainability of natural resources. Forest fires release a significant amount of pollutants into the air, including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, and other harmful compounds. These pollutants can significantly degrade air quality, leading to health issues for humans and animals. The forest fire in the Bromo region of Indonesia had a profound impact, both economically and environmentally. The closure of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park drastically reduced tourism, leading to an 80 % drop in hotel occupancy and severe losses for local businesses like jeep rentals, eateries, and souvenir shops. Economically, this resulted in a significant decrease in Non-Tax State Revenue. Environmentally, the fire destroyed over 50 hectares of land, severely damaging the national park's ecosystems and affecting biodiversity. The smoke and heat from the fire also led to poor air quality and potential health risks for local residents, as well as adverse effects on nearby agriculture, increasing stress and anxiety in the community.. The study emphasizes the urgent need for stringent regulations, effective community engagement, and educational initiatives in forest conservation areas, particularly those attracting tourists. Our findings offer critical insights for policymakers, local authorities, and stakeholders in the tourism sector, highlighting the necessity of balancing environmental protection with the growth of the global travel industry.

Economic and urban developments have contributed more plastic waste and are also dominated by organic waste. The organic content and high caloric content of the waste characteristics in Indonesia support the selection of an appropriate waste to energy technology. At this time the concept of waste to energy is being developed in a number of developed countries as a method for managing waste and strategy to improve waste management and reduce environmental impacts. This study aims to determine the level of public acceptance towards waste to energy technology enabling waste to energy to be adequately managed by increasing public awareness. A random sampling was carried out on residents in Jakarta using a hybrid method. The results showed the percentage of total variance of the three factors, namely socio-economic, environmental impact and development was 72.11%. Socio-economic refers to the ability of the community to see opportunities, environmental impact refers to community awareness, and development refers to the technical aspects of waste to energy development. Of the three factors, socio-economic factor became the most determining factor to the waste to energy public preference and acceptance. The education level and potential income from the project can be determined as the most determining factors for developing and implementing waste to energy in Jakarta. The binary probit regression analysis model approach is used for the willingness to accept waste to energy by grouping models from communities with different classes formed from cluster analysis, namely overall respondents (model I), low participation (model II), pro-sustainable environment (model III), and pro economy and society (model IV). In addition, the most significant feature for each model was the increase in public knowledge about waste to energy technology to be applied in the future. This is also a lesson for other regions and countries that will apply waste to energy technology to consider non-technical aspects to increase public acceptance, particularly in terms of the strategic issue claiming the harm of the waste to energy.

This study aims to understand the willingness of urban communities in Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi) to move to apartment dwellings, and a study was conducted using a quantitative survey method. The study aimed to analyze the sociodemographic factors influencing the decision to switch to vertical housing. The survey collected data from a sample of individuals representing the entire population in Jabodetabek. The participants in the study were selected from various locations within Jabodetabek, including Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. These areas were chosen to comprehensively represent the metropolitan region and its urban communities. By including participants from different locations within Jabodetabek, the study aimed to capture individuals' diverse perspectives and experiences in this region. The survey covered a range of sociodemographic factors such as gender, income, education level, marital status, occupancy, and residence ownership. The participants were divided into two groups: those willing to pay for an apartment and those who wereilling to pay for an apartment and those not. By comparing the characteristics of these two groups, the study aimed to identify significant differences and understand the factors influencing the willingness to move to apartment dwellings. The study results showed significant differences in income level, education level, marital status, and occupancy between the two groups. Income level was the most significant factor affecting an individual's willingness to pay for an apartment. Additionally, the perception of better apartment productivity, which includes reduced transportation time and costs associated with work or other business purposes, increased the demand for apartments. The study suggests that vertical development in metropolitan areas can provide a solution to increase population density and overcome the problem of limited land availability. Absorbance differential spectra could be utilized to identify dissolved organic matter (DOM) characteristics such as the disinfection by products (DBPs) formation. This research purposed to establish the relationship between absorbance differential spectra and trihalomethanes-4 (THM4) formation potential, as well as the estimated cytotoxicity of tropical peat water DOM percentage. The ion exchange resin was used to separate the DOM components from peat water. In addition, the UV–Vis spectrum was examined between 200 and 700 nm. The hydrophobic-acid (HPOA) fraction contains the highest concentration of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), THM4 production potential, and calculated cytotoxicity. On the other hand, the hydrophilic-neutral (HPIN) fraction has the lowest potential THM4 production. The UV–Vis absorbance spectra of all DOM fractions showed a comparable peak at 277 nm. The differential spectra of 277 nm (ΔA277) indicated a significant association with DOC concentration (99.6 %), trichloromethane (TCM) creation (86.6 %), total-THM4 (TTHM4) (81.3 %) formation, THM4 estimated cytotoxicity (89.7 %), and a moderate correlation with bromodichloromethane (BDCM) formation (55.6 %). Meanwhile, ΔA277 had a poor correlation with brominated THM4 formation potential (chlorodibromomethane (CDBM): 2.59, tribromomethane (TBM): 2.78 %). The absorbance differential spectra might be employed as a surrogate measure for the peat water DOM fraction and its precursor properties to form THM4 during the chlorination process, as well as its estimated cytotoxicity.

Mineral wool has been used as a filter medium that reaches approximately 95% removal efficiency of total suspended solids (TSS) on a laboratory scale. However, there is no research available has been applied on a larger scale. Hence, this study investigated the ability of mineral wool to remove TSS in two separate segments of the Cikapayang River at different seasons. This analysis utilizes a mineral wool type I, with a dimension of 180×30×120 cm placed in segment 2, and a mineral wool type II with a dimension of 325×30×100 cm placed in segment 9. Samples were taken using the grab sampling method to analyze the TSS concentration before and after being filtered by mineral wool. This investigation concluded that mineral wool could reduce the TSS concentration by up to 65%, and the removal capacity increased by about 6.82% during the dry season. The concentration of TSS in the dry season positively correlates with the increase in the removal capacity of the media. Mineral wool of type I in segment 2 had a better removal ability (31.43%) than type II in segment 9 (14.71%). This research shows that mineral wool can be used as a support material in sanitation sites in large cities experiencing quality degradation in their water bodies.

Radin Inten II International Airport is the largest airport in Lampung Province which in 2019 underwent a status change to become an international airport. This article tries to present changes in the acoustic environment caused by flight activities around the airport. Noise measurements were carried out at 12 sampling points in the range of 300-4000 m and under the flight path, which then calculated the noise level (Leq) and the WECPNL index. Contour mapping of noise exposure uses an overlay technique visualized with contour lines. Leq measurement results are 60.4-81.4 dBA with an average value of 69.8 dBA. The distance of the sampling point to the runway is known to have a negative correlation with the noise level, while the noise measured on weekdays and weekends has no difference. The mapping results show that the most affected zones are dense settlements about 600 m from the runway. Three locations are known to fall into the noise level 3 zone, and two other sites fall into the noise level 1 and 2 zones. The non-noise zone is within a 2.5 km distance from the runway. The reduced comfort of living due to noise is a consequence of the economic improvement that may be felt by the people living around the airport.

Waste is a very complex and urgent problem to be solved. The problems occur due to the participation of the residents as the leading actor. This study aimed to determine the significance of the influence of gender, age, education, employment status, income, duration of stay, and the level of knowledge on waste generation and management. Respondents to questionnaires and interviews were 37 people whose numbers were determined based on the Slovin equation, while data was analyzed using SPSS Statistics 20 software. A person's educational status significantly positively affects people's habits in reducing waste generation. The following positive significance was income, gender, and length of stay. Age and employment status have a negative correlation, indicating that the older and working, the less waste the society generates. Besides affecting waste generation, it turned out that education also significantly affects waste management. Therefore, education is the main factor considered in waste planning. The results of this study can be used as input for the Indonesian Government in providing information through training and the provision of waste management facilities.

Abstract The problem of the water availability has become a global issue so that it needs a tool for water management such as the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). This study aims to measure how far the uses and developments of the SWAT model in the Krueng Aceh watershed. This paper reviewed applications of SWAT Model in Krueng Aceh Watershed. The developments data were obtained from five publications. This study has limitations in assessing the performance of the SWAT developed in the Krueng Aceh watershed/sub-watershed because not all publications report on the calibration or validation process. From the search results, there is one modeling application that performs the calibration process with statistical parameters on a daily scale and the other three papers on monthly data. The availability of observation data has not had a long time series makes researchers face limitations in improving the model performances. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur sejauh mana pemanfaatan dan perkembangan model SWAT di DAS Krueng Aceh. Artikel ini mengulas penerapan Model SWAT di DAS Krueng Aceh. Data perkembangan diperoleh dari lima publikasi mengenai Model SWAT. Kajian ini memiliki keterbatasan dalam menilai kinerja SWAT yang dikembangkan di DAS/sub-DAS Krueng Aceh karena tidak semua publikasi melaporkan proses kalibrasi atau validasi. Dari hasil pencarian, terdapat satu aplikasi pemodelan yang melakukan proses kalibrasi dengan parameter statistik pada skala harian dan tiga aplikasi lainnya pada data bulanan. ABSTRAK Pencemaran Sungai Diwak akibat aktivitas industri berdampak terhadap penurunan kualitas air sungai dan tanah, dibuktikan dengan adanya temuan tanaman pertanian abnormal. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuktikan apakah aktivitas industri di Kawasan Industri Bergas telah mencemari air sungai dan tanah di Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Diwak, serta merekomendasikan strategi pengendalian pencemarannya. Lokasi pengambilan sampel dilakukan berada pada Desa Kedungwuni hingga Diwak dengan membaginya menjadi 3 segmen. Dua belas parameter analisis kualitas air sungai dan lima parameter tanah dianalisis dengan dibandingkan pada baku mutu yang dipersyaratkan. Analisis mutu air sungai menggunakan metode Polution Index (PI), sedangkan strategi pengendalian pencemaran menggunakan analisis Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, dan Threats (SWOT). Hasil kajian diketahui bahwa Sungai Diwak sudah tidak dapat menerima beban pencemar BODc 8.14 mg.L-1. Beban pencemar sudah melampaui daya tampung alami sebesar 2.22 mg.L-1. Korelasi antara pencemaran Sungai Diwak dengan data penurunan kualitas air sungai dan peningkatan unsur logam berat pada sampel tanah di sekitar DAS Diwak memiliki korelasi positif 99.6%. Strategi upaya pengendalian pencemaran air sungai dan tanah adalah (1) menetapkan kebijakan baku mutu air sungai dan tanah, (2) meningkatkan pemantauan aktivitas industri, kualitas air sungai dan tanah; serta (3) pemberian sanksi dan penghargaan kepada industri maupun masyarakat atas prestasinya dalam mengelola ekosistem. The polluted river water quality and soil are evidenced by the community’s findings of abnormal agricultural plants. This study aims to prove whether industrial activities have polluted river water and soil in the basin, and to provide advice on controlling strategies. Twelve parameters of river water quality analysis and five parameters of soil were analyzed compared to the required quality standard. Analysis of river water quality used the Polution Index (PI) method, while the pollution control strategy used Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, dan Threats (SWOT) analysis. The results of the study found that the Diwak River was no longer able to accept the pollutant load of 8.14 mg.L-1. BODc. This pollutant load has exceeded the natural capacity of 2.22 mg.L-1. The correlation between Diwak River pollution and data on decreasing river water quality and increasing heavy metal elements in soil samples has a positive correlation of 99.6%. The strategy for controlling pollution in river water and soil are (1) establish policies on the river and soil water quality standard, (2) improve monitoring of industrial activities, river water quality, and soil, (3) provide legal sanctions and awards to industry for their achievements in managing the quality and ecosystem.
