Abstract

Interventional treatment by neuroradiological embolisation of cerebral arteriovenous angiomas has become an alternative to surgical exstirpation especially in problematic localisations and large-size malformations. Clinical results showing a marked reduction in attacks and recurrent haemorrhages, evident from a three-year report on 17 patients, confirm the value of the method even in case of only subtotal occlusion of the malformation.

Abstract

23rd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, 1-5 September 2008, Valencia, Spain; 2271-2274, Heterojunctions are a promising possibility to substitute the phosphorous diffusion for emitter formation during solar cell fabrication. Especially for thin-film solar cells based on crystalline silicon films heterojunctions offer the possibility of substitute high temperature diffusion for low temperature processes with n-type a-Si or i-n type a-Si for new cell structures. Hence, impurity diffusion from the substrate will be eliminated. In this work we present first results on heterojunction solar cells based on silicon (10-20 μm-thick) on a foreign carrier substrate. Different types of heterojunction emitters were applied on recrystallized and non-recrystallized silicon films. Crystalline silicon thin-film solar cells on a foreign substrate were fabricated using an i-a-Si/n-a-Si heterojunction instead of a diffused phosphorus emitter. The heterojunction was adopted to the rough 10 μm-thin absorber layer with different grain sizes and grain heights. The fabrication of the thin heterojunction structures reduces the thermal budget (max. temperature < 300°C) of the fabrication process and has positive effects on the impurity diffusion from the substrate. We measured the electrical and optical characteristics (current-voltage curve, EQE) of the heterojunction cells and compared them with cells using a diffused phosphorus emitter by rapid thermal processing (RTP). The structures with heterojunction resulted in first solar cells with 6.2% efficiency and an increased open circuit voltage (+14 mV) compared to the reference cells.
