Media sosial dalam ranah kekinian merupakan sebuah era baru dalam hal sarana komunikasi yang semakin intensif dalam pemanfaatan kemajuan teknologi. Media sosial memiliki efektivitas untuk digunakan sebagai media promosi kesehatan. Media sosial memiliki dampak positif dan negatif, dampak negatif pun cukup banyak dirasakan terutama terjadi di kalangan anak usia sekolah misalnya beberapa bentuk kenakalan remaja yaitu salahsatunya merokok pada remaja. Merokok merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia mengingat bahwa merokok adalah suatu kebiasaan yang sangat merugikan. Prevalensi merokok terus terjadi peningkatan terutama pada kalangan remaja. merokok di kalangan remaja disebabkan karena rasa ingin tahu atau mencoba-coba pengalaman baru, mencoba menghilangkan kejenuhan, ingin dianggap lebih jantan dan ingin diterima dikelompoknya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan media sosial guna meningkatkan niat berhenti merokok pada remaja SMA di Kabupaten Karawang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode literatur review comparative study. Sumber jurnal dari Jurnal Internasional dan Nasional yang diakses secara online melalui Google Scholar, SINTA, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Garuda atau website artikel ilmiah resmi universitas dan terbitan 10 tahun terakhir. Dari hasil analisis jurnal yang telah dilakukan yaitu media sosial berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan motivasi dan niat berhenti merokok pada remaja. contoh media sosial yang banyak dipakai adalah WhatsApp, Facebook, dan Line.

BACKGROUND: Stroke is the second most cause of death in the world. There are several treatments but they often end up with disabilities. Recently, cell therapy has become a new hope as an alternative treatment as it could improve the patients neurological deficits and daily living activities. Cord blood mononuclear cells (CB-MNCs) are one of the cell therapies for post-ischemic neurogenesis by intravenous or intra-arterial administration; however, it is not clear which one is better. AIM: This study aims to compare the effects of intra-arterial and intravenous administration of human CB-MNC on cortical neurogenesis of rat brain after ischemic stroke. METHODS: Twenty-four rats were divided into four groups, that is, control, middle cerebral artery obstruction (MCAO) without treatment, MCAO with intra-arterial CB-MNC injection (MCAO-IA), and MCAO with intravenous CB-MNC injection (MCAO-IV). Two weeks after injection, all rats were sacrificed, the brain was harvested, histologically process and stained with hematoxylin eosin (HE) to determine cellular and tissue morphology changes, and immunohistochemical staining, anti-NeuN antibody to determine the number of cortical neurons. The HE showed that MCAO rat brain had gliosis and shrunken cells. RESULTS: The results showed that MCAO-IA and MCAO-IV had fewer areas of gliosis and shrunken cells when compared to the MCAO group. The number of neurons also showed an increase. However, there was no difference between the MCAO-IA and MCAO-IV groups. It was concluded both of them could improve neurogenesis. CONCLUSION: CB-MNC administration can be an alternative for stroke ischemic therapy because it is proven to increase neurogenesis and reduce gliosis areas. However, there was no difference in neurogenesis in the brain tissue of mice injected with CB-MNC intravenously or intra-arterially.

Robust control of underactuated nonlinear systems is a challenging task using conventional methods because of uncertainties which may lead to failure especially for mechanical and robotic applications. Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is one of the methods specifically used for designing a robust controller that is able to deal with nonlinearity and achieve satisfactory performance for control applications. FLC uses heuristic information or expert operator knowledge to create its mechanism. However, nonlinearities exist in the control systems make its rule-based FLC design a non-trivial task. Manual trial and error tuning method is common way used for tuning the parameters of FLC to achieve the desired performance of the system. Hence, an automatic tuning using optimization algorithm is necessary. Meta-heuristic optimization algorithms are applied to tune the parameters of FLC automatically. In this paper, three popular meta-heuristic algorithms are used to optimize the scaling factors of FLC, i.e. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Cuckoo Search (CS) and Differential Evolution (DE) to improve the effectiveness of FLC design. A gantry crane system, which is a nonlinear system, is used as test system for this project. The simulation of the optimization of FLC parameters by using meta-heuristics algorithms was successfully achieved. The simulation results show that the optimization techniques for FLC are effective to improve the performance of conventional FLC for gantry crane control, i.e. position control and anti-swing control. In addition, PSO performs better than CS and DE in optimization of FLC for gantry crane system.

Proses penuaan menimbulkan banyak masalah pada lansia, salah satunya adalah hipertensi. Dampak dari hipertensi pada lansia dapat menimbulkan stroke dan penyakit jantung koroner. Sehingga diperlukan tindakan yang dapat dilaksanakan oleh lansia dirumah dan dipantau oleh keluarga. Pada pasien kelolaan belum optimalnya perawatan dan peran keluarga dalam perawatan lansia dengan hipertensi sehingga diperlukan penanganan dan asuhan keperawatan yang tepat dan berkesinambungan. Tujuan dari laporan ini adalah memberikan gambaran pelaksanaan asuhan keperawatan komprehensif terhadap lansia dengan hipertensi dan penerapan senam ergonomik. Laporan ilmiah ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dan asuhan keperawatan yang diberikan menggunakan proses pendekatan keperawatan keluarga. Hasil akhir pemberian asuhan keperawatan terlihat peningkatan pengetahuan tentang hipertensi setelah dilakukan pendidikan kesehatan selama dua minggu dan tekanan darah sistol dan diastol rata-rata sebelum intervensi adalah 170 dan 100 menjadi 130 dan 80 setelah dilakukan senam ergonomik selama 14 hari dengan durasi ± 25 menit selama dua minggu. Diharapkan keluarga dapat memberikan dukungan kepada lansia hipertensi untuk melakukan senam ergonomik secara teratur dan mengontrol kesehatan secara rutin kepelayanan kesehatan.

Saat ini mulai banyak peningkatan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan Rumah Sakit (RS) dari berbagai RS yang ada di Indonesia khususnya di Bogor. RSUD Kota Bogor melaporkan bahwa presentase kepuasan pelanggan/pasien pada bulan juli-sepetember 2017 tidak mencapai target (81%) dimana capaian tahap II sebesar 75.8% pada bulan agustus sedangkan dibulan juli dan september tidak terjadi. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh kualitas pelayanan di ruang dahlia RSUD Kota Bogor terhadap kepuasan pasien. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode descriptive correlational dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 115 orang dengan sampel 30 responden. Alat pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner skala likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas kualitas pelayanan yang diberikan ruang dahlia RSUD Kota Bogor dengan kategori baik sebanyak 17 responden (56.7%), kemudian mayoritas kepuasan pasien dikategorikan puas sebanyak 19 responden (63.3%). Hasil uji stastistik menggunakan uji Fisher’s Exact Test menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna atau signifikan antara kualitas pelayanan terhadap kepuasan pasien, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai p-value yang didapatkan sebesar 0.454.

The purpose of this study is to determine what factors influence customer confidence in customer decisions in pet inpatient care services at Junior Petshop, Lubuklinggau City. Data collection was carried out by observation and interviews. Data analysis using descriptive. The results of the study are what factors influence customer confidence in customer decisions in pet inpatient care services at Junior Petshop, Lubuklinggau City. Judging from trust, it is influenced by factors such as reputation and perceived quality. Reputation can be important to build a consumer's trust in the seller because the consumer does not have personal experience with the seller. Reputation by word of mouth can also be the key to consumer interest. The appearance and design of the company can also influence the first impression that is formed. Meanwhile, the factors that influence customer decisions are caused by cultural factors, social factors and personal factors. Cultural factors include nationality, religion, racial group and geographic area. Social factors are influenced by the reference group, family, and the role and social status of the community, while personal factors include age and life cycle stage, occupation, economic conditions, lifestyle, and the buyer's personality and self-concept.

Kepuasan pasien dianggap salah satu faktor penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan pelayanan kesehatan. Depkes Tahun 2016 menetapkan bahwa standar nasional kepuasan pasien diatas 95%. Tetapi RSUP DR. M. Djamil Padang belum mampu memenuhi standar tersebut. hasil pengukuran bagian KMMRS didapatkan data kepuasan pasien 80.15% dimana lebih rendah dari ketetapan rumah sakit sendiri ≥ 85%. oleh sebab itu kepuasan pasien harus menjadi prioritas bagi rumah sakit dalam meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kepuasan pasien di ruang rawat inap RSUP DR. M. Djamil Padang. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pasien yang di rawat di ruangan instalasi rawat inap Bedah dan Non Bedah RSUP DR. M. Djamil Padang yang berjumlah 725 orang dengan 258 sampel. Teknik pengambilan sampel secara proposional random sampling. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan mulai dari bulan September 2018 sampai Februari 2019. Pengumpulan data dengan kuesioner, analisis data univariat dengan distribusi frekuensi, analisis bivariat dengan uji chi-square dan analisis multivariat dengan regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian didapatkan kepuasan pasien sebagian besar (76,4%) menyatakan kurang puas terhadap pelayanan keperawatan. Faktor kehandalan sebanyak 80,2%, jaminan sebanyak 77,5%, bukti fisik sebanyak 81,8%, empati sebanyak 82,6% dan daya tanggap sebanyak 65,5% pasien menilai baik. Ada hubungan antara faktor reliability, assurance, tangible, empathy, responsiveness dengan kepuasan pasien dengan nilai p value ≤ 0,05. Dimensi yang paling dominan berpengaruh adalah dimensi responsiveness dengan nilai OR = 5.240. Disarankan kepada perawat untuk lebih tanggap terhadap kondisi pasien dan dapat memberikan bantuan sesuai kebutuhan pasien. Jeruju (Acanthus ilicifolius L.) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan mangrove yang sudah digunakan oleh sebagian masyarakat Ketaping, Pariaman, Sumatera Barat sebagai obat tradisional untuk mengobati kanker. Aktivitas farmakologis disebabkan oleh terdapatnya metabolit sekunder yang terkandung didalamnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan aktivitas sitotoksik ekstrak dan fraksi daun jeruju terhadap larva udang Artemia salina Leach dengan metode BSLT serta mengidentifikasi kandungan kimianya. Sampel berupa daun yang dikoleksi dari Pantai Kata, Pariaman, Sumatera Barat diekstraksi dengan cara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70% selama 3 hari kemudian dilanjutkan dengan fraksinasi menggunakan pelarut n-heksan, etil asetat, dan butanol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fraksi n-heksan memiliki aktivitas sitotoksik dengan nilai LC50 245,25 ppm dengan kandungan kimianya berupa flavonoid, saponin, steroid, dan terpenoid. Sedangkan ekstrak, fraksi etil asetat dan fraksi butanol tidak menunjukkan adanya aktivitas sitotoksik dengan nilai LC50 88348,67 ppm; 11255,03 ppm; 3592,98 ppm. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa aktivitas sitotoksik tumbuhan ini berada pada fraksi non-polar. Kata Kunci: Acanthus ilicifolius L., aktivitas sitotoksik, identifikasi, BSLT, Artemia salina

Background: Hypertension is a degenerative disease that becomes a serious problem but one way to reduce hypertension by means of cupping therapy.Objective: To know the effect of bruise therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients in healthy clinic Mugi Barokah Karakan, Godean, Sleman, Yogyakarta Method: This research is a quantitative research, using quasi experimental (quasi experiment) with pre and posttest without control. The population of this study were hypertensive patients who performed bruise therapy with population taking at the clinic of bruise therapy as much as 15 respondents. The sampling technique used incidental samples, with a sample size of 15 people. Data collection tool using check list.Results: The results showed the value of bivariate analysis with the wilxocon test formula that there was an effect of bruise therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients after bruise. Praktik kewirausahaan sosial saat ini semakin banyak dan tersebar di berbagi wilayah Indonesia. Sejumlah kajian telah menyatakan bahwa praktik ini bermanfaat dalam membangun nilai sosial dan kesejahteraan sosial. Maka berangkat dari hal tersebut, semakin diperlukan kiranya penelitian yang semakin mendalam terkait isu ini untuk dapat mendokumentasi dan menghasilkan kerangka-kerangka model kewirausahaan yang semakin baik.Penelitian ini mencoba mendeskripsikan praktik kewirausahaan sosial di Desa Cibodas, Kecamatan Solokan Jeruk, Kabupaten Bandung denga menggunakan kanvas model bisnis. Skema industri ini dibangun dengan memberdayakan masyarakat sekitar dalam produksi keset, sehingga ikut membantu dalam mensejahterakan warga. Warga yang menjadi pekerja adalah para ibu rumah tangga yang mendapatkan pelatihan pembuatan keset.

Strategi pengelolaan perpustakaan kampus dalam menciptakan budaya literasi perlu mendapat dukungan dari berbagai pihak terutama para petinggi kampus, sehingga dalam menerapkan normatif edukatif strategy yang digunakan dalam pengelolaan revitalisasi perpustakaan dalam menciptakan budaya literasi dapat dilakukan dengan program sudut baca, 15 menit membaca, reading together dan meresume, donor buku, tantangan membaca dan revitalisasi perpustakaan.Dalam rangka melakukan revitalisasi perpustakaan di kampus menuju budaya literasi merupakan suatu terobosan yang positif untuk meningkatkan budaya membaca dan menulis yang tinggi bagi mahasiswa. Revitalisasi perpustakaan merupakan usaha yang dilakukan agar perpustakaan dapat memegang perannya kembali sebagaimana mestinya. Indonesia as the largest archipelago and maritime country in the world has a very large marine resources. Fish is one of the marine wealthties (marine biota), which have large numbers in Indonesia. Fishermen is an important role in the process of fishing, however fish caught by fishermen are often mixed with other types of fish. Currently, the process of fist separation is done manually, which takes longer time and many error occur due to fatigue. In this work the conveyer separator based on the fish identification system is developed. The fish conveyer separator is designed and developed. The fish identification system is based on Fast Fourier Transform (FTT) technique and Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The system is working properly, since it resulting the training and testing accuracy of 80% and 66%, respectively.

Technology in transportation becomes important nowadays and must be developed overtime. In the era of development, there are so many roads extensions to balance the significant additions of motorized vehicles. The increasing number of vehicles caused problems such as damaged roads and lack of maintenance to the road itself. Lack of awareness to repair the damaged roads, especially potholes, make it more dangerous for riders to drive safely. This issues are more concerning right now because the increasing number of accident and mortality. To prevent accident to happen, the pothole detection sensor can be used to on car system. The development of pothole detection sensor in this research is adopted from the proximity sensor system where in that system they use camera and digital imaging process. The advantages from our system that we research and develop are more user friendly from the feasibility and the financial aspect. Low cost sensor with the same quality of the existing system is devlop in this work. Despite the use of low cost sensor, the maintenance also on the lower cost and easier to do. As the result of this research and study, an error was obtained between the distance that detected the pothole should be in less than 4% distance range from the sensor.

The license plate number which identifies the original registered place of the vehicle, as well as the usage of each vehicle which belongs to a private entity, a government vehicle, and a commercial vehicle, is identified in this work. Vehicle plate detection by a camera that mounted on parking gate. Detection process starts with collecting data using the camera. This work consists two important parts, namely image processing and classification system, respectively. In the image processing, the plate image capture by the camera is extracted to the feature space which will use as the input to the classification system. The classification system is then will identify the extracted input to the plat recognition identification. The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) are applied as feature extraction technique and classification methods, respectively. The results of the training and testing phase are 80% and 66%, respectively.

An earthquake is one of the most destructive natural disasters that can occur, often killing many people and causing large material losses. Hence, the ability to predict earthquakes may reduce the catastrophic effects caused by this phenomenon. The geoelectric field is a feature that can be used to predict earthquakes (EQs) because of significant changes in the amplitude of the signal prior to an earthquake. This paper presents a detailed analysis of geoelectric field signals of earthquakes which occurred in 2008 in Greece. In 2008, 12 earthquakes occurred in Greece. Five of them were recorded with magnitudes greater than Ms = 5R (5R), while seven of them were recorded with magnitudes greater than Ms = 6R (6R). In the analysis, the 1st significant changes of the geoelectric field signal are detected. Then, the signal is segmented and windowed. The adaptive short-time Fourier transform (adaptive STFT) technique is then applied to the windowed signal, and the spectral analysis is performed thereafter. The results show that the 1st significant changes of the geoelectric field prior to an earthquake have a significant amplitude frequency spectrum compared to other conditions, i.e. normal days and the day of the earthquake, which can be used as input parameters for earthquake prediction.

Quality determines the shelf-life and selling prices of fresh mango, and therefore quality observation and control of fresh mango are of utmost significance in the processing and management of its supply chain. Mango fruit (mangifera indica) quality methods are mostly destructive in nature. Different mechanical, electromagnetic and non-destructive methods are increasingly important nowadays because of the ease of operation, speed, and reliability of the process. This project aims to develop a non-destructive assessment of mango quality using handheld micro NIR (near-infrared) spectroscopic device. NIR spectra data and Brix levels, which indicate the sugar content of the plant, i.e. indicating the sweetness of the mango, were collected from three different types of Mango (Chokanan, Rainbow, and Kai Te), resulting 80 samples (i.e. 60 samples for training and 20 samples for testing) in this project. NIR spectra can be converted mathematically to obtain quantitative information of chemical and physical nature by multivariate calibration. The spectra data is pre-processed using Gaussian smoothing and extended multiplicative signal correction (EMSC) for the elimination of uncontrollable path length or scattering effects. These samples were then used to develop a predictive model using both Support Vector Machine (SVM) regression and Partial Least Squares regression (PLS) methods. The coefficient of determination (R2) obtained from SVM for training/calibration and testing dataset are 0.96 and 0.95 respectively. Meanwhile, the coefficient of determination (R2) obtained from PLS for calibration/training and testing dataset are 0.89 and 0.86 respectively. The results obtained from this project indicate that the handheld NIR has potential use for non-destructive assessment of mango fruits quality.

Hak Asasi Manusia merupakan hak yang mendasar pada setiap manusia karena hal tersebut merupakan salah satu ciri dari negara hukum. Penyelenggaraan pembinaan bagi narapidana harus menjunjung tinggi hak asasi manusia. Jika melihat dari kondisi di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan yang ada di indonesia, telah melebihi kapasitas karenanya terdakwa yang telah menjalani perawatan di rutan yang berubah status menjadi terpidana sudah seharusnya pindah dari rutan untuk menjalani pembinaan di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan. Namun banyak yang tetap tinggal di dalam rutan sampai masa pidananya selesai. Pada saat menjali masa pidananya terdapat berbagai kendala, seperti masalah tentang kesehatan dan makanan di rutan Klas II.B Lubuk Sikaping. Sebagaimana sesuai dengan Pasal 14 Undang-Undang Nomor 12 Tahun 1995 Tentang Pemasyarakatan. Adapun yang menjadi permasalahan dalam penulisan ini yaitu : (a) Bagaimana pelaksanaan hak pelayanan kesehatan dan makanan yang layak bagi narapidana di rutan Klas II.B Lubuk Sikaping,(b) Apa kendala-kendala dalam pelaksanaan hak pelayanan kesehatan dan makanan yang layak bagi narapidana di rutan Klas II.B Lubuk Sikaping.Dalam penulisan skripsi ini menggunakan metode penelitian hukum yaitu yuridis Empiris. Penulisan ini bersifat deskriptif analisis. Adapun hasil dari penelitian menyatakan bahwa pelaksanaan pelayanan kesehatan dan makanan yang layak di Rutan merupakan hak setiap narapidana. Pelaksanaan pelayanan kesehatan dilaksanakan di rutan klas II.B Lubuk Sikaping dilaksanakan dalam dua bentuk, yaitu: pelayanan kesehatan bersifat segera (urgent) dan bersifat rutin. Dalam pelaksanaan hak mendapatkan makanan yang layak ditentukan berdasarkan standar menu yang sudah ditetapkan. Namun terdapat kendala dalam pelaksanaan pelayanan kesehatan dan makanan yang layak yaitu kekurangan sumber daya manusia, anggaran perawatan kesehatan, tidak masuknya narapidana kedalam Penerima bantuan Iuran menurut Undang-Undang Nomor 1 Tahun 2014 tentang Penyelenggaraan Jaminan Kesehatan.

Most of the existing earthquake (EQ) prediction techniques involve a combination of signal processing and geophysics techniques which are relatively complex in computation for analysis of the Earth’s electric field data. This paper proposes a relatively simpler and faster method that involves only signal processing procedures. The prediction of the EQ occurrence estimation using a combination of singular value decomposition (SVD)-based technique for feature extraction and support vector machine (SVM) classifier is presented in this paper. Using the proposed method, the Earth’s electric field signal is transformed into a new domain using SVD-based approach. In this approach, the time domain signal is projected on the left eigenvectors of impulse response matrix of the linear prediction coefficient (LPC) filter. Several features have been extracted from the transformed signal. These features are used as input for the SVM classifier in order to predict the location of the forthcoming EQ. Once the location is determined, a similar approach is used to estimate its magnitude. Finally, the time estimation of the forthcoming EQ is estimated based on the statistical observation. The occurred EQs during 2008 in Greece are used to train the classifiers, whereas those occurred from 2003 to 2010 in the same region are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. In predicting the location of the future EQs, the proposed system could achieve 77% accuracy. As for the magnitude prediction, the proposed system provides an accuracy of 66.67%. Moreover, the predicted time for the EQ with magnitude greater than $\bf {Ms} = 5$ is 2 days ahead, whereas for magnitude greater than $\bf {Ms} = 6$ is up to 7 days ahead.

A vehicle key provides the main functions for accessing the vehicle, accessing the ignition mechanism, and the ability to actually start the car. Voice based starting engine access control system potentially replaces these main functions by replacing the key with the specific user voice.

Tumbuhan Jeruju (Acanthus illicifolius) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan mangrove yang banyak ditemukan di daerah tepi pantai di Sumatera Barat. Masyarakat di daerah Ketaping dan Pariaman Sumatera Barat mengkonsumsi buahnya untuk mengobati kanker. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan karakterisasi dan menentukan, aktivitas sitotoksik ekstrak etanol dan fraksi jeruju (Acanthus illicifolius) dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Daun dimaserasi dengan etanol 70% selama 3 hari, kemudian difraksinasi dengan n-heksana, etil asetat dan butanol. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan susut pengeringan simplisia 12,78%, kadar abu total 10,05%, kadar abu tidak larut asam 1,01%, sari larut air 17,76%, sari larut etanol 7,1%. Rendemen ekstrak etanol diperoleh 2,6%. Kadar air 25,4%, kadar abu total 15,6% dan kadar abu tidak larut asam 0,74%. Skrining fitokimia ekstrak menunjukkan ekstrak mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, fenolik dan saponin. Fraksi heksana menunjukkan aktivitas sitotoksik dengan nilai LC50 242,25 ppm. Sedangkan, ekstrak etanol dan fraksi etil asetat dan butanol dari daun jeruju tidak menunjukkan efek sitotoksik dengan nilai LC50 lebih dari 1000 ppm.

Food processing Technologies play important roles in supporting Making Indonesia (MI) 4.0. The effectiveness in food processing becomes emerging in the food industry. The automatic fruit classification system is becoming important for use in many food processing industries. A novel approach for classifying, using support vector machines (SVM) is presented in this paper. Fruit classification based on their shape is proposed in this work. The system differentiates the fruit based on their shape. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is extracted and later used as input to the SVM-based identifier. The fruit parameters are compared and classified, the results of computer simulation show that this technique produces better accuracy than that of the existing technique that is based on artificial neural network (Ann). The SVM also requires less training time than artificial neural network (Ann).

Photovoltaic traffic light system is a significant application of renewable energy source. The development of the system is an alternative effort of local authority to reduce expenditure for paying fees to power supplier which the power comes from conventional energy source. Since photovoltaic (PV) modules still have relatively low conversion efficiency, an alternative control of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method is applied to the traffic light system. MPPT is intended to catch up the maximum power at daytime in order to charge the battery at the maximum rate in which the power from the battery is intended to be used at night time or cloudy day. MPPT is actually a DC-DC converter that can step up or down voltage in order to achieve the maximum power using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control. From experiment, we obtained the voltage of operation using MPPT is at 16.454 V, this value has error of 2.6%, if we compared with maximum power point voltage of PV module that is 16.9 V. Based on this result it can be said that this MPPT control works successfully to deliver the power from PV module to battery maximally.

A solar-based intelligent water sprinkler system project that has been developed to ensure the effectiveness in watering the plant is improved by making the system automated. The control system consists of an electrical capacitance soil moisture sensor installed into the ground which is interfaced to a controller unit of Motorola 68HC11 Handy board microcontroller. The microcontroller was programmed based on the decision rules made using fuzzy logic approach on when to water the lawn. The whole system is powered up by the solar energy which is then interfaced to a particular type of irrigation timer for plant fertilizing schedule and rain detector through a simple design of rain dual-collector tipping bucket. The controller unit automatically disrupted voltage signals sent to the control valves whenever irrigation was not needed. Using this system we combined the logic implementation in the area of irrigation and weather sensing equipment, and more efficient water delivery can be made possible.

Secure buildings are currently protected from unauthorized access by a variety of devices. Even though there are many kinds of devices to guarantee the system safety such as PIN pads, keys both conventional and electronic, identity cards, cryptographic and dual control procedures, the people voice can also be used. The ability to verify the identity of a speaker by analyzing speech, or speaker verification, is an attractive and relatively unobtrusive means of providing security for admission into an important or secured place. An individual’s voice cannot be stolen, lost, forgotten, guessed, or impersonated with accuracy. Due to these advantages, this paper describes design and prototyping a voice-based door access control system for building security. In the proposed system, the access may be authorized simply by means of an enrolled user speaking into a microphone attached to the system. The proposed system then will decide whether to accept or reject the user’s identity claim or possibly to report insufficient confidence and request additional input before making the decision. Furthermore, intelligent system approach is used to develop authorized person models based on theirs voice. Particularly Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference Systems is used in the proposed system to identify the authorized and unauthorized people. Experimental result confirms the effectiveness of the proposed intelligent voice-based door access control system based on the false acceptance rate and false rejection rate.

IMC is a type of model based control that compensates time delay in the process. The controller tuning is quite simple in case of no-error in the model, otherwise it will be a difficult matter. Mp tuning has been considered a tuning for uncertain processes. To extend IMC to MIMO system, a new method based on Maximum Peak (Mp) is developed . The present study proposes Maximum Peak (Mp) tuning for IMC in 2x2 multi input and multi output (MIMO) system. Three particular 2x2 model of distillation colomn are being studied, the best configuration is analyzed by Relative Gain Array (RGA) and Average Dynamic Gain Array (ADGA) method. The tuning method consists of two main steps: Firstly, determine the worst case of the model uncertainty. Secondly, specify the parameter of set point controller using maximum peak (Mp) criteria. The effectiveness of Mp tuning for IMC in MIMO system is evaluated and compared to Biggest Log Modulus Tuning (BLT) for MIMO-PI Controller, Skogestad Tuning, and Rivera Tuning. Evaluation and comparison have been done through simulation and the results are satisying.

Earthquake is one of the most destructive natural disasters that kill many people and destroy a lot of properties. Therefore, it is highly important to know well ahead the occurrence of earthquakes in order to reduce the number of victims and material losses. Earthquake prediction is one solution to reduce such disastrous effect. The Earth's electric field signal is one of potential features that can be used for earthquake prediction generated from the released energy through a sudden dislocation of the segment in the earth's crust, this signal has become one of the potential features to predict the earthquake, since it has significant changes in the amplitude of the signal prior to the earthquake. The significant changes of the Earth's electric field signals prior to the earthquake are detected and utilized in this work. This paper presents the development of the Graphical based monitoring system for the earth's electric field. The system uses a graphical user interface (GUI) developed using MATLAB ®. The work is illustrated on earthquake data which occurred in Greece, between January 1, 2008 and June 30, 2008. In that period of time, thirteen earthquakes had occurred. Six of them were recorded with magnitudes greater than Ms=5R (5R), while seven of them were recorded with magnitudes greater than Ms=6R (6R).

The Earth's electric field signal is generated from the released energy through a sudden dislocation of the segment in the earth's crust. Many researchers have reported the use of parametric modeling technique for earth's electric field signal processing. The existing earth's electric signal processing based on parametric modeling technique has suffered from the noise. Therefore, the effective earth's electric field signal processing is necessary in order to process the signal with better performance for the identification. Singular value decomposition (SVD) based parametric modeling technique is applied as feature extraction technique to the Earth's electric field signal. The projection of excitation signal on the right eigenvector of the LPC filter impulse response matrix is involved in this technique. The combination of SVD-based parametric modeling technique has perfectly classified the significant Earth's electric field data prior to the earthquake and the Earth's electric field data on the normal condition after the polynomial kernel function is applied.

Seismic electric signal (SES) is one of features for predicting earthquakes (EQs) because of its significant changes in the amplitude of the signal prior to the earthquake. This paper presents detailed analysis of SES recorded prior to earthquake that occurred in Greece in the period from January 1, 2008 to June 30, 2008. During this period of time 5 earthquakes were recorded with magnitudes greater than 6R. In this analysis STFT involving adaptively sliding window technique is used, in which Hamming and rectangular window functions are applied and compared. The comparison shows that Hamming window gives better results in analyzing the first significantly changes of SES prior to the EQ. The application of Hamming window resulted in less rippled spectrum shape which is more suitable to be used in characterizing the SES.

Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) for Arabic word has been developed in this work. The system has the ability to recognize word that is uttered by the speaker. In this paper, an approach using support vector machines (SVMs) for identifying Arabic word based on the speaker speech is proposed. The proposed SVMs-based Automatic Speech Recognition system is tested experimentally using words uttered by 20 native Arabic speakers. The Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) is adopted as a feature and later used as an input to the SVM-based identifier. The performance of the proposed technique has been investigated, especially for multiclass classification and it is found to produce good accuracy within short duration training time.
