Działalność organizacji pozarządowych jest widoczna w różnych obszarach życia codziennego. Sytuacja wywołana pandemią koronawirusa dotknęła różnych sfer, w tym także działalności społecznej. Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą analizy sytuacji trzeciego sektora w okresie pandemii oraz wsparcia, które zostało mu udzielone przez organizacje i instytucje publiczne oraz komercyjne. Omawiam także projekty, które zostały zrealizowane przez organizacje pozarządowe w zakresie działań pomocowych skierowanych do konkretnych grup społecznych, rozwiązań z zakresu zdrowia, zapewnienia ochrony i poczucia bezpieczeństwa, a także dostarczenia posiłków służbom medycznym.

Aims: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is an emerging worldwide problem. Changes in clinical characteristics of women affected by GDM in a long-term perspective are still not properly investigated. We aimed to examine such changes over a decade in a retrospective single-center analysis. Methods: The medical documentation from Department of Metabolic Diseases, Krakow, Poland was analyzed. We included 633 women consecutively diagnosed with GDM in one of three time intervals: 2007-2008 (N = 157), 2012-2013 (N = 272), 2016-2017 (N = 234). Statistical analyses were performed. Results: Comparison of the three groups identified differences in the mean age of women at the GDM diagnosis (30.7 ± 5.0 years vs. 31.2 ± 4.7 vs. 32.5 ± 4.7, respectively, starting from the earliest 2007-2008 group), pregnancy week at GDM diagnosis (28.0 ± 5.3 wks. vs. 25.9 ± 4.9 vs. 23.4 ± 6.8), the proportion of women diagnosed before the 24th week of pregnancy (12.8% vs. 16.5% vs. 31.3%), and gestational weight gain (12.4 ± 5.0 kg vs. 10.4 ± 5.2 vs. 10.0 ± 5.7); (p = 0.001 or less for all comparisons). We also found differences for glucose values on fasting and at 2 hours with the highest (0 min) and lowest level (120 min) in the 2016–2017, respectively. Finally, a borderline difference for the weight, but not for BMI, was found (64.1 ± 14.1 kg vs. 66.2 ± 13.1 vs. 67.8 ± 15.6; p = 0.04). Differences were also identified in the post hoc analysis between cohorts. Conclusion: This retrospective analysis illustrates changes in characteristics of women with GDM occurring over the period of decade in Poland. They likely result from both epidemiological trends and modifications of the WHO criteria for the GDM diagnosis.

Samorządy w całej Polsce coraz częściej podejmują działania na rzecz wspierania osób starszych. Podyktowane jest to przede wszystkim danymi demograficznymi, w związku z szybko starzejącym się społeczeństwem. Oprócz wsparcia instytucjonalnego, oferowanego przez ośrodki pomocy społecznej, jednym z rozwiązań może być powołanie Centrum Wsparcia Osób Starszych przy urzędzie. Takie rozwiązanie wprowadziła Gmina Miechów (województwo małopolskie). Analizując działanie Centrum po 2 latach istnienia, podjęto próbę opisania kilku działań, które mogą być wykorzystane w innych gminach. Local governments throughout Poland are increasingly taking measures to support older people. This is dictated primarily by demographic data, in connection with a rapidly aging society. In addition to institutional support offered by social welfare centers, one of the solutions may be to establish an Centrum Wsparcia Osób Starszych. Such a solution was introduced by the Gmina Miechów (Lesser Poland Voivodeship). Analyzing the Center's operation after 2 years of existence, an attempt was made to describe several activities that can be used in other municipalities.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza procesu konsultacji i tworzenia rocznych programów współpracy z organizacjami pozarządowymi przez małopolskie samorządy. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone w formie ankiety rozesłanej pocztą elektroniczną do małopolskich samorządów. W pracy, dokonując weryfikacji działalności jednostek samorządu terytorialnego, szukano odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy samorządy postępują zgodnie z wytycznymi uchwały o działalności pożytku publicznego i o wolontariacie, w jaki sposób docierają z informacją do trzeciego sektora oraz czy słuchają wniosków i sugestii. The purpose of this article is to analyze the process of consulting and creating annual programs of cooperation with non-governmental organizations by the local governments of Małopolska. The data was collected using a questionnaire which was sent by e-mail to the local governments. The goal of the research is to find out whether the local governments act in accordance with the guidelines of the resolution on charity and voluntary services, how they reach out to the third sector and whether they listen to the NGO-s' conclusions and suggestions.

The addition of nitrogen compounds during winemaking is required for the fermentation process to be conducted properly. These compounds are known to be essential to the vinification process, not only because they influence yeast growth but also because they affect the formation of main and by-products. The effect of nitrogen source on in vitro and in situ formation of hydrogen sulfide and ethyl carbamate was studied. Research material comprised two strains of wine yeast: Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In vitro model was carried out in a synthetic defined medium. In situ fermentations were carried out in musts prepared from apple concentration. The process of hydrogen sulfide formation was intensified in nitrogen deficiency. The presence of amino acids in a model substrate resulted in significant changes in the efficiency of formation of both compounds. Yeasts produced more H2S in the presence of Cys, Phe, Gly, Glu, Ile, Thr, Pro, Leu, Trp, Val and less in the presence Ala, Arg, Asp, His, Ser, Met. The formation of ethyl carbamate was limited by the amino acids, except Arg, Asp and Lys, which during fermentation with Syrena yeasts caused an increase in the efficiency of formation of this compound. The Fermivit V preparation stimulated yeasts to form H2S. In the presence of this preparation the Syrena yeasts formed more ethyl carbamate while Hefix yeasts formed about 3-fold less of this compound then in the presence diamonium phosphate., Biotechnology and Food Science, Vol. 77 No. 1 (2013): Biotechnology and Food Science
